We had a large party with older people & several young kids--they were patient & accommodating to our large party, even when the kids spilled water all over the table. the service was Excellent, very attentive & didn't have to wait for anything. I would give it 4.5 stars if I could. Sushi tasted very fresh--no fishy flavor present. Very generous amount served. Total cost $55 before tip. I work in the food industry myself, a recommendation for restaurant recommendation is to refrigerate sushi to-go orders for food safety concerns. My sushi was sitting out when I picked it up and I still had 1hr ahead of me before I was planning on eating it--I brought a cooler and ice packs. Beautiful restaurant, even if it is small. The people working there were all wonderful and attentive. Unfortunately the food was pretty flavorless. The eggrolls were too greasy & didn't have enough filling & just weren't like any regular egg rolls you get elsewhere. The California rolls that you get in the grocery store taste better than theirs.My friend ordered the chicken curry & said it was flavorless. I so wanted to be able to give a great review because we liked the waiter so much. But the food just didn't cut it. So sorry to say. Maybe they should hire a new chef & try to save this place. read more

The family running the place goes above and beyond to make you feel like a valued guest and each time my colleagues and I returned they welcomed us back like old friends. We were practically lunchtime fixtures at the back corner table. The menu offers a variety of options, and what's even better is that the prices are incredibly reasonable for the quality you receive. You can't beat the lunch and dinner specials. Everything I tried was fresh and delicious. If you're looking for a place with not just delicious food but also a warm and inviting ambiance, this family-owned gem is the perfect spot. I can't recommend it enough! Amazing!! Picked up our lunch this afternoon and I witnessed the Matriarch of Sky meticulously pack and label my take-out. The Poke Salad was crisp, fresh and tasty. I chose the ahi tuna as the main protein which came with garnishment of pickled seaweed, spicy tuna, pickled onions, creamy krab, and avocado surrounding a spring mix. The Fire roll had some heat! Spicy tuna and jalapeno topped a creamy California roll and fire sauce. The Hawaiian roll was spicy tuna goodness topped with a sweet ponzu. My wife's favorite. Hard not to sample some shrimp tempura. Never as good as fresh. My commute back home, plus plating did it a disservice, I'm sure. Nevertheless, I'll be returning. Can't wait to try their Kama. Needed a quick, easy, relatively affordable place to eat on the way home from Lego Land. Was with the kids and saw this place was kid friendly. Staff was very courteous, attentive to my kids' needs and even hooked them up with some colored pens and coloring book pages. Little weird bonus things: hot sake bottles were designed to hold without burning your fingerprints off. They had Tamari (gluten free soy sauce) and they had "chopstick cheaters" which were fun for the kids. The kids meals were only $8. win! The food came out quickly. Family of 4 and the bill was under $100 with tip. The only complaint I have is that my roll seemed very lazily put together. It was not aesthetically pleasing whatsoever. Would come back though. I am thrilled that they have opened! All 3 of my roles were amazing. I got the Fantasy Roll, Sweet Salmon Roll and Salmon Avocado Roll clearly I love Salmon. I will definitely be making this my go to sushi place. What blew my mind was the customer service, I scheduled my order and planned to pick it up around 2. Since it is a fairly new business I do not want to be too hard on it as they still seemed to be figuring things out, especially with the wait staff. The night we went they were pretty busy....the sushi came out ok, but the wait staff seemed untrained and inattentive. Prices were on the high side for the quantity/quality, but then most restaurants seem intent on passing on their added inflation costs and more to us as the consumer....case in point is the Cohn group charging a 4% service fee at most of their restaurants...on top of tax and tip. We do love sushi and will give Sky Sushi another try in a month or so, when they hopefully have worked our their service issues. read more

This place is such a hidden gem in Vista! We came for a date night on a Friday and the food did not disappoint. All of the service staff and the owner are so lovely and nice and welcoming. We had a bento box and a sushi roll and both were delicious. Highly recommend the spicy lemon roll! Will return over and over again. Definitely come here! read more

