I booked last minute. Our room was quaint. Their bedsheets, pillows and duvet were comfortable and clean. The second bed where my kids slept in felt lopsided, the ac didn't work so it was a bit warm inside our room. I see can see that they've done some upgrading, their sink is modern, internet and tv were good. Their rooms come with a fireplace for snow season. The bathroom we had felt compact. The size of our room felt a bit small. I got a room for 4 people which was a bit crowded. However, they do offer other rooms and cabins. My sister stayed in their cute one bedroom cabin that came with a full kitchen and somehow she paid less than I did, but I'm not sure who has control over pricing when it comes to booking with an outside company. They are currently remodeling rooms and the pool. Their costumer service was great, the communication was good, they responded quick and provided me the room code prior to our arrival. Overall 3 1/2 starts. Easy check in. They are trying to improve their property so I'm not closed minded to see their potential. read more

I stayed here last week in Cabin 19 with my sister and her 3 kids ages 10, 8, 6. There were 2 queen beds and a queen Futon that we ended up not using other than as a sofa, the kids and us all piled in the beds in the end. Frank the on-site owner/manager is great! He delivered extra bedding to us, as well as a Firestarter Log for the fireplace. He gave us the history on the property and filled us in on the future plans, all of which sound AMAZING. The property is currently being renovated. That takes time, especially up the mountain, as deliveries are more difficult to receive, I'd imagine. The property is open while renovations are taking place, so be patient and understanding. There is a reason the rooms are SO CHEAP at this time. Our cabin was totally fine. The mattresses and futon were all brand new. The other furniture was not, we didn't care. There were random dishes and silverware, not full sets of everything but we made it work. We used the stovetop and oven with no issues, all the appliances worked fine. There were random pots and pans...I've stayed in better equipped cabins, but they're working on it . I am sure eventually they will fill in the blanks in all the rooms. Frank let us check out the bar which is due to open soon...my husband and I are going back in a week and a half (I had that booked for a while, the trip we just took was last minute) and I can't wait to see it finished. The VIBES ARE ON. Looks like it's going to be decorated very cute....Big Bear Hipster Chic. They're designing lots of outdoor living space: Hot Tubs, Fire Pits, Cold Plunge. When this place is finished it's going to be amazing, and I can't wait. Go now while it's still cheap, because I am sure once the renovation is complete they're going to have to increase the price. Frank also told us the large front cabin will be more like a Hostel set up, so that may be an affordable booking option when it's ready. The trolley stops next door at Big 5 every 30 min so you can take that to Snow Summit and not have to drive your car. It's close enough to The Village that you could walk, weather permitting. The location is great. I can't wait to go back next week and hopefully make this our regular place to stay in the future! read more

Only way I'm doing 2 stars, is because the staff was nice and friendly. I booked last minute during a big storm so the price was $200+ for the night. Booked a double queen, but was given a little one bed cabin because of repairs. It needs updating and cleaning, floors and walls were filthy and the bedding was dirty, long and short hairs on everything, even when I asked for additional needing it had hair on it. It had a full kitchen and dining area with couches and a pool table with a fireplace. That really made up for a small room. The staff was very helpful even though they were quite busy. Getting there: Located on Big Bear Blvd. It sneaks up on you fast so be sure not to miss it. The office is behind the front building. If you get there after they close they will leave the keys in a lock box for you. Experience: We stayed here for one night since we planned to board the next day. This was a nice stay for a budget motel and the price. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive. Was nice to be able to text for extra towels or blankets and have them delivered. They are renovating, but the rooms are upgraded with a nice floor, TV, microwave, and fridge. The bed was comfortable and the heat worked well which was nice for the cold weather. We stayed here last year and it was kinda grim, but it was just after things opened (COVID) we stayed here this year and it is under new ownership. Staff very friendly and they are making upgrades to the property. Soon they plan to renovate and I'm hoping the pool will be open next year when we come again. They have pet friendly cottages and good parking. We come to Big Bear every July for The Manx Club Big Bear Bash and I will let the club know this is the place to stay! These jerks ruined a trip for me. On New Year's Day we went up for a night. I had a pretty good deal because I was getting 30% back from Capital One rewards. When we arrived, we were given a BS story about how Booking had made a mistake and oversold the rooms. We had waiting in 4 and half hours of grueling traffic and only endured it because we thought we couldn't cancel the room, so I was pissed because I would have happily turned around, but these losers didn't even have the courtesy to message us. Will never stay there and whole heartedly recommend to avoid until they have a new ownership. read more

