This is a sad review to have to make... This was our go-to place after biking and have been consistent customers for the last few years. Not sure what has happened but the place has taken a serious nose dive. We have given it about 8 tries since we started having bad experiences because we didn't want our fun times here to die......but they are sadly dead and I don't see us returning again. This year (2022) there was a waiter was so slimy. He looked disheveled and while I wouldn't have ever really even noticed how someone dresses it just completed the entire picture of his pompous passive aggressive "too cool for school" attitude. He was constantly complaining to us, (yes, the customer he didn't know) about all the other patrons. He told us how annoying all his other tables were (who were in adjacent booths next to us) and how the 'brunch crowd' just needs to "GO HOME!' Everyone seemed very polite that we witnessed including a little elderly lady who asked for an itemized bill because she was, well, older and that's what she wanted. Who cares? Sure enough, came back to us to complain about her too. Next time we came in we were unfortunate enough to get this same tool as our server. Same experience except he now seemed annoyed by us for just showing up. We brought another couple with us and I was mortified by our experience. They were like, "and you say this is one of your favorite places to eat after biking? WHY???" I had asked for a specific cocktail they used to have on their menu (super simple to make, I make it all the time at home) which has been made each time, no question. He was SO inconvenienced as if he had to personally make it (which he did not) but it was made in this tiny glass and I was charged $12-14 per glass. We asked for an itemized check (we were splitting it) and my gawd that pissed him off. We even came back one more time and darn it, we got him yet again.....same experience as previous. Fast forward the entire summer and I decided to do a drive by to see if he was working and if he was I'd go elsewhere. We didn't see him and when I came in all the staff had changed (not sure if the tool still works here or not). Everyone was pleasant but it took about 10 min at least to get each drink and the place was empty inside and only about 3 tables outside who were paying their bills when we arrived. I ordered the breakfast nachos and they were dry as a desert. I had to order a side of green chili to dip the dry chip into. I took most of it home and when eating them little later bit into a large piece of hard plastic that was in the nachos. Our waitress was nice, super young but never asked if we were even enjoying our meals as I really wanted to give feedback but no one was interested in hearing it. I asked about the manager who had worked there for a long time and literally no one knew who I was talking about. Sad..... The bloody mary was just tomato juice, no spice or flavor and in a very small glass that was probably 4 oz of liquid if without ice. I have no idea what has happened to this place but we aren't sticking around paying to figure it out. Another place bites the dust. read more

This is a hidden gem a few blocks west of Edgewater Pizza. It is located on a corner, red brick building with a great open area. Most seats are pews from an old church. Nice stretch patio on the west side with a garden of flowers to see. Today was brunch...great mimosas either one buck or three bucks depending on size. Bloody Mary bar. I had great French toast with bacon. My companion had the fried chicken with waffle. GET IT. They also serve lunch and dinner with daily specials. Looking at the menu online the food looked enticing. That was the only time it was enticing. The bar / restaurant was extremely loud playing horrible music. I ordered a Caesar salad with chicken. The waitress told me it was pulled chicken and was I okay with that. Not what I would expect on a Caesar salad but I said okay. When I took a bite of the chicken I almost choked it was so spicy. Don't put spicy pulled chicken on a Caesar salad. What is the cook thinking? Big disappointment and I will not be going back nor will I advise anyone that I know to go. read more

Sloan's is a good little Edgewater neighborhood tavern not in my neighborhood. Families and groups of friends hang out at the generously spaced tables. Hipster couples and lone drinkers, along with cops from the police station across the street, drop in and out. The servers are sweet and congenial, if not a little harried. The food is cheap and filling (had the daily special surf and turf 8 oz flatiron topped with shrimp). Worth it at $12.99. As were the $3.75 draft pints of Newcastle. So I've found yet another beer arrow to place in my trusty quiver of fun-packed alcohol drinkin' hangouts. Bottom line . . . Give'm a try when you're next sentenced to spend some time in Edgewater. read more

So this place is large and open but has a good casual feel with a long bar along one side with wood paneling throughout. There is a pool table in the back near the restrooms but it is a bit cramped while playing sometimes. Great patio for warm weather as well. Food: Fresh made fried kettle chips are tasty and great with the double-meat Maytag Burger. I've had a few other good menu items such as the Macaroni and also their Fish and Chips but the Maytag Burger seems to be a reoccurring favorite. read more

