I've been eating at Skrimp Shack since it opened, and usually eat there several times a month. I'm very familiar with this restaurant, but after my last visit I will not be going back. Firstly, the service over the last two years has seriously declined; even before the pandemic. Some of the kids working there are VERY unprofessional in regards to attire and service. On many occasions I've witnessed them on their phones at the register with customers right in front of them. That leads to orders not being right, which I've experienced, and even worse missing food ‍. My worse experience was waiting in line literally for 30 mins, then another 25 mins for my food before I noticed several people who ordered after me were getting their food first. After like the six person I was visibly pissed and extremely annoyed. After inquiring about my food, it was brought to my attention that they were still waiting on a crab cake . So now I'm all of an hour into this S.Show so I asked for a refund. In all fairness, the manger did apologize and offered to still give me the food along with the refund but I was in my feelings and I didn't want that sh!t! CUT THE MF CHECK!!! (Digitally of course.) Now, I typically wouldn't worry about the money or even check to see if the refund processed, but I was pissed about how much time I waisted so I wanted my refund....lol After like 4 "business" days and not seeing it, I called the restaurant and spoke to another manager ‍. I eventually had to go to the restaurant and have that manager reprocess the refund. It processed that day Last night (12/7) y'all was the final straw, I waited in line with no other customers in the store for over 3 mins before I left. Now before you call me Mr. Impatient, three minutes might not seem like a long time, but it is when you're waiting for service and you're the only person waiting. So I left and went to Panera Bread to get one of those new flat bread pizza. That Margarita joint fiya , but the were closed They recently changed their hours due to new COVID restrictions. So after driving around telling myself to find something else, I went back to Skrimp Shack . I ordered what I thought I normally got, the Haddock dinner meal with sweet potato fries. Well, they just recently raised the prices on pretty much everything on the menu with no notice and changed the wording. I've always said, can I get the haddock meal and never did I unless they messed up the food, not expect to see 8 jumbo shrimp sitting sideways next to my fish. Nope, they were missing in action. After calling the store, they said the meal had changed to just the Haddock meal and along with the price and I would have to order the Haddock and shrimp meal. Some prices increased 30+%. I can't in good conscience pay more money for consistently declining service and product, because I can go on for days about the loose batter blues or the extra well done sweet potato fries. Please don't let review sway you from going there, especially if you've never been. You're not use to the old prices so you're good . This review was primarily based on their service because the food more often than not is good. Not great, but a decent little spot to get some fish and shrimp when you have the taste for it for at good price (Not anymore.) Don't take my word for it. New spot in Woodbridge. The food was good. The service was quick. I really enjoyed the hush puppies and not everyone can get those right. Went in during lunch and the line wasn't bad at all, the location may be the reason for that, it is in a shopping plaza that doesn't get a lot of traffic. Will definitely return. read more

I ordered online to skip the line as stated on the website to be told I hade to wait 45+ minutes while the store was almost empty. Had to wait that long with a child while other customers came in ordered and received their food. Try explaining that to a child. No one seemed to care or tried to expedite the order. This place is AMAZING! Finally a place that does seafood breading PROPERLY. It was not too hard...not too greasy...nicely seasoned. We ate scallops, shrimp, oysters, whiting...a bit of everything and ALL of it was very good. I had a special request and they were able to accommodate me without any hassles. The manager on duty was very kind and went the extra mile to make sure I was happy. I hope they are able to maintain their standards at the Skrimp Shack and hope that they not change in the future which is what usually happens after a place has been open a year or so. I've been to the Skrimp Shack 4 times and the order is always correct! I've tried the shrimp po boy, shrimp basket and shrimp dinner all with just the portions! This is a new establishment in the location formerly occupied by Five Guys Burgers. They're a seafood chain that's new to this area. Skrimp Shack has an assortment of seafood items, mainly fish, that's cooked to order and served hot. Since it's the only place I've been to that serves haddock, that's what I went with. The Haddock basket comes with 3 pieces of golden fried fish, a side(fried okra), and a drink (sweet tea) for $10.75. Not a bad deal at all. This location is new so it's running on optimum right now. I enjoyed my meal. The fish was moist and flaky and lightly seasoned. The fried okra was good(it's easy to mess this up) and the tea was delicious. I'll give another review when I try something else. This is a nice new alternative to burger joints in Prince William County. read more

I was really excited to see this place open up in the area, as I enjoy good seafood. I walked in on a weekday afternoon and the place was not busy. It looked very clean and nice inside with a huge menu display that is easy to read. However, there was no one at the front taking orders. I stood there for a good 5 mins without anyone acknowledging me. It was very awkward and I actually considered leaving. With that said, the guy was very polite once he came to take my order. I waited about 10 mins for my food. I ordered the skrimp and crab poboy with hot sauce and I did NOT enjoy it. It was just okay, I've definately had better. I was expectimg more based on the reviews. Though, my food made fresh and packed with shrimp, it had a strong seafood smell (not good), the shrimp was soggy and the hot sauce had very little flavor, it just tasted "hot". The shrimp basket was good, the oil is clean, like the food doesn't taste like it's confused (you know what mean, fries that think they are clams or whatever). Prices are ok, portions are large. I want to love this place. I really really do. First off the food is good. If I had to rate on food alone I would give a solid 4. I've had the whiting, Skrimp and whiting sandwich. I have no complaints with the food. BUT the wait, be prepared to wait and wait. I understand the place is new but the wait is just horrible. I don't mind waiting to order obviously sometimes the line is out the door but tonight I entered at 8:10 waited in line until 8:30 and I didn't get my food until 9:20. The food truck was in our area, just a short walk from my house. The reviews were good so I tried it. I ordered fried shrimp with mac & cheese, and a po-boy. The crust on the shrimp was lacy, crisp & brown. A really nice, spicy flavor embracing sweet, tender seaworthy freshness. The (mild) po boy had great flavor with a little kick. What I like is that it is fresh & cooked to order, never to see a heat lamp. What makes this food truck stand out is that they are focused on doing this well & they nail it. Probably one of the best seafood restaurants in the Woodbridge/Dumfries area! I came here about 2-3 weeks after they first opened on a Friday night and it was PACKED. The line was literally wrapped around and it looked like tons of people were waiting but I still decided to give it a try and wait. The order line ended up moving fairly quickly BUT I ended up waiting one hour to get our food which a bit disappointing. I took my food home to eat it and it was still fresh/hot and delicious! That's why even with the one hour wait, I'm giving it 4 stars. Their portions are very generous and everything tasted great!
