It's been a while since my last visit, and one of the biggest improvements I noticed was the new parking garage. There is plenty of parking now, which makes visiting much more convenient. They've also opened a new gaming section that is smaller and tucked away from the main casino floor. I liked having the option to play in a quieter area away from the larger crowds. The casino itself was clean, well-maintained, and had a good variety of games. The bar also had a great selection of drinks. I also noticed they're working on opening a hotel, which is an exciting addition. It will be nice to have the option to stay on-site once it's completed. I don't visit casinos very often, but this is one of the few that I genuinely enjoy. It's clean, modern, and has a nice atmosphere. Ladies and gentlemen, I have to say, "I'm so disappointed with this place right now." My birthday is on June 3rd, and I went to Sky River Casino thinking, "They better not give me a cup for my birthday." They didn't let me down! They literally, pushed me down! They gave me a piece of printout with a chance to win free play or something at the end of the month. I was instructed to bring the printout to the Players Club, fill in my email address and have it put into a clear container with God knows, how many other printouts. This was my second time here. The first time I didn't do so good. This time I did a lot better! They have some okay slots, most of the ones I wanted to play was already took. Tbh I didn't really get to explore any food places in there. Just went to the rest room, rewards place to get a card, and the bar. I didn't get any pics of the slots and tables cus I was busy playing but I did notice the restroom using some good brands or name brands. Like their sink is Dyson. Their toilet paper is cottenelle and their paper towels is Scott! And I also appreciate the fact their restroom stall doors ain't got no gaps to where I don't have to feel like someone watching me pee lol. We had so much fun here. When you walk in they ID you and you can walk over to the service desk and get a card. We had fun playing many of the machines and tables. We even won a few hundred dollars which is not typical because we feel that we never win. We had lunch at a burger place. The burgers were so delicious. It's been over twenty years since I have been in a casino (in Reno) and things have changed. All the slots have been supersized, are electronic and have what I assume are designed to be mesmerizing graphics, colors, sounds. This one story casino on the fringes of Elk Grove off of Highway 99 has I would guess over 1,000 such machines on their floor. I brought my aunt, who likes gambling, from out of state on a busy Saturday and she enjoyed herself. The pluses are that they have a big free parking lot. The casino is also fairly easy to get around, is disability accessible , and has large and spacious restrooms. The decor is high end (glass art chandeliers, leather banquette sofas in the bar). There is a lot of security at the doors, checking bags and on the floor as well as I'm sure behind closed doors with cameras. Security seemed tight. That's good. The biggest downside for me was the air quality. As this is an Indian casino and tribal law is in effect, there are no indoor smoking restrictions and the air was thick with smoke and perhaps some kind of masking freshener to cover it up which unfortunately didn't work. The ventilation game was not strong. I had to put on a mask quickly. They also have a cigar bar which I think was the main culprit. I feel so sorry for the people who work here. I didn't feel well from the air here after only a couple hours. They don't have a buffet (as my Aunt noted with displeasure) but they did have several different options of prepared and ready-made food items to eat in a light, bright, and appealing food court (Mexican, Asian, Italian, sandwich shop) as well as a more formal sit-down steakhouse. The food court area does not allow smoking which is a plus. The prices at the food court have parity with local restaurants. My aunt had a margarita which she said was nice and strong ($9) and spent $50 on slots and got a return of $30 so not a huge loss and she had fun. read more

I was the only person entering who was harshly patted down and my handbag was thoroughly searched. I was asked for my identification when I went to get a players card by someone who did not identify initially herself, and I was treated as if I were a fugitive. "Christina" only identified herself as a casino security person only when I asked. Because of this impersonal treatment, I feared for my life as it appeared I had been profiled as well as the hostility of the security staff as they approached me. I was profiled because of my ethnicity and appearance, apparently being similar to someone who had been banned from Sky River according to "Christina." My husband and I are retired and we stopped by Sky River thinking we would be welcomed like at other casinos, but became scared by the treatment I received, because we are not from the area. Staff are always friendly and good about checking in on our table. Seating is great for 2 or larger parties. Sky River happens to be one of the newest casinos in the area and it's located in the beautiful city of Elk Grove right off of the 99 freeway. It's probably one of the most convenient casinos to come to since it is right off the freeway and easy to get to. Sky