It's such a quaint little space and incredibly affordable for what you get. I also love seeing downtown Mesa continue to grow, and the museum feels like a big part of that energy. From a parent perspective, it's really easy to visit. There's ample parking, it's very stroller and diaper bag friendly, and it's a perfect place for a playdate. You can actually have conversations while the kids explore and move between activities. The mural in the courtyard is gorgeous and the puppets are always a hit with my kids. It's one of those places we keep coming back to.

A few things to know before you go: Because this is at a private residential home, there are no public bathrooms available, so plan accordingly! It's also a bit out of the way on a dirt road, which adds to the rustic charm but can be a surprise if you aren't expecting it. It's a wonderful, low-key way to spend 30 minutes with some very happy animals. Donations are highly encouraged but not required.

Guardians are not charged and not required to wear grippy socks. They have a lot of different attractions such as The Floor is Lava obstacle course, huge ball pit with an interactive play screen, large play structures with multiple slides, basketball court with many hoops of variable heights, a giant ground air trampoline, tube slide, food and drinks for purchase, quiet private pods (for nursing, phone calls, etc) and even a peripheral track for adults to walk around and get exercise. My kiddo thought everything was super fun and he had a total blast. One thing I did notice the entire 2 hours we were there, was zero attendants monitoring the play structures. My kiddo was told by other kiddos that he could not go on the tube slide which definitely wasn't true because he was old enough according to the age requirement. Meanwhile, the same kids were both riding in the same tube, which is not allowed according to the same sign. I was wondering where their parents were. Also, the interactive screen in the ball pit had a lot of technical difficulties. It would not consistently respond to the balls hitting the targets or even a hand hitting the targets. So definitely a few areas of improvement needed, but overall, we had a really great time!

Just down the road from Sloan Park (Cub's stadium) and across the street from Mesa Riverview shopping area, it's very well situated. For locals and people living in the area, it's definitely frequented for fishing, using the playground, playing soccer or sports, and taking a nice walk. It's a clean and well maintained park. When the weather is nice, this is a great place to take a walk at sunset, around the small lake. I've seen some really nice skies and colors from the park. People are there year round fishing and there's a big playground area with a large climbing tower & splash pad towers at the north end of the park. Spread throughout that area are picnic ramadas w/ grills that are popular on the weekend. We walk our pups around when it's cooler outside. Summer months we don't usually walk over, even though we live close by, across the street. It's just too hot, even at night. Overall, it's a great park area and I look forward to when we come back regularly for our evening walks.

The store is packed with amazing fossils, rocks, and so many interesting things to explore. The staff was beyond helpful and kind. The gentleman working there took the time to answer all of our questions and even brought something special out from the back to show us -- which made the experience feel extra special. My daughter absolutely loved picking out her own geode and cracking it open with their machine to reveal the crystals inside. That was definitely the highlight of our visit! This place is CRAZY! My two year old is pretty adventurous so she loved it but I would definitely…read moresay with all of the climbing and big slides, it is more aimed at bigger/older kids. That being said, we killed a couple of hours here on a recent trip to the area. She spent the most time in the big kid climbing area but also really liked the ball pit. Her highlight though was the claw machines. You have to get a little pre-paid card with virtual "tokens" on them and two year old LOVED swiping the card. The big pro is that they are "play til you win" so you're probably paying a little more but your kiddo will walk away with something. There was a machine with little plastic toys that she won a little giraffe and little golden rubber duck from and then there was machine with stuffies and she won two from that as well (one was from plays that were left on the machine by someone else. I deducted one star because it was pretty stuffy/humid inside the building so that affected the overall comfort of the space, especially since we were climbing around with the toddler, and also because you're not supposed to bring in your own drinks, even water.
