We went during the annual festival of lights, so we could see extra sparkling lights. While vacationing, I don't just want a good, memorable, meal - I want the experience also. Dinner at Skylon Tower gave us both. We had a 7p reservation, but showed up at 6p after our late visit to Journey Behind The Falls - luckily they were able to accommodate us. Walking through the completely empty arcade & very narrow escalator to the upper level where the elevator area had me questioning our reservation - we didn't want a crappy meal. I can imagine just how crazy it must be during the busy summer season - I'm glad we went in the winter! You have to go through the attendant to the right, who makes you do a few silly poses to view your souvenir pictures after. Then it's up the elevator outside the tower facing the falls - great views but still pretty cold! Entering the restaurant, it was busy and you can see the portion of the restaurant that rotates - pretty cool. After a few minutes wait, we were seated at our table near the window. We enjoyed the gorgeous view of the falls lit up at night and the informational plaques as we rotated. I don't remember how many times we rotated, but it was definitely a few times. During that time, photographer came by & snapped some pictures - we were suckered into buying them as we looked really well considering being frozen & being wet/blown around from JBTF. We were worried about the quality of the meal until it arrived. Warm bread & butter was mediocre. But our main dishes were really good. The seafood pasta was fresh & delicious, but the Chilean Sea Bass was exceptional. It was incredibly light, airy & buttery but a HUGE piece. The soy glaze sauce, rice & broccoli that accompanied it complimented it wonderfully. The roasted seasoned tomato looked divine but was bland, and a disappointment. The glass of Syrah was really good as well. We were overstuffed which ruined the rest of our evening - we couldn't do dessert or even visit the observation deck - I felt robbed & that we didn't get our money's worth! lol Overall - we got the great meal & experience while playing tourist in Niagra Falls. Yes it is pricey ($67 for a Chilean sea bass dinner is nothing to shrug at), but I would do it again in a heartbeat. This is a tourist attraction but it is worth it because you are paying for not just a meal but an experience! The waitstaff were very pleasant and efficient. We did not have to wait long for our appetizers, drinks, meals or dessert. The smoked salmon appetizer in particular was pretty good, with a very unique horseradish tangy concoction with onions atop that complimented the salmon well. The glazed sea bass was also good, and I particularly enjoyed the warm pecan pie to top it off. The view was amazing. It truly does rotate 360 degrees in roughly one hour, so we were able to see all the amazing sights. Warning: be wary of the photo trap. You get your photo taken before going up, and then someone comes around to take your photo while you dine. We ended up paying $75 for 5 pictures. So I visited Canada with my parents and son for spring break. I HAD to come this restaurant for the experience; a revolving restaurant around Niagara Falls, count me in! Mine: the seafood pasta was definitely a 9/10, plenary of seafood and flavor was good My son (6): 7/10, they had lettuce and tomato on his burger when we said only cheese and ketchup. Also it was $3 for cheese My dad: the salmon 8/10 it was decent, and came with rice and broccoli My mom: the sea bass, 6/10 she asked for potatoes instead of rice but they still gave rice. They quickly brought potatoes but she doesn't eat rice so it was still an inconvenience The price was definitely pricing! Each adult entree was approximately $50 + $10 for parking + the tax & fees + no refills on Diet Coke and apple juice .....it definitely adds up. This is my favorite way to enjoy the view of Niagara Falls! It's like enjoying a fancy dinner with an amazing view from inside the restaurant! We went on a summer evening and purposely reserved a table for 8:00pm so we get a daytime, night time and stunning sunset view of the falls and the city! Skylon has 2 restaurant options on top, one is the Revolving Dining Room where you get a 360 view of the city while enjoying a plated meal. The other option is the Buffet Room. You don't get 360 view from buffet dining but hey, you get more food for lesser price. Both dining options get you a pass to the Observation Deck 2 floor higher up once you finish your meal. We decided to go for the Revolving Dining Room and it didn't disappoint! The view is truly stunning from up there! Now, let's talk about food! I ordered a seafood pasta which was good. My husband ordered grilled chicken which he commented not the best but it's okay! We both said, we've had better food experience at other restaurants than there but we also went not just for the food but for the ambiance and the experience as well! Service was good and fast. I had the opportunity to travel to beautiful Canada and my last stop was seeing the infamous Niagara Falls. Recommended as a must stop, I went up the Skylon Tower and opted in for the dining option on the top revolving-floor. Sad to say I experienced bad-practice racism from the wait staff. If I'm paying good money for my food, I'd like to be greeted and treated politely if not warmly. The waiter from the get go was ridden with a scowling expression on his face demanding me and my party to go sit where they already placed the "water" - not even a hello. When I asked if there was a possibility to sit elsewhere, and kindly offered I can move my water myself, the waiter rolls their eyes and says "yeah, guess