We were on a road trip through Ohio and had to try Skyline chili. The service and ambiance were a bit lacking, the menu was a bit confusing as "foreigners", but it was more of a road side diner vibe than a restaurant. We watched some football and chatted with patrons passing by through our meal. Food wasn't anything I needed to return for, but it was a fun experience and so glad we went! I bought a can of skyline chili and a can of skyline chili spaghetti. The chili spaghetti picture is very, very misleading. Because when you open the can what comes out is something that is very unappetizing in looks. Although the cinnamon and clove taste is overpowering it may be representative of a Cincinnati recipe, but it is not for my taste buds: I think there is a grave injustice with the very appealing picture on the can versus the chopped up diced up mess that is actually inside the can. I am not sure how skyline chili gets away with this misrepresentation. read more

For all the Skyline chili lovers or chili lovers who have never had Skyline, I just went to this location last week and had a great experience. The restaurant is located in a nice newer plaza and it was very clean and taken care of. Our waiter was fantastic and we got our food really quickly. Skyline is known for being a fast-casual spot so you typically never have to wait for longer than 15 minutes! The food itself was right on par with expectations for a tasty chili and cheese loaded meal. We got chili cheese coney's and 3-ways and they were delicious! If you want a place being cleaned with dust and mites flying everywhere pull your chair up. Most locations have this problem. This place is a must visit! I decided to try as I was passing thru on my way home to the Philadelphia suburbs! The minute I walked thru the doors I was greeted my a very friendly staff member! The place is clean and the staff was helpful and very friendly! I tried the three way chili and it was amazing! I was so excited to come try Skyline chili. Had super high hopes after reading reviews about this staple for most folks in Ohio. I honestly was not impressed. I ordered the 5 way chili (small) and a cheesy coney. I could not taste the chili. It tasted bland. I had to use hot sauce to give it more flavor. The hot dog I can taste but the combination of the chili and cheese didn't add much flavor overall. We liked the sweet tea and the funnel fries with powdered sugar and cinnamon sugar. This location was clean and was located very close to the Ohio State University stadium and we driving through Columbus en route to Chicago. It was nice to see the campus. Super lightning fast table service at this location! Also I think I saw actress Mare Winningham while I was here - not totally sure... but if it was that's super cool. Totally plausible since this location is so close to Ohio State University (go Bucks!) and famous people visit campus all the times! She should have won the best supporting actress Oscar for "Georgia" in 1996 but Mira Sorvino took it for "Mighty Aphrodite." Hollywood... Oh well... Anyways, it's typical Cincinnati Chili & dogs as served up by Skyline - can't be beat. Hot, fast and the location was pretty clean for as busy as they were on a Saturday afternoon. The taste was not for me when I scooted the noodles over. It was a lot of water in the plate. I had a large chili. I sent it back and order the hotdogs too the chili taste just didn't agree with my stomach. It was not enjoyable to me, but everybody has different taste buds so try it for yourself. I was very excited to eat here as I've seen in on TV. The prices were really good and cheap for the amount of food you get but the food was not very good. Really bland. When you come in you get seated by a waiter and they take your order. The food comes out pretty quickly, I don't think I will be coming back. read more

