We went there for the last days of our living in this DC area. After 9pm, they charge $10 for entry and have a dress code. However the night view of DC area is worth for it!! At lease for drinking after 9pm, menu, service and music are good enough. We had really nice time :) read more

The view from here is one of the best in the city! Look, if you're looking for a 5 star restaurant, this isn't your place. Lower your expectations. If you go looking for a rooftop bar style place with a great view and a good happy hour, then you will love this place. I am only giving this place a 1 star because the view is incredible. Besides that the staff there is awful/rude, the food is terrible. I was there getting an average and pricey dinner and all of a sudden a DJ starts blaring awful music and the middle of the room turned into this weird dance party. 5 minutes before that, the manager had come on the microphone and said anybody staying will have to pay 5$ per person since there will be a DJ. They actually charge you extra for loud obnoxious music during the dinner without knowing that when you sit down. I would actually recommend checking this place out though because it was impressive with how bad everything was. I was not even mad at the end of the dinner. I can hands down say this was the worst run restaurant I have ever been to in my life but something that everyone should experience at least once. read more

First time coming here and the place is really cool, and it does indeed rotate! The cover charge was $10. The music is great, the atmosphere great, service is great, the crowd -- not so much. Maybe it's just one of those nights. I'm giving it 3 stars because the place could be so much better with a little bit of redecorating and upgrades. The sound system is bad. You can tell they haven't invested much in it. It sounded like an 80s boombox. I will definitely come back and give it another shot. This place is a joke! I was only here because the bar in the hotel was closed. I've stayed at this hotel numerous times in the last 12 years and I've never come to the Skydome lounge. I know now why is never come here. The maitre d trys to give the impression of a 5 star restaurant, but it is far from it. First of all no 5 star restaurant has no beer on Draft. They only had bottles, and that's start they give you, never offered a chilled glass. I ordered the shrimp tacos and an order of fries. The shoestring fries were far from hot, probably sat under a light with all the rest of the fries. Three mini shrimp tacos for $12.75. They were not worth half of that price. . Thank GOD I get a discount. still not worth it. Even people sitting around me were sending their food back. Great view, nice staff, but food was not even good. read more

THE worst service ever! We will not go back because of the bad service!! It was my birthday and my husband "tried" to surprise me with a cake. However, the waiter forgot it twice. In front of me my husband told the the guy "can you PLEASE bring her cake now!". He also took forever to bring our food. I'm an Arlingtonian and this is my first time at the skydome. My boyfriend surprised me for my Birthday/Valentines day dinner. The artisan cheese was delish and the pork buns was delish. The filet mignon and mash potatoes was overall good, but a little salty. The desserts were good too. I do think it was a little expensive, but it was good. Visited on a Friday night at around 8pm. It wasn't very busy (immediate seating), but was quite (almost uncomfortably) loud. As everyone else has already shared, the view is really spectacular and worth visiting/ grabbing a drink for. Service was fairly good, and I was surprised at how quickly the food arrived. Food wise, I tried the pork chop and found it to be a little dry and bland. To be fair, it's not the worst pork chop I've had from a hotel restaurant, just also not the best. Expect to pay steak house prices for hotel quality food, because what you're really paying for is the view. Overall, I think it's worth a trip if you're staying at the Doubletree. The perfect ending to our vacation! We truly enjoyed our meal tonight. My husband had the full rack of ribs . Smelled and tasted great, that was a huge portion so he couldn't finish it. My daughter loved her cheese tortellini even the mushrooms. I had the spinach salad. The salad dressing cheese, spinach, strawberries and almonds were the perfect combination. Finally, the tiramisu and cheesecake made the evening a five star event. The atmosphere is small and intimate. So glad we made reservations. The view of DC at night was very moving . Our waiter and the service was top notch. And they gladly accepted our YELP 20% coupon. We will definitely recommend to friends. read more

What a beautiful view of DC at night. The room spins very slowly, almost an hour for a full rotation so you are never without a view the entire time. We attended for drinks and desserts and had a really enjoyable time. The staff was very pleasant and attentive. Drinks were on the expensive side but you are paying for the view and boy is it worth it! You must get the vanilla cheesecake! It's like a light cheesecake with a creme Brule top. Amazing! Definitely recommended by someone from out of town as a great date night location. Dress is semi casual. read more

This place is really nice & you should go at least once if only for the view. I went on a Thursday, not crowed at all, waitress very attentive. I only had drinks so can't tell u about food. Did I mention the view and the fact that the place actually rotates so your view of the city changes. Best at night so u or your guest can take in the city lights. If you have friends in town visiting for the first time you will want to take them for sure (for the view). It was karaoke night and you can imagine the horror of some of the songs but others were ok. I am not one for singing except maybe in the shower so I didn't take a turn on the floor. Saturday March 8 2014 12 of us visited for a surprise 70th birthday party. I read the negative food reviews below but did not let them form my judgement. The staff, from managers down, were incredibly attentive and polite. We were able to try just about everything on the menu including the special and everyone raved about the quality of the food. I encourage everyone to visit the Skydome as the food is very tasty, the views are flat out amazing and the staff is very friendly. My rule for posting: post two positive reviews before posting a negative review. It's easier for someone to post a negative review than a positive one so take that into consideration for all of the negative reviews. read more