so" so bugged out as if I was Rumpelstiltskin asking for their first born! To be a major spot for a lot of tourists from all different nationalities, I empathize that tending to large groups from different cultures can be a challenge and not a walk in the park. As someone who worked in food service in a past phase in my life I understand some customers are hard to deal with. However, one thing you shouldn't do as a hospitality staff is collectively round up ALL POCs and treat your patrons standoffish, with your nose pointed high up higher than the Skylon tower itself, harboring microaggressive racism. Mind you, these international POC tourists are the ones spending the most money to eat at this establishment where you are employed. We're all just eager to be here to soak in views, and have a good time by treating ourself to a $100+ per person dinner while on vacation. It wasn't just the one waiter either, clearly they didn't like how I matched their energy and didn't suck it up like how they expected I would. The waiter proceeds to go whisper-shout to their coworkers about our table and every one of them pass by purposefully with dirty looks. And here I thought Canadians were supposed to be uber nice! I am giving this a 2 mainly because the view was beautiful. We went for dinner, 2 of us got the New York strip. Steak came out mooing with 2 potato's just slightly bigger than grapes. A tomato plopped next to it with steak seasoning that they forgot to put on the actual flavourless steaks themselves. We also got 2 servings of the meatballs, they were okay, but definitely could be made better at home. You have to take a photo or you can pass before you go up elevator They seated us within our time frame and were very nice. The seating is snug in the space they have and they had an assistant come by to take our drink order which is his job to help pass the time as our waitress was busy. The menu is alacart. Timing of our food order was a bit slow so be prepared to hail down the waitress to pay the bill. The prime rib didn't come with au jus so maybe ask for that if you prefer, it comes with horseradish dip. But the dessert was wonderful. I would have only gotten drinks and dessert looking back. It is a revolving restaurant, but I didn't feel sick or anything it is very slow . To start I ordered a moosehead beer , which was great . For appetizer I had the calamari - it was okay nothing out of the ordinary. For entree I ordered their NY steak , it was flavorless . I also had a side of mushrooms which tasted awful - I think they overdid it with the garlic or something but I couldn't even eat it . The mushrooms were taken off my check . Overall the food was not great. Nothing I would order again and I would not come back to eat here . The view was the only thing that was spectacular. We've dined here several times over the last decade. We ordered from the prix fixe menu which is very good. I enjoyed the salmon and started with the French onion soup. My partner had a garden salad followed by chicken cordon bleu. My soup and salmon were exceptionally cooked but may have been under the lamps too long as the surface was rather dry. My entire extended family came for a family meal - at 21 people (toddlers and children included), we were a massive crowd!! My table of cousins and I ordered a few appetizers to share. The calamari was delicious, the shrimp cocktail was exactly as you'd expect (meaty shrimp with classic seafood sauce), and the tomato-based seafood chowder was mediocre (sorry, cousins - I chose this appetizer but found it strikingly similar to a thinned down V8). I got the lamb rack as a main. It was good and cooked perfectly medium rare, but I found it a little underseasoned. The portion close to the bone, however, was perfect. I actually really liked the potatoes on the side. At ~$65, however... not worth. My sister got the steak, and it was also underseasoned and not very flavourful. A touch disappointing, really. My cousin got the seafood pasta and the portion was massive! Plenty of seafood (mussels, calamari, shrimp, scallops), and they even leave some cheese on the side for those who are willing to break classic Italian rules (hehe). As we had two family members with birthdays coming up, we asked the restaurant for some desserts on the house. They were so generous with this, giving us two platters of three cheesecakes each! My table also ordered a cheesecake a la carte (feels bad just having the freebies...). The classic was good, but my favourite was the chocolate "velvet" cheesecake with its pecan and coconut nougat. The reason to visit here is for the view, not the food. Overpriced for what you get.... The view is absolutely amazing. I was able to get a 360° video of the view. It takes 1 hour to do a full rotation. The dining room ambience is beautiful, classy, and romantic. No dreascode. It can be as dressy or casual as you want. Many reasons to come here for dinner. The best photo experience is next to the windows. If you don't want to have dinner here, the observation deck above the dining room can be done at a cost. The observation deck was very windy and cold, which was surprising as there was little to no wind on the ground. There is a fence around the deck, so getting a good photo was difficult through the fence. The staff was friendly and professional. I felt like I was in an upscale place with how proper the staff was. In my reservation, I was able to put in reason for visit and I put that my husband and I were celebrating 20 years married. They brought us a free dessert and said happy anniversary. Reservations can be made on their website. The food....