Absolutely UNFAIR that arguably the coolest bar I've ever been to is all the way in Charlotte! Planned a weekend trip to the Queen City and wanted to make sure there were plenty of things to do with my pups, so I decided to check Skiptown out. A few days before we left, I created an account on the app, uploaded their vaccine records, and was approved for visiting the bar within hours! When we got there, parking was a little dicey, but once we'd parked and leashed the kiddos, we strolled right in to a seamless check-in process. I loved that there were separate entrance and exit gates because anyone who has ever been to a dog park knows the chaos of the in/out dance. This place was MASSIVE and filled with happy dogs of all breeds and sizes. The indoor space was nice for the dogs to cool off in, but the real showstopper is the outdoor space. There are ramps, tunnels, and even a splash zone. Staff is super attentive and keeps the place super clean. For the humans, there were 24+ taps and a full bar. All 3 of us left happy and excited to come back whenever we pass through!

The place has a cool concept where you can bring your dog to socialize and it's also a bar. Place was clean and staff were friendly. Dogs had a lot of space to run and interact with other dogs and it had an indoor and outdoor area as well. What I really liked is that there is staff walking around making sure the place is cleaned up. The bar had some cool drinks. It was a nice experience and a great place for dogs.

I think that this place does the best job with creating a safe space for our pups to play in Charlotte! I love the grapefruit mimosas myself, and then love the pup cups and watermelon/banana pupsicles for Leila! We also got a really cool deal on a summer dog park pass on Memorial Day - ngl, wouldn't have thought to try it out without the deal - and now I know that when it ends I'm gonna have to keep taking her to Skiptown! My little Leila is socializing so well now that we go to Skiptown every week or so. She used to bark all the time at passing dogs, but now it's just every once in a while when she gets bad vibes. She'll play with the doggos at Skiptown and feels so free off the leash. It's kinda funny to watch her play - she only wants to play with the big doggos and will play for like five minutes then retreat back under the bench where I'm sitting - it's hilarious, but also great that she can be herself and still find a safe place when she needs it. The space is really nice outside - so spacious and fun for the doggos to play. I think the inside is just like any other brewery, so when it's not nice outside, I'm probz not stopping here. But the outside is unmatched in Charlotte - especially for apartment doggos. The staff is also really good about making other doggos keep space - like if a dog starts humping your dog, they'll stop it. And I love that spayed/neutered is mostly required and you def have to stay up to date on your dog's vaccines, so you feel your dog is as safe as they can be in a place like this! Ps. my Leila is spayed :) so I don't worry too much about that anyways, though I def want other doggos to give her personal space when she needs it. Only every once in a while do I run in to a doggo that is kind of an a**hole, and it's always a reflection of their owner who's usually just getting drunk at the bar without even paying attention to their doggo - note, you should be watching your doggo when you're here - for their sake, if anything (your doggo loves you unconditionally and just wants to hang with you). Do wish that the staff would reprimand these people a little more, though. It's also a great place to make a pup play date with a friend while you catch up with drinks. I also did come on one of the days that they open up early to try to work there while my pup played during working hours. My opinion on that is mixed. They only open up the small side part of the bar and outside for these hours, which I kinda get, but with the scorching hot days in the Carolinas, there's not enough inside space for people to work. You and your dog will end up way too hot when sitting outside that long, plus your computer will start to overheat. I think they should have the whole inside open during these hours so you're in the AC and able to work - I probably won't be back for a "work day" given the limited space in sweltering heat. I will say their mocktails were super delicious and refreshing during these hours, so I'd grab another one of those if I did end up coming back during these hours. I honestly can't wait for their Noda location to open up because I'll be there daily - my biggest complaint about this Skiptown is the location. Parking is a nightmare and South End is just a nightmare itself for a thirties gal like me. I usually end up taking an Uber here just because it's easier. When you can't find street parking, the parking was like $30 in the garage when we were there for like three hours - way too much. Overall, great place for your doggo to play and make friends in an open space while you grab a drink! Def recommend!

