The cotton candy ice cream here is legendary, the flavor when you take your first bite just rushes to your taste buds...the conflict the the blue and pink cotton candy just goes so well, as well as they have these chunks of sprinkles of some sort layered within the ice cream that gives it such a unique texture!!! Every flavor here shoots out and tastes like the real thing, we got s'mores which was delicious. And I got a nutter butter flavor that was layered with chunks of cracker and peanut butter it tasted legit like the real thing. Everything just is so fresh and delicious. I love Skipper Dipper!! When visiting LBI, my family likes to visit Skipper Dipper at least twice. There are vegan options which we love! It's so hard to find good vegan ice cream. They have so many flavors of both soft serve and hard ice cream. My personal favorite is definitely the soft serve cranberry. It's so tasty!! They also do a punch card system. I believe it's 10 punches and you get a free ice cream. That is definitely worth it for my family of 5. I would definitely check this place out if I were you! Our visits to LBI wouldn't be complete without it. And don't let the long line scare you away! It moves quickly. read more

First discovered this place while working nearby. As ice cream stories usally go, i always stuck with what we knew as kids which was harvey cedars ice cream and dairy queen. Traditions die hard but glad my boss treated us to ice cream here because i became a huge devotee. What they do best: soft service. I am a soft serve die hard. I need a certain texture, soft but not melting so quickly you cant savor slowly, and it must be able to hold some sprinkles. I love vanilla soft serve with rainbow sprinkles, it delights my palate simply without too much sweetness, and must say not sure why, some sprinkles are so so good and other just taste stale or sugary Big dipper sprinkles are perfect. their ice cream soft serve is my 1st choice on lbi. Just wish they had cherry dip, but this is a hard sell in 2021. I also got a chance to sample peanut butter vanilla swirl and although their hard ice cream is not homemade, this flavor tasted so, and i will defintely come back to try some of this. Overall, Staff is pleasant, young eager kids who just want to make you enjoy the experience and i felt that. Even so, the staff was working hard and moving so quickly, the line went by real fast- I could have used some MORE time to decide what I wanted. The quality is amazing and they give you so much. I order a kiddie size and it would be a medium/large anywhere else. It is relatively inexpensive for the quantity of ice cream you receive. Skipper Dipper is a very successful ice cream place in a great location right on the boulevard on LBI, across the street from the ACME. I have gone there so many times. Their ice cream really is good, and one reason I like it is because they have lots of turnover. It does not sit and get stale. It has an upbeat atmosphere. I like their wheelchair accessible ramp. The only thing is that they are insanely busy throughout the summer. It gets just so busy that it becomes not worth it to wait on the line. Keep in mind that they have an efficient system to manage the crowds, but I still wonder what else they could do. Why don't they expand? At that rate, I often just go home and eat the ice cream from my freezer than pay the upgrade to eat it out there. Call me silly, but I don't like paying extra money and waiting on line for a long while for a convenience service. I also do not understand why they were closing in the middle of locals' summer, and especially closing on a weekend when temperatures were in the 90's. Strange! For our annual trip to LBI, we decided to hit as many of the "hot spots" for ice cream as we could.  Skipper Dipper was definitely one of our 2 favorites.  The servers were all friendly and efficient. They take your order as you wait and one employee handles everything for you. The only drawback is I'm not sure if you could ask for a sample while you're waiting outside. However, the line was down the stairs and to the curb and yet we only waited 20 minutes until we were seated with our cones. The ice cream was amazing. Death by Chocolate was awesome, as was S'mores, coconut, moosetracks and chocolate chip cookie. read more

The place is great itself and has great ice cream but please stop allowing dogs on the property. We found a table to ourselves and were the first ones there and these "karens " sat by us without saying anything with two dogs barking as loud as they could and jumping on the tables while I was eating my food!!!!!!! Also these stupid kids were playing with the flags hanging off of the building! I get the staff can't control this but please implement a rule where dogs aren't allowed in the seating area. Also the lady was screaming at her dogs the whole time and more dogs kept showing up making all the dogs bark like crazy. They offer a wide variety of classic and unique flavors for both hard and soft serve. I opted for a kiddie size CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE flavor on a wafer cone. The portion says single scope but it was more like a double for me. The ice cream was creamy and delicious and tasted like a real chocolate chip cookie. What also sets them apart are all the soft serve flavors. My sister got the raspberry soft serve topped with choco chips. She also enjoyed it. It was perfect for an after dinner treat. Also the line might scare you but they have an efficient system where a serve will come to you on line and take your order. She then brought the ice cream to you on line.
