Delhi Skyline was impressive. The inside was spacious and decorated, neat and interesting. I especially like the mural photo collage of old town Delhi. Tableware included a description of each photo. Well, this is my favorite hometown restaurant (chain). I usually get it a couple of times when I visit. This was my first time to the Delhi location, and I enjoyed it. For those non Cincinnatians, Skyline is a local delicacy. From the menu, I love 3ways, but many enjoy the addition of beans and/or onions in the 4way and 5way. Nothing like it. I now get mine "juicy" with some extra sauce onboard. For the non locals it isn't just about the nonstandard chili recipe but the spaghetti+chili+mountain of shredded cheddar cheese (a 3way). I've seen other cities try to replicate, including Washington DC, and they just lightly drizzle the cheddar cheese...or worse, use the liquid cheese. This Skyline Chili is across the street from an O'Reilly's and diagonally across from a Dollar Tree with a drive thru and plenty of parking. Because we were visiting Cincinnati, we wanted to try Cincinnati chili and why not try it at Skyline Chili (surprisingly this was created by immigrants who immigrated to Cincinnati during the 1920s/ 1930s), since they seem to be a big chain here in Cincinnati. My husband and I came by this location last Saturday, around 7:20 pm. Because there was a long line for the drive thru, we opted to park and go inside. When we came in, we were greeted by a friendly employee behind the register. After looking over the menu, we ended up ordering: Regular 3 way Chili, $8.19 before tax- This entrée is chili served on top of a bed of noodles. And on top of the chili is a huge amount of shredded yellow cheese. I asked for the cheese on the side but dumped the entire bag on the chili just for the photo. And then I removed most of the cheese because that is just way too much cheese for me and my husband. The chili has a strong flavor of Mediterranean spices, especially anise and cumin. What makes Cincinnati style chili different from regular chili is that it is also sweeter too, as it is known that cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, allspice may be used in one's recipe (and even sometimes cocoa powder). This chili was meaty but on the thinner side (which is also something I had read that Cincinnati typically is and maybe not as thick as regular chili). I thought the chili was good to try but think the anise was really strong and I usually don't like that licorice like flavor (well only in very small dosages). My husband really liked the chili because it was something different. The portion size of the regular is a good size to share for 2 people. Chili Cheese Sandwich, $2.79 before tax- Just to let you know that the chili cheese sandwich and cheese coney are the same price, so you are better off ordering that instead of this. This chili cheese sandwich is just chili and cheese placed in a hot dog bun. My husband just wanted to order this because he wanted to try what a chili cheese sandwich was. I would have preferred the chili cheese dog though. It was okay but would have been better with a hot dog. ----------------------------- (Total= $11.72 after tax) Service was friendly. The girl who took our order made small talk with us and found out that we aren't from the area, but from California. Inside the restaurant, there looked to be plenty of booths. So I am a Cincinnati native and have grown up on Skyline Chili and absolutely love it. I eat Skyline every time I visit home and have had countless trips to Skyline; however, on this particular trip to Skyline in a post-COVID world, I thought it was important to shift my focus from how much I love coneys to how impressed I was with the safety precautions taken to ensure that a customer's dining experience was a safe and comfortable one. The first thing I noticed was seating. Skyline is typically a seat yourself kind of restaurant and you get the thrill of picking any clean table. This still rings true to the Delhi location on this day; however, there are now signs (see attached photos) on the table letting you know which ones have been cleaned, making it very easy to pick a spot. Next, service itself. Skyline is known for serving its Oyster crackers in a bowl. Instead, they are now individually packaged in order to provide less potential exposure. Additionally, all servers were wearing gloves and masks. Any time the server brought a lose utensil like a fork or knife, it was placed in a cup so there was no possibility of a customer touching an employee's gloved hand while reaching for a utensil. The food was warm and quick like always. Lastly, the check out procedure. Typically, at the end of the meal Skyline customers walk up and wait in a queue to pay; however, now customers can turn a sign (see photos) to indicate they are done with their meal and ready for the server to pay. The server then takes care of the check; reducing the amount of foot traffic in the restaurant, as well as the amount of people customer's interact with. An important thing to note is that if you are paying with card, you must tip with cash, if you so desire. Overall, I was incredibly impressed by the service and safety precautions taken in the face of this health crisis and highly recommend Skyline in Delhi to anyone looking for a safe dining out option. read more

