I had high hopes for Sleep Number, but my experience was incredibly disappointing. I spent nearly $4,000 between the mattress, pillows, shipping, and related fees on what I believed would be a premium sleep setup. Unfortunately, the mattress that arrived felt nothing like the one I tested in the showroom. The in-store model felt supportive and high quality. What was delivered to my home felt more like a glorified air mattress. The pillow buying experience wasn't much better. I had to make multiple trips back to the store and exchange pillows several times before finding one that was even remotely acceptable. After three trips back and forth, I finally settled on a pillow that I still don't particularly like. For a company that markets itself as a sleep expert, I expected much better products. The entire trial period was filled with anxiety because I couldn't wait for the return window to open. I kept trying to convince myself I would adjust to it, but every night I was reminded that it simply wasn't comfortable. My fiancé would move a leg and I would feel my shoulders start to move from the motion transfer. The biggest shock came when I actually lifted the mattress and realized that most of what I had paid for was essentially an air chamber system. It was difficult to understand how a mattress at this price point could feel like it was made up largely of air. The fees made the experience even worse. I paid over $500 in delivery and related charges, which is far more than what many competing mattress companies charge. Most competitors offer low-cost delivery and free returns or pickups if you're unhappy. Sleep Number charged me a substantial amount to deliver the mattress and then another $250 to return it. Paying some of the highest delivery and return fees in the industry for what is arguably one of the lightest mattresses on the market is hard to justify. What really frustrated me was watching the pickup crew remove the mattress. They literally dragged it across my apartment floors and down the outdoor entrance onto a dirty sidewalk. Seeing how casually it was handled made it obvious that the mattress wasn't being carefully returned to inventory or even donated. It looked like it was headed straight for disposal. Knowing that, it's even harder to understand why customers are charged such excessive delivery and return fees. To me it seems like it could a way to fully cover their costs for the horrible mattresses even when customers are not satisfied. For a company that markets itself as a premium sleep brand, I expected a premium product. Instead, I received a mattress that felt nothing like the showroom model, spent weeks counting down the days until I could return it, had to repeatedly exchange pillows to find one I could tolerate, and ended up paying $500+ in fees for the privilege of returning everything. Between the massive fees, the difference between the showroom mattress and the delivered product, the pillow hassle, and the realization that much of the mattress is essentially an air system, the entire process felt more like a costly lesson than a premium purchase. This was one of the most disappointing purchases I've ever made, and I would strongly encourage anyone considering Sleep Number to carefully review the product construction, fees, and return policy before spending their money. I had horrible anxiety each night of the trial because every move I made was affecting my partner's sleep and vice versa. I would encourage prospective customers to compare Sleep Number with other mattress brands before making a purchase decision. Over a week ago I was on my everyday indoor bike ride when I spied with my little eye on a Sleep Number van pull up and park in front of my kitchen window. I immediately said to myself Ooo, sleep number! That sounds nice. Of course I'd heard of them but I wasn't really in the market for a mattress. I found my way to their website to do a little further research and then texted my son asking if I could have a Sleep Number bed for my Christmas gift. That's sort of how gifts from him go. I never know what I want and often weeks and months pass and then I come up with something and he gets it for me. It's never anything as practical as a bed, it's typically boots, a handbag, jewelry... so I'm sure he was shocked at such an ask. He laughed at me and said Sure! He wanted me to go check them out in person before I got one to ensure I liked it. Luckily for me they have a location in Studio City on my regular neighborhood walk route. I kept forgetting to go in and eventually found myself through their door last Saturday. I was greeted by Damien who start to finish helped answer all of my questions. The entire experience was a breeze and I told him I'd think about it and get back to him. My son purchased the smart bed, base and frame which will be delivered ten days from now. This also includes the removal of my current mattress and box spring. If I'm lucky I can get them to drag my old frame downstairs too. I'm most excited about the sleep data, since I'm a big nerd and geek out on stuff like that. As a very active individual I am very much looking forward to some quality rest and rejuvenation in the new bed. I'm so thankful for my sons purchase and Damien's assistance, it's a serious upgrade from the HoMedics white noise machine I ordered months back to try and get some sleep. Forget Sleep