Crazy, over-protective dog mom here to share my experience with Skipper :) I happened to see a special that Skipper was running through Groupon and thought "what the heck, it's a great deal so might as well try it out". To be perfectly honest, based on my past experience with previous dog walking companies, I did not have high expectations at all. Boy was I wrong!!! Yall, this is the company to go with. They are AMAZING and their customer service blows every other dog walking service that I've ever used completely out of the water. And for the record, this is coming from a long time Rover sitter/walker myself. One of my dogs is extremely anxious and acts like a total psycho (barking, growling, etc) around new people, and Skipper has been nothing but patient and willing to work with me with her "special needs." They even set our profile to female walkers only, since she tends to have more fear towards males. Their app is perfect and so convenient/easy to use, and I love the detailed report cards that I get after my babies are taken out. Skiptown's grooming services are top notch!! My pup was in dire need of a haircut, and I was able to book an appointment SUPER quick when others in the area were booked up for months. They did an amazing job giving my dog a standard Springer Spaniel breed cut and nail trim & file, even when I know my dog was pretty nervous going in. I will definitely be back! Thank you! I have a membership and have been 3 times to the park. It's a great space and tons of workers keeping an eye on things (clean up). Parking is a huge problem. Only a handful of spaces so you have to park on Rampart or Hawkins...good luck finding something close. Also, there's an imbalance between the indoor/outdoor spaces. The indoor space is massive and basically empty. The outdoor space is nice but too small for the crowds. People/dogs are packed in the outside spaces and almost no one wears a mask. Ultimately only 3 stars because my dog isn't crazy about it. He was blindsided/knocked over by a crazy dog running from across the yard. Now he has a bad memory and is hesitant to hang out there. read more

DO NOT GET YOUR DOG GROOMED HERE. I've taken my dog to get groomed here twice with the teeth brushing and nail clipping add on. After his first groom here, he had a vet visit where they mentioned his nails being long. I explained that he had just been groomed and they had clipped his nails. The vet told me they obviously did not do this. The people here are so nice, i decided to give it a second try. My dog came back again with his teeth obviously not being brushed, his nails not clipped, and smelling exactly the same (was clearly not bathed). For 160 dollars, I dont feel like I got my moneys worth at all since they clearly did not do majority of the services I requested. The only reason they are getting two stars is because the people there are extremely nice, and we do enjoy the park. I would not recommend getting your dog groomed here. read more

Nice place. They are tough on letting you in. I like the venue and space. My only issue is they are super expensive so if you don't live nearby 15.00 just for you pet to get in. We live to far away to do the monthly and or the yearly fee. On the upside if you are local they pick up the poop for you and they seem to be on top of any dogs who might get feisty. The prices of a beer are also good at 6.00 a glass if I remember correctly. I found the place no to crowded and would consider it again but not to often and it gets pricy . They should see a book of visits for out of towners. read more

Wow! This place was pretty awesome! It was my first time here and signing up was made easy! Just complete it via the app and submit vaccination forms. My six month old pup literally had the time of his life. He was a bit overwhelmed because it was a busy Saturday and the Easter bunny was taking pics with the dogs, but he was able to run free and get so much energy out. The parking was good for me, I got there pretty early before a large crowd came in and was able to park right in the front. There's two sections for big dogs and small dogs, but no one was in the small doggy area and we were able to take our baby to the big dog side, which sounds intimidating, but was not at all. The dogs are all friendly and I saw no issues with that. The dogs are able to potty in the area and the staff cleans up immediately; the staff is there to supervise the dogs at all times - no rough play or fighting was tolerated. I didn't even grab a drink because I was so worried about how my pup would be with socializing (it was his first time around other dogs). Overall, it was a great time for him. There was a shared community bowl of water because no outside food or drinks are allowed for any of the dogs. I was a little iffy about that because of bacteria because my baby is so young, but other than that, the perfect place to let your dog go to just run leash free while you enjoy some drinks! My puppy slept so good this night LOL! They also host cool events throughout the week and you get notified via email and it's all in the app as well. I wish I could give this place fifty stars. I don't understand why anyone would go somewhere else to drink unless they're allergic to dogs. Good bar, reasonably priced drinks, a screen for sports games to play on, and so many dogs. Great place for socializing dogs and getting to meet other people/dogs. I love this place for grooming and daycare. I've read some other comments and I'm not sure what happened because every time I come here the facility is always clean, the associates always great me and my pup. The grooming facility is great at communicating. Any questions I have that cannot be answered by a team member can be answered via email to the manager (which she/he responds to basically immediately). I love this place over a regular dog bark. I cannot express enough how amazing this place is when it comes to feeling comfortable. Usually don't trust places with my dog after working ER and getting to know some of the daycare places but Skiptown has never let me down. read more

It would have been nice to know that you cannot bring strollers in...it mentions as long as you're 21 you can come by, but any brewery or bar in Charlotte requires you to be 21 and you *can* bring a baby in a stroller. There's nothing specifying that children are not allowed at all and the 21 age restriction makes it sound like you have to be drinking age to go to the bar...which is like anywhere. Maybe specify that before people drive half an hour to experience nothing. At least we found a dog and baby friendly brewery in Waxhaw, so the day wasn't entirely wasted. I guess we won't be coming for any meetups since we're parents. read more