Upscale dog park with great alcoholic beverages for the humans. Pretty secure, however I would appreciate a more definitive method of matching owner to pet. Perhaps maybe numbered wristbands/dog collars? Plenty of space for the dogs to run around and get exercise and make lots of new friends. Will definitely make this spot a staple destination.

The absolute best. I can't speak highly enough of the people behind this company. From the consultation to our 4th walk today, complete professionalism. We receive a message upon arrival and a text with link after the visit. Also provided are pictures, a detailed report of the visit and gps screenshot of the walk so you get to see your pups out and about. Very affordable and reliable. read more

Love love love this service and company so much! They are wonderful, flexible, and accommodating. There have been many mornings where my schedule has shifted and I've had to make last minute appointments they were able to accommodate. My corgi loves them and I love getting the pictures and map of where they've been. I was worried to bring a pet company in since I have two escape artist cats, but they always leave in the notes that both cats were inside. I recommend downloading the pet check app so you can schedule, view, and see the notifications instantly. Thankful we have this in Charlotte because it has saved my sanity and it's so affordable!! read more

Horrible customer service! I scheduled my dog for a compatibility day which took 4 weeks to get. I arrive at 9:08am and the front desk refused to take her because I was not there by 9:00am. I asked to speak to a supervisor, and the front desk acted as if they couldn't find my reservation. When the supervisor came out, my reservation was "found." The supervisor offered to have me bring my dog the next day because they were at capacity for the day. Within 8 minutes? My dog was scheduled for today. After agreeing to bring her tomorrow at 8:30am, Skiptown sends me a confirmation email stating I needed to be there by 8:00am. Why? to duplicate what happened today? I will never bring my dog to skiptown daycare with such negative energy. read more

So far, they have been great! I got a new puppy over the weekend. Meggie came out yesterday to do a consultation to meet my pup, Ridley, and go over the process and any questions I may have. Today they took him out twice and played with him. I love that they send me at least 3 pictures of their time together and give me a detailed description of what they did together and if he went to the bathroom! There is no fee for same day appointments if you have an emergency, and no fee for same day cancellations as long as they are by 8am. I'm happy my pup gets some extra playtime and potty breaks during the day!! read more

I visited Skiptown for the first time last weekend and felt uncomfortable with the lack of any semblance of covid protocol. No social distancing, it was extremely crowded, and most of the patrons were not wearing masks. It was a nice space, but both me and my dog felt uncomfortable with the crowd and it felt very overpriced too considering those factors. read more

Skipper is great! All of the walkers are animal lovers and based on the text messages we get following a visit, you would think your dog was the only dog, and the best dog in the world. They are punctual and if you leave special instructions, they follow them and confirm in their post-visit message. If you need to make a last minute change to the walk schedule, you can do so up until 8am that day. Makes it so handy if work schedules happen to change. I can't say enough good things about them. And, our dog loves them too. read more

Hailey and Katie were absolutely amazing last night, they loved all over our pup. Hailey also gave me information about the day care side which we are excited to sign up for her compatibility test and start getting her more socialized! All around great place and just so happened to stop in on muddy Monday which you get a beer and someone bathes your dog for only $18 can't beat that! Look forward to coming back soon. read more

Blown away by the service at The Waggle Company! They are always so nice, and they make a somewhat stressful situation stress-free (say that five times fast ;) ). I came to The Waggle Company from a colleague's recommendation after I had an awful experience with another local dog-walking company. It is the best dog-walking company I've ever used! The Waggle Company not only sends you an e-mail upon arrival and departure from your home that includes a report card and pictures, but they also use GPS on their walks with your dog(s) so you can see the route taken. Their online reservation system is easy to use, and the invoicing is seamless! Highly recommend to anybody seeking a reliable dog walker. read more

