I enjoyed the food at Swigamajig. Located inside of Sparkman Wharf. It is a bit pricey but so is everything else in this area. There are 3 tables in front of the restaurant. More seating is available towards the back of the Wharf. Fish and Chips- Overall the fish is not flavorful however, they provide you with different sauces that assist with that. The fries are natural cut with sea salt (my favorite). Grilled Octopus Salad- I appreciated the presentation of this dish. I enjoyed the charred grilled taste of the Octopus. It complimented the salad which consisted of cucumbers, tomatoes, red onions, Kalamata olives, and feta cheese. It was simple and refreshing on a warm day. I would order these two dishes again on my next visit to Sparkman Wharf. read more

I really wanted to like this place but the food was inedible. $34 wasted. We ordered conch fritters and calamari and both were awful. The calamari was drowning in salt. My cousin and I took one bite and all we could taste was salt. Awful. No other flavor. Nothing else. The calamari was soggy and undercooked. How hard is it to make good calamari. Seafood based food truck type establishment is one of many restaurants in the Sparkman worth and definitely a high traffic area as it's right next to where the cruise ship trap off. They do offer excellent cocktails, and a selection of seafood. We were at Sparkmans Whatf last night and I often have a hard time finding lower fat/lower carb options here. Honestly...I typically eat before we go and just hang with friends. BUT yesterday I decided to get the Charred Octopus Greek Salad and it was amazing. Another one of my friends got it as well and also really enjoyed it. The octopus was tender and flavorful. The sad island lettuce based...it's more tomatoes, watermelon, cucumber and picked onion based. With a some feta and olives. It just really hit the spot. My husband got a fish sammy and fries, and he really liked that as well. Service was great, and it was a nice night to be outside. They have quite a few healthy-ish option here. We had a short wait for our drinks and they were top notch. They have several signature cocktails. I went with the tequila, club soda and strawberry cocktail, not sure what it was called. It was handcrafted, tasted great and looked even better with an orchid placed on the rim. This place is earth friendly too, as the cups were made from recycled material and 100% compostable. Sparkmans as a whole is a great place to come hang out and try different foods. Swigamajig is a "dive bar and fish kitchen" from the people at Edison food and drink lab restaurant in South Tampa. Their seafood menu changes daily with the fresh catch. We came here before a lightning game and had the fish+chips: crispy market fresh fish, handcut fries, bread+butter apple coleslaw, curry tamarind tartar sauce and conch fritters with orange blossom honey mustard. The food was ready in about 12 minutes and absolutely impressed me. It was fresh, made to order. The fish was light and flaky and wasn't overpowered by the breading. The conch fritters were honestly the best I have ever had. Just tasted so fresh, made from scratch. And a hint, their beer is several dollars cheaper than the beer garden and they also have craft cocktails. Definitely recommend. This is located at channelside aka sparkman wharf. It's also got a full bar which is pretty cool. However, I was not very impressed. I ordered the fish and chips. It was pretty bland but the unique tarter sauce works. The fries were pretty good but nothing to be super excited to get again. Customer service was, umm lacking. Maybe it was an off day but as soon as I walked up, the guy asked what I wanted but then said I gotta go to the bathroom and left. When he came back, he took the order but it really seemed like he didn't want to be there. Again could have been a bad day and we all have one so not terribly upset. I would like to go back and try the charred octopus salad when I get a chance. I could not enjoy my food (not that it was amazing or anything) because of the disrespectful service I encountered. Me and my teenagers rode throughout Channelside on the electric scooters and stopped at Sparkman's for food. Being a pescatarian, my choices were limited and I settled on Swigamijg. The menu didn't really impress me but, we were hot and hungry so. Just wanted something light and simple. Boom. I ordered the shrimp + chips. When I heard my name called and looked at the dish I asked if they were sure, the guy confirmed. We just assumed that Edison's take on a simple meal was just bizarre. Okay. It was disgusting and I was just about to toss the crap (after eating one whole piece) when I heard my name called again. The staff was giving me dirty looks and I couldn't figure out why? Turns out, they had mixed up my order and given me someone else's piri piri or something. That explained the staff's side eye, and unnecessary comment that he noticed me eating someone else's food and rolling his eyes before walking off to tell his fellow jerk employee. Now. My first reaction was to apologize and tell them I didn't care for rectifying. Keep both nasty items please. The second rude employee thwn snatched the wrong food from my hand, tossed the replacement meal at me, and slammed the window in my face while angrily throwing the other meal in the garbage. Soooooooo, my colleagues and I went to Sparksman Wharf during the grand opening on the first day. We really enjoyed the space! We had a staff retreat. Just time to unwind and get outside of the office. Also, I love new places and supporting local businesses, especially those within walking distance of the home and office. It was pretty good; however, $14 was a bit pricey, but I will break the bank for good food. I returned 4 days later and the experience was not the same. I received only 2 pieces of unseasoned fish and sub-par fries. I asked the guy at the window why are they downsizing the portions ALREADY???? He said the 2 pieces of fish were larger! $14 is a lot for 2 pieces of fish about the size of the palm of my hand and literally a handful of fries!! I am a pescatarian, so this would have been my go-to choice at the Wharf. I love Edison's so wanted to check out this spot during my first trip to Sparkman's Warf. I think they need some more time to adjust to the "food truck" style of food prep and serving as I was disappointed. Came here on a Saturday night to watch the Lightning game and football Playoffs, so expected it to be busy and there to be lines. I chose Swigamajig as I love the pro Edison. The line was not too long but moved incredibly slow. The location has and area on one side to take order and serve drinks and the other side to prepare and handout food. The ordering area looked appropriate staffed with 5 people working and 2 registers, but while watching it was very inefficient as the people taking orders were also preparing the drinks, which delayed others from ordering food. Why the 3 others didn't do drinks while 2 focused on orders is an easy fix for efficiency (plus people were often chatting and standing around watching those working the registers mix the drinks??) I ordered the shrimp & chips and a local beer. They had a good variety of drink options and some original mixed drinks. Once I ordered the prep time for my food was reasonable and actually took less time then waiting to order. The shrimp & chips was ok, nothing special but not bad. The "chips" where hand cut earlier and heated up or cooked then. The shrimp was lightly fried, but the frying was a surprise as it didn't say on the menu (yes fish & chips is usually fried, but considering the long description for the dipping sauce for the shrimp, one would expect some explanation on the shrimp). The shrimp were very large and there was a good amount. The sauce was tasty & a nice addition. I do wish there was either a spot to get ketchup or malt vinegar as the sauce was not enough for both the shrimp & fries, so you would be eating the fries with nothing to dip them in (not enough flavor to get away with that). Overall, this place is ok and works for decent food. But with the Edison name, it's not there but has potential. I hope they find the right items to do ut on the menu for the style of facility and also improve their efficiency. read more