The variance in Skyline locations doesn't seem to skew too far one direction or the other, at least in my limited experience. With that in mind, this is a pretty standard Skyline in my opinion. The parking is a bit of a headache. Because of the layout of the drive-thru, it can be difficult to maneuver in and out of a parking spot if it's a busy time. The inside of the restaurant is par for the course. Not exactly sparkling clean but that's to be expected with a place like Skyline that is high volume and deals in food piled high with cheese that can easily fall to the floor while eating. One unique and cool detail with this location is they have pictures all over the restaurant of people wearing Skyline t-shirts in interesting places all over the world. A nice touch of personality for a chain restaurant. Service is friendly and fast, as expected from a Skyline. Food is good. Always hot and fresh, again as expected from a Skyline. One bonus with this location is they almost always have baked potatoes available, not true at all locations. No complaints really on the food, it delivers a solid Skyline meal. Waivered between 3 and 4 stars, but ultimately landed on 3 stars as I'm not sure there is quite enough to elevate this above your average Skyline experience. We love skyline. Eat it on the regular. This location isn't the best (we live a mile from it) however the waitress we had yesterday was great! She was very sweet, peppy, and efficient. My husband and I tried the habanero cheese on our 3-ways and it was delicious! If you like spice, that's the way to go. The hardest part about leaving Cincinnati, was leave the infamous chili that I always grew up with. Best Skyline in the city as far as I'm concerned. I used to go to the Price Hill location. However their chilitos are often dry sometimes I wonder if they even put chili in them. They go super light on their ways with the chili as well. I've been coming to this location( Delhi ) for about a month now and I'm very happy I changed locations. This chili just rocks, I really like the chili and spaghetti going on. Someone told us about this place and we just fell in love with the place. We pretty much can pig out and we ate this stuff when we went to King's Island, to the Reds game and it was just good. I love skyline. But lately this location as been lacking in quality control. My husband orders a 3way and chili cheese sandwich. Half the time the chili is spot on. Good consistency, lots of meat and not watery. The other half of the time it's so watery that eating anything on a bun or in a wrap is just a gross mess. And not worth the mess for the food. I order the deluxe burrito. Again, the chili is a 50/50 chance of being great. If not, you have a sloppy mess. Which is what happened this past time. It was so watery, the lettuce absorbed it and made a clumpy blob of green string. Also, I noticed that the letup is now super shredded like that from a bag. Gross again. A runny, un-chunky, overspiced ground beef meat sauce is more like it. The flavor of the chili is quite unique, but not that great. Overwhelming cinnamon is what I tasted more than anything else. They take this cinnamon meat sauce stuff and ladle it on to a pile of overcooked spaghetti and top it with a very mild shredded yellow cheese. I have been to many-a-Skyline, but the Delhi Pike location is definitely my favorite. Ever since I was a kid, I have loved this location because of the glass dome in which you can sit and eat. I've noticed lately that they only open that area when the place gets pretty crowded, which is kind of a bummer, but I have a lot of memories of eating Skyline with my dad in that weird dome. Cleanliness is in line with how clean Skylines always are. Does anyone go to Skyline and expect it to be impeccably clean? I go to Skyline and expect to pound mad amounts of scrumptious slop that most of the country would find repulsive, yet we Cincinnatians find delicious. And my expectations are consistently met. I eat Skyline a lot more than I should admit too... but this location is for the most part OK. We eat here at least 1-2 times a month. As some people have already said, the chili is a little runny sometimes but doesn't really bother me too much. The service is always solid though.
