My wife's mushroom Swiss burger was amazing with great big chunks of sautéed mushrooms and absolutely fantastic homemade onion rings. My daughter demolished her mini corn dogs. I had the chicken Parmesan sandwich, which was fantastic, and the handcut fries made it even better. Our server, Marianah, was super helpful, friendly, and attentive. We are a little over a week into our trip around the upper Peninsula and this is the first restaurant we have ate at that we all gave an absolutely perfect score to! My goodness, we had a great time here! The restaurant is right on the waterfront, making it easy for boaters, beachcombers and land lubbers to stop by. There's ample street parking and easy entry points. The bar is huge! It takes up nearly half of the restaurant and has great views of the bay. The food is good with generous portions. We both ordered the fish fry, mine with a bit of Cajun seasoning. The fish is prepared in fork-friendly bites and was very tasty. The batter was light and stayed crispy until it was all gone. I'm not one to rave about coleslaw but it is good here. It has the perfect crunch and isn't over-dressed (I don't enjoy soggy, wet slaw). Lots of local taps as well, perfect for all of that food. But it's the service, namely Sylvia (Trixie) that makes this a solid stop. She was hustling, greeting everyone, busing food and dishes, all while singing along with the bar playlist. She checked with every table as she went along, never letting anyone feel forgotten or overlooked. As the crowd thinned she had a few minutes to chat with us - she's a friendly ball of energy and an asset to Skipper's. We'd come back and sit in her section anytime! read more

If a zero-star option existed, it still wouldn't adequately capture the sheer incompetence of this visit. Being a small-town establishment is no excuse for a total collapse of basic human competence. We had to beg for water multiple times, and our nameless waitress couldn't even retain a simple seltzer flavor in her head for more than two minutes before disappearing. Waiting over an hour for fried cheese is already laughable, but being aggressively corrected by a secondary waitress who proudly announced it had "only been 53 minutes" proved that our actual server simply forgot to type it in. When the main courses finally trickled out, the appetizer arrived after the pizzas. To cap off this comedy of errors, our waitress breezed by to ask us if we wanted the bill, entirely oblivious to the fact that half the table hadn't even received their food. When asked where the burger and BLT were, she stared blankly and asked, "Is that not everything?" The kitchen's grand solution was to shove our missing meals into to-go boxes. No manager, no apology, and not a single dime comped. As an industry veteran, I know exactly how a short-staffed kitchen runs, and this wasn't that. this was pure, unadulterated laziness and hostile indifference. Stopped for a late lunch on Sunday afternoon while traveling through the area. Bar area was full of locals enjoying the NFL games on tv but there was plenty of room in the dining area. The food was good and the service was fast and friendly. We had the steak sub and fish sandwich as well as the dill pickle cheese curds. Stopped in for lunch yesterday with a group of 9. Small local place with a decent amount of options including homemade ice creams for dessert. Service was attentive and the co-owner couldn't have been nicer or friendlier. Wait was appropriate for the size of our party. Across the group we had the steak sandwich, chicken Parmesan sandwich, Italian sandwich and for apps we had jalapeño poppers, cheddar curds, and loaded nachos. Stopped in after work for lunch and regret this choice. Ordered the burger and fries standard. As soon as I bit into the burger I knew something was wrong. The burger tasted spoiled and "off". Something was NOT right. I ate a few fries and and tried the burger again. My stomach turned. There was something definitely wrong. When my waitress checked on me she asked why I wasn't eating the burger. I explained to her something was wrong with the burger and I couldn't eat it. She offered to make me another but I refused and tried a salad for take out. The waitress came back to the table and told me the cook tried the burger (Yuck) and deemed the mayonnaise was spoiled.
