Outstanding little breakfast spot in the middle of Mexican restaurants and auto body shops. What a gem of a find! We had the ranchero wrap, hummus and the pork belly sandwich. Everything was perfect. You order at the counter and then have the food brought to your table. The decor is modern, hip with lots of grays and a pop of red in the bar stools. Parking is still reasonable in this neighborhood, especially on weekends. We came early on Sunday morning (9am) and the place was empty. Service is very kind and polite with a smile. I remember coming here pre-pandemic for a networking event and being wowed by how cute the cafe was. There is plenty of seating and a clean restroom, inviting you to stay awhile. The food took a long time to come out and our waitress forgot one of our orders, but she was super sweet about it and even offered us a free coffee on the house. It was garnished with pickled onions. I like to be surgical when eating these things. So I ate it with a fork and a knife. The food was okay but i would definitely come back to try their other stuff, I had a salmon Benedict and my poached egg was a bit overcooked but the arugula and the smoked salmon was delicious. My friend ordered the lemon ricotta pancake and that was a bit dry but overall the experience was great. Decor was simple yet modern and you order at the counter and they bring you the food at your table, I believe there is outdoor seating as well which is a plus during the nice weather. Got the Ranchero Egg Wrap with bacon, and it was super delicious. With the eggs scrambled just right and the balance of cheese and avocado. The Pumpkin Latte had a strange sour taste to it, didn't like it at all. I finally stopped by with two other friends on a Monday afternoon - just for us to work while eating. There were maybe a few people sitting in the front, not crowded at all. It's a pretty big cafe and plenty of seating with hipster decor. They also offer self-serve water. You sit wherever you want and they'll bring over the food and drinks. They only serve brunch on weekends but they have plenty of breakfast foods for the weekdays. I had the avocado toast and added ham (+$2) with a side of home fries ($4). I also had a latte with almond milk (wish they offered soy). I almost paid $20 for my entire meal. The avocado toast also had an egg, tomatoes, arugula and a pesto sauce. I really liked how they incorporated the pesto, it was surprisingly a good match with the avocado. I felt there weren't much avocado on my toast, which was disappointing. The toast was also practically burnt. The ham was your typical deli ham, I would pass on that add on next time. The home fries were good, it had a spicy kick to it. My friends got wraps and they both enjoyed it. One of them got an iced green tea latte and it wasn't good at all, so she didn't end up drinking it. We stayed for about 2 hours without being bothered. I definitely would be back here - great atmosphere and reasonable prices. read more

Didn't know the neighbourhood, and looked at a couple of reviews and drive past a couple of places first trying to find a brunch spot. This place is definitely a cut above many of the other nearby venues, nicer, cleaner, better selection. The food was great, loads of options, egg-centric and other such as pancakes, avocado toast etc. We had an omelette, smoked salmon scramble, bacon/ pancakes/ scrambled egg, and ricotta pancakes with banana. All very good and very reasonably priced. I knocked them down from 5 star because the seating etc during Covid was very confused, they didn't seem to know what was ok/ not ok and people kept strolling in and sitting down- I'm sure they will get it sorted out soon- maybe they should also invest in some outside tables and make it nice out there. Wow, this place is fantastic and one of the few breakfast brunch places near the sunset park area. If you eat eggs, they also have quite a few vegetarian options. #win A few friends and I decided to check it out for Saturday brunch. It's more like a cafe as you go to the counter and order and they bring you the food. The prices are very affordable. I ordered the avocado toast without any meat, a cranberry apple cider. My friends ordered the waffle with berries and the grain bowl. Eventually we got a second round of drinks when I got the Mexican spiced hot chocolate (so delicious!) and my friends got the frozen lattes. All are pictured below. Service was excellent. Food was excellent. You pay for what you get so one avocado toast is like a very light breakfast, 2 would be standard what you'd get at a normal brunch place. I would recommend mixing and matching the waffles and the avocado toast. You will be pleasantly surprised by crunchy sweet flavor of the waffle compared to the savory avocado toast. Came here on a early weekday afternoon. I ordered the salmon and eggs and a Belgian waffle. The cashier was very nice and friendly. The food was decent. The waffle had a little too much powdered sugar and was a tad bit dry but had a nice slight crunch to it. The salmon and eggs were really good but the toast that comes with it was a lil too hard that I wasn't able to use a knife to it all. I will still return. Finally a new brunch spot opened up around me! You basically walk in and sit yourself down and place your order at the counter. The environment is very spacious. A lot of available seatings and plenty of space to maneuver in. Love the decoration inside, very modern and aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. Only one restroom, but thank for for such a clean bathroom! Customer service is SPECTACULAR! They offer a variety of fresh baked goods. Variety of caffeinated drinks and non-caffeinated drinks. They also have a variety of breakfast and brunch options to choose from. Their brunch options are only for weekends only. Let's start with what I tried this time around: 1) FRESH SQUEEZED ORANGE JUICE: Yes, definitely on the pricier side. $6, but it is indeed freshly squeezed. My boyfriend didn't really enjoy it much though sadly, he said it was way too sour. 2) STRAWBERRY ARMOLD PALMER: I personally really enjoyed it. Not too sweet and not too sour and I love that they added a mint leaf for some added taste. 3) AVOCADO TOAST: A small portion, but it is perfect for me. I love everything about this toast, especially with the added pesto inside. So so delicious. Will definitely come back again and again just for this! 4) STEAK & EGSS: My boyfriend got this as his meal and he was slightly disappointed. The steak was way too cooked (his fault for not telling the cashier how he wanted his steak and the cashier's fault for forgetting to ask how he wants his steak). The steak was way too salty. They also added salt and pepper to his eggs, but it should be an option for the customers to add for themselves. The meal was suppose to come with cheese and jalapeño butter on the side, but it wasn't provided. They forgot. My boyfriend also said that he wish there was some greens on the side of his plate to go with the steak. Even though the Steak & Eggs was not so good and they forgot to provide the side condiments with the meal, when I mentioned it to the manager/boss, she sincerely apologized and gave us some baked goods to take to go. This restaurant caught us by surprise! True definition of hidden gem! It was relatively busy the morning of when we walked in. They offer a wide range of coffees, juices, shakes, etc! WHAT I NEED to try next time is their tasty looking selection of pastries. Their service was working at max speed as every employee was working so well in a knit tight environment. Slimak's interior is clean and airy with a bunch of tables and booths and a counter toward the back. The owners were friendly and happy to see all the new customers. I ended up ordering a roasted Turkey Panini with sharp cheddar and a strawberry lemonade to go. They quickly prepared the order and packed my bag with a thank you slice of blueberry pie! The lemonade was perfect for a warm day. My sandwich was good. The bread a bit on the oily side, the lettuce had some iceberg spines that I could have done without and the salad was underdressed but overall I'm excited to go back.
