One word. Tommy. This guy is a stud. First of all, I'm 65 years old. All the folks that Cyclegear could be my children, but yet they treat me as I'm part of the "in crowd", lol! They're just all superior kids... and it starts with the manager. Great guy. But Tommy. This guy is the gold standard. He's one of the most knowledgeable people I have ever come across in the industry. Never tries to sell me anything I don't need. Always looking after my best interest. Sometimes it means a more expensive product and sometimes it means a less expensive product. Honesty...it goes a long way with me. So why the review now after knowing him for quite some time. May I just say the staff here were amazing and extremely helpful. I came in not knowing a thing about motorcycle wheels and explain to the people in the front that I stabbed my ex-boyfriend's front tire and carved my name on his 2004 Harley Road King (can you guess why) and wanted to buy a new one. And they were more than happy to assist with helping me find a replacement tire and what sizes I needed along with the tube that goes inside the tire. They also suggested wet sanding to help remove my name I carved on the bike, guess this is more common than you think. read more

Huge selection of riding gear and accessories available in all sizes. Hardest part is deciding which one to buy with so many choices. I ended up with a nice leather jacket, a riding hoodie with back, shoulder, and elbow pads as well as a nice pair of riding gloves. Prices are all very reasonable. The selection of helmets is out of this world. Definitely was worth the trip over the hill to get my selection as I was unsure of my sizing since I'd lost 70 lbs since last summer and some leather can be uncomfortable and stiff! I reserved the helmet online and when I went to pick it up there was no box, I asked about that and the associate said "yeah, no box, sorry". I didn't think much of it, but when I got home and looked at the snell sticker it was from 2010 and the cheek pads were frayed. I've purchase a few things from this store and they've always been helpful and pretty good, but this is beyond disappointing. When I took the helmet back for a return I didn't even get as much as an apology. Selling a 6+ year old helmet isn't just a simple mistake. It was intentional. This store is now an epitome of the worst kind of retail experience one can have and is no longer recommended for any substantial purchases. Day 1: i primarily needed bluetooth driving/riding directions and i started browsing the various Cardo equipment on display in the store. Store Employee 1: A tall guy (Jacob ?) pointed out the basic differences very succinctly and i picked one in the middle of the range. My other need was to see if i could pair the cardo wirelessly to a motovlogging setup. I previously had chatted with store Employee 2 and he was very knowledgeable to point me to online resources for the POV camera mounting needs. I also needed the cardo mounted on my helmet- as i didn't want to make a mistake- and damage anything. Employee 1 agreed to do the 'install' and had employee 2 actually do it, and were actually smirking the whole time. I was charged about the same as online but also nudged into a an additional 7% as a 3 year warranty- no written details on what is excluded from the warranty was provided- but the verbal description from employee 1 seemed comprehensive enough so i paid. (No mention of the fact of any 2 yr free oem warranty from Cardo was provided). The cardo was useless on my way back- as there are specific setup/usage instructions that the shop should have provided for a seamless experience. On a short ride soon thereafter, i discovered that the cardo had slipped from its 'latch mount'- not adhesive- and was in a precarious nearly vertical position. This also meant that head checks to the left were getting severely restricted- becoming a safety issue. Further , the install wasn't done correctly- and the mike was never attached. Since it was becoming a safety issue- i decided to return to the store with the intent of returning it- and instead picking up a newer quiet helmet- either a neotec or a schuberth c5. Day 2: I return to the store and barely a few feet inside the door - i get a very rude remark from Employee 3- as 'hey can i help you with something'- while his demeanor suggested that he doesn't want to spend any time actually helping anyone. Employee 4 - whispers to Employee 3- 'its installed..'. I start by trying to explain that i want to return this due to..and am promptly interrupted mid-sentence - 'sir there is a SIGN - right there on the desk- that no returns after 'install'. I start to protest by saying 'but there were no such caveats when i paid..'- and again promptly interrupted 'SIR THERE IS A SIGN RIGHT THERE..DO YOU NOT SEE IT..NO RETURNS AFTER INSTALLS..' I left. Note: the desk is the last place anyone looks at- its rather dirty and has a machine shop appearance- with parts being metallic. Additionally its obscured/partially by various pos equipment and other containers. What it really is just a classic old school way to swindle customers - 'we have your money now- and we no longer care to do any business with you- and you have absolutely have no recourse now'. Also note: they had no compulsion taking back a helmet from another customer- no questions asked. What should have happened- and why the store (and thus the company) will continue to lose business and be overtaken entirely by online business at some point: - up until a year ago or so the front desk would have politely said ' we dont do any installs'- and that is far more acceptable - Day 1: a clear explanation of the no-returns policy should have been provided- instead of focussing just getting the customer to pay more for the 'warranty'. There is no reason to specifically disparage customers with older helmets (its not that old- and has served me well). The cardo