First, be warned there's no elevator and much of the complex is along a ragged slope. Unless you get one of the cabin-style lodges, the other rooms aren't ADA friendly. The stairs to the upstairs rooms are not gentle slopes either, so you need to be able to climb. Now, I imagine you're not going to get an affordable rate during peak ski/summer season. But if you come into town during an off period, the rates are reasonable and this is not a bad place to stay. Even though it's a bit inn/motel-like and the owner/concierge typically is off property and has to drive over to check you in, the rooms aren't bad, reasonably stocked, and are clean once you're in. They're old style and in fact you actually get a physical key for the room rather than a key card. Most of the rooms have a fireplace, and in winter you might need it as the only other option appears to be a portable heater. In summer there's no A/C... maybe a fan depending on the room. Fortunately it rarely gets too hot in Big Bear. You're right in the middle of Big Bear Lake and there's an El Pollo Loco and a (poorly run) McDonalds across the street. Even though I'd recommend walking or driving over to the main district for dining, or driving east to the stores for food, it's not terribly far away. read more

Worst hotel we have ever stayed at in our entire life and I wish I was exaggerating. Booked this before Christmas to stay with our family.One of our rooms heaters did not work, told us he would bring a portable heater and straight up never showed so we had to sleep in our clothes and jackets and to add insult to injury the guy was just straight up rude and refused to accommodate us and kept lying and saying there was nothing he could do. "You could have checked out and left if you didn't like it." Not to mention our check in time was 3 and he didn't let us check in until 6:30. You're better off at a motel. read more

We were in room four of the two story building at the ground level. First off I was impressed with the front desk person, Luz, as she called me prior to check in to let me know if we wished to check in early that there were rooms available. I found that to be thoughtful. As it turned out we did arrive early as we were hoping to catch up with our son who is staying at Big Bear for a month to train XC with his team. However, they took off for a while before we got there so we had free time. So this call from Luz was very opportune. We arrived and met her and all I have to say is that she is the right person to have meeting guests. She has a wonderful smile and pleasant disposition. She welcomed me and checked us in quickly. Same with our checkout. The resort is as pictured. Older but in good condition. Our room, at first impression, was cozy but adequate with two double beds. There is a non-working fireplace which will be removed during their upcoming renovation. Room for a small table and chair and a large flat screen TV. The bathroom was overall clean although the inside shower curtain had rust around the edges. That could be changed. There is a microwave and small fridge and two fans as there is no a/c. We used one fan at night to circulate the air to keep the room comfortable. I don't know how well this will work in hot weather. The flat fan did not work. NOTE: Even though the sink was clean we left a cup of lemonade on the counter and we had ants in less than an hour. So don't leave anything on the counter for too long. We killed them immediately and had no subsequent problems but we couldn't find a trail or entry point. We suggest that the units get sprayed inside and out around the perimeters as needed. The beds were very comfortable and the location, although next to the main road was quiet in our room. For the price that they offer I believe that there is value in this property. We would certainly consider staying here again and recommend it to others. read more

By far the best wifi in town! We stayed at Blackforest Lodge and Motel 6 where the wifi was non-existent. Lowest price in Big Bear I found out due to remodel so we're lucky to take advantage now before the prices go up. Huge room perfect for our kids to run around. They have six acres so I could see my husband and kids build a snowman and make snow angels from the room window. We were able to pull in and out of resort without trouble despite the snow. 7 Eleven and McDonald's across the street, Napa Auto Parts and car repair nearby. Board and Brush art studio across street. Nice sized mini fridge and microwave in room. Closet with plenty of hangers and extra blankets. Brand new Roku TV's with Disney plus was a nice bonus. The new mattresses were very comfortable, cozy. The room was warm. We went on a nice night walk around the neighborhood behind the resort and could see the glow of the ski slopes above the tree tops. Looking forward to coming back and seeing the updates. Kind staff, Frank & Sydney were not only nice to look at, they were very cool, down to earth people. My husband said that the way they listen and talk to people makes him want to come back and stay again which I've never heard him say before. We felt like their only guests despite not having vacancy. Staying here will be our new family tradition. read more

This was our first time in Big Bear and we found this hotel online. We are so glad that we did. The resort has a large 6 acre "backyard" that we were able to sled and play in the snow for hours. We didn't have to leave our hotel. They are conveniently located next to a Big5 and many restraunts and stores that you can walk to. The room we booked had 3 beds to accomodate our family of 5 and was a large room. You can tell that the place is being remodeled and there is a lot of care being put into modernizing the place. We met the owner and he was so nice and let us know that they are making a sauna and steam room and building a bar where they will have live music. A lot more to look forward to in the near future. We would definitely stay here again. I would recommend this place to family and friends. read more