Their daycare and boarding staff are so attentive to our pups, I love the great treats and upgrades you can get while your dog is staying at Skiptown. I absolutely LOVED this place! I'm a dog lover, a dog groomer and am looking to open my own business. I was visiting Charlotte and checked this place out! Even if you don't have a dog, you can enjoy watching other's dogs. The idea is an open play area, indoor and outdoor, where the pups can play while the parents hang out at various tables and can have drinks and cocktails. All the dogs looked so happy! It was incredibly entertaining. They also offer daycare, boarding and a self wash station. A few things to note: I didn't see water bowls out for the dogs. It looks like there was a water station where parents could pour their dogs water in a cup to drink out of. The employees that were indoor scope out the area for messes to clean up. One particular worker skipped picking up poop that I know she saw for quite a while. She seemed very unhappy to be there. read more

The Skiptown backyard on a sunny fall day = HEAVEN. The drink selection is great - always a fun new beer to try. The outside space is idyllic. Everytime I go my pup has fun AND I get to meet other people's dogs who want to say hello and get some pets. They throw fun themed events with music, photo backdrops, and special drinks that are always DELICIOUS. My dog and I are always smiling at Skiptown and she is snoozing before we even get home. Meh. This place is more of a hype/marketing than it is anything substantial. Parking is a nightmare. The back entrance is not straight forward. Does it offer any real advantage to other free dig bars? Well if you are lazy and don't want to pick up after your dog, then sure. But I feel like that is a given responsibility of a dog owner. I see no value for this place to charge a membership. The crowd here is very young and cliquey, as with anywhere in southend. Is it terrible? Definitely not. Is this one of a kind? My pup and I absolutely love this place! The amount of times we have been to trivia night is not an amount I would like to admit as it is almost every week! Skiptown has really helped my rescue pup open up as he used to just watch the other dogs play, but after a few visits to the park and daycare he has joined the pack! I also cannot speak highly enough about their drink options! I love that they have so many local breweries on tap and their cocktails are always so fun! This is also by far the cleanest dog bar I have been to as they have staff throughout to help clean up messes and monitor the dogs. This spot is one of my favorite places to go with my dog. The only thing I would say is that it gets pretty crowded at peek times and the workers can be a bit overwhelmed. Maggie(?) girl with orange hair, is one of their best employees. I've been here about 10+ times now and every time she is here, she's always doing something productive whereas other workers seem to be socializing. I've seen her clean up 3-4 messes while others stood around and just allowed her to do so. More people like Maggie, please. read more

I've used Skipper for a little over a year now, and I love their service! I always feel like my pup is well taken care of! The walkers are very nice and take great photos of my dog, along with a nice recap of the visit, though it would be nice if they threw some small criticisms on her behavior in there. I know she isn't always perfect and can be a handful, though I do appreciate how energetic and happy they are about walking and playing with my dog! Stress-free! This place is amazing. I would honestly go here without a dog just for the entertainment of other dogs. My dog has gotten better with socialization after we started coming here and it's definitely because of Skiptown. The staff are so friendly. Also they have towels for your dog if they get wet from rain or the splash pad. We've only been going to the bar so far but plan on doing some day care and boarding here. I was very nervous about having to board my pup when going on vacation but I fully trust Skiptown and staff. read more

Took my puppy here for grooming. They charged $40 +tip for less than 30 min session, she pretty much came out almost the same way she was brought in. She did smelled pretty good...her eyes had tear stain and beard had saliva residue, when I asked about this was told she did not get a bath just a light trim on her face. She did get a cheesy bow on the top knot I did at home. She is a Yorkshire so don't expect traditional ear trimming. All I can say is that I paid for a very expensive spray lol...needless to say not bringing her back. Very disappointed read more

This place was my worst nightmare! I absolutely love dogs and when we relocated to Charlotte this was what I was looking forward to the most. My daughter and I decided to bring our dogs and the second we walked into the facility and let our dogs off the leash a massive Great Dane began viciously attacking a medium size dog. The staff was clearly not prepared to deal with this as this went on for some time with the poor dog screaming and trying to escape. The owners of the dog barely tried to intervene and this was a massive very muscular Great Dane. We immediately grabbed our dogs and left shaking and in tears over what we had just witnessed. I would beware before going here as when a dog gets aggressive the staff is clueless. The owners of the dog just left and didn't appear to be banned or have any sort of repercussion. There were way to many dogs there. Right at the entrance we were greeted by at least 50 dogs. They really need to have way more staff or limit the amount of dogs. Also be aware that there are only 4 parking spots or you have to find street parking which was almost impossible and we had to walk forever to get there. read more

The bar park and the day care are great but DO NOT GET YOUR DOG GROOMED HERE! I brought my beautiful Aussie in for a small trim on her back and neck and instead of trimming her like I asked they shaved her down. Aussies are a double coated breed and are not supposed to be shaved because it can negatively effect their coat. When I expressed this after her cut I was told they used the longest clippers they had. When I asked why they had used clippers instead of scissors to trim her they told me that would have taken four times as long. I am devastated with how her cost feels and looks and am just hoping it grows back correctly. Please take your fur-babies somewhere else for their grooming! read more

My dogs have both stayed for a week at Skiptown's boarding and have occasionally used their daycare service. I can't overstate how great the communication and overall quality has been. Some places your dog pulls you away when they see it the second time - at Skiptown they pull you towards it. I love the cute visit reports and photos they send every day through their app too. And the bar/park side is amazing - the bartenders are friendly, the staff in the park love the dogs and also take care of any messes, and the other customers are all really nice and attentive to their dogs.
