This is a cute little coffee shop. We read the reviews so we had to try it. Of course, there was a line when we got there and it moved very slowly. They only had a couple people working the counter and I think one in the back at the bakery. We got some pastries and coffee and everything was wonderful. The server was very patient with my friend, who couldn't decide what to get. Maybe that's why the line moved so slow, so many choices! My favorite baked goods are the oatmeal chocolate chip cookie (individually wrapped) and the Rosemary Sea Salt bagel that they toast for you. This is a popular place to go so there is almost always a line; however it moves quickly and worth the short wait. This is a small shop so there is limited indoor seating. There is covered outdoor heated seating and during good weather times there are multiple options for outdoor seating. You can also take your purchased goodies down the street to the beach as well. There is a variety of parking options, though it can still get busy in the area. Note, bathrooms are available across the street at the public restroom. read more

BEST freshest softest maple bars I've ever had! Coffee? Stood in line for over 30 minutes and to my husband and I it was nothing to write home about and don't understand the hoopla about this place! A wonderful coffee spot! We stayed up the block from here when visiting Cannon Beach. We walked there every morning to get coffee while in town, they open at 8am, line starts to form just after 730am. Eeeeks! Well whatever, we always ended up in the middle of the pack when waiting in line, it wasn't too long of a wait, made pen-pal friends while waiting in line. Coffee is good, they have a small breakfast pastry case too. Wait in line, order at counter, wait outside and they will call your name and put your order on the table outside for you to scoop up. Staff is friendly, they got their system pretty efficiently rolling, pricing isn't bad, everything we ordered each day was good and was satisfying for those morning coffee needs. If you want, they sell merch and coffee beans to take home with you(they will grind it if you need it). I had to partake and buy a bag of coffee to take home and relive the memories. Saturday morning, after open 8AM Do expect a wait of about 30 minutes on weekends, there is no other cafe within walkable distance so just have some patience and stick to it and you'll be happier in the end. My family and I came here for an afternoon coffee pick-me-up while vacationing at Cannon Beach. Sleepy Monk was rated "the best coffeehouse in Washington" according to Fodor's Pacific Northwest Traveling Guide 2018. As Seattlelites, we had to get our hands on the best coffee in Washington. Sleepy Monk is a cute and quaint coffee shop, just a short walk away from our hotel. Their logo is obviously a sleepy monk. While they don't display their logo on their cups, they sell hoodies and other merchandise inside with their logo. I ordered a hot 20 oz latte (4 shots) to share. Service was quick and I got my latte within 5-10 minutes. The coffee was extremely smooth with no bitter aftertaste, unlike "Char"- bucks. It was also piping hot and the perfect snack to enjoy on a cool and blustery day. All workers were wearing masks. They limit the number of people inside of the store at a time by having people wait for their orders by the window outside after ordering. There are few outdoor seats on the lawn outside where you can sip your drink and sit with your dog. There is no undercover seating though. Overall: 5/5 for coffee, 5/5 for service read more

Came here for coffee and pastries on a lazy Tuesday morning, the wait wasn't too bad and they only allow 1-2 parties inside at a time due to Covid. They have ample outdoor seating and permit dogs outside. For coffee we enjoyed the Monk's Decadence and the Monastery Madness. We liked the Monk's Decadence better due to the Irish cream. Their rosemary bagels and coffee are good enough to tolerate the service, but on this particular day the "hot" drink was lukewarm at best. Originally I asked to just have it iced instead and they told me there was a price difference which I was willing to pay. Then said they have to make a whole new drink, so instead of the hassle I just asked them to make it hotter. Again they made it seem like a big deal. The maple bar was good, frosting wasn't too sweet and donut was good texture. However the coffee was awful. Probably worst cup I've ever ordered somewhere. I think they burnt the milk and you didn't get any caramel flavor. Couldn't even finish it, we ended up tossing it. We were so disappointed after hearing great things about this place. Sleepy Monk is my favorite place to get coffee in Cannon Beach. I love the Monastery Madness, a combination of espresso, steamed milk, amaretto, and caramel sauce. You can add chocolate whipped cream to the top if you wish. They also serve fresh, homemade, sweet and savory treats. The bacon and blue cheese scone has pieces of bacon, chunks of blue cheese, and chives and is my savory favorite. If you're looking for a sweet treat, i recommend the chocolate and orange scone. The chocolate will melt on your fingers as you enjoy the scone. The ladies who work there are always polite and friendly. Rachel is constantly engaging with my niece, Vivian, and makes her feel special because she remembers Vivian's name. There is always a line, but it's worth the wait. Stopped by after seeing so many people lined up here - something must be going on! The place is incredibly small so we were mostly waiting outside in the cold. Waited in line for ~20 min and ordered a Moms Decadence specialty drink which was pretty good, but next time I would probably order something else to save on the calories...
