Not impressed by any stretch of the imagination. The flavor is solely from the sauce you order. The chicken has a decent amount of juiciness, but its neither crispy or tender. Perhaps this was decent when it first opened, but its a sub-par chicken joint thats not worth your time (unless youre trying to feed a group of soccer kids or three year olds who dont know any better). read more

We stopped in to try Slim Chicken after a long run and we were not disappointed! Moe was super friendly at the counter and gave some great recommendations based on our taste. We got the 5 and 5 (wings and tenders) with sweet chili sauce. So good. We also tried the Korean BBQ sauce and Chipotle Ranch. Delicious. We got fried pickle, Mac n cheese, raspberry lemonade and 2 different (adorable) mason jar desserts. Everything was hot and fresh, hardly any wait. Everyone was masked and social distanced. The place is large & spacious with plentiful seating with blues music playing and the temperature was perfect (not too cold and not too hot). The lemonade here is pretty good in addition to the food. I love chicken tenders, wings, drumsticks, breast, pretty much the whole dang chicken. I must admit my newest discovery is the tender. Yes, I grew up on McNuggets but after about the age of 12 I moved on and I have always been a chicken on the bone guy when I have gone out to eat. I hit a Raising Cane in Vegas about 5 years ago and I have been a tender junkie ever since. I have visited tender specific chains such Raising Cane's, Zaxby's and Guthrie's and Slim Chickens wins by the slimmest margin. What puts them over the top is the moist tenders and they have GRAVY as a dipping sauce!! The gravy is creamy and has a subtle note of pepper and was glorious. I used it on the tenders, fries and Texas Toast. The chicken was moist and the breading had a nice crunch. Ordered the Chick Plate (3 tenders, Fries, Texas Toast, beverage) for $8.99. Pretty great deal with the beverage thrown in. The fries were skin on and decent. The toast was sad. When I think Texas Toast, I am thinking large double wide sliced bread and what I got was wee little slice of Wonderbread. Not a big deal but maybe leave it off the menu. I want to write a review about this location because the lady up front (too bad I didn't catch her name) was very nice and sweet. We ordered a family meal and the food came out quickly feeding my family of 5. She asked how everything looked and the grilled tenders were small so she gave us another better sized one to make up for it. She seemed caring and genuinely interest in our experience. My friend convinced me to try Slim Chickens, saying that it was comparable in taste to Raising Canes. I decided to try the three tender and three wing combo with fries and a medium drink. The texture of the wings felt a bit odd, being more crunchy than any other wings I've tasted. I had the bbq wings, and nothing was outstanding about the taste. I enjoyed the tenders a bit more, but they were small and definitely not better than Canes'. They offer you a choice of sauces for the tenders too, but they come in tiny bowls so this isn't the place for you if you really enjoy sauces. Overall, there was nothing special about the food. The service was like that of any fast food place. The restaurant itself was relatively clean. My only concern is that they leave a roll of paper towels on the table. A lot of the paper towels were already smeared with sauce on the top and bottom and were dirty, essentially making them useless. read more

I ordered a 4-piece chicken tender meal with fries and toast. Their tenders are pretty average and definitely not up to par with those at Raising Cane in terms of taste or size. The fries were okay, but a nothing to write home about. I didn't even try the toast since one of the pieces with my meal had a huge indention where someone had stuck their finger or thumb. It was really gross, so I just set that item aside. This was my 4th or 5th visit to Slim Chickens and I've been underwhelmed nearly every time. Their 4 star rating was enticing and I was really excited to try them. Here is what deserves 4 and possibly even a 5 star rating...their service. For a fast food place the service was really impressive and amongst the best and fastest I have encountered in similar places. But beyond the outstanding service, lets get real... The food was alright. Not great by any means, but also not horrible by any means. Certainly not the best in the fast food chicken category and holds no comparison to my favorites in the category. The sides were even less impressive. Very basic and seemed to be more of an afterthought. I decided to try SC when I learned that a percentage of their take would go to help a DPD bicycle patrolman who had recently suffered a heart attack. Since I ride around White Rock Lake regularly it seemed like a good thing to do and I have been eyeing the place recently anyway. First of all, this is a large venue. Much larger than most fast food chicken places. There's plenty of seating inside with picnic tables outside. Ordering was simple and quick once I had a chance to study the menu. Service was efficient and friendly. I ordered the most popular meal which included several tenders, generous serving of French fries, a drink, toast and two dipping sauces. They have an extensive list of sauces. I chose gravy and blue cheese. The gravy serving was a little larger than the blue cheese and both servings were more than adequate. The gravy was a cream gravy and tasted just fine. The tenders, as one Yelper noted, were lightly coated and served very hot. In fact they were so hot that I had made it halfway through my fries before they had cooled down. That's not a complaint. Simply a word to the wise. Apparently each order is cooked separately. Although I did not study the menu in depth it appears that you can order the chicken tenders grilled. A nod to those on low carb diets. And for those who so desire you can order wings with a separate list of dipping sauces. Kudos to SC for their involvement in the community. I'll definitely be back. read more

