I had high expectations for this restaurant based upon the marketing material displayed around the Doubletree hotel it is situated atop of. How wrong could i be. Menu was adventurous, but executed poorly. Timing atrocious based on being served main course whilst still eating the appetizer. The order was taken incorrectly, and despite the inconsistency being bought to the servers attention, nothing, not even an apology was forthcoming. Arlington VA Doubletree Hotel Skydome lounge. Service at the hotel and restaurants was excellent but the management of the Skydome is extremely negligent. While the view is great, Smokers are allowed to drop their ashes on the carpet at will; despite it being a fire hazard in a room with only one elevator exit with limited access. Smokers are also allowed to dance with their cigarettes threatening to burn or damage the clothing of other dancers. I pointed this out to management which took no action so I had to leave for common sense sake. One last point: if your dining in the lounge lasts past 9pm on a Friday or Saturday, $10 per person is automatically added to your bill. read more

The views of Washington, DC are amazing! That's why this place got two stars. Otherwise, I would have only given it one! After that everything else is ok at best. Food was "Eh" and way overpriced for what you got. Shoestring potatoes?! Come on! What did you get the rejects from McDonalds down the street?! Drink prices were about right for the place, but if they didn't charge a $10 cover after 10PM, it would have been better. I'd suggest they dress the place up with table linens and good curtains. You could have a great place if you gave it more atmosphere. You're not that at from better places to eat, drink and have a good time with your friends. The potential of this place is off the charts. The rotating dome is a unique and attractive selling point for this establishment. The view at night is beautiful. I'm not sure who owns/operates this place (if it's the hotel or a private owner, I'm assuming the hotel) But the amount of money and clientel that could be brought to this place is lost with half-way decent food, cheesy karoke and salsa themed nights. The menu is on a flip stand at your table and the service is nothing to brag about. With the unique aspect this place has over every establishment in the area, the whole place is going to waste. There are certainly other roof top lounge options within DC that are closer to multiple landmarks, but none offer a similarly broad vantage point as Skydome. Unlike some prior reviewers, I had no issues making a reservation for two via e-mail. If you have a food preference that requires accommodation, note that the menu online may not be current, as I found out upon arrival. My companion needed to avoid dairy, and we were able to find a few options. I ordered the pork schnitzel, which turned out well; moist and not heavily breaded. My companion ordered the kobe beef burger. This was good, but not memorable. Dessert was the triple chocolate cake; although it was nine dollars, we ended up ordering it again due to how well crafted it was. Would I return? Yes, for a special occasion. Absolutely amazing view of DC, have been to several revolving restaurants in my life but this is my favorite! Food is delicious, but it's pricey so I wouldn't be eating there every week however its nice on occasion! The severs are very nice but we had to flag them down to get refills and put orders in, in fairness they were very busy with two birthday parties so might have just been that night. The views high up in the Skydome Lounge are amazing!!! It's beautiful to see the city lights at night and the Washington Monument and The Capitol. Even though I've been living in Arlington for a year now, it still doesn't stop amazing me. My friend brought me here after having a bad day at work and she didn't disappoint me. We sat by the window and as we talked and drank our beer I noticed that we were no longer by the window but by the bar area! Yes, the restaurant rotates! The food is decent. I had the roasted chicken with mac & cheese. It was good. I was here more for the views of the city and the company I was with though. :) It's a great place to bring a first date or someone you want to impress! The view in this revolving glass walled restaurant and lounge is fantastic on a clear night. Ask for a table by the windows although all of the tables are positioned well. It does not revolve very fast so other than trying to read and eat you should be fine even if you are motion sensitive. The wine runs about $10-15 per glass. The menu is varied and decent. The wild mushroom appetizer was large and cooked well, but without seasoning. Still very good, just kind of plain. Most of the appetizers were in the $10-15 range. The hanger steak was very good. It is about $27. It is nice place to gather with friends for the view and/or eat dinner. read more

First of all, the view is magnificent!.....if you want to go somewhere nice with that certain someone special to have a nice evening over a glass of wine, this is a great location! OK here's the rest: Drinks-good but pricy, table wait staff-not real hands on-saw out water guy way more than our waitress-just went to the bar to get our drinks after while.... Food-brought up from hotel restaurant so it takes a while to get to your table-menu is pretty limited but the choices are decent! (um, burgers are made from frozen preformed patties-don't bother ordering anything under medium!-bad choice for the restaurant in this setting!) I always wanted to try the Fri night DJ party ($10 cover after 9:30pm)-it failed my expectations, it felt like I was at a wedding dance with the wedding popular line dancing being played more than a couple of times in the 4 hours the DJ was on (kept waiting for the chicken dance). Overall, pricy, GREAT view, setting is always nice and quiet & romantic (before 9pm). I'll return for the dinner ambience but I think I'll skip the DJ party time-unless I'm having my wedding reception there. The hotel also has comedy night @ 7pm and 10pm-I think next time I'll do dinner then take in a show! This lounge/restaurant is at the top of the Double Tree Hilton in Pentagon City. It is at the top of a tower of sorts, and the floor rotates 360 so all dinners get a beautiful view of Washington DC. Besides the view, the food is decent (I liked the Mac and Cheese) but way to over priced. The drinks are poorly made and also over priced, but I guess they justify the prices because of the nice view. The decor of the place is tacky, patterned floors that you would see in a Denny's, the clientele is guests of the hotel, so lots of families and traveling business men. The service is also very slow, but the staff is friendly though. There is a center tv holder that hangs down, it holds 4 TVs, showing shows such as NFL and Jeopardy. I'd say its worth a try if you are in the neighborhood, even if just for a drink and the view. read more

