I always visit Skyline Chili whenever I'm in the Cincinnati area. It's comfort food. Their unique chili is the base to pretty much everything they offer. The last two times I've gone I've had the chili cheese fries and the chili 4-way with onions. The service has always been good. Will definitely return when I'm in the area again. I have to say my daughter used to work for Gold Star so we had to go there for our 3 ways. Their food is good but their customer service is horrible. I've been to other Skyline Chili locations before - so I knew what I was getting going in. I ordered a bowl of Chili with onions and cheese - and a separate chili dog. I took the dog out of the bun and placed it across my bowl of Chili and chopped it into pieces. I am just not a fan of their style Chili. I prefer a heartier, spicier type of Chili. We were traveling thru and decided to give skyline a try. To our surprise, the chili had CINNAMON in it. No Where on the menu did it say anything about cinnamon. OK, Cincinnati chili is different from what lost people think of chili, but it does start with with Cincinnati. Skyline is the best. You have to get it with extra sauce (just ask for it to be juicy). If your bold and don't have to worry about being romantic, get a 5 way,,,onions, beans and cheese. You also need to try a Chili cheese coney, again with 'juicy' and onions. I had no idea Cincinnati was known for its chili! While leaving the Cincinnati area, we came upon this location and thought we'd check it out. After reading some reviews about the uniqueness in taste of this chili, I decided I had to try it to see for myself what everyone was talking about. I ordered the chili over spaghetti and the order came with some shredded cheese. The chili definitely has an interesting taste. I could taste the cinnamon and what I think to be star anise. The flavors kind of reminded me of Vietnamese pho broth! It tasted great to me! Service was friendly here and the drive thru service was fast. The Hebron location is a disappointment to Skyline Chili. I love Skykine and have actually worked at one (different location) however, if you're going through the drive-thru good luck getting what you've asked for! Barely any chili (no matter what you order), what chili you do get has no flavor and good luck if you order your 3way juicy- that doesn't exist. I gave it two stars instead of one only because if you dine-in it's actually half way decent. read more

If you're in the vicinity of a Skyline Chili, go here and get the Coney dog, maybe two or four or ten. They're fantastic. I made the mistake of sharing one little baby Coney and then getting a 3-way. Next time, I'm going to share a 3-way and get 3 Coney dogs. The 3-way was good, but I wanted more meat in lieu of all that cheese. How do they get it to be grated so fine? It's a mystery. Here's a little backstory: My daughter has Kitt Kittredge, the American Girl doll. She also has all her books, including her cookbook. See, Kitt is from Depression era Cincinnati, so a chili recipe was included in her cookbook. I was intrigued by how different it was from our regular chili here in Missouri, so I tried it. It was different, but it was very yummy. The kids loved it. I couldn't wait to try *real* Cincinnati style chili now that I'd had a version from a doll's cookbook. Surely, the real deal would be even better! Flash Forward to July 2013: We had just left the Creation Museum and we were starving. We had avoided all the yummy smelling food at their food court because we had our hearts set on Skyline Chili. When we got there the place was nearly deserted. Not a good sign. It was clean, at least. The waitress was pleasant and helpful with the menu questions we had. Our orders arrived. I got a half order of 5 way chili (that's "the works"). I wish they had used a bigger plate as the spaghetti noodles and chili were spilling onto the table. Still, I dove in. ...wait for it... What?! Ew, this wasn't what I expected. at. all. It was disgusting. It was nothing like the recipe I had tried that was rich with spices, including cinnamon, cocoa powder, and allspice. It was a glob of meat sauce flavored only with cinnamon. None of us could eat it. Fortunately, my younger 2 children ordered plain hot dogs...Lucky! The truth is, Cincinnati chili is an acquired taste. If you are used to Midwestern/Texas style chili con carne flavored with chili powder, onions, maybe tomatoes or cumin, you will be disappointed in this flavorless excuse for chili. If you love it, more power to you. It takes all kinds. There's no hate here. Tomato/Tomahto, as the song goes. The good news is we now know we don't like it and it doesn't matter we live hundreds of miles away. We won't miss it. SO, even though I have given Skyline a poor review, I do encourage you to try it for yourself. Maybe you'll like it, like so many others. Skyline Chili is an acquired taste. Unlike some of the other reviewers of this restaurant I am a Skyline lover. As a Cincinnati transplant I always try to get my fix when I am in town. This was an extremely disappointing experience. Because we have an infant we had to have carry out. I know that carry out is never as good as eating in the restaurant. But management here seems to be tightening up everything in spite of the fact that the restaurant seems to be doing a great business. We had 3 four ways and four cheese coneys. We got a total of 1 pack of crackers + 5 hot sauces in spite of the fact that I asked for hot sauce and plenty of it. On top of that the chili itself was very sparse, mostly spaghetti. I've been to enough Skyline restaurants to know that management makes a huge difference. I would say that the management of this particular Skyline does not have the customer in mind and doesn't care about the quality of his product. I'll go to Skyline, but not this one again. If you want good Skyline go to Clifton or downtown. Keep away from Hebron Kentucky. read more