This place is awesome! We had been bringing our pup to Pet Paradise and he never wanted to get out of the car and go in. He hated going there. But at Skiptown as soon as we pull up his whole body shakes from excitement and hops right out of the car. I use the Waggle Co everytime I'm in a pinch and can't bring my pup to work with me. They are amazing with their same-day requests. I actually looove their write ups more than anything. And their photos!! They are so sweet. Have such a good time with my pup, and he loves going out with them. I seriously would recommend them to anyone and everyone. We love The Waggle Company! Meggie and her team are trustworthy and caring. I feel very comfortable leaving my two pups with them! I love that I get an email when they arrive, that the walk is GPS tracked, then receive an email with pictures and notes from the visit! Plus I can sign into my account and see the walk route bc of the GPS. They follow all the notes I leave about the girls and treat them just as I would!...with love and lots of hugs. The more we use The Waggle COmpany, the more I love them. The Customer Service is excellent, and Katie does so much better when we use The Waggle Company vs. boarding her with the vet. She did seem like she missed us, as she was all over us when we got home, but she was right back into her routine as soon as we were home. We couldn't be more pleased. We have no reservations about using their services when we go on a day trip, or when we go away on vacation. I truly feel like the folks love Katie as much as we do. read more

I've been using this service daily for the last year and a half and I LOVE them. Skipper makes it so that not only do I not have to worry about my dogs while I'm at work during the day, but I also receive fun photos and amusing comments about their activities/behavior. The Waggle Company has been a blessing to me! My 110lb pup Roscoe is recovering from ACL surgery and could no longer go to day care or boarding like he was used to. Meggie and The Waggle Company are able to take care of Roscoe and give him the exercise he needs and giving me the peace of mind knowing he is being taken care of by such loving people. The Waggle Company has always been great to work with, they show up on time, send tons of pictures of the pups on their walk, and billing/payment is a breeze. We have two pretty large labs, and the walkers have always been great with them. They also do a great job paying attention to the little things when we are away for the weekend, like giving the pups their meds, turning on a nightlight, making sure the alarm is set...ect. read more

I'm so glad to have found The Waggle Company! I can tell by how my dog greets me when I get home that they took excellent care of him (and also my cat!). What really sets them apart from other services is their check in/check out feature. I know exactly when someone is in my house and when they left. And they always give me a thorough recap and photos! I've not experienced this to this level from anyone else and it makes me extremely comfortable about inviting them back into my home to care for my pets. read more

In fact his love for daily visits to the dog park are why we prefer boarding him over having someone watch him at our home. Club Fetch had the notes from the other facility and chose to give our boy a chance. They sent daily report cards evaluating his behavior with photos and took excellent care of our dog. When I picked him up they said that he was an angel and was welcome to stay there anytime. Club Fetch gives us great peace of mind. We are so thankful to have a safe and loving place to care for our dog when we have to be away.

The day of the appointment, I went in to the facility they said there was no appointment. They then proceeded to look at my records for my pet and stated "You need every single distemper shot in the series to be seen. NC state law." Upon a simple google search, the only shot required by law is the rabies shot (which my dog has). I was refused grooming for no reason by an ill informed staff team. Not to mention the lack of customer service by not having a booking system that works and lack of basic phone etiquette.

My dog, Anakin,…read morehad an acute episode of not eating/not moving in the spring, and Dr. Short was the one who thought to take his temp, it was quite high. He stabilized Anakin and put him on meds, but over the course of some months his labs weren't improving so Dr. Short sent us to an internal med specialist. Anakin received an untreatable cancer diagnosis. We now talk every week by phone to discuss Anakin's status and at some point I'll need his guidance on when it's time to allow Anakin to no longer suffer. This has been an incredibly tough year, and Dr. Short has made it more manageable to bear. At every visit he always asked if I had more questions, led me in shared decision making, was calm, measured, and empathetic. The staff at Long Animal are also really nice. If I ever get another dog, I'll be coming back.

Not because he doesn't love us, but because dogs live in the now. He was busy, focused, doing his thing. We felt so much better after that. Carson came home happy and calm and confident. He understood the rules and felt good about it. And he wasn't (as our son put it) a "bot" now - he was the same sweet and goofy pup but now, he could follow instructions and maintain self control when we needed him to. The staff were also straight with us about the fact that he'd have setbacks. That's normal. They spent a lot of time explaining what you do when it happens. In fact, they spent almost an entire day with all the families at graduation - going over what the dogs learned, getting you hands on practicing how to do it, answering questions, and really teaching a ton of helpful information. We're about to set up our in-home training visit, which will be for all of us, including our three kids - really great to get everyone aligned with Carson's training. The Dog Knowledge is fantastic! We are members now and plan to board our dog with them whenever we go on vacation. I cannot imagine trusting any place like we trust them.