Was staying in Doubletree for a few nights and decided to jump up to the Skydome one night for dinner. All in all, I'd go back. Not sure if I like the sensation of spinning around while eating dinner, but it wasn't too bad - especially if you keep your eyes on the DC skyline. We live about a mile or so from the hotel that houses the Skydome Lounge. We went out for a few drinks and a few shared plates. We're told the drink menu is relatively new. The drinks we had were both very good and reasonably priced. The spinach salad with ice-cold goat cheese shaved over the top was also quite good. It's a little hard to get to. Not to mention the floor rotates so where ever you sit you enjoy the entire view with out interrupting dinner. The menu was OKAY. I wanted something light so I stuck with an appetizer, gyro flat bread that was okay as well. My table had a wide variety of food and everyone agrees that it was a small amount to be so expensive. Nope, nope, nope. The only thing this place has going for it, is the view. The view from this rotating restaurant is pretty amazing. The hotel and surrounding business could really class it up with some rooftop gardens, but that doesn't impact my rating. The small menu doesn't impact my rating, what does is how terrible the food is! Service was adequate, the wait staff could clean up a bit and act like they enjoy being there. (The patrons could remove their ball caps and were closed toed shoes too!) And it was loud! My god, was it loud. My wife had a table for two and had to lean close just to have a normal conversation. We had the potato crusted crab balls, and meh... it was ok, they were cold (my wife bit into a frozen one). Once pointed out, it was corrected and warm ones were brought out. Then we tried the ahi tuna. Portions were small, not full of flavor, and the flavor that was there was too fishy... a huge turnoff. Then we tried the fig-bacon salad, not bad! It had the right amount of sweetness balanced with the right amount of acidity. Then we tried the kobe burger with the $4 thick sliced bacon option. Yuck! The burger, although cooked properly was nothing more than a frozen "bubba burger" with a NO KIDDING 3/4" slice of bacon on it! I think we left the bacon realm and entered ham territory, but alas it wasn't cooked properly and it was tough and chewy. So, bottom line. Go, take an out-of-towner, get a table and have a mediocre cocktail and appetizer. Take a ride around the loop to see the views, and then -like me- don't ever go back, there's a five guys around the corner. read more

So this place is interesting. Even if you are there before the DJ comes on they charge you $10. So you can be sitting and eating dinner and they will charge you $10 after 9pm. Not cool. Also there's this manager there that's a true prickstick. He walks to each table and drops that $10 addition to your bill just in case you think otherwise.The bartenders however are excellent. The drinks are tasty and they are very friendly. I'd go back if I'm in VA again and looking for a spot to hit up after 12. If you go there for dinner and have no intentions on staying late; get outta there before 9pm. read more

The service here was horrible. We pre-ordered a fixed menu since it was a large party and they messed up the order. The steaks were not cooked correctly and one guest did not receive her vegetarian meal. Then we were told that with large parties all steaks are cooked the same temperature which was not told to us in advance and also not true because the steaks were cooked at several temperatures when we received our food. Some had rare and some had well done. I have never heard of this rule at any other restaurant. Not everyone can eat or wants to eat rare steak. When I finally did receive my food it was just ok. So, I would have given this place 3 stars, but they saved themselves. To start, no hostess, but the place is fairly small, so, I was seated within 5 minutes. Not bad, but not good just standing there to be seated. Once seated, the service was very good! Very timely and efficient. I ordered the NY Strip, it was cooked perfectly and the sides were excellent. The steak must have been a lower grade, fatty, tough and alot of grizzle. Had I ordered a decent protein, it would have been a perfect evening, other than the wildly children that I would not have expected for a restaurant of this price point or parents that don't now how to handle there children. Stopped here for dinner while we were staying in the hotel. The main course food was outstanding (I had the Kobe Burger), and the view was unique with the rotating restaurant. However, the service was painfully slow. Even ordering dessert took 20 minutes or so, and all we ordered was a slice of cheesecake (delivered still partially frozen) and a slice of cake. For a restaurant with a limited menu and not much seating, service shouldn't be that slow. I might go back again, but it probably would not be my first choice. read more

The place was not full at all only two tables sat and she acted like putting us at a four person table was inconvenient to guests who might come (not actual reservations).
