I had high hopes for this guy because he sounded intelligent and on his game, but I'm very disappointed. I had a laptop that wouldn't start up. Instead of looking at the laptop, he suggested I buy a new one. I also had an older tower that had many miles on it. He also suggested I buy a new one of those. He gave me a website and offered specifications on the new computers. He said he would come over wipe out all the old stuff, and switch over files into new tower. My computers arrived. However after he arrived, the laptop started right up. (Duh), now I have two laptops. His suggestion was either to send the new laptop back or put the old laptop up for sale. He spent a long while trying to switch Adobe Illustrator over to new tower among other things. I was trying my best to stay calm and cool because I have some artwork on there that I sell as cards. He was unable to save the Adobe Illustrator and said he would find someone on his staff to resolve that problem. I'm still waiting. His labor cost $312.50. Albeit, he did not count the time he spent trying to save my Adobe files. I still have four computers, one laptop with wiped files and another one that still has old files on it. All in all everything cost $972.48. Wanna buy a like-new laptop? In the meantime, I had a friend come over and in about 30 minutes had the Adobe Illustrator switched to the new tower. I am much relieved about the save on Adobe Illustrator. However, I'm feeling duped, and much poorer for this experience. read more

We've had STTM fix two of our machines just a week apart. My son's computer hasn't been able to get an internet connection for months. Steven fixed it in less than an hour. The same teenager fried my laptop about a month ago. Took it to STTM today, diagnosed and fixed within an hour. Two machines up and running beautifully for $80? Incredible. When my daughter 'reconfigured' my laptop by pulling out the F key, ALT key, CTRL key and the space bar key i was beside my self. I was afraid of going to one of the big box places like Best Buy's Geek Squad. A friend at Starbucks recommended Slave to the Machine and i got in touch with Steven. Not only was his price affordable, he was prompt, courteous and didn't treat me like a moron for not knowing much about computers. He fixed most of my keys on the spot and ordered parts for the rest. So this is pretty much long over due! A few months (February) ago I got my laptop back after leaving it with a friend after moving here to Portland. Let's just say it was a little worse for wear. It was barely functioning. Now me being the impatient gaming nerd that I am pretty much needed it fixed immediately, which is how I came across Steven. I had a water damaged HTC M8 One with a busted screen, security PIN, and priceless data I wanted to retrieve. I was called back immediately and walked through my options- being talked to the entire time like I was a capable adult. He advised me that trying to fix the screen would be cheaper than full on data recovery since a new phone was on the way. Steven was responsive, corresponded several times by e-mail to make sure I had what I needed, then came to me to perform the fix on my laptop so I didn't have ANY downtime without my computer. I had an ugly DC jack issue (tripped on the cord and pulled it most of the way out, bent the frame, and he not only fixed that, but downloaded several useful utilities for me, all in an hour. My wifi simply stopped working at some point. I tried to do everything I knew to resolve the issue without IT help. I do know a few amateur things about computers, but this was bigger than my scope of understanding. Initial few phone calls were free to isolate the problem as being more than just a setting, faulty wifi card, etc. He even recommended over the phone to redownload the motherboard drive. Still just free advice at this point and turning into multiple phone calls. I also met up with him three times.....Though, in the end, I almost stumped even Stephen! He took my computer with him for the night and he had to do two partial hard drive wipes and then redownload the software that got lost. I lost no personal data and got my computer back! Some of the software did get lost like my Microsoft Office, but there are so many ways around that (some are free) and he gave suggestions. ...... During this time of problem solving, I did go to Costco; I bought a fancy new computer, and was completely ready to call the old one dead. The day Stephen got my computer to work, I returned the new one. He was certainly persistent as I had given up on that computer. He saved me a lot of money to keep using my old computer. I cannot speak highly enough of Steven and his service. After a corrupt update killed my comp and sent it into a catastrophic boot loop I was in a panic. The Geek Squad service I normally use as my first reference espoused several different fixes. Each cost me money I couldn't afford and each failed. Finally they said get a new machine and send the old one off to a data recovery facility. Numerous visits to Geek Squad and a fair amount of money wasted convinced me I needed to find a better option. Steven came to my rescue. He was absolutely the best. Steven was able not only to recover the data I feared lost, but was able to restore the computer to full functionality. Even better, he beat Geek Squad's best case quoted price by 300 bucks, and did in one afternoon what they had said would take "6-10 weeks and only maybe get back 80% of my data."
