The pork was so crispy it was basically a bacon taco in disguise, piled with fresh cabbage slaw and a sweet-spicy salsa that had me seriously considering ordering another round. The fish taco was fresh, bright, and exactly what you want from a taco stand a stone's throw from the ocean. The homemade tortillas were the real star of the show. Warm, fresh, and packed with flavor, they elevated everything wrapped inside them. The kids both got quesadillas, and the highest compliment a parent can give is that there wasn't a molecule left on either plate. My wife ordered the tofu tacos and thought they were fine - not great, not terrible. But let's be honest: nobody flies to Hawaii and says, "Take me to the best tofu taco stand on the island." The staff was friendly enough, the atmosphere was fantastic, and the walls were covered in cool artwork and quirky local references that gave the place a ton of personality. Well...the freshly made tortillas taste delicious. And it's interior, what it is, is a funky cool. But if you're going to get food here (and you experienced what we did) definitely get a quesadilla (with your meat of choice) instead of a taco. I say this with complete conviction because the tacos we had (carne asada) maybe had 2-3 small pieces of meat and the other 95% of the taco the cabbage slaw. This couldn't be right, but it was how every taco we received was prepared. The quesadilla wasn't overflowing with the filler and tasted much better. Maybe they didn't like me, I don't know. This was our first stop after arriving on the island. This place is always hopping! It's a small location, kind of a hole in the wall, with seating inside and outside. The disco lights in the restroom were fun and comical. We ordered our food and some drinks and waited for our name to be called. We grabbed a table and chairs outside. The food was ready quickly. These tacos are HUGE! I thought it was a couple of tacos. Nope. It's one taco. It could honestly be a burrito lol. I got the Al pastor, my oldest got the pulled pork and my youngest got chicken. Pretty solid spot for tacos. They definitely don't skimp on size. They were all good but the Kalua pork taco was really amazing and special. The fish tacos were solid, and the crispy pork was pretty good but the Kalua pork was the one I'd go back for. The not spicy sauce is incredible. You come for the tacos, not the ambiance. The server answered our questions about the tacos but a miscommunication led to me ordering 2 fish tacos after she said one was fried, only to find out they don't have fried fish so we just ended up getting 2 of the same taco when we would have liked to try something different. When we asked her about it, she just said they didn't have fried fish and didn't make an effort to resolve the misunderstanding. My first experience with Tiki Tacos and the owner was at an off site event and he only served a limited set menu. Everyone around me was smiling watching me take my first bite because as a Kauaʻi girl, I surprisingly never ate here before. The taco was incredible! Meat tender, incredible sauces, and the taco itself, handmade and delicious. Shortly after, I dreamed of it again and had to stop by their physical location and the staff was friendly and the parking lot was spacious. Fast forward to today, I stopped in and saw the owner and needed to order what I had at that off site event. He was so kind and did remember so I got that and the paniolo asada. Before he wrapped up my order, he very kindly mentioned to eat the beef asada first and the paniolo second to enhance the experience. Tried the kahuna fish taco--yummy overall, but the fish flavor didn't really come through. The true imu kalua pig taco was better--crispy, salty, and satisfying. Worth the hype? Yes! But choose a taco wisely and arrive early. The homemade tortillas made these some darn good tacos but the "Best Fish Taco" did need some extra sauce. Yes fine, the tacos are expensive, but, they are more than double the size of a normal taco. The service is fabulous, me and my family were greeted kindly upon walking in the door and were given "the rundown." We were recommended fish and the exquisite pig tacos. The tacos are large, the tortillas are decent, but they do break on the bottom so be careful. Over the years, it feels like the quantity of meat they put in the tacos has decreased, but the flavors are still good. Still have wipes for the tables. They have also branched out on Kauai with other locations. We always go to this location since this is where we like staying, but great to know we could get Tiki tacos in the South side in Waimea if we had to on a day adventure. We went here multiple times. WEnt really well with a generous helping of slaw, cheese, and whatever that secret sauce on top was! This place is not fancy. Delicious taco stand type street tacos. I love that their food is gluten free. The spicy fish tacos are one of my favorites but everything is good. Don't forget to try all their sauces. My favorite are the green and the habanero. They have spicy delicious flavors but are not overpowering. They also have real Mexican coke in a bottle. Good tacos! They're big and pretty filling, and I like that they come with sauce and sour cream. I got the grilled veggies which were decently flavorful, and the quesadilla with marinated tofu added. The tofu seemed to be more to bulk up the quesadilla than to add flavor, because it wasn't that much flavor coming from the tofu. Still, I enjoyed both of them.
