We go to Cannon Beach often, but always to walk along the beach for an hour or so, before driving back home. It is rare that we stop to shop or eat. But every trip we either walk or drive by this place and I always think, one day I'll give it a try. And yay for me, that day finally came. After our beach walk, my husband stopped in to get us beverages and a few chocolate treats. He got a frozen hot chocolate that just tasted okay. It wasn't very chocolately, or like it tasted like fake chocolate, which was disappointing. He got me a mango matcha lemonade (special) and it was really good but didn't taste like matcha at all (it was super green though). The highlight of our experience has to be the little chocolate treats. He got a variety, salted caramel, dark chocolate peanut butter cup and a few white chocolate treats which were beautiful and delicious. Service was just ok but we stopped in right before closing on a busy Sunday afternoon. I don't think we ordered the best so I would definitely give this place another try, maybe for their specialty milkshake or hot chocolate. And when I do, I'll update my review accordingly. read more

It is absolutely must stop at Cannon Beach. The new location is great, you can see now how they make their chocolates. Outside sitting around fire pits is very popular. Team is amazing: always helpful and positive. They also have sugar free chocolate that tastes amazing. Didn't get picture, eat it all. Tourist trap that we fell for. $4 for 1 truffle or $17 for 4 truffles. Probably the first place I've been where getting a larger quantity costs more per item. We tried the Marion berry, peanut butter, caramel mocha and dark chocolate truffle. The outer shells were too thick and while I understand these are tempered chocolate it was quite hard to bite and really took away from the fillings. The Marion berry was the best of the flavors but really only because it was the least bad. The caramel mocha had a harsh too bitter coffee flavor and I normally love all things coffee including chocolate covered espresso beans. The peanut butter filling had a gritty texture and the chocolate wasn't smooth or creamy. We also tried the frozen hot chocolate which was a complete waste of $9. Absolutely no flavor of chocolate and the ice chunks were so big they wouldn't come through the straw. The whipped cream even lacked flavor and sweetness. Only thing I appreciated was the allergen labels. This place is not nearly good enough to charge these outrageous prices. read more

Came to Cannon Beach specifically to visit this place. Arrived at 5:40 PM -- I have the photo timestamp to prove it -- and the door was locked with a "Closed" sign up. According to their listed hours, they should have been open. Really frustrating when you're traveling and plan your stop around a place. We went with the Raspberry Chocolate Mocha Milkshake which was their milkshake of the month and an order of the Spoon Chocolate. The Milkshake was so tasty! It's definitely more of a sundae/blizzard because of how thick it is but flavors were great and not too sweet at all. The Spoon Chocolate was also very unique. It's a 4oz cup of thick pudding-y dark chocolate with a dollop of whipped cream. I love how dark the chocolate was, you can taste a bit of fruity flavor in it. Very cool place for a sweet snack. Stopped by the other morning, wow they have quite a selection of chocolate stuff! I opted for a chocolate croissant and a mocha, and my wife had a macaroon (see photo below). The were both excellent. The croissant was very light and flaky, of course stuffed with superb chocolate. The macaroon was flavorful and moist. My mocha was superb, not the best I've ever had but it ranks up there. Love their (limited) outdoor seating - nice place to have a snack and watch people go by. We wandered into the Chocolate Cafe while visiting Cannon Beach. They make their truffles in their shop and there are a lot of truffle flavors to choose from. They are $3 each, which adds up quickly. We tried the s'mores, cookies and cream, raspberry, espresso, dark chocolate, s'mores, and peanut butter truffles. My favorite was the dark chocolate and it had a rich dark chocolate ganache on the inside. I liked the other flavors, but felt like they were a little overpriced. We also tried the dark chocolate seafoam (honeycomb). It was super sticky and hard to chew. The dark chocolate had good flavor, but the honeycomb texture was not good. The star of the show is the milkshakes at Chocolate Cafe. We had the legendary chocolate milkshake and it was amazing. It was thick, creamy, rich, and chocolately! We also happened to buy during happy hour so it was $1 off of milkshakes. I highly recommend the milkshakes here! One of the best I've had! read more

If you love gourmet chocolate, then the Chocolate Cafe is your Paradise, your Willy Wonka Golden Ticket! They have lots of delicious high-end chocolate to eat and drink! The majority is curated from Portland chocolatiers, some National brands, and some truffles and handmade pieces made in house. This works for me! It is one stop shopping for your favorites! The shop is small but filled, and I mean filled, with chocolates! Everything is thoughtfully displayed, each vignette so beautiful. The day I was there, Frank Sinatra was playing on the turntable creating a really nice vibe. While they were making my hot Mocha on a typical rainy day at the beach, I perused the counter and was thrilled to see lots of dark chocolate options. When I was younger, I was a milk chocolate only fan, but tastes and taste buds change, and I can no longer eat milk chocolate, it's just too sweet for me. Selected two dark chocolate covered homemade marshmallows and later that night when I ate one, I immediately wished I had bought a half dozen! OMG, they were the best dark chocolate covered marshmallows that I ever had and it's my signature selection. I'm going to call the shop and ask which Portland Chocolatier made them so I can buy them locally. Also bought dark chocolate pecan turtles, dark chocolate sea salt caramels, and dark chocolate toffee. All were exceptional. They do offer a small selection of sandwiches and salads, and during these Covid days there are a few tables outside. I was there for the chocolate! Oh, and the mocha was delicious, made with their own chocolate and you CAN taste the difference. Spent time chatting with the owner who was so friendly, helpful and provided details on the chocolates i was considering. Chocolate Cafe will be a permanent stop whenever I'm in Cannon Beach and will also be the last place I visit on my way out of town so I can bring treats home! read more

Drove out to Cannon Beach to visit a dear friend who I've known since we were both young. Stopped in for a cuppa hot chocolate and some butter crunch to go. The dark hot chocolate is to die for. Rich, chocolaty chocolate. Perfect on a sunny but blustery, windy day. Sweets are rarely on the menu anymore but if I'm going to take a hit of sugar it needs to be in something that is REALLY good. This is more of a hot chocolate place than a chocolates place and there are several confectioners in CB that have a much better selection. Between the 5 of us, we had a delightful chocolate feast! It's a small menu and finger foods like sandwiches/salads aren't offered. There's only room for dessert! The 70% Colombian house chocolate is used for the dark hot chocolate. I appreciate how it's not too sweet. Highly recommend getting it as is with whole milk rather than substituting it with almond milk, which adds a nutty flavor and doesn't mix well with the chocolate. The 1 ounce Spoon of Chocolate is very rich and decadent and prefer the classic hot chocolate. The Truffles are delicious and thoroughly enjoyed the Raspberry Puree truffle. The cafe is quite cozy with small tables of 2, so don't recommend groups. There's no patio seating and can't bring your pup. Nice cozy cafe that will satisfy your chocolate indulgence! read more

Tried cafe marocchino for the first time where shots of chocolate are at the bottom of the cup and it tasted incredible.
