Here for Sunday Dollar Oysters and beer, what a deal, and live music to boot. We ate on the bar and outside afterwards for live entertainment. Had a Amberbock on draft, $4.50, onion rings, and Oysters on the half shell. The onion rings are really good here, so crispy crunchy. The Oysters were from Alabama, a nice briny taste which made up for being a tad small. Coming back again!

Service was ok. But the food ? I ordered the crawfish mac and cheese. Tasted like box mac and cheese but the crawfish was awful. Absolutely no flavor not even salt, they were rubbery and dry and just placed on top the mac and cheese. Total regret.

I love supporting local businesses and I love oysters mix those together and you have Skippers Smokehouse. They had really good raw oyster deals on Thursdays. You get one oyster for a dollar each. The oysters tasted fresh and really good. I also decided to get fried okra and they had the best fried okra and remoulade sauce (I'm guessing that's what it was) I've had. The service was really good too. I was greeted right when I entered and always made sure that I was good throughout my dining. The restaurant was a very chill vibe and I can tell that they have really fun on days where they have entertainment. I will definitely be back and bring friends!

~On-Vacation Micro Review~ Picture a smoke shack off the side of the road. Swamp trees and in the dark, who knows if a gator may pop out! All of that ambiance to say that this place is AWESOME. There's live music, a bar, and a restaurant. We are inside the re

If you like oysters, I recommend their $1 raw oysters this summer on sundays. They have a very limited menu during the summer (zero clue why it's only like 15% of their regular menu), so that is a bummer, but oysters are worth it. If you would like full service, be sure to sit in the restaurant area. The tables near the bar area do not have table service, and the AC is not the best in that area. I had some wings (decently priced) with small pieces of celery. I just recommend getting extra sauce on the side since they are a little dry from being smaller. I wouldn't recommend the key lime pie only because it was overpriced for the size, but it tasted really good. We were a little shocked at how small it was. But I can't stress enough to go just for oysters, and you won't be disappointed. Bartenders are friendly and give quick service!

Wonderful dinner that never fails to hit the spot! Started with raw oysters. Then ordered a Grouper Reuben sandwich with hush puppies and Mac & cheese. Perfect dinner on a cool/ rainy night. Pedro and everyone behind the bar is always SO attentive and friendly.

Researched as part of my 7000 mile 24 city food tour. Excited to try the promoter gator ribs from man versus good. Need setup. Has a beach bar vibe with a state in an outside portion. My server was fantastic! Ordered half dozen oysters which were solid. The gator rib platter came with hush puppies and 2 sides (I chose Mac and Cole slaw). Flavor wise...everything was great! However, I must say that the gator ribs while a nice smoked flavor, were very very tough. Like 2 hours longer on low and slow tough as one I couldn't even pull apart with my hands off the bone. Overall it was still a great value for $20. Just needed a longer slower cook IMO

Will return. The place is original, pretty big with an open air stage in the back. We went tonight for the Grateful Dead - decent performance by Uncle John's Band. I think it's John's 70th birthday. You can watch/listen to 'Uncle John's Band' (1979) on YouTube. The service at the restaurant is good, food is pretty delicious. We've the famous sandwich, chargrilled oysters, hush poppy - all are decent. We ordered their key lime pie but our friends devoured it - they said it's really good.

Ask the Community - Skipper's Smokehouse

Is there table service to eat in band area? Is there seating in band area?

There is some seating backstage. Outside table service depends on how busy the the main restaurant stays and staffing.

What time do the shows begin?

Evening shows usually begin at 7, 7:30 or 8PM depending on the artist and opening act. But showtiimes can vary. ALWAYS check the event schedule. Many of the acts are national touring acts and can be all over the map, including some shows scheduled…

Is the stage/band area smoking or non-smoking?

They allow smoking in that area.

How hard is it to get a table near the stage area?

There really isn't any seating near the stage. Outside isn't hard though.

Do they still have amazing conch fritters?

    Yes

Now, it's Tom's Tavern, and they've made some changes. But this is still a fun spot for our casual girls nights! A few caveats: Tom's Tavern has a much smaller menu and no sangria. But we found lots of options on the new menu, and everything we ordered was delicious. I was happy to see they still have tater tots, and my girlfriends enjoyed their wings. Plus our server created a decadent cocktail for one of us with peanut butter whiskey, Bailey's & banana liqueur (a variation of an Elvis shot). We enjoyed tasting the first one so much that all of us ordered it next round! For my meal, I decided on the chicken tenders, which came with either potato salad or cole slaw, and choice of fries or tots. Unfortunately, the potato salad was served in a plastic container smaller than the dipping sauce cups. It was thick & tasty but I'm not sure why the portion size was so tiny! That aside, my tenders & tots were perfectly deep-fried, and I loved the house-made honey mustard & ranch sauces. This bar food is on point! Note, Tom's Tavern is suffering from a slim staff, as so many restaurants are. Luckily we were not in a hurry so we didn't mind. The two servers were definitely hustling all night, working all the tables. Tom's Tavern still hosts outstanding local live music. On our recent Friday night visit, JT Curtis & the Florida Scoundrels took the stage at 9pm for several long sets of mostly country music. This intimate venue is such a fun place to see talented musicians! Of course we'll return to Tom's Tavern. The location is convenient, plus they have tons of parking available in the plaza. The vibe is like a dive bar, but much cleaner & with better music. Edited to add the 5th star... Since posting this review, we have visited again. Service is still not speedy, but our food was delicious and our waitress remembered us & our custom cocktail!
