I have been coming here since they first opened up. They were good at first and they have improved over time and are now very very good. Food , especially the catfish is excellent, also a great breakfast menu too. service is good but there is always a moderate wait for meal due to kitchen logistics, not a problem unless you are in a hurry or have a tight schedule. Friendly staff, moderate prices, easy substitutions should you wish ,make for a frequent place to eat on my rotation . My only minor complaint is they are not open for dinner some evenings. Great home-cooking with a casual vibe. Seat yourself and browse the menu; service is quick. The sweet tea is good, and breakfast/brunch is served all hours. The Pick-Three Appetizer pkate is an incredible bargain; our Fried Green Beans, Fried Mushrooms, and Cheese Sticks were great! My Chicken-Fried Steak had unusual batter, but it tasted just like I like 'em! Eggs Over Easy were perfectly runny, and the Hash Browns & Toast rounded out a nice brunch. Affordable and decent food. Stopped in on the way to Branson. Ordered a cheeseburger which included chips. I ordered a side of fries to share with my spouse. When my meal came, the waitress had substituted my chips for fries without asking, so no chips. My husband just shared his. When we got the bill, we were charged full price of $4 for the fries even though they were substituted. I know, no big deal. But it's the point. read more

Love this place! Had a salad on a cute little fish plate, ate the stuffed steak and it was SO good! We also ordered cat fish and it was great. Mashed potatoes and gravy, just delicious country style cooking. Such a calm, relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Our waitress was so nice and a great job and the rest of the staff seemed so kind as well. First time visiting this place on one of the many trips to Mt. Home. We had the catfish. The only downfall I had was that the kitchen is wide open and right there when you walk in. When you stop on the way out to pay you get a real good look at what all is going on in the kitchen. I know that staff eat all the time in this environment. But with a pandemic going on they should be a little more cleaner and wash their hands a little more often. The worst thing in the restaurant business is for the people to see the kitchen. Went to Skipper's for lunch. Didn't have a lot of time to eat, so I ordered a chicken salad sandwich on a ciabatta roll. The waitress offered me other bread, which I should have done because the bottom of the roll was over toasted and hard. The chicken salad was good, had some fruit and nuts in it, but I think it was made with Miracle Whip instead of mayo -- which I think is gross. Got chips, would have liked a pickle. This was a quick stop after driving northwest from Memphis. We saw the reviews about the catfish and we were not disappointed!! The service was wonderful; friendly and knowledgeable. The food was amazing!!! The catfish, the slaw, the pickled tomatoes.... everything was delicious. We even ordered additional hush puppies to snack on later. My only regret is that we live in Mew York, this would be a favorite of ours for sure!!! read more

Our omelettes both were chicken fajita omelettes and we had to hunt for the chicken and the veggies bordered on being burnt. Our biscuits were not warm at all- the gravy did help that. Not to bad.... I just the dinner salad and the broasted chicken. The lady told me it takes an additional 20 minutes as it is made fresh every order. Finally tried Skippers because it seems busy at breakfast and lunch. We heard breakfast was best so I got a hungry mans special with basically some of everything for breakfast: over easy eggs, hashbrowns w/ added onion and pepper($1.00 extra), bacon(cold, fatty bacon), 1 biscuit(burnt on the bottom) and gravy(prepared pepper gravy), and 1 pancake(inedible). The eggs were good and the hashbrowns were decent except there were too many onions and peppers, I guess I got the $1.00 worth. We also ordered the meatloaf special w/green beans, instant mashed potatoes w/prepared brown gravy and a hard roll. Salad was good. It seemed like most things are from the freezer to the fryer...service was good and friendly and honest when we asked if anything was hand bread and she said it's all frozen...catfish looked ok on others plates, but one and done. read more

This review is just for their catfish... it's the only thing I remember ever getting. Easily the best fried catfish in the twin lakes area. Their supplier must be good... filets are always plump and good size... the light breading is perfect southern style for fried catfish. Cole slaw, fries and sweet potato fries are all done right. The owner of Skipper's was outside working on the neon sign and asked if I needed help , he drove me up the road to get a gallon of gas for my bike and made sure I was good to go. This place was really busy and seemed to be the place to stop for lunch but had a few issues. First ordered chicken fried steak that was rather bland and clearly out of a box , mashed potatoes and brown gravy but got white gravey which I cant stand and a side salad which was the best part of the meal . Second , ordered fried pickles that never made it to the table. Third , never saw our waitress after she brought the food out , I didn't have any thing to drink for half my meal . Forth , ended up getting over charged $10 bucks are so but didn't realize it til several miles down the road . The burger my daughter order was pathetically small and over priced.