River isn't too small but it also isn't the biggest casino. They have a few restaurants, small food court, cigar bar, tons of slots, good selection of table games and so on. I wish I could tell you how the food is but I'm usually so focused and occupied that I literally starve myself when I'm there lol. I have a love/hate relationship with this casino because some days I'm winning on the slots and other days I lose so bad and want to leave crying lol. But this happens to be the first casino that I've ever won a handpay at and that alone is a big plus!! They have all of the "Lock It Link" slot machines that I love, they aren't as tight as the ones at Thunder Valley and do give good bonuses. Aside from losing money there often the other downsides would be the parking. While the parking lot is pretty spacious, it does fill up quick and if you don't come early or you come on the weekends you may find yourself circling the lot a few times. Other downsides are there is no hotel and no buffet. Also, it's hard to get free play here. I did read that they have plans to expand and build a hotel and even center sometime in 2027, so that will be nice. Overall, it's your average casino and given that it's still pretty new I will cut them some slack. I recommend coming here to check it out but don't expect too much. I'm sure in a few years it may be on the level of Thunder Valley and Cache Creek but for now it's good for its convenient location. read more

I really enjoyed my time here. High roller room was a little on the smaller scale, but off 200- won close to 2k not bad and then off to roulette and another 600, feeling pretty good! The dealers were friendly and the food was delicious. Security at door, tons of ample parking and various table games and slot machines. There are so many places to eat! The bathrooms are clean. They are working on building a hotel soon and a spa and more parking. I'd be down to spend the night and have a good time for a day! I do however wish there was a non smoking area, some places are super heavy, my hair smelled so horrible!! For those of you wondering, I am not much of a casino person nor have I engaged in much gambling during my adult life. However, my late mother loved going to casinos as she went any chance she could. Going back to this casino, ever since this place made its debut back in the summer of 2022, I figure why not give it a try and see what it has to offer. This is none other than "Sky River Casino" which happens to be the very first casino to be build in the County of Sacramento; the other close casinos are "Thunder Valley" in Placer County, "Cache Creek" in Yolo County, "Jackson Rancheria" in Amador County, and "Redhawk Casino" in El Dorado County. Located in Elk Grove and directly to the right of Highway 99 and just north of Grant Line Rd., this casino is situated at the same site where the proposed (and now ill-fated) "Lent Ranch Mall" was supposed to be built in the mid-2000's. This undeveloped land sat for nearly 15 years before Sky River Casino was built. As far as the exterior layout, the parking lot is spacious but at the same time, quite confusing as there were several raised islands throughout. However, there are enough spots to accommodate thousands of guests as well as a free shuttle that runs 24/7 that drop you off at the main entrance. As for the interior layout, this building is roughly 100,000 square feet complete with over 2,000 slot machines, 80+ table games, and entertainment throughout. Surprisingly, many people skip the gambling and come for the dining. This is where you have the option of several major restaurants/lounges including "SR Prime Steakhouse", "32 Brews Street", "Dragon Beaux", and "The Humidor". There is also an open food court type area that includes all types of cuisines including Mexican, burgers, pizza, Japanese, Vietnamese, boba, American, and other options that offers coffee, breakfast, and desserts. As for my food experience, it was average for us as I ate sushi while my lady opted for chicken and brussels sprouts. My sushi was made delicious and set me back $17 for the roll with a self-serve fountain drink. However the chicken my lady had was lukewarm and a little on the drier side. I would recommend going to some of the higher end places for a better dining experience. But the food area was quite spacious as I did not feel cramped in any way. And as for the overall machines and tables that this place offers, there are a ton of options. Everything that ranges from the 1¢ slots and up as well as several tables that include blackjack, craps, baccarat, and much more. I ended up partaking in the 25¢ digital slot machines where I put in $5 and walked out with $50. So at least I walked out with more than when I came in. The payouts here can vary greatly with high minimums. However, I didn't encounter many cocktail waitresses as nobody approached us in the 30 or so minutes that we were at the machines. One final thing I wanted to mention is that the lingering smell of cigarette smoke can be overwhelming for many people. This casino does not have a smoke-free area as other casinos do. However, I hope as time goes on that this place will eventually get a dedicated hotel, shopping area, and more nearby entertainment. Since it is a gamble if you come up winning or losing, "Sky River Casino" is a nice addition to this part of Sacramento County. My rating, just an average three stars. read more
