My husband and I had decided to spend our one year wedding anniversary at Skydome Lounge. We were very disappointed in the treatment we received from the manager and our server. When we were first sat we were told we couldn't get a table by the window. However, a table became available by window. When my husband went to front and ask the manager could we move to the table that became open once it was clean and reset; he told my husband no. Yet, three lady were offered the opportunity to move to another table by the window. Now, our waiter never introduced himself. He was very rude and condescending to my husband,as well. The Skydome on top of the Doubletree hotel in Crystal City offers one of the best panoramic views in Washington, with its revolving floor. Once you get by the view, I thought the alcohol selection was moderate and the wine selection the same. And expensive. We did not get any bread and appetizers were served vary casually, giving us plenty of time to revolve a second time. Once the appetizers arrived I was happy. I had octopus which was among the best I've ever had. Duck tacos and Thick Bacon were also winners. For dinner, saffron shrimp popped with flavor but chicken across the table was luke warm. The Ocean Trout, which was a salmon lookalike, was terrific from three in our party. Only three desserts available although good and they did not have any port wine. So I left a bit disappointed. Horrible customer service, especially by the manager himself. We entered with a party of 7 and sat down to order. More than one hour later, all the tables around us which had been seated after us were already served. The manager came by while we were asking our waiter about the situation and instead of listening patiently to our views, he rather rudely insisted on sharing with us his "20 years of restaurant experience" that all the smaller tables get served first, and then accused us of not having asked to receive appetizers first (which does not make any sense). After this horrible exchange in which we were "taught" by the manager on how restaurants are run, he mockingly offered us a discount, and then rescinded it when we did not respond. Did not hear an apology once from the manager, so the waitor ended up apologizing afterward. While the view is nice enough, the food was expensive and arrived both late and cold, and the customer service was horrendous. Definitely would not eat here again. read more

This restaurant most definitely did not meet my expectations.. I was truly disappointed and will not visit this location again. I brought my GF here on a romantic surprise getaway thing that it would be an incredible restaurant with lure an appeal and man was I wrong. For starters, the waitress did not speak great English. (For those thinking I might be a biggot or somewhat biggot or a tad bit prejudice I am multiracial and my GF in attendedance is Puerto Rican ). After us asking for 2 appetizers that were appealing she responded with "oh were out of those", and then we were forced to choose other appetizers.. Throughout our experience the waitress did not routinely check up on our table and had an absolutely horrible personality and did not ever smile, and was a tad bit rude. My GF wanted honey for some tea and the tea was Luke warm and the restaurant did not supply certain condiments that most restaurants keep in stock which was surprising with the pricing of every thing on the menu.. let's just say that I live in Philadelphia and would consider myself a restaurant frequented individual and I highly recommend that this restaurant change its management first and some staff and that you bypass it and choose one of DC many other wonderful choices.. dont come here for food. prob not worth it. but the view def is. their happy hour isnt much of a happy hour, so just be prepared to pay the money. but the view of dc is really spectacular, and the spinning is so subtle that you dont really notice it at first, unless you are looking at certain spots where the floor is moving, but then it gets you really dizzy. read more

I was able to visit Skydome Lounge last night and enjoy a nice dinner with my girlfriend for her Birthday. The parking rates are very high in the garage so you have to remember to ask to get your parking validated by your server. The instructions posted inside to get to the restaurant from the elevators are quite clear and other Yelpers have also noted how to get there, so we were able to find it no problem. The concept of a revolving restaurant is a very cool idea and this was my first experience with something of this nature. I was fine but my girlfriend was feeling a little motion sickness from staring at the floor slowly move. The view itself is quite a nice one of DC, but being DC, there isn't really a skyline to look at, just the Capitol and the Washington Monument mainly. But it honestly has to be the best view in the area. The food was quite satisfying and delicious. I ordered the Lump Crab Cake and my girlfriend had the Seared Salmon with Mac and Cheese. Both were very exceptional. We also shared the Potato Skins and for dessert we had the Chocolate Cake. The Potato Skins were alright, I would say Friday's has them beat on that. The cake was very rich and moist. The only thing that would've made it perfect would be to add ice cream on top of it. Anyways, overall I would say that the dining experience and the food was great. The ambiance was what really made the night special. The food prices are a little high, especially with the portion size you get, but I guess that factors in with the intangibles of this place. read more

