    My empty Moscow mule!!!
    Lisa M.

What a night!!! We had a 10/10 night here at Stoney's on Thursday night. What luck to be in town for a math conference and get to join the locals for such a fun night. We got there around 7pm to get settled and a drink before joining the salsa and bachata lesson. Let me tell you, the owners and managers saw us coming from a mile away. They clocked us as "tourists" immediately. They gave us a tour, reserved a couple of tables, and treated us to a shot to start our night with a bang. What a welcome!! All ten of us felt like celebrities and truly cherished. We had such a great time dancing through the lesson. There was a great DJ that was timing the music with the lesson. All my partners were so respectful and kind as we were dancing. I felt safe and welcomed. I got a strawberry Moscow mule from the bar and it was delicious! The bartender was great! After we were done dancing, we moved to the front of the house and did Karaoke. It was throwback night, so we were only allowed to sing throwback songs from the 80s and 90s. I thought that was funny and stringent for no reason. I loved it. We sang I'm real by Jarule and JLo. It was embarrassing and so fun! The drinks were $12, the fries were reasonable, and we tipped the MC for karaoke. What a fun night!!! I can't recommend this place enough for when you're in Sacramento on a Thursday night. Pro tip, I think the cover started at 8 or 9pm. So get there early to avoid an extra charge.

Great atmosphere, friendly staff. Best place to have a birthday party and dance. Great owners Kevin and Barbara.

Wow $12.99 prime rib dinner that comes with veggie and mash, how can you turn that down??? We arrived around 5pm on a Friday night. There were quie a few people there, ordering the same. The prime was perfectly cooked to our choices: medium, medium-rare, and rare. We also ordered the fried pickles and mushrooms... those for excellent... a must try. They have salsa, line-dancing, and karaoke. It's hard to believe that they have been there for 30 years! Around 10pm, there was a long line of folks trying to get in. There is a cover after a certain time. Street parking only.

Fun place to go line dancing. Wednesday and Friday get super crowded since they're 18+ nights, Saturday is a little better. Haven't tried food here but their drinks are alright for some liquid courage.

I enjoyed $10 rib eye day on Thursday. Came with preset sides of mashed potatoes and zucchini. Not too shabby for the price. Works like a cafe where you order at the register and then pick up at the window and you serve yourself. Lady at the window was super sweet and nice. Happened to come here when they were hosting a niners event. The vibes were great, and inside was pretty spacious as they host salsa nights or line dancing. Heard they do Prime Rib nights on Fridays and Saturdays so I'll be back for that.

Stoney's in Sacramento knows how to do prime rib right! The cut was perfectly cooked, juicy, and full of rich, savory flavor; absolutely melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The garlic fries were crispy, golden, and packed with just the right amount of garlicky goodness, making them the perfect side. The spring mix salad was fresh and light, balancing out the meal beautifully. The atmosphere was laid-back yet welcoming, and the service was top-notch. If you're craving a top-quality prime rib dinner, Stoney's is the place to go. Highly recommend!

Decided to check this place out as it was one of the only results that popped up under "country bars in Sacramento". We were mainly intrigued to go here for their amazing $12 Prime rib special from 5pm to 6pm. You guys see the receipt, it's legit! The prime rib plate was very tasty and cooked perfect to our liking. We also got regular french fries and decided to also try their beer battered fried mushrooms. Mushrooms were surprisingly super yummy, especially dipped in one of their spicy, orange sauce they provided us. Everything including a Shirley temple and beer came out to $55. I honestly thought that price was well worth it. This was probably the first time in a while that I can justify a meal actually worth the price in Sacramento! We got there right after they opened, so there wasn't much of a vibe going on yet. It was our first time to a place like this, so we did expect to feel a little out of place; UNTIL we had a chance to meet with the owner Kevin. Although we had only a short conversation with him, he made us feel welcomed and encouraged us to come out again to see his dance moves that earned him the nickname "2-stepin Kevin". He also gave us some backstory about the place itself which was interesting. They taught a line dancing lesson around 7pm. It was nice to see a bunch of people enjoying the vibes and just having fun. Kevin was right when he told us Sacramento needed a place like this. Definitely will be coming back for that prime rib special and to try other things on their menu... and possibly actually have the courage to join in on the line dance lesson.

Fun place to hang out. Line dancing floor and we had some food. It was bar food so it was good.

Fun night out at "Family Night" at Stoney's!

I can not say enough good things about Stoney's Rockin Rodeo! My husband and I, our 16yr old daughter and six of her friends have been going country line dancing at "Family Night" most every Sunday from 5-8pm. It is sooooo fun! The staff are amazing! From Charity at the front entrance to the amazing DJ, Will, the fantastic dance teachers and everyone else who works there! We truly feel like part of the family when we show up! The guests at "family night" are young, old and everything in-between and everyone has a blast! If you are looking for a fun night out with the family, look no farther!

