Woohoo! This place is amazing and Stephen is a rock star in my eyes. We had just purchased a new PC and transitioned from Windows 10 to Windows 11 in the process. We were having issues with our Comcast modem and weak network in our new house and needed advice on using a router to get a stronger wi-fi signa. When my 5-year-old HP Slimline desktop computer suddenly died, I was frantic to find a computer repair technician. Naturally, this happened on a Saturday during the pandemic, so most places were closed and had long wait lists. Steven came to my rescue. Having never met me before, he spent 15 minutes of his time determining it was not worth the expense for me to repair my computer, advising me about suitable and affordable replacement models, and explaining how I could extract my hard drive to place it into an external enclosure for data import to the new computer. Can't tell you how much I appreciated Steven and his customer service, or should I say, "not even" customer service. Since Sunday I have spent way too many hours thinking I could fix my laptop after it just decided that Wifi wasn't something it wanted to do anymore. Steve responded immediately to my emergency request during the holidays when my laptop gave up the ghost in the middle of a story I was writing. He did troubleshooting over the phone and although we didn't know for sure at that point, correctly diagnosed the problem. He was able to come in the next day and run comprehensive diagnostics and when it turned out that my hard drive was in fact failing, he retrieved and saved all of my data to my backup computer on the spot. (I'd thought I'd backed everything up to DropBox three days prior, but the backup failed and I would have lost several days of writing and revisions. Doublecheck your backups, kids!) Steve also made several recommendations about protecting and optimizing my new computer, encrypting my stuff and making redundant backups, all of which I was able to do on my own.