When I picked them up after work, they were brought into the lobby smelling of urine. They left wet paw prints on the floor. When I got them into the car, the urine smell was overwhelming. I went back in and asked the woman at the front desk why the dogs reeked of urine. She actually asked, "what do you want me to do about it?". I replied maybe return the dogs in the same condition as when they were dropped off. She said maybe they rolled in it outside. Rolled in urine? Um, ok. Thank God I have a dog cover over the back seat of the car. It was soaked. Their collars and leashes were wet and reeked as well. I had the enjoyment of running everything through the wash and giving the dogs 3 rounds of bathing each to get the smell out of their fur. They were obviously kept in their kennels without being let out to relieve themselves. Both dogs are housebroken and well behaved. Not a way I want to spend my evening after working all day. Not to mention that doggie daycare is not cheap. The first strike was when I came to pick them up and while I was waiting for them to come out, a very large aggressive dog named "Tarzan" came in with his owner and the owner had no control over him. The female front desk staff wouldn't take him back to his kennel. They had to call a male to the front that could handle him. My dogs had to be kept behind glass doors until it was safe for them to come out. That's a huge liability on Pet Palace if that dog hurts another person or dog. Ever heard of making the owner call when he's in the parking lot to make sure the lobby is clear?

We took our dog to get a full wash, trim, etc. We had just adopted him from the Humane Society and really wanted to pamper him and get him all cleaned up. First of all, the staff in the office is so kind and warm. You can tell they love dogs! That made us and our doggo a lot more relaxed for our first visit. They give you plenty of info and reassurance. When we picked him up he looked amazing!!! His coat was shining and he was all smiles. They also did a temperament test for him too, which was great because the Humane Society didn't have a lot of history for him so we didn't know how he'd do with other dogs. I love that they do the temperment test for free and give you a whole report card!!! Such a fun and helpful touch. Our dog loves it here. He never wants to leave when we pick him up lol. This is one of the most beautiful parks I've had the pleasure of visiting. There are beautiful views, playgrounds and lawn space for children's play, plenty of parking, trails for walking/bike riding, several bridges, and large trees to compliment the fields. The park is well-kept as everyone here ensures cleanliness and top maintenance. As my dad and I sat down on the bench and soaked in our surroundings, we observed a plethora of activity which included some people flying drones, kids competing in the playground's obstacle course, elderly folks walking, dogs running amok, people racing toy cars, and a few people cycling. She also wanted to understand my goals and matched me with the right horse. Lastly, I feel completely safe on and around the horses and my favorite part of the lesson is grooming the horse afterwards. Her farm is also a respite from the hustle and bustle of the city, but so close - 15 minutes from Uptown. On the days when I have lessons, all the stress of the day melts away as soon as I hit the gravel driveway. If you're looking for lessons for yourself or your kids, I highly recommend Charlotte Equestrian Club.