should have been installed far more securely- as well as the mike. - Day 2: Employee 3 is , frankly, unprofessional/menacing and should either be reassigned to back office- or terminated. In a more charged scenario- his demeanor can lead to a regrettable escalation. Employee 4- should be monitored via actual feedback received from paying customers- and coached appropriately and only then assigned to front desk. This same employee has a most unprofessional conduct in prior visits as well. Disparages anyone wanting to buy- a helmet from their store- at anything below a $1000. Has a perfunctory behavior in showing winter/waterproof gloves and discussing pros/cons. Accosts customers in too much of in-your-face attitude browsing the merchandise. Employee 1 needs to be far more detailed oriented- and should be available physically onsite- during regular hours- or should be available for a phone call- so we don't have to deal with Employee 3. Also note that unlike prior visits- the entire team on the floor is different than earlier- and as far as visible- all are men. The prior team had a mix, and thus far greater emotional intelligence in customer interaction. Summary: the store can be visited for low amount merchandise, that don't require any significant expertise on usage. For anything greater than 50 bucks- amazon is just fine. read more

She's asked me what I was looking for and I told her helmets. I walked straight over to that section and she told me to holler if I needed anything. After a few, the young bearded man was walking to the back and I happened to ask a quick question which quickly became a very intimate conversation about helmets and the different brands. So I'm just starting to get into motorcycles, which can be a bit intimidating as you start learning and gearing up. I went in three weeks ago on a Thursday afternoon looking to buy my first helmet and gloves. My friends advised me to buy online as it cheaper, but I prefer buying in person as I like to feel the products. Anyhow, I walk in saying that I need my first helmet and I'm pretty sure I'm a large after measuring myself. The guy in the helmet area directs me to one of the most expensive Arai helmets (around 800 bucks) they had, and begins talking a thousand words a minute about it as though I know what he's talking about (pin lock was mentioned 10 times). I did just tell him I'm looking for my first one so I don't get why he's using acronyms without explaining what I means. I leave it on as I figured I need to check the fit of a large. After he's done talking, he doesn't bother asking me what I'm looking for and tells me to leave it on for a minute. I went ahead and looked at trying on the two brands I had in mind after talking to friends, Bell and Shoei, as I was trying to decide if I wanted to invest in a quality beginner line (Bell) or the more expensive but still in my price range Shoei. Guy comes back and sees I have both and proceeds to tell me that he has that very Shoei im holding and how Bell sucks and look how it'll do terrible in the rain (cuz it rains so often here...) and how I should buy the Shoei. Do they work on commission? Anyhow he still didn't bother asking me what I was looking for and I felt all he cared about was up selling on whatever I was holding that was more expensive. I went there hoping to gain knowledge, confidence and help figuring out what made sense for me, but that didn't happen. I was ready to buy a helmet and gloves that day a solid $500 purchase, but I didn't buy anything as I was pretty ticked at the guys selling strategy especially for a noob like myself. Did I mention he never asked what I wanted? Ended up buying online instead, the very helmet I was holding in my hand and gloves I found that day. I went in and found some things that I liked and tried to have them ship it from one of their other locations. All seemed pretty good, because it was practically coming from Palo Alto. Took almost two weeks to get here!! I could have walked to and from Palo Alto 500 times and bought/returned/bought/returned the stuff over and over again before I finally received them. I absolutely cannot stress enough that you should not have them transfer things. It seems to be way about their skill levels. Anyway, staff is friendly and they have a pretty wide selection. This is a pretty big store and they have a lot gear at some reasonable prices. I'm a new rider so I came in looking for a helmet, jacket and gloves. It was kind of hard to pick because there was so much to choose from. I know a popular brand was Alpinestar so I just tried on a bunch and tried to see which was the most comfortable. Of course all gear needs to be a bit snug because it will stretch or break in a bit. I'm 5'10 and 165 lbs so I got a medium for pretty much everything. The helmets were a bit tricky because I wasn't looking to drop $600 but I also didn't want to go for the sale cheap ones under a hundred. They have a bunch of helmets out on displayed so I just went ahead and put on a bunch until I felt it was right. Settled on a $200 Sedici Strada helmet. The jacket and gloves were a bit easier. I just chose an Alpinestar meshy type jacket because summer is around the corner and same with the gloves. When it gets to the colder season I'll definitely be back here to buy more stuff. Yes they're still open! Their prices are comparable to lots of online sites for everything they have. This is my go to spot for engine oil and random motorcycle tools. The staff is very friendly and they staff enough people on the floor that you'll always find help as soon as you're ready. It doesn't seem like the staff is working off commission as i've never felt that i've been pressured to every buy anything. They also have plenty of motorcycle parking out front of the shop. There is plenty of parking allocated for Cycle Gear so you'll always find parking within seconds when you make your visit! read more