The room is small and no chair except 2 queen beds. The first day when I got there, I started to brush my teeth and the sink already was clogged! We contacted the office around 9PM and the answer was there will not be anybody to fix the problem until next day. When we checked out at noon the next day, there was no maintenance crew to show up for the problem! The toilet was not flushed well, we had to flush repeatedly each time we used it. The shower was small with no lights. We had to open the shower curtain each time we take a bath so we can see, as a result, the shower water would wet the toilet floor. Dumb design! The wall was so thin, and we can hear all noises from activity room below. The door lock was old and rattle each time our next room neighbor slammed their room door. Wolf Creek is no resort but it looks like cheap motel along the freeway for hookers and johns! read more

Cute motel. Good if you want a place to sleep with a shower. Rooms have microwave, fridge, and coffee maker if needed. About a fifteen minute walk from snow summit if you don't wanna deal with parking. I don't believe they do room service every day, only stayed two nights and never saw any employees except when checking in. Signage is bad on this place, missed it a few times. The sheets and towels were itchy, probably from a cheap detergent. read more

This is a cheap motel, do not expect Resort conditions as the name of this place proclaims. We stayed in room #3 and it smelled nauseating. See photos of the disgusting shower. The mattress was HARD and the bed was creaky. The box spring was exposed, with no protector encasing either the box spring or mattress to protect from bed bugs. There was just a fitted sheet over the bare mattress. It was gross. The sheets were clean, but there were a ton of short black hairs on the blanket. The shower had rust and stains, and there was standing water in the shower. We decided not to use the shower because it was so nasty, the shower head was just left dangling by the maid. There was a fireplace advertised, but once we got in the room we saw it was unusable, with a sign on it saying it is unsafe to use. See photos. The smoke alarm was coming out of the wall and didn't appear to work, which was also really concerning. We left to go buy candles because the smell of the room was so unbearable. It was later that we discovered the blanket was really dirty and the bed was really hard- otherwise we would not have stayed with that additional information. Also be careful to not let your kids go under the bed- it is absolutely disgusting under there. There are no dressers, luggage racks, or hangers. Room #3 has no closet. So be prepared to have little storage and no safe for valuables. But just do yourself a favor and don't stay here at all until they get better maids, replace the beds, and renovate the showers. read more

The shared spaces are awesome. I always welcome chatting with strangers, and Wolf Creek opens the possibility. Common kitchen, game room, dining area, and fire pit options to enjoy the stay. My kind of place...I can choose privacy or to engage with other guests! Reasonable rates and friendly owner, Frank, was happy to show us around and encourage using all areas. Decent, clean and economical prices! We went through Hotel Tonight for a great deal! Clean towels, comfortable bed, needed another pillow as they gave us 3 but the pillows could use a replacement as they are a little worn down and not much cushion left in them. Fireplace is not operable and luckily we didn't need to use it as the weather was wonderful. Tv in room with local channels. Comes with mini fridge and microwave if you plan to stay more than a day. Hot and super cold water, great pressure! Coffee pot also available in room..we were given only one regular coffee package and two decaf packs, no creamers, booked for a two night stay so that also was a bummer but overall we were comfortable and had a great stay. Unfortunately at checkout the only downside is that the front desk didn't realize we had prepaid and they charged us incorrectly. Make sure to mention it a few times at check in that you already prepaid online or on an app and for the rate price paid, make sure to save your confirmation email if you go through an app! We got our deposit and incorrect amount of charges refunded pretty quickly! Everything worked out and we'd definitely would return! Recommend! read more

I love this resort! So close to the lifts! Mcds / 7-11 is infront so if you get hungry and want a snack, it's available. If heater / anything in the room does not work, PLS text and call the number they give you!!! We were freezing our Asses off bc we didnt know how to correctly turn on the heater. But now we now its better to call and ask rather than be stupid and freeze to death. Amenities are good, fridge, kitchen, table, living room (for the suite room). I dont even know where to start with this place...."rustic chalets" as they call them are teeny tiny and very rustic, as in out dated. And Like really small!!! It was just myself, my husband and our 2 small dogs and we were so cramped for the 2 night we stayed that we had to take the coffee table and stand it upright in the kitchen for space... The bathroom was another story, not only was that very small as well, but....the shower was so dark and creepy that we had to go out and buy lights to put up in the shower to even use it. I used it one time and it took me like 30mins. because the shower head was so crappy and the pressure was even worse. I ended up going to shower elsewhere during our stay here. My husband stood outside while we had the lights on and you could see everything in our chalet because none of the window coverings fit the windows properly. We ended up hanging up paper towels with tape to have the needed privacy. The view of the Mc D's across the street from us was far from what I expected as well. The microwave took 5mins. To warm up something very small as well...the kitchen otherwise was well stocked as far as dishes, pots/pans go. They do not provide paper towels. Thankful we brought our own. I paid $330 for the 2 nights we were there and I feel ripped off, completely. My sister in law rented an airbnb 6mins. down the street from us, paid the same and their place was SUPER nice compared to this place and they had a functional pool, unlike here. I'm so unhappy with our stay here and for what I paid. I will never stay at this self proclaimed RESORT again. PS. Alot of places say resort and look run the down. Do your homework and dont trust that it's a nice place based of it being a "resort" I am giving 1 star because the staff was very pleasant. read more