Number beds if you expect any form of customer service - ever. This company couldn't care less about its customers. We bought a Sleep Number bed with all the bells and whistles. We were promised that their bed, unlike ALL OTHERS, doesn't slide off the base because of some very "strong magnets". That is true UNLESS you elevate the head of the bed. Their magnets do NOT hold and daily the bed is about 2 inches off the base. Why buy it if you can't use it? Because it's. a king bed, I cannot push this heavy mattress back. Pillows fall at the head of the bed through the opening and you need to reach way under to retrieve them, always. After calling customer service, I was told I could "purchase the bars"that will hold the bed in place. I asked why I would need to purchase them if this is clearly a design flaw. I asked to speak with a Supervisor. She told me that if I use the feature that elevates the head, "there could be some movement... up to 2 inches". Why wasn't I told that, before purchasing the bed for $6000.00? There is so much competition today on these mattresses, check them out before buying. They know more than sleep Number because they include the bars at NO extra cost and you can pay 1/2 of what Sleep Number charges. By the way, the supervisor, after telling me that if I use the elevation benefit of the bed, it could move forward, and if I wanted the bars that would stop the bed from moving, I'd have to pay - and when I challenged her and said "why?", SHE HUNG UP ON ME! I tried to find a corporate number (she should be reported, amount other issues) there isn't one! NO CORPORATE NUMBER! And, if you live on the west coast or have Pacific time, they close now at 3 PM. A store employee I spoke with said they have new hours now because of less business. No kidding. I would NEVER recommend anything from this company or their lousy product. Save your money and buy elsewhere! Also note that if you buy a split top, Sleep Number is the only place you can get sheets and they are overpriced, of course! We bought a Sleep Number bed on 12/1/24 after hearing all my friends who love theirs. Our salesman said delivery should be within 2 weeks, but it wasn't scheduled until 1/25/25. We were told that because we bought the adjustable frame, we needed to remove the slats under the current mattress ourselves because the installers won't do that. Fine. We had a handyman come the night before to remove the slats. The bed frame was ready. The next day, 1/24/25 the delivery was supposed to happen between 9am-12pm and we had received multiple texts and emails that this was our delivery date. At 9:15 we receive a text that the delivery date has been changed to 2/7!!! We called customer support and got a very apathetic man on the phone who said he can't do anything about it. We had no where to sleep as our current bed was taken apart! We called again, got transferred to a higher up who said he could move the delivery to 1/31. That didn't work for us so we cancelled our order. And it's funny because 15 years ago, again looking at buying a Sleep Number bed and I saw many reviews about how bad the customer service was so we didn't buy it then. I don't typically give reviews, especially negative reviews, but our experience was so bad that I felt compelled to share this with the public. We purchased a bed on 12.9.24. It was scheduled to be delivered on 1.15.25 and they attempted to deliver it. The FlexFit 2 Smart Base frame for the ClimateCool Smart Bed wouldn't fit within our new bed due to the lips that the slats rest on of the bedframe extended out too far. (Side Note: the fix for this was to order tall legs so that the base would sit above the lips of the bed frame). The delivery driver advised that we send the frame and mattress back and order the frame that doesn't elevate your feet. Due to his experience in the field, that type of frame is what would work. After researching the situation, we learned that Sleep Number offers a "Tall Leg Kit" for this situation. So, we purchased it and set up a new delivery date of 1.22.25. On 1.22.25 the delivery driver informs us that he is on the way to "Install the new legs". I asked was he installing the legs on the bed he's bringing as well, and he informed me that he didn't have a bed. So, I called into customer service to set up a new delivery date appointment and let them know what had just taken place. I was transferred twice during that call and spent 2 hours and 1 minute on the phone with them in that one occurrence. Also, I was insulted by the Customer Service manage alluding to the mishap of the installation of new legs vs. a bed delivery being my fault. Now how it was my fault, on God in Heaven knows b/c I ordered the legs directly off of the website myself. I did not have a CS rep order them for me. Nonetheless, they showed no empathy or concern for our inconvenience during that call. Moving on we set up the third deliver for today, Feb.12th b/c they were no other available time slots. The delivery driver called and said he was in route for the "exchange". I informed him that this is not an exchange, but a delivery. He said okay and then called back to say he could deliver the bed and set it up because on an exchange they don't have the air pump and other electronics they need to have the bed functioning, so we would have to set up another delivery date. I THINK NOT! Even returning the bed has been a hassle to this point, because the store personnel didn't properly return the correct amount of pillows and sheets we purchased, and they couldn't return the tall leg kit in store. Overall, I could assume that we just had a bad experience, but after reading some of the other bad reviews, I now know that the Customer Service team at Sleep number is either incompetent or they have no regard for their customer base. I'm so glad that we didn't move forward with this purchase. I will never step foot in another Sleep Number store. read more

