Sorry to say, despite the hype, not a good experience at all. I felt very rushed, and as if my business was an inconvenience. We had one menu to share between a party of five, so when I was asked what I'd like to order, I hadn't had the opportunity to even know what this restaurant had to offer. When I said that I'd like a few more minutes, our server pretty much huffed off. Once we got our food, everyone in my party was very unimpressed. I'm from Cincinnati, so our chili doesn't weird me out or anything, but that doesn't mean I have to love it. I personally, am not not that big a fan of Cincinnati Chili, but I'll grab a cheese coney or two every once in a while. To me Skyline and Gold Star taste almost the same, so pick whatever one is closest. They also have pretty good wraps and salads. Some locations have fries as well. If you're coming in from out of town and you want to try Skyline, I would eat at this specific location. Interesting. I have long-awaited trying Cincinnati style chilli and was told skyline is the place to go! This location was clean, quick, and the staff was friendly. Overall it was a little confusing experience for me. Did I like it? I ate my whole plate... Was it fast food? Definitely... Was it delicious and everything I dreamed it would be? I normally head to the Florence Mall Road location, which is closer to my house. However, on this occasion I was in Clifton, having had a doctor's appointment in nearby Corryville, so it seemed only right to go to Skyline here. Right off the bat, one problem: an accessibility issue. Minor, since someone was willing to assist me with the door, and I'm strong enough to push my wheelchair up over the step. But I can see where this would deter other would-be patrons. Ah, but once you are past that...this is an old-school Skyline. We're talking 1960's decor at oldest. Then again, it could be older. I'm not necessarily the best judge of these things. Otherwise, same great food as Skyline in Florence, slightly (maybe 10-15 cents?) more expensive than Florence. But you know what? I'll pay that. That's mainly sales tax, anyway. I'd give it a 4.5 because of the minor accessibility problem, but I can't give fractions. You know what, I'll go five. It's Skyline. It's Cincinnati chili. The staff of this franchise is always friendly and could probably write a book about all of the foolishness they've witnessed over years. I know everyone loves this Skyline...and I am right there with them. I used to live down in Clifton, and I used to work at the Blockbuster down off of Mitchell Ave. So, when we closed for the night, my roomate and I would go to Skyline. Or, we'd be playing video games and at 3 in the morning...we'd go to skyline. Really, any time...we'd go to skyline. I don't remember the names of any of the people, but the manager (who always seemed to be there) always greeted us by name, and sat us in the same seats we always sat in. So after sooooo mannyyyyy people told me I just HAD to try Skyline Chili - I did. I must say I think it's a wee bit over hyped. (Much like In-N-Out burger in Cali.) The chili I had was sort of watery & generally tasteless. I'm not a huge fan of chili to begin with but when I do have it I like it meaty & flavorful. It's a great skyline with equally great staff. And they offer free parking woot! This place is great late at night. wether you're coming from a bar, class, or The Esquire, it's a great stop. The only complaint I think anyone has with this place is its size, but they do well to get as many seats in the small place as possible without feeling like you're sitting on your neighbors lap. I didn't really care much for Skyline Chili the first time I had it. That changed. I went to Cinci to visit a friend, and he told me I had to try it. It was okay, but nothing special. As Skyline goes, I have always felt that the further from Cincinnati you go, the worst it is. As skyline expands across Ohio, it just doesn't seem the same. But there most be an epicenter, the perfect skyline where all other emanate from. This is that Skyline. It doesn't get much better than at this restaurant. First time in Cincinnati so I looked online to see what food they're famous for. The site said chili and I'm thinking "great! I love chili" so we had seen ads for Skyline chili everywhere so I figured "no brainer". Let me tell you THE ABSOLUTE WORST CHILI I HAVE EVER EATEN. The first thing my teenage son said was "it tastes like cinnamon " I said "I can also taste cloves " So looked up the recipe online and sure enough cinnamon and cloves in the recipe. Anybody who likes anything close to authentic chili will hate this crap. I have eaten canned chili that tastes better. My wife got the chili dogs and they taste like dollar store hot dogs. I'm no chili expert, but I loved the unassuming, casual feel of this place. Not being a local, I wasn't quite sure what to do with the bowl of oyster crackers on the table when I arrived. However, I looked around and saw others eating them one at a time after putting a drop of hot sauce on them. Now I crave spicy oyster crackers. I had the chili 5 ways, which means: spaghetti on the bottom, topped with their famous chili, chopped onions, beans and mounds of fresh shredded cheddar cheese. Delicious. Their chili has a sweetness to it and someone mentioned they add a little chocolate to the chili. I also had one cheese coney, which is a miniature hot dog with their chili on top, plus cheese served in a warm, steamed bun. Also delicious. As one reviewer said to us "OUT OF TOWN REVIEWERS", this is not your usual chili (at least when compared to other regional chilis). And to that, I say, "all the more reason to try it." read more

Yes, the food tastes the same as it does in all their restaurants, but hey, its delicious, so stop complaining. The thing that really sets this location apart is the history of the building and the neighborhood it is in. From the sign hanging outside, to the individuals who eat here, to the scenes one can view out the window, this place really has it all. That being said, be warned, if you come here late at night, especially on the weekend, you will kindly be greeted by a lot of drunk college kids. Of course, having been one of them, more than once even, I can say that this isn't the end of the world. You may have to wait a second to find a table though! read more

My girlfriend and I went to a Skyline Chili on our trip to see the Cubs play in Cincinnati because of its amazing reviews. Personally, I wasn't a huge fan of the chili. It was alright, but I guess I prefer my chili a different way. I would give it another shot, though next time I am by one. I think that my main issue with the place is that I ordered something called a "Coney Dogs" or something like that. The chili and cheese were decent but the actual hot dog part basically seemed like some really cheap little turkey dogs . They were basically white in the middle and had the texture of tofu but a little more firm. Next time I am by one I might try another item from their menu, but definitely not the Coney Dogs again. I will warn you; this is an acquired taste, period. But once you get the bug, it's bad. You want to go safe if you've never had it before, start with a Coney, and work your way up to a 3 way.