(sigh). I wish it was better. My husband got the lamb. It was overcooked and the portions were small, especially the scallops appetizer. The food is not worth the price. We were still hungry after we left and we paid $265 for our dinner. Since it was a big family gathering, we decided to take pictures with the beautiful falls. So with the help of the staff, we took few pics, and finally we picked 7 to print out ! Below is the price chart, I read few times before we started. I also asked questions " 5 pictures for 50 dollars , right ? " and got the answer " Yes" However, when we checked out, the price was $135 with tax. The reason is : you have 4 packages instead of 1. I told the staff : it is a family, no separate bill ! Why we were being treated as 4 ! Answer is : policy of the company. Below is their calculation: After argument, the supervisor ( she claimed herself as supervisor ) decided to drop off to $ 90 dollars plus tax. She even said : if you can not afford it, pls do not take it. What an insult! I told her : 1) it is not a question of affordability . it is a question of Being affair. 2) I live in a multi-million house in Fohthill, how do you think ? Save your money on mediocre food and just pay to visit the observation deck. We had a reservation for the Revolving Dining Room and were seated within ten minutes of our reservation. It is very cramped dining with just ok views. So many lights reflect on the glass and it mars the scene. We ordered several appetizers with our meal and nothing was outstanding. Most was just barely edible. I expected more from such an attraction but I was greatly disappointed. Service was just ok but the poor guys just looked beat down and they forgot one of our items. The food here is very mediocre and VERY expensive. It is supposed to be fancy but the food just misses. The staff seemed annoyed that we just wanted appetizers even though we ordered $160 worth of appetizers. There are price minimums. This would have been a 3 or 4 star if they didn't lie about the view. That is what made me the most upset. On the website it says "all the tables have window views" while that is technically true, half of the tables have a horrible view. The views from the observatory deck from the Skylon tower overlooking Niagara Falls are absolutely breathtaking and well worth the visit, even if the chilly weather could be considered a trade off. The price was reasonable for such an iconic experience, but there were a few hiccups with the elevator situation. Out of the three elevators, only two were in service: one for going up and one for going down. While the line to go up was quick and efficient, the wait to come down was a bit frustrating. The line stretched nearly a quarter of the top floor, which meant we had to linger a while longer than expected. There were also only two working restrooms in the lower floor which in order to get to you'd have to go through what looked like a run down arcade place which seemed alittle confusing. That said, the stunning views of the falls made all the wait more bearable, and it's hard to beat that kind of scenery. Definitely a must-visit if you're in Niagara, just be prepared for a bit of a wait on busy days. read more

SO MANY BETTER OPTIONS THAN THIS... This is a warning, if you are not willing to spend more than $52/per person for your meal, they will charge you that. It does not matter if you share or not, as they discourage this, even if their portion size is large (16 oz. prime rib). To start at the beginning...we decided we had enough walking for the day (15,000 steps by 5pm), and wanted to drive and park then off to another event. The Skylon Tower will NOT validate, so on top of your very expensive meal, be prepared for $10-15 more for parking. Once you are parked, you have to walk through an 80s style arcade (built in early 80s and never updated) to wait in line for the elevator. The place is really showing its age. This is due to pictures being taken. We had many pictures taken from all events from the day and when we politely asked to by-pass the attendant said we had to wait in line with everyone else until our turn came up. Pictures were $40+ for one, just so you know. The elevator ride up is beautiful and quick. The operators can be funny. We were seated immediately. The view was breathtaking. You can get the view from the observation deck without spending the huge amount on dinner. Our two waiters seemed to be attentive, getting our drinks and an appetizer right away. I noticed in the station they were serving from some cheese setting out without any chill on it - they would pull from there for dishes. We ordered two salads, one for the kids to share, and one for the adults to share. While one wait staff took that order to the computer, the other started to take our entree order. We were notified when we ordered two $70 prime rib dishes (plus salads, cocktails, and an appetizer) that we would be charged an additional $52 for the sharing of the dishes. Even though we made our case we never will eat 32oz (2 lbs!) of prime rib between us, it did not matter. He said he would give us time to think about what we want to do. I wanted to leave - but it would be a $208 minimum charge at that point. So, we stayed and ordered the prime rib for two of us and the mediterranean chicken for the other two. We cancelled the order for our salads. At this point, our evening was pretty much destroyed - kids were upset, they didn't want to waste the food (the money wasn't the issue) as no one in our family eats that much (I know many of you are not the same - please respect we do not have to stuff ourselves to feel satisfied). The food came - it was very good. Chicken was outstanding. Prime rib was