We come to this location whenever we want Skyline because it's the closest location to downtown. Whenever we order here, they are always clean, efficiently well staffed, and friendly. Being originally from Cincinnati, I have a special place in my heart for Skyline. We came on the 4th of July and our server was excited because they were closing early so the staff could enjoy the holiday - which was very nice of the company/owner. I hate that her name has slipped me, but she was very kind and thoughtful. We ordered, enjoyed our stay, our food and sweet tea was delicious (btw, I get half sweet, half unsweet), and we left with smiles on our faces as always. Thank you all for the great work you do! My colleague was very excited about going to Skyline Chili as he said this is an Ohio staple. I was 100% down to try it and am glad that I did. I ordered the "chilirito" which was basically a burrito with chili, sour cream and cheese inside of it. It was tasty and not too filling (most of the other dishes came with a heaping pile of cheese!). I liked the chili with the bit of cinnamon but I can see how this would not be for everyone. Nice Skyline location near the Ohio State campus! It offers both parking and a drive thru, whether you opt to eat in or grab take out. The staff was friendly and efficient, and it offers the usual Skyline menu you might expect: the well known coneys (hot dogs) and signature ways (chili served on spaghetti with various topping options), plus salads, fries, and wraps, and vegetarian options that focus on their black beans and rice instead of the chili. I am always a fan of Skyline and try to visit whenever I am in Columbus. I really wanted a quick and easy dinner. As this location is eighth across from my hotel, this met all my criteria! I got the usual large 5-way chili. Love love love. Also got a coney without any cheese. Tip: there was so much cheese on the 5-way that I put some of that on the coney. Service was good. I was so excited to finally try skyline chili. I was expecting a counter service restaurant, and was surprised it was a sit down and order with a menu restaurant. I looked at the menu and placed an order to go, simply a loaded chili bowl. I verified they put a spoon in the bowl and I was off to my hotel room as I am from out of town. I returned to my room and open the container of chili and was shocked. The already small container was only half-full! This can't be right. I checked with the restaurant, and they said they fill it halfway to leave room for the cheese and onions and sour cream. How gracious to leave me so much room. Thank you for that! The chili was good, but for $6.29 I would've expected a lot more. The quantity of chili seemed on par with the $1.99 chili at Wendy's. It may be worth it if you're getting a spaghetti in three-way or five way, but if you just want chili, this place is a no go. Unless they are making it with A5 Wagyu beef, which I highly doubt, I would go elsewhere for chili or buy it at the grocery store. Maybe I should have asked the best way to just get chili. What the heck with the high rating for this restaurant?!! I read rave reviews of this place. I was visiting this area and wanted to try their famous chili and hot dogs. The service lady was very friendly. I gave her 1 star. But the food was terrible. We ordered 4 chili dogs, chili 5 ways, chili 4 ways with beans and extra habanero cheese for additional 25 cents. The dogs were no big deal. No issues with them but just plain boring. I couldn't really taste the chili much. The worse part of the chili 4 or 5 ways was the spaghetti. It was not strained well and the bottom of the plate was a puddle of water. The noodle was overcooked and was really mushy. I won't even call it spaghetti. The chili was runny without good flavor. When combined with tasteless noodle, it was the ingredients for a bad dish. It was disappointing to expect good chili and then paired with flavorless noodle without texture. Salt the noodle when you cook the pasta please. They are missing the first tip of cooking noodle from cooking 101. Also we were all overwhelmed with the amount of shredded cheese that didn't seem to melt. read more

Okay... before I was convinced to try skyline I didn't think I'd like it based on how it looks, but I was surprisingly pleased. The location is next to other business but has a parking lot so parking shouldn't be a problem. We sat down and ate there and tried the crackers with the hot sauce which was good. I really loved the habanero cheese and their hot sauce. Their coney was also great. I definitely wouldn't say no if someone suggested eating there. I usually stop by one of the chili institutions when I'm in this area of Ohio. This day it happened to be skyline. The inside and outside was super clean. I was greeted as I walked through the door and seated. My coney dogs and chili 4 way was brought very fast. Both items were hot and tasted really good. Visiting from North Carolina and was very excited to finally try skyline chili i have never been here before and decided to do the drive thru but then realized it was gonna be too messy to eat in the car so i decided to sit inside for a second. upon walking in there was trash all over the tables. the staff was very rude when saying next time i come to just dine in with an attitude and continue to roll his eyes when i said i don't know and it was my first time there as i sat there and ate the staff continued to stare me down. i finished cleaned my table and was walking out the staff was unnecessarily rude again. they made me whole experience terrible. read more

I felt safe at the Skyline Chili. I have been to many Skyline Chili locations in Columbus. This is the best one and happy that is close to The Ohio State University campus area. I did miss the Skyline on campus area that close many years ago. I enjoyed my 3-way chili with spaghetti, while my friend had a 4-way chili with spaghetti with onions.