Save your $$$! The view alone cannot make up up for the lack of quality food, limited selections and small over-priced portions. They attempt to create an atmosphere of a high end restaurant but fall very short. For example.. The "bottled" H2O that is served is filled from the soda gun at the bar. read more

We went at around 10pm on a Friday for some drinks and light appetizers. For food we ordered the wings, egg rolls, babaganoush/hummus plate, and calamari. Out of those options, I would only order the wings and egg rolls again. Overall the ambiance was great, and the view was awesome. On top of that our service was friendly and polite. One of the best kept secrets of Washington, DC. And it shouldn't be! A lot of people who come here seem to be visitors staying in the DoubleTree. Little do they (and the locals) know it is one of the best views of the District. I would encourage Skydome Lounge to do more publicity. This restaurant has the setting to be successful, however it is plagued with issues. The food is marginal at best, yet extremely expensive. In addition to that the service is incredibly slow. We waited 45 minutes for a dinner that was comprised of nothing more than appetizers. When we inquired as to whether or not the table could receive bread while we waited we were told that, yes, we could have bread, however there would be a charge for it.Really, a charge for bread? I sincerely hope this restaurant figures out what needs to be done to improve service. The view is truly spectacular. With that said, the food and the wait for service makes it A frustrating experience. Also, there are two options for children. We were offered a $24 hamburger for our seven-year-old. Decided to make a reservation at this restaurant to take advantage of the great views it is known for. We were greeted pleasantly by Mick, the host. I noticed the restaurant was fairly full, with only one empty table on the outside (next to the windows, hands down the best seats in the house) available. The host told us we would be seated in the center of the restaurant, the worst seats in a restaurant known for its views and revolving nature. I asked if we could wait for a window table. Mick literally went off on me. He told me that "out of respect for other reservations, we don't do that. If everyone waited for an outside table then no one would be eating." I understood that concept but was confused about the "respect to other reservations" since we too had a reservation. Also, the empty tables near the window were available. Mick was rude and very condescending. He told us our seats were just as good as the window seats (they weren't, not even close) and we would have the same view everyone else had. Not true. He recognized that I was very irritated and told us that if a window table came open he would move us but not to expect it because they were in the middle of a dinner service. And we would have to be moved presumably during the middle of our meal, if we were lucky enough. His nasty attitude completely ruined our evening. We literally had a drink and got up and left. You cannot expect to talk to customers in that manner and then expect those same customers to spend $200+ on dinner. So on the way out, guess who was in the elevator? Mick! He asked us why we were leaving and not having dinner. We proceeded to tell him why. He started spouting excuse after excuse, even telling us the reason he didn't seat us near the window was because of the fire code! Then he told us he would cancel our reservation with Open Table, which he did, an hour after we left. A completely nasty and vindictive thing to do. He is a horrible person. The only great thing about this place is the view. THE MENU ONLINE HAS CHANGED!!!! They only have PRE-MADE entrees. If you have food allergies you might be out of luck. All I wanted was a piece of grilled salmon or chicken with two sides of veggies...nope! The server was not very nice... I thought this place was a disaster! Plus it was very pricey for pre-made NOT fresh food. I ordered the salmon...I did not like it at all. It tasted like salmon out of a can...very fishy and not fresh..Plus it was lukewarm! It was my husbands birthday and I felt bad for having picked the place. We've been coming here off and on since before we were married, since the 1980's. We still have a couple of the old Skydome Lounge glasses you could pay a little extra to keep. The view is fabulous. You can see the DC skyline, watch the headlights of the cars coming over the 14th Street Bridge, and, best of all, watch planes taking off from Reagan National Airport right in front of you. The tables revolve around the dance floor. The atmosphere is different on weekend (Friday and Saturday) nights than it is on week nights. On weekends there is a $10 cover charge after 9 p.m., and the music is loud and not usually something we'd choose to dance to. Years ago they played the kind of music we'd dance to, but not so much anymore. On weeknights, it's quieter and more casual, with no music. They got rid of the huge DJ booth that took up most of the dance floor for a few years, hooray. We usually just get drinks here, but the food has been good enough. The desserts are very nice. The service is professional and unobtrusive. The prices are what you'd expect at a big-city lounge. Dinner, drinks, dessert and tip recently ran us $70 for two people. read more

The views at the Skydome are amazing! My husband and I arrived around 9pm and DC looked beautiful from the Skydome! There was a large birthday party going on during the time we were there and a few other parties so it was pretty busy. Our waitress took a while to get back over to us but another waiter stepped in to help her out which was fine with us. The food was a little pricey (I had a gourmet burger and mac&cheese for about $14.00) But I do understand that you are paying for food at a hotel which is not that cheap to begin with so considering that we paid less than what we expected. At 10pm a DJ comes and the lounge changes to more of a club scene which was really fun. There were a few songs that were repeated but other than that there was a good mix of old and new school music. overall, my husband and I had a wonderful time and we will revisit the lounge! read more