This is the worst company I've ever dealt with! They are the best until they get your credit card info. After they collect your money, they don't deliver and you can't reach customer service. I was told that the installers would take away my old bed before installing the new one, but when the installers arrived they refused to touch the old bed, and customer service was nowhere to be found after this happened (I waited on the phone TWICE for 45 minutes.). I had an exceptional experience with Sleep Number associate Douglas Garcia. I bought a bed from another company. They only offer one mattress type - firm. Very firm. Simultaneously, my sister purchased a mattress set from Sleep Number. She has severe pain throughout her body and (forgive me, sister) is a very shrewd buyer with highly lofty expectations. While my body continued to hurt night after night, increasing since I bought that bed (and I did give it three months to settle down), she was sleeping comfortably throughout the night and raving about her experience. At her request, I visited SN and spent a great deal of time testing beds; that night, I bought the most amazing bed I have ever slept in (I10 Queen 360 Smart Bed), including at high-end hotels. It's been an exceptional experience. Douglas is professional, knowledgeable (not pushy), and solely focused on finding the best product for the client and their well-being. He is ethical; aside from being an excellent listener and asking the right questions, he finds creative solutions based on one's budget. My wife and I were in the market for a new mattress. She had been complaining of back pain and numbness while sleeping. I had read very good reviews about sleep number, so we decided to go to Sherman oaks location. We where met with the store manager, Ricky, where he helped us through the entire process. I have to tell it's not often you meet people with such care for customers. His product knowledge was superb. Ricky took us through a complete analysis and his attention to detail was impeccable. We felt so comfortable with him and his service that we were delighted to spend thousands on a superior product. (P6 with adjustable frame) I highly recommend purchasing a sleep number, and if your close enough to Sherman Oaks, it would be worth your time going in and personally asking for Ricky. I can not say enough good things about this Sleep Number store! Our sales associate Douglas was fantastic. We came into the store looking to buy a Sleep Number bed. Our current Sleep Number bed is/was 18 years old and it was time for an upgrade! Lol! Douglas took his time and walked us through everything, answered our questions and put zero pressure on us. Even after we tested the top of the line model (i10) he still wanted us to check out the other models just in case. :) Oh, we still went with the i10 but it was nice to have options. Our bed was just delivered yesterday (Woohoo!!) and it is INCREDIBLE!!! What's even more incredible is that Douglas called us today and wanted to check in and see how everything went! I wish I could give this company and product zero stars. It will murder your sleep pattern and break your back. I purchased a split king mattress from them, one of the "best ones" they offer I was told. The mattress was terrible and when I called to have it returned they convinced me to exchange it without telling me that the exchange would be a final purchase. I'm still within the hundredth day period Now they tell me we're stuck with this awful king bed, neither I nor my pregnant wife can get a decent nights sleep. When I called to discuss the return I spoke to a condescending "Tiffany" who was just plain mean, despite the fact that I at first wanted some information about my return. Now I have to take these folks to court over their fine print which is unconscionable. These air mattresses are complete garbage, and they usually don't have return customers I'm guessing. Do not make the same mistake we made. Update: Don't be fooled by the follow up review below from the sleep number rep. We paid the return fees of over $200. It's a $4000 purchase. They should have just let us return the bed instead manipulating us into getting a different style. Like I said we bought this bed less than 30 days ago. Purchased a Sleep Number bed from this location about 12 years ago. Stil one of the best purchases and customer service experiences I've had. Visited again a few weeks back with a friend to test drive some newer bed models. Michelle was so friendly and informative. Took her time and gave us a lot of great info! Went back again last week to purchase a pillow to go with my kick ass bed. Michelle again took the time to really help me find the right pillow for my needs. Nailed it with a Curved Support Memory Fiber Pillow. On sale too! A few days later I took it out of the bag