Our cabin was 45 minutes away and we had no luck with Uber. He took our family of 5 back to our cabin. One of her roommates' dad came out and changed the starter for her, but it still wouldn't start. I found Brown's Automotive on Google and had the car towed there based on proximity to her house and Google reviews. When I got there I told him that we just put a brand new starter on it, but it still wasn't starting. I told him that I lived out of town, so I needed it repaired quickly. He said he would look at it, but has a mandatory $150 for the first hour. I said ok. He called me and said the new starter was faulty and had to replace it. He did, then called back and said his starter didn't fix the problem either and thought it was the ignition. He said it would take time because it is hard to get to. Well, I didn't hear from him in 2 days. I texted and no response. I called and he just said same thing "I'm working on it, but think it's the ignition." I didn't hear from him again for several days, so her dad called him. He told him that he couldn't work on the car because it was raining and he works on cars outside. I told him he lied to you because he has a big shop with 2 bays. After having the car for exactly 7 days, he finally calls me and says "There is nothing more I can do. I think its the ignition, but to test it I have to take the steering column apart, if I do that I mine as well just replace it." So basically since the day he got it, he changed out a brand new starter that we just put on it and did nothing else with it. Just let it sit for 6 days. So I told him I was going to have it towed somewhere else. He charged me $460. I knew immediately that he was screwing me over, but I just wanted my car back and to finally go home so I paid it. I looked at the receipt and saw he charged $160 for the part which I new was right, the $150 for the labor which he told me in advance about, and then $150 for diagnosis. He didn't diagnose anything because he never touched the car after the starter. Then I noticed at the bottom of the receipt he wrote "car won't start ignition?" Was that what I paid $150 for? That is NOT a diagnosis! The new mechanic sent me a video to show he didn't even put the heat cover over the starter he installed (see attached pictures). So he also screwed me over for the $150 half-ass installation he did. What a crook! Do NOT waste your money. I think all of these positive reviews are just family and friends of his and not real customers.

State Farm ended up totaling my van and gave me plenty of time before they were going to pick it up. I asked if they could please remove the trailer hitch and made it plain I would pay for that. I was curtly told they didn't have time for that with it sitting on their lot for over a week. I don't know if my appearance (long hair) or my having my service dogs with me. They kept trying to tell me that pets weren't allowed in the rental van my insurance secured because I have 2 large service dogs. Enterprise had no issues with this but the guy at Willbanks obviously did. Overall a very bad experience dealing with this shop.

After paying hundreds of dollars for the tow truck to deliver to the shop the owner BJ and his colleague informed me that he did not know how to repair the truck. BJ then tells me he has a friend he could call to repair the truck. He never called the friend and kept saying the friend was busy. He refused to give me the friend's info as promised, continuously lied about the status of the truck and parts, and eventually complained that I needed to stop hounding him because he doesn't have time to deal with it. After weeks of waiting I called a tow truck to remove my vehicle and BJ parked another vehicle in front of my truck and made up a bogus claim that I owed him money for storage fees and refused me my vehicle. To make matters worse, I call the police to assist me with the issue and they gave me a really hard time and sided with him without any legitimate reasons and advised him to go put a lien on the vehicle while I was there to retrieve it. He did not have any type of work order or contract( obviously because he couldn't repair it). There was never any mentioning of a storage fee prior to me trying to retrieve my truck. I would have reasoned and payed something, but BJ came up with an outrageous number. Unfortunately, there were signs I ignored in the beginning that showed I wasn't welcomed there, but I guess he knew he had plans to scam money from me. STAY AWAY FROM THIS TOWN, SEEK HELP SOMEWHERE ELSE!

They took me right in. treated me like family. explained to me what was going on. it took them only a couple hours and they went straight to the problem after multiple shops couldn't find the issue. they fixed it at a affordable price. i have not had a problem with it since. i highly highly recommend this shop. The reason I decided to go to them is that a friend has been using them for a while to repair her older Honda Accord, and they always treated her right. I saw a review by someone else bashing them for lack of service, but I happen to know that a couple of members of their family had some heath struggles a while back, and with this being a family owned and operated business, that was unfortunate and difficult. My guess is that this person got impacted by that, which is a shame, but I can say without question, that it was unusual, and not the way that this business is run. They are honest, and reliable, and that is not only uncommon these days, but it is of great importance! I will continue to do business with them.
