#2 Mamas Daughters Special, Chicken & Waffle.
    Brooke A.

Love this place! So cozy and the prices were so great! The portions were honestly perfect too. I got the mamas daughter's special with scrambled eggs and french toast (I completely forgot to take a picture before devouring my eggs). My friend really enjoyed her chicken and waffles! Our server was kind and helpful!

Ordered for pickup. It was ready very quickly. Hashbrowns were not remotely crispy. Fried egg was very overdone, bread was super cheap, and sandwich did not remotely match the photo they had posted of it which has two plump eggs and on better bread. Sausage gravy had very little sausage in it but the flavor was good.

It's not bad, but it's not the best. I went here because I was invited, and I was hoping that it would really be some good food! And not saying that it wasn't but it reminds me of those small town diners in a creepy town. They do have a parking lot with limited parking , and they charge you to park after 3p They were very nice and welcoming, it's not my vibe but I'd definitely let others know to check it out.

Good place for comfort food, reasonable pricing and very homey. While the dishes weren't anything out of the ordinary, it still made for a satisfying meal. Would come back

It was the day before Thanksgiving, and we were looking for a breakfast spot before we headed into Dallas to finish our sightseeing. This restaurant is in an industrial section of town, which gives a kind of a sketchy vibe, but don't let that put you off. We were seated quickly, and while we were looking at the menu, we watched as tables towering with pies and other Thanksgiving items were being picked up. With that huge amount of pre-orders, you have to know that the food here is good. My boyfriend got biscuits and gravy, and I got the pecan waffle. My boyfriend loved the sausage gravy, and he actually said that this was the best gravy he's ever eaten. My pecan waffle was fabulous - nice thick, Belgian waffle filled with pecans. As we kept seeing pies getting picked up, we knew it was too late to order one for our own Thanksgiving, but they had pies by the slice so we were able to take two pecan pie slices with us to go. We ate those the next day, and thought we had died and gone to heaven! I wish we lived closer so that we could return to this delicious spot, I would highly recommend you give it a try!

I had a delicious sugar overload with the staff kindness, patience and guidance. I had the French toast and pecan pie With whip cream on top absolutely delicious.

A coworker of mine took us here and I'm so glad she did. The pricing is reasonable and you get a lot of food! The service was great, we were attended to very quickly and the food was out almost immediately. If you're looking for some good home cooking that isn't a chain (or from your own home), I would definitely suggest heading to Mama's Daughters'!

Great place for amazing American no frills food! Service is great also with many attentive waiters and servers that are always within reach. It's a flash back army but it's a great trip down memory to a time when people interacted with others in the same space and surroundings. Great for that reason you can't help to speak to people and talk to those around you.

Such a great restaurant, with comfort food selections and yummy. Only negative is, it is so popular, you might have to wait for a seat.

A local family diner with an old school vibe. You come in and sit anywhere. It's great to bring your grandparents who like to read the newspaper hehehe lol the food is so good. It gives homemade breakfast. Everything I had was a 10/10. Ashley was our server and she was great. I would come back when I need a home cooked meal

Cute retro feeling diner with super good diner food. The cinnamon roll is huge and delicious!

First up, the pirogies--holy moly, these little pockets of joy were just unreal. Perfectly soft, stuffed to the brim, and fried up just right. I'm pretty sure if my tasted these, she'd give a polite nod and say, "Not bad, eh?" Then came the pot roast poutine, and let me tell ya--this isn't just food, it's a life experience. You've got those crispy fries, squeaky cheese curds (as they should be, eh!), and gravy so rich it could probably pay rent in Toronto. And then--BAM--tender pot roast on top. I nearly stood up and sang "O Canada," no joke. Now the Canadian Eggs Benedict? Ohhh, beauty. The peameal bacon was thick, juicy, and cooked just right, sittin' pretty under those poached eggs with hollandaise sauce that was smoother than a fresh sheet of ice. Absolute perfection, eh. And don't even get me started on the everyday breakfast. Classic, hearty, and no funny business--just how we like it. Eggs done right, toast that actually tastes like toast (imagine that!), and portions big enough to fuel ya through a full day of shovelin' snow... or, you know, strolling around Dallas. All in all, Maple Leaf Diner absolutely crushed it. Let me tell ya, the service was so fast and smooth, I thought I was dreaming eh. Great food, friendly vibes, and enough Canadian charm to make ya wanna say "sorry" when someone else bumps into you. 10/10, would recommend--now pass the syrup, eh?

Noticed ladies working in the dining room to assure tables are clean as soon as customers leave. Once your meal is ready, they will call your name or someone will bring it to your table. Retro decor. Loved the music. Located across from SMU. You have the college crowd, residents from the neighborhood, grandparents with their grandchildren, and drive thru all buzzing with conversation. I found the chicken livers lightly battered, crispy on the outside and very tender meat on the inside. Mashed potatoes, gravy, and green beans were my sides. All tasty. Add additional seasonings and pepper sauce if you prefer. Be sure to check out the banana pudding. I requested extra meringue. Dessert was made fresh and tasted great. Pick-up, drive through, or dine in. Side note: Although there is no place for a tip when paying for your order... I always leave a tip on the table or hand it to the ladies working there. Much deserved for their hard work, friendly smiles, and pleasant attitude.

The restaurant wasn't particularly busy, but it still took about 5-10 minutes before we were seated. The coffee was excellent, the omelettes were decent, and the kids' pancakes were delicious. The biscuits and toast on the side were also really good. Unfortunately, the hash browns, sausage, and bacon were disappointing. If you enjoy a 1950s-style diner vibe with friendly, welcoming staff, this place nails the atmosphere. We had the most wonderful waitress, Nancy. She was attentive and spot on with making sure our needs were met. (Mostly with ketchup). They don't have bottles of ketchup because somebody's, rotten, unsupervised kid filled a ketchup bottle with crayons. UGH. Could have been a lawsuit for this diner. You now have to deal with tiny cups of ketchup for dipping. How sad. Our waitress brought us sauce, Tabasco and Louisiana sauce. Personally, we're a Cholula sauce type of family. Hopefully, they will add this choice to the menu for a table offering. Everything, we ordered to eat was delicious! Hubby had the pork chops which I thought were chicken fried steak. The coating was crisp and perfect for the 2 pork chops. He loved them! Plus the mashed potatoes were 100% real potatoes! The white gravy was great. You can also choose to have brown gravy if you like. One of our kids had catfish. Our fault for not ordering it to be crispy. No biggy, the portions are gracious. Comes with cornbread. I had the burger. You'd think at a diner it would be greasy and gross. However, far from it! The bacon was crisp and the condiments on top the burger were fresh! This place is nothing fancy. Lots of nostalgia. The food is like eating at home. They do offer a senior citizen discount! I'm sure they also offer a military discount, however I did not ask. For being a "hole in the wall" restaurant, off the beaten path, I recommend this place! My family loves these kind of restaurants. No flare, and the food is always so darn good. The wait staff is impressive! The food is satisfying and the nostalgia makes this place worth a visit. March 2025