Excellent views, great food- the street corn side was a surprise favorite- I think I enjoyed it even more than my steak! If you're going around sunset, you may want to bring some sunglasses, as you might spend a few minutes facing into the sun as the restaurant revolves. (It's hardly oppressive, though, and I am someone with relatively sensitive eyes!) It took me a minute or two to get used to the rotation and my date found it a little disorienting to look in certain directions, but we got adjusted quickly. I did not even notice the stopping and starting when they let someone with a wheelchair come on. A few small things that weren't totally clear to me from the website that may be helpful: - they validate your parking, which would otherwise be pricy - they don't do reservations, except with large groups or on special occasions (not an issue- we were there on a Saturday night and did not have to wait at all, and there seemed to always be tables) - to get up there, you need to go to the hotel's north tower, take the elevator to the 14th floor, and transfer to another elevator that'll take you the rest of the way. Make sure to remember where you parked- the lower levels of the hotel are kind of confusing! All in all, a great place for a special dinner. You can see the White House! Also, it's pretty close to Gravelly Point park...we drove over there afterwards to watch the planes come and go. read more

The view was unbeatable. I took my family here while they were visiting, and it was a great place to see Washington DC and Crystal city from a high vantage point. In addition to that, the food was great, the beer was cold, and the service was on point. I had the steak. It was amazing. Saw mixed reviews on Yelp -- "go for the view but suffer the service and pricey, okay food..." NOPE! Menu must have been revamped; great selection of small plates, top-notch ingredients, unique offerings, great drinks. Prices competitive with comparable restaurants that do not have this view. Service was spot-on, there when you needed her but not a pest. Took me seven years to finally go, and it was well worth it -- must-go place when you have visitors! (more -- entrees are pricey but 'small plates' make for a great dine! Yelp says no reservations but not true -- on Opentable, also can res through their website. And drinks were NOT watered down; 10-14 for a cocktail is a little high but not out of line for this kind of place, and for the unique house spins on the classics. We'll be back!) read more

I had a great time until the next day! I went to the Skydomd this past Saturday evening to celebrate my birthday. Everyone including myself had a great time. The view was spectacular! A bit confusing though, as it is a rotunda so one minute your looking at the Washington Monument, and the next minute your near the front entrance of the place. Overall a wonderful time until the next day. My boyfriend opened a tab but paid cash at the end of the night. The next morning, he found that he had a "pending" charge on his account from the Skydome. Apparently, they start a tab for you and the first couple of items that you purchase are authorized on your card. If you pay by cash at the end of the night, your card has still already been authorized and you have to wait sometimes up to 96 hours for your funds to be "non-pending" on your credit card. This I did not like. They don't for warn their guest about this "weird policy" Everything else was great, just NEVER start a tab here!!!!! read more

Been here a few times for dinner or drinks. They now have a new menu and it's fantastic; everything is so fresh. But beyond the food is the great service we received. We've been pleased every time we visit and it's a perfect place to take visiting friends or family as the views of DC are awesome. read more

This place is pricey but the view makes up for it. You get great views of the pentagon and some of Washington, DC. The food was good although it took a while to get. They could expand their menu a bit. The restaurant floor is round and it rotates which lets you take advantage of the view no matter where you sit. The bar are is not that big and if you sit at the bar, you can't really take advantage of the view. read more

Sent it back was told by the waiter the chef said I couldn't have my salad that came with it because I sent my plate back. What a joke. I'm the paying customer. pros: Nice view, football was on the TV. and the room rotated me right to the bathroom so I did not have to walk across the room. cons: Bathrooms are to small, at one point when the room rotated near the bar I was forced to have a mans butt right beside my face, drinks were weak(im not a heavy drinker but I did not taste any alcohol nor did I leave tipsy after two and a half drinks), over priced menu for the portions they give you, small menu selection, it was 30 degrees outside & the air was on full blast so we left and don't feel the need to go back. Well, its a nice place to relax and unwind even dance if you care too...Well the crowd is an interesting mix of folks so prepare oneself for a diverse environment...All Good.. I had dinner and drinks my long island ice teas, with calamari, with the chicken Caprese Salad fresh mozzarella, basil, olive oil, balsamic..I suspect most anything is good after a few Ice-T's.The salad was great, I prefer fresher calamari though I spent some time in Italy, nothing like the calamari there......I had great service though by Leticia, nice Latin lady, who kept the drinks and food coming very timely and professional. Always loved going to this place to have a good time on the weekend, but once the DJ was taken away I lost interest.

