This was a pretty awful eating experience. It's very pricey, I think it was close to $15 for 2 tacos and rice and beans, although I was grateful for the rice and beans as the tacos were so measly I wouldn't have gotten full. You can't mix and match the tacos. I had carne asada and the meat was fine but there was so little of it in the taco. It had "pico de gallo" on top which for them was literally chopped white onion and cilantro. That's all. My husband had ahi tacos and they had something that tasted like a mayonnaise-type coleslaw? Again with very little meat. So disappointing. Skip this and go to Little Fatty's down the street (except sadly it's only open Thursday-Sunday!). read more

Was driving everywhere to find somewhere to eat. Was gonna eat at our usual spot Bread and Deli in kukui grove (their clam chowder bowls for 8$ is so good) but they were closed (everything closes super early on Kauai aside from all the tourist spots in Kapaa) we settled for this Mexican food truck and it was really good. 18$ is a little steep for me but it is in kapaa and a big portion. The chimichanga was huge and I always love having something fresh to go with it as all the meat beans and rice can be heavy. On top they put lettuce, tomatoes some guacamole cheese and sour cream. The beans on the side were a little bland and the rice is well, rice. The meat was very tender and all in all good. I was surprised that they didn't have horchata, my boyfriend and I always look forward to trying new horchatas from different Mexican eatery's so we were a little bummed out about that. Since Kapaa is a busy road and it's kind of off the main road it's a little hard to find parking. I think there was a parking lot across the street but hard to tell, we just pulled over on the side of the food truck. Very small family-owned and operated food truck with picnic table seating and absolutely delicious Mexican delicacies in the heart of Kapa'a. I stopped by here yesterday with my wife for dinner. We had tried to go to El Taco Felix the day prior but they were out of rice and so the wait would have been around 40 minutes (30 minutes for the rice on top of 10 minutes we were already waiting) and so we decided to come back the next night. Taco Felix is a permanent food truck right on the Kuhio Highway. On the day that we were there they had at least 2 people working, maybe 3, and also had 3 covered picnic tables you could sit at and eat out front. For dinner on this day I decided to go with the Diablo burrito while my wife went with the shrimp tacos special. After placing my order I was told they had no asada and no chorizo on that day and so I would have to pick something else. Ultimately I ended up choosing a shrimp burrito for my dinner. It took about 15 minutes from ordering until our food was ready with the tacos coming out a couple of minutes before the burrito. My wife ended up loving the tacos, especially the fresh made tortillas they were on as well as the shrimp. Then my burrito was pretty good as well. My shrimp were sweet and well cooked and everything else you would expect in a burrito was inside it as well. The bottom line from me is that I would stop by here again in the future. Both my wife and I enjoyed our food and I would like to try that Diablo burrito at some point. read more

I would like to give this place 5 stars because it's really good! But they were out of carnitas and that's what I really wanted. I got a carne asada burrito instead. It was awesome tasting! I tried one of the hot sauces and it was hella spicy. Maybe I shoulda read the bottle before dumping whatever on my burrito. There are 3 tables to sit at. I was a little bothered by the ants on the tables. But this is an outdoor place, not an inside restaurant. So it's a pretty simple thing to just grab some food, eat, and leave. The best Mexican food out here in kauai. Honestly it does not compare to any other place. My husband and I tried the Mahi Mahi taco plate with rice and beans and it's to die for. We also had the Carne Asada tacos super delicious and so tasty. They have a spicy sauce that's just a killer. If you are looking for Authentic Mexican you must try. Prices are reasonable and definitely worth it. By the way there's a Mexican Restaurant next to them and yes we also tried there food but honestly over priced and it did not taste as good and fresh as this spot. This place is legit. It's a food truck with 3 bench-style tables outside. I highly recommend getting something saucy here as I think all their secrets are in the sauce. I have lived in both Texas and Mexico and have had my fair share of authentic Mexican food and EL TACO FELIZ is the real deal from her homemade tortillas to every single touch of seasoning, cilantro, fresh guacamole. This place cannot be beat. I also saw someone complain about the wait for food. Every time I've gone my taco platter never takes longer than 5 minutes but if you have to wait or there is a line of people waiting for food... Good things don't happen fast. There are fast food places for that. This woman is cooking everything solo and her son runs her orders.