I bought tickets before we even had a hotel booked! We arrived the day of with our dragon in hand (that came with our copy of Dragons Love Tacos 2) and my toddler son decked out in his dragon sweat suit. We were ready! Our show was on a Saturday at 3pm. If you arrived at 2pm there was a free behind the scenes tour of the theater. We of course took full advantage! 2pm we were squished with many of the other patrons all ready for the free tour. We were greeted and then moved into the theater. It seamed like over half the audience that day showed up for the tour! This made it difficult to move as a group through the backstage and hear everything being said. Was it cool to see where they make the sets and store the props? Yes! It was great feature I am thankful they offered but maybe needs more organizing for large groups. Another little tip for their tour guides, don't tell us what we cant see (costume area) because of the large group. Just bummed me out (and if it wasn't said I wouldn't have thought we missed out!) Also it was posed before the show arts and crafts available. Once the tour ended we were asking around about the crafts. we saw people with crafts. People had no idea! More organization needed as the crafts were taking place inside the library! We showed up with only a few minutes to do crafts because we wasted time asking people about the crafts! The show... not totally like the book but close. My 10 year old thought it was a little too young for her and my 1 year old was quiet for the whole hour! The 4 year old with us, he was mesmerized! So I would suggest when they say children's, aim for kids under 8 here. The production was pretty good with great visuals and a great destruction scene! This is not low budget by any means. Cool thing they did, after the show they let people stay behind and showed how the crew talks to one another on their headsets to make the action happen on stage! (This was geared more toward a 10 year old as opposed to a 4 year old understand what was really happening.) What could have been better? Let people enjoy the show more. The staff working in the audience were intense. I was approached by a kid, like 12 years old, who told me I couldn't give my 1 year old his bottle and the other two kids had to put away their candy. At no point at the beginning of the show was an announcement made about food/drinks in the auditorium. I am a rule follower. I would oblige. But not letting my 1 year old get his bottle seams a lot ridiculous! I kept watching the ushers go up to many other patrons about use of cell phones and everything else. It was distracting. Calm down folks. We came for the dragons. Speaking of which, I told my daughter when we bought the tickets: I don't know how they will make dragons appear on stage so it could be amazing or terrible but either way we will never forget what we will see. Truth: we will never forget. (The Dads wholeheartedly agree!)

Great Idea, But Some Owners Need to Step Up I've had a mixed experience at Skiptown, a dog play area that's awesome in theory but ruined by some clueless owners. The space itself is great for dogs to socialize and play, but our last visit was a bust thanks to some inconsiderate people. As a vet tech, I was shocked when an owner freaked out and pulled my dog away from their bulldog just because they didn't understand how dogs play. Newsflash: if you don't know the difference between play and aggression, maybe don't bring your dog to a play area! Our beautiful husky puppy is a sweet little female who would never attack other people or dogs. She's a gentle soul who just wants to play and make friends. But some owners at Skiptown seem to think she's a threat just because of her breed or size. Some owners at Skiptown seem to think it's a "pet me" zone, where they can touch and handle other people's dogs without permission. And to make matters worse, some were drinking too much and chasing after our puppy. Skiptown needs to keep an eye on these individuals and monitor alcohol consumption to prevent this nonsense. Here's the deal: if you're gonna bring your dog to Skiptown, make sure you know what you're doing. Learn about canine behavior, body language, and play dynamics. Respect other dogs and their owners. And for goodness' sake, don't drink too much! Sadly, our experience was ruined by some inconsiderate owners, and we won't be back. Negative: 1. Irresponsible owners: Some owners at Skiptown lack understanding of canine behavior, body language, and play dynamics. 2. Disrespectful behavior: Owners touch and handle other people's dogs without permission. 3. Alcohol issues: Some owners drink excessively and chase after other dogs. 4. Lack of monitoring: Skiptown needs to better monitor alcohol consumption and owner behavior. Positive: 1. Great concept: Skiptown has a wonderful concept for a dog play area. 2. We have been members at Skiptown for over two years and have been coming here even longer. We live nearby, we're part of the community, and honestly this experience left us extremely disappointed and saddened. Today we came in with our dog as usual, and Amanda was at the front desk. She mentioned she was new and wasn't fully familiar with the system yet, which is completely understandable. I actually felt bad for her because she was clearly trying her best. The issue was not Amanda at all. The problem was Jeremy. Our dog's vaccine records had already been updated in the app days ago, but Amanda couldn't find them in the system. Instead of helping, Jeremy showed absolutely no interest in resolving the situation. We waited almost 20 minutes while trying to calmly explain and show multiple confirmations from the app proving everything had already been updated. We showed him everything he asked for, only for him to eventually say, "Nope, I don't see it, you can't come in," and basically send us away. What hurt the most was not even being denied entry, it was the way we were treated. The complete lack of empathy, the dismissive attitude, the "I don't care" energy from someone dealing with loyal members of two years was honestly shocking. I have never experienced that level of poor customer treatment at any other place. Skiptown has always felt like a welcoming environment, and honestly there aren't many places like it around here. That's exactly why this experience hurt so much. When you are a paying member, a regular face, and someone who genuinely supports the business, you expect at least basic respect and willingness to help. Jeremy's attitude completely ruined what should have been a simple situation. I sincerely hope management pays attention to this because people like Amanda deserve support and guidance, not to be left standing there while customers are treated poorly. read more