The service was great and food was delicious. I had the Kobe Burger and it was fresh, hot and full of flavor. The Fish and chips were also yummy! I loved the tater tots that came with it. The atmosphere was pleasant and the view to die for! We will return. read more

"A Mother's Day Nightmare" My family's Mother's Day was a catastrophe. Mind you, we've dined at this restaurant before, about 3 years ago for Mother's Day, had a wonderful time, and the food and staff were great. However, this time our experience was the complete opposite. First, the menu is very limited in selection. Second, the food was not good. Third, what comes out from between the dinner rolls crawls a roach. Yes, a roach!! It was unbelievable. We quickly pointed it out to the Maître d who happened to be nearby and he promptly removed the plate of bread from the table and apologized for this happening. He later returned and told us we did not have to pay for anything and that everything was complementary. The only good thing I can say from the whole experience was that before any of this happened the service of the Maître d and staff was very pleasant and friendly (I'm not blaming them for this nightmare of experience). Do not ever go to this place. My friend and I went there last saturday night and charged me twice. One of the waitresses (with curly hair) asked my credit card and I said I would use cash to pay our bill and she said she just wanted to see my credit card to make sure, and later i could use cash. So, I gave my credit card and paid our bill cash. After three days, I found out they still charged me on my credit card. I called them and said that they would let the manager know about my issue and would call me back, but they never called me back. I loved the Skydome... We went on a Sat night and we had to wait about 10 mins before we were let into the Lounge. The Security officer was nice and the manager was nice. We got there... the Dome was nice.... the music was okay.... I thought it was a bit cheesy(the song selection), the food was EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Three Dining Divas visited this restaurant on 3-19-12 between 7pm to 8:30pm... Diva #1: Not what we expected...We looked up this restaurant on its website...checked out the menu and made sure to dress appropriately. We get on the elevator and it clearly states a dress code of "sophisticated business casual"...We arrive at the Doubletree penthouse revolving restaurant and find what appears to be a sports bar...blue jeans, tshirts, shorts, flip flops...we order mushroom risotto with green beans and fava beans and receive mushroom risotto with PEAS...they might as well serve hot wings and mozzarella cheese sticks...we ask for more bread, finish our entrees while waiting 25 minutes for more bread and water...The food was not what we ordered, the service was so poor, our drinks were not refilled, our waitress, Letecia, was plenty quick to bring our checks, and return to collect our money...never mentioning the bread order that was NEVER filled. Diva #2: While visiting Washington, DC with friends, we were searching the Yelp website for fine dining...we came across the revolving Skydome Lounge in Arlington, VA. That evening, we dressed up to experience wonderful food and the beauty of Washington, DC lit up at night from the skydome. BOY, were we shocked, to walk into a loud, rowdy sports bar with lousy service. The only timely service we received was taking our orders and collecting our money. Diva #3: I have travelled the entire USA and 30 years ago, I had the pleasure of dining at the now Skydome which was fine dining...I mean five star dining. Was I shocked, when entering the Skydome on March 19th. It was still being advertised as fine dining, five star dining and I only saw one star dining. After taking my seat, the waitress, Letecia, came to our table and upon inquiry, explained the dress code only applies to Friday and Saturday, what a joke, 5 star. After ordering our drinks, it took twenty minutes for our drinks to arrive...5 star...what a joke. Then we ordered our food, and when it arrived my tortellini was luke warm with a small piece of salmon and a roll....no bread plate, this is advertised as five star...what a joke. We asked for additional bread, paid our checks, left the restaurants, came back to our hotel, put on our pajamas, still waiting on that bread...5 star...what a joke. The only perk was sharing this experience with the other two divas!!! read more

DON'T GO !! THE WORST - Do not waste your money. The view doesn't even make it worth the trip. The food is some of the worst I have ever had dining out and that includes cafeteria food. The menu selection is very limited. My boyfriend had the fish and chips with the tater tots and the quality was worse than a frozen dinner. Fast food would have been a big improvement -I had the citrus chicken and it tasted boiled and flavorless. The accompaniments of a carrot slaw and rice and beans were inedible and just a mess on the plate. The service was bad and the place was PRICEY. When the place rotated you would be next to the bar area and there was a huge puddle with broken glass on the floor. When we rotated again there was an even bigger mess there with a bigger puddle still with the glass pieces. The server never greeted, just came to ask to take order and never returned to take another order for additional beverages or dessert. Took forever to get the bill and then close it out. It was not worth the negative energy to get a manager or make a complaint. We will just never go again- Would really appreciate a refund . As a long standing Hiltons Honors Member, this place was the worse experience I can ever imagine. DON'T GO !! Will NEVER go to Double tree or any property associated with this chain AGAIN ! read more