and noticed that the tags had been cut off the pillow. I figured it was just a mistake and left a message at the store asking to exchange it for a pillow that was completely in tact. Received a voicemail back very quickly from Toni who apologized and let me know it would be taken care of. Here's where the customer service goes off the charts. A couple hours later there's a knock at my door. It's a UPS delivery. Figured it was my Amazon order and opened the box. Inside, a brand new pillow with tags. THE SAME DAY. DELIVERED TO MY DOOR. I was already so pleased with the customer service from Michelle and Toni at the store and their attention to the very minor error. But, folks, you just don't see this kind of service all that much anymore. So when it happens, people need to know. Sleep Number, you have a customer for life. read more

I bought the I8 split king with adjustable base on 12/24/2015 and received it on 1/13/2016. The bed arrived much more quickly than I was led to believe. Delivery and installation was smooth and on time as promised. I paid a little under $10,000 using a 36 month no-interest payment plan. I asked if I could receive a discount if I just paid up front without the plan and was told no, the price is the same regardless of payment method. I feel it's way overpriced for what it is (lots of inexpensive foam, an air mattress, and a fancy package), but I was desperate for a solution due to several years of back pain. Based on early impressions I am optimistic about my back. I was told the bed had a 25-year warranty, but after asking a few questions, I learned it's really a 2-year warranty. The 23 years of prorated warranty are just a useless gimmick in my opinion. I was told they had a 100 day trial period during which I could return the bed (for a restocking fee of $200) or switch to a different model for no charge. After asking a few more questions, I learned they would NOT take back the adjustable base (which was over half the total cost). My interpretation of this was that there are no refunds on anything if you get the full package (what's the point of returning the mattress if you can't return the base?). Overall, I think the sales approach is misleading. You need to know what to ask because if you take their word for face value, you would be wrong in your understanding. The delivery guys called to give me a 15-minute notice which was nice. They were polite and knowledgable, but I wish they were a little more attentive to cleanliness. They used their shoes in my bedroom, and they did not use "white gloves" which I would have appreciated. The salesperson assured me there would be no smell, which I knew could not be true. Reading the booklet, I learned the foam padding in the topper was to be left open to enlarge and de-fume for 4 hours, but the installers put the bed all together immediately. So I unzipped the top cover and let the foam air out for the rest of the day. The chemical fumes were what I would call unbearably CHOKING. They instantly gave me a headache and sore throat being in the room for a few minutes. To be fair I am the "sensitive type" but my wife is the "normal type" and was uncomfortable in the room. I would have preferred a more natural or "organic" material, or at least something that wasn't so noxious. I think the foam needs to air out for several days before use. But this is very inconvenient. I have the windows open and the fans on and we decided to sleep downstairs on the couch to avoid the fumes for at least 1 night, and we'll decide later on the 2nd night, etc... Other than setting up delivery, I have not had to deal with customer service, so have no comment on their quality of service. read more

I feel soooooooo comfortable in this bed !!! Glad we invested In this matters! Shenia helped us out. She recommended some sheets for a problem my fiancée has been having - bingo ! He's out! Covered up like a baby under a blanket - glad they worked for $200 sheets :) she was kind & professional. We bought our Sleep Number bed at the Sherman Oaks store just over a year ago. I can't remember if I had written a review at the time, but our salesman, Damien, called us this week to "check in." Who checks in on their customers a year after a purchase?!? He had already checked in with us a month or so in, and then again at about 6 months in. From the moment we walked in the store last summer, Damien was an AMAZING associate. He was not pushy at all, he is very patient, and he is a terrific listener. Ask for him by name (when the store reopens)! We ended up buying a top of the line Sleep Number 360 Smart Bed, and it is the best purchase we have made in the last year! Both my wife and I sleep so much better than we used to, and my snoring has almost completely gone away. We wake up refreshed and happy. We've noticed that when we travel, we REALLY miss our Sleep Number bed. I can't recommend the bed highly enough. read more