This was my 2nd time at Stoney's, and this time, my friends and I came for $10 Prime Rib Night on Saturdays! We didn't go into it with the highest of expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised how good the prime rib was! It also came with a side of veggies and mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were creamy, and I loved how the jus was on the side. I ordered my prime rib medium well, and it was just how I like it! Service was great, and the food came out very quickly! We also came for line dancing lessons, but they seemed to only teach an intermediate dance which was a bummer, so we opted to listen to karaoke, but definitely will be back!

    Family line dancing lessons!

Loved that they had family night line dancing on Sunday! Kids were $15 each but you got a $5 off kids meal coupon for each kid (under 16). Hubby wanted all the lessons to be slower. I had a blast!

Sadly Disappointed. Stoney's has a reputation in Sacramento for being a fun square-dancing bar that locals have been recommending since I moved here. I finally gathered the courage and my girls to go square dancing on a Friday night. We checked the website to make sure that we got there in time for the lessons. First issue was that the website was wrong. The square dancing lessons didn't start until about 8:30, which created a big gap of time from when we arrived. This wasn't a big deal because I wanted to try the food for Yelp. This was my next mistake because we all got bad food poisoning. We ordered three different dishes: Shredded Pork Quesadilla, Mac and Cheese, and Chicken Fingers with Fries. The food was okay for bar food but definitely worth getting food poisoning. I was not drinking that night as the designated driver so I know that it was the food since we shared the food. I will not be coming back unfortunately nor will I be recommending it to friends. Maybe the locals skip the food or know something that I don't?

They had usually kept the sound levels here reasonable, but one show I attended was louder than usual. Afterwards, I have had ringing in my ears for the past TWELVE WEEKS. While I didn't think much of it during the show, I obviously would not have gone had I known it was going to cause this much damage. The venue should have posted a warning about the sound being above safe levels, and clearly advised patrons to use hearing protection and made that easily available. I learned too late that a sound level meter would have clearly shown that the sound levels were loud enough to cause permanent hearing damage. I'm normally the last person to complain about sound being too loud, but it's simply inexcusable that any show in a public venue would cause hearing damage! I have sent printed letters about this to the venue, its parent company and the management of the band. I have not received any response at all, not even an apology. I live very close to this venue and had attended many shows, but I no longer can after this. I greatly value my hearing and am now spending much time and money in efforts to minimize the damage this one show caused me. I was very happy to have this place open so close to me, but now I can't wait to move.

I've only been to two daytime shows (Sad Summer and Summer School Tour) so I can't say what it's like to to go a regular nighttime concert. The shows I went to were standing room only, and they were on very hot days. I will say the venue did an excellent job keeping everyone cool and hydrated. For Sad Summer it was over 110 degrees, they had setup a white tent, had misters, plenty of free water and a few large trash cans filled with water so you could wet a cooling rag (they also provided new towels for those who didn't bring one). They let you bring in one empty water bottle or a sealed one. You were allowed to bring in sunscreen, but it had to be lotion, it couldn't be aerosol. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It's definitely not my favorite venue but it is new, so there may be some improvements.

Ace of Spades is primarily a general admission, standing-room-only venue. I understand that's part of its model, but what I struggle with is the cost of having access to a seat. Reserved seating can run $100-$150 per seat, which feels excessive. As someone with a chronic back issue, it's frustrating that the option to sit down during a concert comes with such a steep additional cost. Basic accessibility and comfort shouldn't feel like a luxury upgrade. There were also a few moments during Alex Isley's set when the sound briefly blipped while she was singing. Music didn't stop, singing sounded off. It wasn't constant, but it was noticeable enough to pull you out of the experience. On a positive note, the Good Luck Lounge was a great addition. The atmosphere was welcoming, the DJ was excellent, and the finger foods were surprisingly good. It definitely enhanced the overall experience before the show. The staff at both AOS & GLL were excellent! That said, the seating situation remains a major drawback for me. Unless it's an artist I really, really want to see, Ace of Spades isn't a venue I would choose. The performers are often great, but the overall experience doesn't justify the premium pricing for something as simple as a place to sit.

So. . .my sis and I were looking for somewhere to have drinks and appetizers and this came up on…read moreour search. We arrived and it wasn't what we expected. Not a bad thing, just different. This place seems like it's more for the people who live in the neighborhood and all know each other other. When we pulled up we could hear lots of yelling before we even got out of the car LOL. We walked in and it was like 10 people there excited about the football game they were watching. Although everyone was super nice, I felt like an outsider. Again, not a bad thing, it just seemed like they all knew each other and I was a stranger in their environment. It kinda gave me Cheers vibes LOL Maybe one day I'll return and actually spend time in there but I just didn't feel like we fit that night, plus, it wasn't quite what we were looking for, so we left. I recommend this place to those who like small, intimate spaces who are not shy and open to making new friends. This seems like a really cool place for close friends to hang out. *I gave 3 stars based on it not meeting what I searched