Stopped for some To-Go dinner. It was pretty quiet inside. The guy that took my order was really friendly and patient while I waited. I got the Melrose Roll, Twinkle Roll and California Roll. The guy told me it was a 10-15 minute wait and they would rush to get it out. I waited in my car so I could watch memes on ig. I must have lost track of time because the cashier came out with my order. Very nice of them to bring it out to my car after I forgot! The sushi was pretty big and tasted fresh. This is my new go to sushi spot in Vista. The staff were so friendly! The fish quality is excellent, rolls are beautiful, good mix of authentic and more Americanized stuff. Reasonably priced too But what really put this place a step above was that they had real wasabi. Not that horseradish fake stuff, like real imported wasabi root from Japan. The lady gave it to us for free, which is super generous considering that stuff is really expensive usually! Awesome time. read more

Update. We've gone several times, but the last visit will be our last. I brought my elderly mother in for lunch. She ordered a chicken bowl, asked what sort of veggies come with it. She was told cabbage, and we both said no cabbage! She can't have cabbage. We discussed it to make sure the server understood, she said she'd let the kitchen know. Meanwhile, brought us the miso soup, we both needed an extra napkin. The table behind us also asked for more napkins. The guy brought us 3 napkins and told us to be careful. ? What?! I don't need your advice buddy, just a napkin. The attitude was not ok. Then our bowls come, my mother's chicken covered in cabbage. I pull all the cabbage off for her, and now the chicken is grilled but really grilled, like black. She couldn't chew it. So, the server asks us how it is, and of course my mother tells her, she apologized for the cabbage said nothing about the chicken. My mother ate some of the rice, and we asked for the check. Nothing deducted, I paid, and I tipped one dollar less than I would have usually, because they didn't handle any of it well. Done with Sky Sushi. read more

Summary: I know how hard it is to start a restaurant with everything going on and I like supporting them especially startups so why the owner would be so rude, employ creepy staff and sell such low quality food is really baffling to me. ... I was excited to try this new place so we ordered a few rolls. In all honestly the service was fast but... the quality was so very disappointing. The rolls looked like they were hasily prepared wish gave the effect of having been thrown in a bag, shaken around and dumped in the container. Anemic portions too with thin slithers of fish and lots of rice filler to make up the bulk. The wasabi was also fake. I initially thought it was I piece of luminous green chewing gum stuck in there. I was also disturbed by the sushi chef on duty that night. He couldn't keep his eyes off me which made my skin crawl and made me feel very uncomfortable. I called the owner. Rude and insolent. Dont know what the other reviews are all about to think this is anything but substandard rubbish. All I can honestly say of this place is that their fare centers on pushing moderately priced garbage "sushi" with a side of rudeness and topped of with a mental undressing by the chef. Maybe ok for some but not me. Everything went in the trash...Gross. read more

I have no complaints about the service whatsoever- the staff was lovely and they should be commended. The service sector can be a tough job. I do have a major, major issue with the sushi. I need to emphasize that sushi means vinegared rice, and the rice seemed like it was not prepared properly for sushi but seemed like cooled white rice, which puts the rolls here in the category of rice rolls rather than sushi. It's a shame, because everything else was a real winner. Whoever does the recipe here may want to change up this major foundational mistake with their recipe. read more

I ordered one of the lunch combos to go expecting it to include everything listed from this screen shot of the menu taken directly from the restaurant's website. I noticed my order was missing the miso soup, so I called and let them know. The woman on the phone told me that's no longer offered with take out. I told her that wasn't mentioned on the menu. She argued with me that it was and I was looking in the wrong place. She even laughed and said she can make an order of the miso for me to pick up separately, then the call ended. Yum! Great customer service like holy moly we didn't order any appetizers because if we do we never eat our entrees. But our server brought us out some miso soup in the mean time. Which was nice because it was kinda chilly. The dynamite roll is bomb, spicy but BOMB! We also tried the Andre's roll, RBV Roll, and Mango Hulala. The fish taste sooo fresh too. Wow this place REALLY impressed me! I've had a lot of sushi in my lifetime, but I don't know if I've ever had any fresher than from here! It was like every piece was just cut off the fish itself. So soft and fresh. No hint of fishiness. The colors of the ingredients were so bright. The gyoza were huge too. The packages had handwritten smiley faces on them, and the people were so nice and helpful! So sweet. Lastly the prices are the lowest I've seen anywhere around here. We had some rolls and some sashimi and all the fish we had was fresh and tender. They have a large variety of sushi rolls, plates and appetizers. I felt that the staff was genuinely happy to serve us. Some sake would have been the cherry on top but no alcohol here. read more
