Chicken tacos
Danielle P.

I ended up ordering here one night when our original dinner plans fell through. It was getting later in the day and a lot of places close early. This place was right down the street from where we were staying. I walked in and was helped right away. I had asked if I could order to go and it wasn't going to be a problem at all. I ordered and paid and was told I could have a seat while I waited. The place is cute and there's a decent amount of seating available. The order didn't take long and the server grabbed several containers of salsa for me. My youngest ordered chicken tacos which she seemed to enjoy. My oldest got the carne asada fries which looked amazing. She couldn't finish it in one sitting. I went with the Al pastor tacos and they were decent, but I've had better elsewhere.

Menudo / authentic and delicious!

We're from San Diego so we KNOW authentic Mexican cuisine! Paco's was just next door and had menudo from Friday 11:00 and the weekend, so we had to go!! Server, she was so nice and friendly! Menudo, on point and authentic, prepared well, great chile flavor without being too spicy, excellent clean flavors and herbs/spices. Fish tacos, they have both grilled and Baja style (seasoned battered and fried). They use fresh Island Ono or other fresh local fish. Ceviche is with local Ono and fresh. Chips and salsa on point, cold cerveza from Modelo, Corona, Tecate along with large Michelada's, margaritas and other Mexican libations. Come for the menudo, tacos and ceviche! Oh, other menu items are carnitas, carne asada, chicken tacos, enchiladas, mole and other typical fare. Casual but fun ambience.

Not much to say. The food was phenomenal. I almost started to lick my plate. The chips for my salsa were so warm and good. The shrimp were a healthy size and plentiful. Overall an enjoyable experience. Highly recommend. The waitress was polite. The service was good

Good food. I had the 3 shrimp taco Tuesday special and my husband had the chicken mole enchilada with rice and beans. Good atmosphere and friendly service.

We stopped in here because it was crowded.. hoping for good and inexpensive tacos. The carne asada tacos were barely seasoned and the ceviche was grainy.. never seen ceviche grainy before so I didn't eat it. Maybe the other menu items are better but I should've known with the multi colored chips.

Went to 3 of their locations and each location has workers who are of this culture. Food was amazing all 3 places and service was great!

Food was ok. It wasn't super warm or hot. I feel like there are better places for sure to get a good authentic taco.

The people were friendly. However, food was mediocre, and spicy margaritas was not spicy and mainly ice.

Everything we tried was amazing. Specifically the chimichangas and the mole. The service was great. Best Mexican food we've had in Kapaa.

For dinner, we ordered the Hawaiian pizza and chef's veggies to share. The pizza was topped with kalua pork, pineapple, scallions, and a unique sauce. Pretty good. We wanted to eat some greens so we asked about the chef's veggies. It was roasted broccoli, bell pepper, and squash. Delicious and seasoned well. For drinks, I ordered a green-tini and my mom got a virgin lava lava flow. I actually preferred her drink over mine. The green-tini had a nice kick to it. Can definitely taste the jalapeño. The virgin lava lava flow was sweet and creamy. Perfect way to end the night! The restaurant and bar definitely get crowded, but there's plenty of space inside and outside. You can get a nice view of the beach. The weather is always good, so we sat outside. The bartender was also super kind and checked on us multiple times to see if we needed anything else. It can feel a little touristy, but I still think it's worth a visit.

Lava Lava Beach Club is absolutely worth visiting for the overall experience…read more The location is spectacular--right on the ocean with beautiful outdoor seating, tables overlooking the beach, and even swings where you can relax while enjoying the view. They also have lawn games to keep you entertained while waiting for your table, which makes the wait much more enjoyable. We didn't have a reservation and waited about 30 minutes, but it wasn't a problem. We grabbed cocktails at the bar, and they were outstanding. They are definitely on the expensive side, but they were beautifully made, well-balanced, and worth the splurge. The atmosphere is what really makes this place special. Between the oceanfront setting, live music, and friendly, attentive service, it's a wonderful place to spend an evening. The food, however, was a bit of a mixed experience. I ordered the coconut shrimp, and unfortunately they were overfried--quite dark and a little too crispy for my taste. My husband enjoyed his teriyaki steak with rice, so that was a much better choice. We also tried the calamari, which was just okay. The pieces were small, heavily breaded, and fried. I've definitely had better calamari elsewhere. Overall, I think you're paying as much for the incredible location, atmosphere, and service as you are for the food. I'm glad we went, and I would recommend visiting at least once for the beautiful setting, tropical cocktails, and live music. Just know that, in our experience, there are other restaurants on Kauai where the food is the real star. Would I return? Yes--for the view, the cocktails, and the atmosphere. For the food alone, I'd probably explore some of Kauai's other excellent local restaurants first.

I can't remember exactly which poke varieties we got, but I believe one was their shoyu poke and the other was a spicy ahi. Regardless, everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. This is exactly the kind of mom-and-pop spot I love finding while traveling. No frills, just friendly people serving great food at reasonable prices. The poke was fresh, the karaage was flavorful, and the lau lau was tender and comforting. The staff was welcoming, the portions were generous, and the prices were fair, especially considering the quality of the food. There are plenty of places to eat on Kauai, but spots like this are what make a trip memorable. We'll definitely be back the next time we're on the island.

And take it, somewhere else, to eat. No tables or seats, in this market. We ate ours, in the car, before heading to the airport. It was delicious, really fresh. Opens at 6am, so has that "We just caught this" feel. And not as "Pricey" as some Yelp Reviewers claimed it to be.

When I went there even happened to be some live music. It made for a lovely family friendly ambiance I got the "Next Level" bowl with additional soursop - Pros: way more filling than I expected. The peanut butter and coconut chunks definitely added heft. I loved the texture of the coconut chunks that added a chunky bite, whereas the granola added a light crisp. The textures were really fun to eat. The açai base wasn't overly sweet - Cons: aside from banana, any other fruit is additional $2.50, which is pretty pricey. In total, my bowl came to $20. It was unfortunate that the soursop wasn't fruit chunks, but instead a puree In addition to the standard menu, today they had a special bowl with assorted fruit on top, yum. I recommend getting the acai bowls over the shaved iced. There are better shave ice places on the island. There are a ton of benches as well to eat!!
