SO ONO! GOOD GRINDZ, YEAH! Basically translates to "so good & really good food." So there's two locations for Kilauea Fish Market - this location in Kapaa and obviously Kilauea. We ended up getting the Ono and Ahi wraps. These bad boys are made with a tomato wrap surrounding fillings of fish, mung bean sprouts, carrots, cucumber, cabbage, and a creamy sesame dressing. These were so good we ended up getting two more Ono wraps for the road. The Ahi wrap I had was lightly seared and was delicious (as well as the Ono wrap). The Kapaa location is somewhat hidden as you need to go behind the Coconut Marketplace to find it. Definitely check out this place for some good grindz! read more

Amazing fish wrap. Got the Ono "mochi" style so it came out wonderfully crunchy. Great crunchy vegetables with a creamy dressing inside. You know it's good when you're still oohing and ahhing until the very last bite. Had the ginger aide which was fantastic, haven't been able to find it elsewhere on the island elsewhere. Went here last night for dinner while on vacation. It's a small place so it can be hard to find, but it's cute. The woman at the counter was very nice and helped us with our food selection! They do takeout and have a couple tables for dine-in. My boyfriend went with the Ono fish tacos and I had the Korean bbq chicken plate with Macaroni potato salad and brown rice. My boyfriend said his were in his top three all time favorite fish tacos! My plate was very tasty and it was perfect for a quick local dinner. This is a great place for lunch or take out. The down fall is, its hard to find. It is located behind the coconut market place in the parking lot of The Islander Hotel. After a week eating "lunch plates" we had found through Yelp, we found Kilauea Fish Market and ordered, as recommended by other Yelp reviewers, the Seared Ahi Wrap and the Fish Tacos. Maybe it's because we are mainlanders from San Francisco but we found this to be the best, most affordable food we had eaten all week. We couldn't have found this in the Mission but I wouldn't say that this is where the locals eat. Received a recommendation to check this place out and with the great reviews, we thought we would give it a try. Unfortunately my experience wasn't the greatest. Ordering a fried fish burrito, I was excitement quickly turned to disappointment. I found my fish to be inedible though my girlfriend's was just okay. (Maybe mine was just a fluke?) Located at the corner of the Coconut shopping plaza area. There were plenty of parking spots when we arrived (around 6:30pm). The line was not long at all; we were able to place our orders almost right away! We ordered the teriyaki chicken plate and also the grilled shrimp plate. Both were delicious... especially the shrimp plate. My husband usually doesn't like shrimp but he actually enjoyed the grilled shrimps here. My wife and I were on Kauai for our honeymoon and saw the positive ratings on yelp so we decided to stop by. Are we ever glad we did! We ended up eating here more than at any other restaurant during our stay. The Poke was wonderful, the Ono wraps and Ahi-Tuna wraps were really, really good, and even the brown rice was cooked perfectly. They even sprinkled a few sesame seeds on top of the rice - just a nice added touch that shows the little extra effort they put in everything. The fish is as fresh as you can get - they get it from the local boats. My wife has soy and wheat allergies and they were very accommodating and altered their existing dishes so she could eat them. The portion sizes were just right, the staff was really friendly, the atmosphere is casual and relaxed, and the restaurant is extremely clean. They're right off of the highway, but you have to drive behind the Coconut Marketplace to the shops right next to the Islander to find them.