Visited this restaurant last night for dinner. The ambiance is the best thing this place has going for them. The dimly lit lightning, the view, the revolving floor and the seating arrangements were all pretty cool. Howerever, the music from the speakers was barely audible and, it was too cold in there....I kept my jacket on the entire time. We did find it "interesting" that the menu didn't have your typical "bar foods." It was very limited and, without a theme, which led to very few options. As a result, we ordered 2 simple ceasar salads: I had the salmon and he had the chicken. read more

Lovely view. I had the Spinach and strawberry salad for $9. It was fresh and had a nice dressing. For dinner I had 34$ New York strip that came with 7 skinny asparagus over a potato cake. The steak over cooked and lacked any flavor whatsoever. The asparagus and potato cake were very good. The wine selection was so-so. The only Shiraz on the menu was Jacobs Creek. I capped it all off with an excellent dirty martini for $18. I expected to drop around 100 bucks and watching the sun go down on the monuments is nice. I love this place for the view and how you have a 360 rotation of the restaurant but they have made changes to the menu that I don't like. They stopped serving happy hour drinks and food. The price of their drinks went up significantly for smaller drink portions. I ordered a vodka tonic that came in a small glass full of ice with very little vodka & tonic that was not worth the price. Their small glass of wine is the price of a regular glass of wine at better restaurants. You don't even get bread with your meal, you have to pay for it now! I understand they want the make profit but they have gone too far. The service was also pretty slow. Not enough waiters. I certainly won't go there as often anymore. read more

I chose this restaurant for my wife and I's 2nd wedding anniversary because the views looked stunning and the reviews seemed "ok". After learning how much parking is at the hotel (even after being validated) ~$20 it was less expensive for my wife and I to take an Uber from our home to and from the restaurant ~$15. We arrive at the hotel and it could not have been more confusing to get up to the actual restaurant. You walk into the lobby and you have to take an escalator up to a landing then take an elevator up to the 14th floor, get off, then get into a different elevator that is specific for the restaurant. We walk in and are standing at the host desk for a good 5-7 minutes before even being acknowledged. Eventually we are seated (there were plenty of open tables) but my reservation was never checked into or acknowledged in their system because like I said there were so many vacant tables. Because of this I got an email from open table asking why I wasn't at my reservation last night. Also I had a specific request in my open table reservation for two glasses of champagne for my wife and I which obviously were never fulfilled. After we were seated it took another 5-7 minutes before anyone came over to even get us water. Eventually we order our food. I had the cauliflower soup and it was dreadful. Bland, no flavor. It was essentially piping hot dish water. My wife got the Caesar salad and it was "ok". For our main courses, I got the braised beef short rib (very good) with mashed potatoes (ok) and broccolini (awful). The broccolini has red pepper flakes on it which essentially made it impossible to eat. My wife got the filet mignon cooked medium and it arrived well done. She didn't even bother to send it back given how poor our service/food had been, that this was right up to par with everything else. After tip I paid $175 for an extremely disappointing anniversary dinner. The only reason this wasn't a 0/5 stars is because the views were great. I'd recommend coming up here for a drink at the bar, don't bother eating and paying for an expensive dinner. read more

This place is not worth the trip or the money. We sat for almost 20 minutes before anyone came over to wait our table and take our drink order. Then we waited another 20 minutes before the waitress returned with our drinks and took our order. After she finally took our order, we waited almost 30 minutes for our appetizer which was over cooked. The risotto came out shortly after our appetizer and was pretty tasty. This was supposed to be a night to remember and it was. I will remember to never go or recommend this place to anyone not even my worst enemy; even I am not that cruel. One would think for it being the beginning of the summer season that the SkyDome would be on top of its game especially with the National Harbor as their biggest competition. Not!!! Make a long story short...service was bad. Asked about the daily special and she said a "half chicken." I was like and..... The Drunken Hanger steak was no where to be found but said the Flat Iron steak was offered in it place. None left and it was 9:30. We waited 20 minutes for her to return. She said they were out of chicken. Noooo.. The manager and waitress said there shipment of food did not come. I wonder where it went. Maybe to the National Harbor??? Even after calling the hotel manager on duty, who came to my rescue. How even her intervention was not enough. She convinced me the flat iron steak was great. She ate it with her sister recently. I then abandoned my Pork Chop and ordered that. Mistake... The steak was more like Steak Strips; it looked like a steak on a stick minus the stick. As my friend ate the pork chop I was supposed to have; I felt sad and wish I stay with that. Last time I trust the managers opinion. Even with the new waiter, free Cesar salad and soda, validated parking and cover refund, this still left me feeling terrible in the morning. The only good thing was being with my girls who always make me smile and bring laughter and love to my life. The view was spectacular. Music good however I thought it was a mixed tape because I never heard him speak or saw him. I have been to a conference at this hotel and experience great food and service. That experience was all below the SkyDome. If one wants a good view and some music go to the Skydome. But..eat at National Harbor, Chipolte or even McDonalds first. Guys or ladies...if u have money to waste and a women/ man u want to impress then go there SkyDome. Maybe u will wake up in the morning with a smile and say, "That was night to remember. ". read more