Just checked in a bit early - front desk was wonderful and pleasant and kind to let me check in a bit early. Pepper, resort mascot Dalmatian dog, amazing greeter. Make sure to say hi to that good doggo. Queen Chalet room very clean. Blankets clean. Toilet and bathroom clean. Shower clean - but dark haha. Given an extra blanket from the front desk - freaking awesome - didn't even have to ask. Given extra towels and a heater - ten star service. Give this place a shot - don't let those bad reviews deter you. So far so good. Great location. I give them 110 stars because my dogs get to come with me and they don't charge frivolous extra pet fees. Don't trash their resort and they won't charge you. Pickup after your pets and don't let them destroy the furniture. I will give this place my business from here on out, and I will be sharing it with all my loved ones and hope to bring them much more business. Manager Frank also emailed me and was very personable and welcoming. Thank you Wolf Creek Hotel and Resort for being 110% amazing. read more

Very well priced, I stayed in a cozy small motel room. Nothing amazing but for less than 100$ a night during prime skiing season it was fantastic. The floor being a bit dirty was really my only complaint, and would be easily remedied with a pair of flip-flops. Customer service was top tier, the owner is very friendly and very helpful. Great location, close to the ski hills and very close to Main Street. There is also a large area around the property that you can walk around and explore if you like. Would definitely come again and recommend to others if looking to save money. read more

I hate to give a bad review for a room I didn't think was bad. I found the fireplace to be a nice touch. However, the service matched another review I saw on here: rude, unprofessional, passive aggressive, poor customer service. I checked in at a reasonable time of 7 pm and it was freezing. The door was locked and I was cold so I called the number below. The woman who answered refused to give me her name and quickly said my room number and key under mat and complete instructions including WiFi and told me 2nd floor. You could tell she was in a hurry and wanted to get off the phone. I asked her to hold on a moment because the buildings I see had 1 story and the one next to office I walked up to had a ramp however it didn't necessarily look like it went to a 2nd story. She impatiently & rudely told me there was a 2nd story. I told her it's my 1st time here and I wasn't informed this was going to be the process so understand I'm new to locating this building. She passively aggressively scolded me on her check in process for COVID and I told her I realize that however my point in trying to tell her is that she's rushing me and I don't memorize the buildings like her because I've never been there. Without her help I had to stop walking on foot and get into my suv and drive around a few buildings to find the 2 story I couldn't see from the office (I took photos so you could see how dark it was and the vantage point from the office). I told her I found the building (which didn't take me long at all) and I asked her where the key was because my Bluetooth to my car had connected at the end of what she was saying regarding key. She was again impatient and rude and told me where key was (as if I knew that because I work there lol). I asked her her name and she wouldn't tell me. I asked her to have someone else help me at this point because she was being very rude and she said she was the only person and no one else could help me. I asked her the managers name and she wouldn't give it to me. She said she can cancel my room if I don't want it because they are very busy and she can rent it to someone else. (Talk about the opposite of someone that should be doing customer service at a "resort"). Also, Dingbat, it's COVID as you said...you're not renting a room I have the key to and then switching it to someone else, I obviously already had access to it. That's super unsafe and doesn't sound like COVID protocol to me. Because she threatened to cancel my room I told her I wanted to speak to someone else because she was threatening me. She then said Do you want the room or not? If you don't just send an email. So I asked her twice for the email. She said she didn't know the email because she doesn't know who I booked through. (Oh you tell people where the room number and key is without any rez knowledge of where it was booked through)? When I asked her name again she hung up on me. She had an Asian sounding accent that's all I know. From my experience, I don't think she understands it's not money it's service. The last time I came to Big Bear (recently, I'm an avid traveler) I actually paid less than this place and I loved it the staff was awesome and some of us still keep in touch! They were booked this weekend, and usually are. In fact, I loved my whole experience at Big Bear so much last time I'm back. This greeting upon arrival was stressful and it's the opposite of a vacation and not cool. I do want a manager ABOVE her and/or an owner to please call me about my experience. Unfortunately, this place is far from being a "resort", definitely more like a motel. Prices for what you get are kind of outrageous.... Rented a king room middle February, it was ok: Cons- Very old TV, no cable. Old phones with no dial tone to contact main office. Rather crowded bathroom. And...OMG...the, although super spacious bed, was so uncomfortable! No gym or indoor pool, aside from a tiny, frozen and abandoned basketball court outside. Pros- Great location! Vacancy. Clean.