Skiptown's Doggie Daycare - A Home Away from Home for Gracie! I recently enrolled my dog, Gracie, in Skiptown's Doggie Daycare, and I couldn't be happier with the experience! From the moment we walked in, the warm and welcoming staff made Gracie (and me) feel right at home. Facilities: The daycare is spacious and clean, with designated areas for different dog sizes and energy levels. They have both indoor and outdoor play areas, which is a huge plus! Gracie absolutely loved running around in the yard and playing with the other dogs. They also have cozy nap areas for when the pups need a break. Staff: The staff is incredibly attentive and knowledgeable. They made sure to ask about Gracie's preferences, temperament, and any special needs. I was impressed by how well they handled all the dogs and maintained a fun but safe environment. It's clear they love dogs as much as the pet parents do! Activities: Skiptown offers plenty of activities to keep the dogs engaged, from group play sessions to one-on-one attention. They sent me pictures and updates at the end of the day, so I knew she was having a blast. Safety: I was impressed with their focus on safety. The staff monitors all interactions closely to make sure dogs play well together, and they maintain high standards of cleanliness. They also ensure all dogs are up to date on vaccinations, which gives me peace of mind. Overall: Skiptown Doggie Daycare exceeded my expectations in every way. Finding the Skipper service was a godsend. Here in Charlotte, I was required to relocate offices across town where I can't always walk my new dog during lunchtime. I suddenly stumbled upon the service in my neighborhood one day and asked about and boy am I so happy that I found! Getting set up on Skipper quickly has made this transition so much easier. The staff and all the walkers are incredible, and I can tell that my Fiona feels so comfortable and happy with them through the week. I just feel that the service is so amazing between the quick scheduling convenience using their extremely easy to use website or app (that's a huge benefit), and payments using the online walk bank are so easy to make and affordable considering the outstanding value. The immediate and thoughtful post-walk reports and photos from all their awesome dog walkers are great to get pushed to my phone during the afternoon (how do you provide so much friendly care in such a short amount of time? :) ). The peace of mind and convenience mentioned by others simply cannot be understated. As a connoisseur of canines, there is no better place to socialize for yourself or for your pup. They have so many different breeds and so many different brews. I can't even count how many beers are on tap, most are from local breweries. They also have wine and some specialty drinks. There are TVs so I can catch the game. They do pretty fun events and their trivia topics are fun. Also, get this: you don't have to clean up after your dog. They actually pay people to do poo duty. I can go with friends and not have to be worried about what my pup's getting into. While the bar is great, their daycare service is phenomenal. I can easily do everything I need to through the app, so my anxiety-ridden self doesn't have to talk to a human being. They send cute reports with pictures throughout the day as well. Skipper is an incredible service by people I really trust. Every dog walker is backed by a whole support team there to be sure everything goes smoothly and they fix any issues before it even happens. My dog loves his visits with Skipper while I am at work and I get cute photos of him around my neighborhood and a full report of what he did while the walker was there! I can tell they really care about my dog and know him well. It gives me peace of mind that my dog is taken care of while I work and he is happy and content when I come home. Honestly couldn't say enough good things about this place! I live in a tiny apartment and my dog is WILD. Luckily Skiptown is literally three blocks from us. I bring him to daycare at least twice a week and come to the bar basically every weekend just to burn some energy. He's always completely wiped afterwards. We've been to plenty of other dog parks but the biggest benefit for me is that Skiptown is clean. They monitor for messes constantly and step in if another dog is acting out.