Sleep Number sent me a foam top to help, sorry, it doesn't help. When the foam frame which is part of the bed is higher than the air mattress, you're going to feel the difference and the middle of the bed is like a valley, falling into it. We were guided through a tour of all the different beds and how the technology works, then helped in selecting the bed that best met our needs. They helped us set up the mobile app and guided us through what kind of bedding fits our CA split king. Great help throughout the process and both are genuinely nice people. Sleep Number is the most despicable company we have ever had the displeasure of working with. We had a perfectly good bed with 2 working remotes. We asked that they send someone out who could possibly move things around and make it better. They sent two morons who had no idea what they were doing. They broke our bed so bad that it can't be fixed. Those idiots also broke our 2 remotes. I am handicapped and ill and that bed was a lifeline for me. Sleep number said they would help us and call us but they are liars. No calls, no help. I am definitely obtaining a lawyer. UGHMAZING!!!! Natalie is sharp, helpful and on top of everything! I have NEVER in my life met a customer service employee with her dedication and amazing attitude. My husband and I had a few hiccups with figuring out exactly what we wanted in our mattress, Natalie spent over an hour with us in the store answering all of our questions, showing us in depth what would work best for us, she listened to us blabbing about our sleeping patterns and problems we had...and she accommodated every one of our needs. I highly recommend this sleep number location and although we had assistance from most of the employees there, Natalie definitely went a step above and beyond to make our happiness a priority. Great sales staff here...I would give it a higher rating were it just on friendliness and knowledge of sales staff alone, but the the primary product that they sell is just not great in my opinion. We were pretty sold on getting one of their top of the line beds so we ran the financing to see how we would possibly like to crunch the numbers. We ended up not wanting to go through with the bed - on repeated visits is started feeling too much like an air mattress for us. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER, Don't do it! June 1st we decide to purchase of the x12 because we felt the product look and feel lived up to the price. Upon purchase I was told and given paperwork that said the bed would be delivered in 14 days or less. Delivery was set for June 9th. When I asked for confirmation that the headboard brackets would be delivered with the bed, I was told those would arrive 2 weeks later. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told they would "call me right back". They never did, I had to call them-I was told the appointment on the 9th was gone but the good news was that I would have the brackets and the bed at the same time, ON THE 25th, 24 days after purchase!! That was obviously unacceptable, especially when I lost the appointment because the supervisor NEVER called ME! June 11th, the bed arrives. You should know, they build the bed at your house. It is not a traditional bed. About 20 min into set-up the technician asked us for the wheel caskets so the bed "would not roll" when we got in and out of it. Off to OSH hardware. When we returned with the caskets, the technician responded- "did you get 2 packs?, the bed has 8 legs. Off to OSH we went AGAIN. OInce back, I peeked at the bed. IT LOOKED LIKE A HOSPITAL BED! The ugly legs totally exposed and the bed was so high they should give you a free step stool at purchase. This WAS NOT the bed we bought at the store. We were told- "oh, you have add the silhouette to make it look nice, the store should have told you this. We immediately called the store and spoke to the Manager Rick. Rick offered to sell us the $799 silhouette or a cheaper bed skirt option. Yes, let me spend $10k on a bed a put a grandma bed skirt on it. (no offence grandmas). We insisted this is not the bed we bought, expressed how disappointed we were and would like to explore a refund. He simply said ok. We had to push him to do right, to call his DM, to offer us SOMETHING to want to keep this bed. He reluctantly agreed to try to help us. During this encounter with Rick, I checked on the technician building the bed who informed me it was not working properly- that we could either have the sleepIQ work or the adjustable base but not both at this time. We were told someone would have to come back which would probably be A WEEK later. At this point, we refused to accept the bed. It was ugly (MISSING a $799 piece we were told was included and NOT WORKING). I was told because the bed was "almost made" we had to keep it and call customer service for a pick up return. Off they went while we were left with a non-working $10k bed that was stuck on sleep number 100 because you cannot even adjust your number. You can't even sit on the bed it is so high. Look at pic, it is taller than a barstool!!! June 12th I called Sleep Number customer service and although a nice lady named Sara tried very hard to keep us in the bed I expressed I wanted out. I was also told she needed to get permission to waive the restocking fee- REALLY!?! Like I should pay to return a broken bed with missing parts that we refused at delivery!?!?! She tells me it was waived and submitted the paperwork for a return pick-up and someone would be calling me. June 16th Guess what? Nobody called me to schedule a pick-up, I needed to call them. Upon my call to customer service was told I had to talk to dispatch who they told me that the earliest they could pick-up the bed was June 25th- 2 weeks for when I tried to deny receiving it! I am stuck with a non-working stiff as a board bed? That's