We sat on the patio by the pool and luckily the umbrella was large enough to block the sun! The food all tasted great. The crab dip with 6 or 8 pieces of toasted focaccia was high quality with real crab not surimi. We ordered the flatbread with chicken instead of pork and it was also very good with a nice crispy crust and moist chicken chunks. The wedge salad was a large piece with crisp bacon, candied pecans, grape tomato halves and a tasty dressing. It only needed some red onion to make it perfect. We were staying at the resort and had money in credit so we got both breakfast and lunch here. The food is okay. Breakfast is better. The pancakes were good. But everything is very pricey and we had better breakfast elsewhere on the island. Lunch was also okay. Nothing to write home about. The one good thing was their Holoholo pie for dessert. Very tasty. We likely never would have eaten here is we didn't have the credit to spend. It was our first night in Kauai after a very long day of traveling. We were looking forward to a relaxing evening. I started with a wonderful glass of brut rose. We were told that the pupi portions were large and could easily be shared. This was true and we split the calamari and my husband found it to be too salty. We both had the fresh catch. He had ahi tuna and I had mancha which I was told was like halibut. It was thinner than halibut and reminded me of mahi-mahi. It was suggested to have it pan seared to make sure it was not overcooked. Well, it was a bit fry from being overcooked. I had a double portion of green vegetables which turned out to be 4 pieces of asparagus. My husband's ahi was served a bit more than seared and rare. I was skeptical of this place only because it was the only restaurant at the hotel we were staying at. A lot of the times the hotels restaurants aren't all that good but I was pleasantly surprised with the dinner I had here. The dinner was great and is 5 stars. I also came for happy hour another time and they only had fried food for happy hour. The fried shrimp and calamari we had was just "average" for that part. The dinner though was good if you order strategically like how we did it. We ordered the steak without any sauce on it and it was cooked really well and was a quality piece of meat. Mashed potatoes were on point. My wife ordered the poke bowl and we shared both the steak and poke together and it made a nice combo of a dinner. The service was as you would expect at a hotel pool side restaurant and we had zero complaints. Ambience is right next to the pool at the hotel with plenty of tents to protect from the rain in case it rains. There is also a covered area, but we choose to sit outside. I am not sure if I would give this place 5 stars had I choosen different items, but I guess because I ordered well, the food that we got was pretty good. We were fortunate enough to have this spot inside our hotel. Anyone can eat here so I love that it's open for everyone to try. We ordered breakfast, lunch and dinner at one point during our one week stay. I can say that nothing and I mean nothing disappoints. Their breakfast options were mouthwatering with Mac nut pancakes and French toast. Then we tried their poke bowls many times and loved how fresh it was and an ahi that was incredibly savory. They are generous with their portions and even though you may feel stuffed, you'll finish every last bite. Came here for dinner with my family. We had stayed at the resort all week and hadn't frequented this restaurant much but it was our Kash night here, so we decided to give it a try for a sit down. Throughout the week, we had gotten some drinks from their bar. A pina colado and a molado during happy hour and then also the ahi poke wrap and the ahi poke bowl for takeout around lunchtime. Food came out quickly. The poke bowl was good and I liked the fried onion, seaweed salad, and edamame additions. The fish itself was decent, not fishy tasting at all. The rice was alright; it was a large portion for a meal so i ended up not finishing the rice but that was fine. For dinner, I ordered the fish and chips, my parents ordered burgers, my sister ordered a flatbread and my brother ordered stir fry with chicken. The portions were very generous. My fish and chips were good. I liked the fish - breading to fish ratio. The pineapple tartar sauce was a bit odd tasting though and if I ordered that meal again I'd ask for normal tartar sauce. I had some of my brother's stir fry and the veggies were really good - I liked the mushrooms. Fries were nice and crispy. My mom and I also tried the lilikoi cheesecake having heard it's one of THE things to try when on the island. The taste of the lilikoi was good but the cheesecake itself was just okay. Loved this place as well stayed in koloa landing. I just wish there were "inside" seating, especially if its raining or just dont want to be outdoors, but this is the only option at the hotel. But for the food, they are pretty great. We ate here for breakfast and dinner and were satisfied almost every time. We loved their surfer breakfast burrito and their ribeye steak. We ate here quite a bit as our room/building was very close and we had room credit. Service was a little slow and weird with the front desk as we did take out a couple of times. We got up extra early to see the turtles on Brennecke's Beach. We headed over to Holoholo Grill afterwords for breakfast. The restaurant is located inside a resort, with a view of the "best pool in America". (According to the signs.) Super friendly staff with the welcoming aloha spirit! I ordered the standard egg breakfast which came with Portuguese sausage (or bacon) smashed potatoes, and toast. I don't think I've ever had Portuguese sausage before but it was delicious!! The smashed potatoes were something I've never seen on a breakfast menu! Basically a baked red potato, smashed flat. As much as I love standard hash browns, I really enjoyed the smashed potatoes! We brought our friend here for breakfast. This is another done of our stops when in Kauai. The atmosphere is like being in a lanai not far from the resort pool. But beware, roosters and hens are looking for treats that you may have dropped. Even though the restaurant was busy, our server, Carla, took great care of us. I had the Loco Moco which was flavorful especially with the crispy onions on top of the two fried sunny side eggs. The hamburger must have been half a pound. I didn't think I could handle it. I normally don't leave reviews, but I feel like this needs to be said. The food here was decent, but the experience was extremely uncomfortable due to one of the staff members. There was a girl working, Karrianne, who was very openly flirting with my husband right in front of me, smiling excessively, lingering at our table, and making unnecessary comments that felt completely unprofessional. I understand being friendly to customers, but there's a clear line between good service and inappropriate behavior, and this crossed it. It made what should've been a nice meal feel awkward and disrespectful. Management might want to address professionalism with staff, because situations like this can easily drive customers away. I hope this was just a one-time issue, but it definitely left a bad impression. read more
