Some of the best fish tacos of my life I was looking for a quick lunch close to our Airbnb and came across Tony's Catch on Yelp. It had been named one of Yelp's top food trucks in the nation, so I had to give it a try--and it did not disappoint. Located right on the side of the highway in Kapa'a, Kauai, Tony's Catch sits in a group of about six other food trucks. From the outside it looks pretty simple--just a white truck with a menu--but don't let that fool you. I ordered the mahi-mahi fish tacos, which came with red rice and beans, and I have to say they were some of the best fish tacos I've had in my life. My wife ordered the fish and chips (also mahi mahi), and it was delicious too. I've eaten at plenty of food trucks over the years, and this one takes the top spot. Overall: 5 stars for the food, 5 stars for the location--right next to the beach. I totally recommend it. read more

I used to eat here regularly and recommended this restaurant to many people. Unfortunately, today's experience completely changed my opinion. After paying for my order, I was chased down to my car on the street by an employee who accused me of not paying the correct amount and insisted I return the food. Once the employee who had helped me realized that I had, in fact, paid the correct amount, I expected an apology and my food to be returned. Instead, the employee refused to give me my food back and falsely claimed that I had thrown it at him. That simply did not happen. The three hot boxes of fish and chips were handed back to him firmly after he confronted me--they were never thrown. Being publicly accused of not paying, chased to my car, and then denied the meal I had already paid for was embarrassing and unacceptable. It's disappointing because I genuinely enjoyed this restaurant and had recommended it often. Sadly, after this experience, I won't be returning. read more

I stopped here immediately upon landing in Kauai and wow! Great food & service. While waiting for my food, I walked down to the beach. This is in a food truck zone and Tony's was the most popping place in the area. My Fish Tacos were perfect and the Carne Asada Fries were delicious, as well. Crispy & flavorful! Omg!! Best fish tacos we have ever had!!! They were so good looking, we gobbled them up and forgot to take a picture. Lol For $17 you get two large pieces of crispy beer-battered Mahi -mahi tacos topped with pineapple-cilantro slaw and cream sauce. They are served with homemade pinto beans and rice. The beans were amazing!!! The Mahi-mahi was fresh and cooked to perfection. DON'T FORGET to ask for the habanero hot sauce for $1. It's not too hot and it was soooooo delicious on the tacos. They were absolute heaven!!!! I can't emphasize enough how much you need to try this food truck! You will be so happy you did!! The service was excellent and the owners were so friendly and kind. There is also a sushi food truck and a Hawaiin BBQ truck with plenty of picnic benches to sit at. You can see the ocean as you dine. I had this place bookmarked prior to our visit to Kauai and my aunt actually sent me an Instagram post claiming this is the Number 1 Food Truck in the United States in 2025. So I HAD to go! There are several other trucks located here and there's ample seating available. It's just off the beach so if there aren't any tables, just grab a seat by the ocean! Service was great! I was helped right away and they bring the food to your table with utensils and napkins. I had to get the Zicatela-style fish tacos since that is their claim to fame. They did not disappoint. This place was delicious. We got the poke bowl with spicy tuna with rice. We dug in so quickly, we got a photo of our bowl half eaten (sorry!) This place was surrounded by other food trucks drawing a steady crowd. They had 6 shaded picnic tables for their customers on a sandy parking spot over looking the ocean. The service was fast and friendly, they provided trash cans and a clean area to eat, and they had around 6 parking spots on the lot. Glad we stopped on the way to princeville. read more

Great tacos and tostada. The fish and shrimp are nicely fried, and the ahi is grilled to be perfectly tender with a delicious crust. Went there three times while on Kauai for the weekend, it was that good. The green salsa on the fish tacos is more vinegar-y, while the pink salsa on the shrimp tacos is more like what I'm used to in Southern California. An amazing spot to pick up some great food and chill by the beach! The fried fish tacos were absolutely amazing and it came with some great rice and beans! They even had amazing habanero salsa! Cesar was super cool and ultra friendly! Had some good conversations, we went when it was near closing time but he was ultra chill and welcoming regardless! Food truck in Kapa'a. The truck is back from the road so when you find the group of food trucks, park and walk towards the ocean. There are no blinking lights or frills, just a blue menu taped to the truck and an open window. There was no line when I arrived. The gentleman who helped me was pleasant and helpful. I ordered the fish and chips, an extra tartar sauce, a can of passion orange juice and a side of the homemade habanero sauce. By the time I was done ordering and paying, an impressive line of tourists had formed behind me. I made use of the hand sanitizer and went to sit and wait. There are picnic benches across from the truck with ample seating. The area is kept clean. The sun was shining bright and a the breeze from the ocean was extremely relaxing. My food took about 10 minutes, he walked the food out personally instead of screaming from the window which I appreciated. I took the food and drink back to my car so I could listen to my book while I ate my lunch. The plate contained 5 battered and fried pieces of fish (mahi?) Andy who they were seasoned, crispy and golden brown, served over a large portion of crisp French fries. 2 tartar sauces, a ketchup and the anticipated habanero hot sauce. The fish was moist and flaky on the inside and tasted fresh. Absolutely delicious. The hot sauce.... The homemade habanero sauce should be bottled and sold. It starts off mild to allow your food to shine on its own then creeps in with the perfect amount of heat. Paired with the tartar sauce or ketchup (I alternated every bite) changed the profile in a way that no hot sauce I've ever eaten has allowed. There was no cloying aftertaste, no overpowering vinegar scent, the heat was not intense, but it was there in the background complimenting everything it touched. I am in Kauai several times a month and will definitely keep Tony's Catch in the rotation. read more

Don't sleep on the fish tacos at Tony's Catch food truck. I've been a few times now and have ordered the poke, but during our last visit a few of us ordered the fish tacos and they were incredible. The cole slaw is crisp and refreshing and the fish is perfection. Tony's dad took our order and delivered our food to the table. The Carne Asada Fries got devoured at the table and were delicious.