ok? Well that is the customer service you receive with Sleep Number. When I explained that I will personally disassemble the bed (easy since it is not a real bed) and store it in my driveway until the 25th they somehow felt that was not "fair or right" but it is somehow fair and right for us to sleep in a broken bed for 2 wks. Imagine if you keep a bed past the trial period and it breaks- it will take WEEKS for someone to come out and fix it!!! DON'T DO IT. SAY NO TO SLEEP NUMBER. Sleeping in a hostel is a better experience than dealing with or sleeping on a sleep number. Sales staff were professional and friendly. The product is good only if two people have different requirements for a bed. Otherwise I would never get a plastic air bed. I would give them a 3 star for the product. A two star for the manager who is defensive and not that knowledgeable. A 5 star for the sales staff. read more

You need to know this-- Yes the bed is amazing, the minute I tried it I had to buy it. BUT, the delivery time right now is a month and a half. I've been waiting for the bed and I'm scheduled to receive it exactly a month in a half from the date of my purchase. When I called to complain, they told me twice they're having shipping problems. Like most reviews, I'll start by saying the staff at the store are very nice. However, the company does very little to provide quality in addition to what the 2 people at the store presented. I don't even have the interest to go into the MANY details as to how Sleep Number has provided poor customer service. I will say that it started in August when we were told they were updating their computer system. That has been a fall back excuse for them ever since on about 1/2 the problems we've experienced. Both my wife and I have not ever felt so dissatisfied to go to the trouble to post a horrible review. But Sleep Number deserves it and you deserve better. It is unfortunate because the product is good, and the sales staff deserves better support. And the price is at a level where they should absolutely be able to afford having systems in place for everyone you come into contact with to be able to help in a timely and professional manner. But every time there is some reason why the person you've reached doesn't have access to something to help. Unbelievable. I will say this in closing, we were told to try the split California king and that if we didn't like it to just exchange it with a phone call. We don't like the split. Getting it exchanged has been ridiculous. The technician/delivery team was scheduled in a 4 hour window. Never showed, never called. Neither did anyone else. So we called. And were told that they showed up at the warehouse and the bed wasn't there, so they didn't come.!!! You make beds. There wasn't a bed in the warehouse???? Someone needs to do an OVERHAUL on the operations of this place. And as many times as we had to call through the course of this process- the current CEO, Shelly Ibach, needs to take her voice message of an apology OFF their phone service - I've heard it now so many times I want to scream. Very disappointed and our family has several of their beds - no referrals coming from us. I wish I knew somewhere to refer their kind and helpful sales staff to go for a job at a quality company. So now here we are waiting again for them to arrive to exchange this bed... ugh. And it's taking so long, the local store actually warned me that if the mattress pad is more than 30 days old we can't exchange it for one that will fit our replacement mattress. I need to stop now and go find someone to compliment. This is depressing. read more

We just purchased an i8 adjustable bed, we love the bed! It's wonderful, the staff, was great, very helpful and knowledgeable. The set up in our home was flawless, on time, excellent service and an explanation of everything! Unfortunately, that night I was bitten by a bug, i got violently ill,I found the bug, killed it, saved it,went to urgent care and called my exterminator. The exterminator said it was a blister beetle not found in this part of California. I called sleep number the next day, and asked where our bed came from, they said Utah. Hmmm... I'm not faulting them because things happen. When I called the manager for them to be aware of the situation so this would not happen to anyone else, he was very nice. Then a few days later the supervisor called to see how we liked the bed, my husband shared the story with him, suggesting that maybe the bug came with the packaging and asked if he would pay the dr bill for us. He bristled at the possibility that the bug could have come from the bed or packaging. He said, he would take no responsibility unless we could prove the bug came from their factory. Not even a could this possibly happen or I'm sorry this happened, all I was looking for was some acknowledgement that this could have happened or some goodwill! On a side note I went to the new MEND urgent care and they were AMAZING! Hope you never need them but if you do, they are fantastic! THANK YOU CHRIS FOR REACHING OUT! That is all I wanted! read more

Went in to look at pillows, have to say the staff there (especially Michelle) were very helpful and knowledgeable. Michelle never tried to up-sale me or have my look at anything that I was not interested in. I will definitely be back to this store when it is time to get a new bed. read more