excellent. It is too bad our wait staff neglected us due to the discussion earlier. We had to collect our own appetizer plates to make enough room for the entrees. We did order desert as well, however we were disappointed as the Amaretto Torte was dry and looked like the whipped cream on top had been removed then replaced, with some residue left over. We had spent $348 between the four of us because we had to have a quota of $52/per person. Had we been able to divide the total tab between four stations as originally planned, we would have spent $212, which would have come to the quota. Add in the parking. Ugh. What a money grab. There are many places that serve just as good meals, such as Scratch Kitchen at Old Stone Mill, Corso Italian in the Hilton, etc. Spend your money there, not at this run down excuse for fine dining - the "fine" part is a real stretch. The food was really good. Being in a tour group we were seated and waiters were attentive. My main issue was with the buffet organization. They had 2 salad bars and only one entree station that both lines were fighting over. The stations had little room to maneuver around. It was horrible with people reaching over you around you and acting rude because they couldn't get to the entree they wanted. If you booked a reservation you get to come up to Observation tower for free. You get to see a speculator view of the entire region. I did enjoy the ambience and beautiful view. The staff was professional and attentive. The food was overrated. I wasn't happy with the food. Pricey and undercooked. Raw vegetables with a sprinkle of whatever it was on the top. I was disappointed to pay that amount of money for tasteless and undercooked food. I was amazed how the revolving dining room rotated around in a 360 degree. My mother in law ordered chicken but barely touched it. Thing is, we came for really was the view. We called twice and asked to be near a window. We were told that they couldn't promise but that they would try to accommodate. Then as soon as we arrive, a woman with long blond hair tells us parties of 5 can't be seated by a window. We explained that it would have been nice to be told that of the phone - at least to manage expectations. But later that night, we saw tables of 5 seated by windows! This kind of thing can ruin evenings, even entire trips. We will not be back. read more

This is an older observation tower that overlooks Niagara Falls. Upon first glance, it looks like a smaller version of the CN Tower. It is only 469 feet tall. Other than the observation deck, this tower is known for having a revolving restaurant at the top. This is not a must see attraction. And if you're going to visit Toronto as well and go to the CN Tower, I would skip this one. read more

Skylon Tower - Canadian (New) Near Me - Niagara Falls, Ontario

We had an unpleasant experience at the Skylon Tower while escorting an elderly relative using a walker. There were signs that directed people to wait at the elevator to the main ticketing/check-in level, but after waiting 15 minutes, we gave up and awkwardly used the escalator. While checking in, we were directed to the long line for the elevator, without anyone recognizing that an elderly woman using a walker may not be capable of waiting on their feet for long periods of time. After I insisted, they eventually let us onto the express elevator. The food was fine, and service at the table was prompt and courteous. But the poor user experience for disabled people is unacceptable. Staff need better training, and the elevators need to accommodate people who can't use an escalator. read more

The Observation Deck is free with the purchase of a meal. The dining room rotates around as you eat! Menu & Tasting4/5 MANGO & PEACH COCKTAILS (not included as part of 3 course meal) - We ordered drinks separately. It comes with an optional tower glass souvenir which you can take home. It's a cute touch! The drinks themselves were okay, a lot more ice than I wanted, but still tasted delicious. TOMATO BASE CHOWDER (not included as part of 3 course meal) We wanted to start off our meal with an appetizer and we chose the tomato chowder. It came with lobster and a puff pastry on the side. ROAST PRIME RIB - Ordered this dish in medium rare, it was perfectly soft, came with a side of sweet potato mash, broccoli, and potatoes. BEEF TIPS - Beef tips were okay, I felt like it could have been slightly softer. Came with the same sides as the roast prime rib. CHOCOLATE CHANTILLY - Served with a mousse and Oreo crumbs. First of all, view amazing! Excellent service (Danielle & ?)! I'm glad we dined here, it was a nice experience. My husband had the $60.00 pork chop, he liked it. The Caesar salad ($16.00) looked like iceberg lettuce, boxed croutons & bagged parm cheese. More of an effort should be made, like shaved parm cheese .Baguette & butter helped. I had the 3 course dinner. Little salad was fine, beef stroganoff was weird, made with red & green peppers, no mushrooms, fettuccine, beef & sauce was ok (overpowered by the peppers) desert was supposed to be chocolate mousse I think, it tasted like an Oreo cookie with cool whip. It feels like most of the restaurants are hoping the guests are mesmerized with the view and won't notice the mediocre food. Came here for the view more than the food. I went for the dinner buffet and requested a window seat when I made the reservation online. Service was good, food was okay but not great for the price. Also the buffet line was confusing. Having people start at both sides of the line made people feel like people were cutting in line and it made it uncomfortable to get food. The dessert was the best part of it. read more