Very disappointed and thought I'd wait a couple of days before I wrote a review. It is a new place and it was obvious they are still training staff. Walked in with a friend and was immediately greeted by the manager. He took a few extra minutes to tell us about the menu and offered some suggestions. We ordered a chicken and waffle for each of us and a 3 piece chicken strip meal to split. The chicken and waffle came out without the chicken! The kitchen staff actually argued with the counter staff about what comes on the item. Wow... It was fixed, but the chicken strip meal came out 4 minutes sooner and were cold. The potato side was not something I would say was 2 thumbs up. Disappointing. The chicken and waffle did taste good! I will give it another try at some point. read more

Good new chicken place in an old mall area on Central. It's a typical fast-casual layout inside where you order at the counter and then get a number so they can deliver your food to the table. As the name says, it's focused on chicken, mostly tenders and wings, but also some salads and sandwiches. I tried the tenders and fried okra on the side with a buffalo and a blue cheese dip. The tenders had a slight crunch to their breading and were juicy on the inside. By itself it doesn't have a lot of taste, but I did like the buffalo sauce, which was tangy and decently spicy without burning your tongue off. The blue cheese dip was ok, nothing special. The fried okra was pretty good, with the okra itself not overdone and a nice crust to the breading. The prices are in line with other chicken places. Overall worth a return. read more

This was a delivery from Door Dash, so we didn't visit, but unless our driver secretly salts all the food before he delivers it, their food is really salty. Really salty. Grandpa's old Navy stories salty. Cows wandering up for a lick salty. It wasn't just one item, either. We had tenders, fried pickles and fried mushrooms (we are into health food), and they were all over salted. I'm assuming this was just one over-eager new cook who is learning the difference between a teaspoon and a cup, since I worked fast food years ago and destroyed an entire tray of fries, but somebody caught it and we threw them out and started over. These got served. So, I will give them another try - once bad is an error, twice bad is a recipe. We'll see. In the meantime, I need some water. read more

Been coming here for 4 years. Today I have to say was the worst quality meal I have ever received. Ordered the 5 and 5. The chicken wings could of used a little longer to crisp them. The tenders must be a new product or someone ordered the wrong items from the supplier. They were dark brown and hard and dry as could be. They had absolutely no flavor at all. I used to come on a weekly basis with coworkers, but this will probably be the last time. I have some concerns about the honesty of their claim that everything is cooked to order. If that were true, I wouldn't have received 3 scalding hot chicken tenders and 2 tepid ones along with 5 warm-cool chicken wings on my 5 and 5 plate. This location seemed pretty nice, quiet and clean - even with a large birthday party of about 15 kids in the place (evidently you can reserve tables as well). The menu is pretty straightforward - chicken: chicken wings, chicken strips, chicken sandwich, chicken salad or chicken and waffles. You can get that with fries, mac and cheese, coleslaw, potato salad, etc. LOL. I can't find anything spectacular to say about Slim Chickens - this isn't a place that I'm dying to get back to, especially when there's both a ChickFilA and Raising Cane's closer to me. The best part are the desserts, I had the oreo jar, which was amazing and satisfied my sweet tooth for days! read more

My son and I drove by while running errands and saw 'Kid's Eat Free on Sunday's" so we stopped in. It also happened to be Mother's Day. It was a clean atmosphere and friendly service. They were so sweet to offer a free handmade desert in a jar that had strawberries​, banana's and whipped cream, etc. the thought itself was very thoughtful. I get the chicken and waffles at least once a month and it's good. This place is close to my house and the price is fair. Tonight I visited for a salad and the most uninterested employee I've ever encountered was there and I don't think I can come back. He mumbled, didn't ask me anything about my order like grilled or fried chick... I got fried. He didn't hand me my number, just pointed to it. The food deliver lady was nice. I noticed I didn't have tomatoes. So I go to the front. On my way, the same employee that took my order, the guy with dreads, was filling up a cup of soda for himself. He sees I'm walking to the counter but offers nothing. In fact, he waited until I got real close, and turned his back and walked out in front of me. So much so I had to stop walking to not run into him. I get my tomatoes in a plastic container with a lid like they were pre-portioned, and the first thing I see is the tip of the tomato that connects to the stem. You know, the brown part, the part you cut around... I taste it, and these tomatoes are bad, real bad. I scattered those nasty tomatoes across the table. I look over and there is now a line of 8, I counted... it was 8 people in line. No orders in the kitchen. The lady that dropped my food is helping a customer and even though there are two registers, he just stood in the window talking to the cook. Never even looked at the customers in line. I was really shocked by all this. It's a worse experience than even McDonalds offers. Today alone I had an employee smile at me in wal mart. For a $10 salad with bad tomatoes, I think I'll skip it and go somewhere else from now on. It's not worth being treated that way, even for the chicken and waffles. read more

First time patron. I was pleasantly pleased. I ordered the grilled tenders, five piece along with coleslaw. I had leftovers. The tenders were juicy and tender, nicely seasoned. Usually tenders are on the small and dry side at most places, NOT here! I had their slim dipping sauce and honey mustard. I enjoyed both equally. The coleslaw was delicious. It wasn't too sweet nor soggy. The service was fast and friendly. They even offer military discounts. I am not from this area. Just visiting from SC.