My family and I have been coming here for over 10 years, it WAS our favorite place to eat, since we live in Sloans Lake... Unfortunately, the last 2 times that we have ordered dinner to go it's been terrible. Tonight's order was 2 french dip sandwiches and a bacon cheeseburger. All three had really dry meat, the burger overcooked(somehow without melting the cheese), and one of the French dip sandwiches was mostly fat. My 11 yr old wouldn't even finish hers and that is the only thing that she orders from them, her favorite... It's quite a let down that while we wanted to support our neighborhood eatery during these hard times that we now have to find a new place that is as delicious as Sloan's Bar and Grill once was... We have been coming here for years but the food has gone down hill. Today I ordered the classic breakfast and added the ham steak that the waitress said was thick. It was no thicker than a slice of bacon. It was super dried out. This is the default place that my friends and I come when we can't decide on anywhere else to go. Partly because it's close to friends' houses and partly because we've always had success with the food here. Service is mostly on with a couple exceptions. Overall, a great neighborhood place to grub. They also have Guinness on draft, 'nuff said. They do decent brunch on the weekends, I've gotten the benedicts here along with mimosas and they were both delicious! Some of the best things I've had here - Burger sliders, grilled artichokes, sweet potato fries, portabello mushroom burger, California burger, all of their salads, P.E.I. mussels is really really good, I like the mussels better than Le Central... minimum sand in them, which is great, and tasty flavors. They always have drink special of some sort on the weekdays and I have never been let down here with the food. The atmosphere sometimes could get pretty loud so it might be hard to talk to people but overall I really enjoy coming here. read more

It seems like 3rd times was the charm. The service was worlds better this last time we went. It's possible it was because it was 4:30 p.m. on a Saturday, but I really think the manager (J.R.) cares a lot. After my last review, he reached out to me to get details about my visits so that he could make an attempt to better the quality of the restaurant. That is huge to me! Having someone who truly cares about service and customers means a lot. I got the Reuben again and it was better than I remember (and I remember it being good). The boyfriend got the French Dip and even though he was SO full after eating half of it and drinking 2 beers, he still ate the other half because it was that good and he wanted it all. I really like this neighborhood spot. I tried it for the first time on Friday, beer and food and all. I think this one is a great neighborhood staple. We ordered an appetizer to share- smoked salmon with toasts and cream cheese, and it came with all the toppings- capers, red onion, cucumbers and tomatoes. Smoked salmon is my fave and I can't turn it down. I had fish and chips. Now, I know cod isn't all that impressive, but I've had some bad fish and chips. This wasn't bad at all and was actually quite good. The exterior breading on the fish was nice and crispy, the fish on the inside was flaky and moist. That's all you need when it comes to fish and chips really. Solid food. You'll definitely find a beer that suits your fancy. They have all the normal bar staples along with some cool feature taps. Really solid food, beer, and laid back atmosphere. Can't really ask for more than that. I'm definitely intrigued by the happy hour selections, and told my hubs we need to go back for that when we can get in early! read more

Pretty bleh brunch experience. I had the croque madame. It was.. chewy? Like the whole thing was sponge-like and bland. Fries were not great. My friend's breakfast burrito did not impress either. I'm a huge fan of brunch at Sloan's, but I try to be quiet about it because it's a miracle that we can always find a seat on the weekends with a $4 bloody mary bar with literally ALLL the hot sauces you could possibly imagine. The menu selection is a little limited for vegetarians, but I love their veggie benedict their hollandaise sauce is perfect. Definitely a bar atmosphere unless you sit out on the enclosed patio which have heaters -- but it's still a bit chilly in the winter. I personally think it's better than Rupert's down the street and you don't have to wait an hour like every other hoppin' brunch joint on the weekend. read more

A good reliable neighborhood bar with good eats. I'm a huge burger fan and this place does not disappoint. Delicious juicy burgers with crispy yummy fries. Top it off with a pint of your favorite brew and what more could you want in life? Big bar and large seating area. We came here a few times for trivia. Really hard to hear the trivia questions in the bar. Service is okay and parking is a little annoying. Price is right. Great spot to grab lunch! Sloan's bloody mary bar is the best! I had to stop by some friends' place up in the Edgewater area for Halloween costume materials and remembered reading rave reviews about this place on yelp. We had decided to combine everything into a long overdue brunch outing so I suggested Sloan's (as we all enjoy building our own bloody marys). It was nice enough to sit outside so we did. The brunch menu is pretty short, reasonably priced, and doesn't really list any ala carte options (although they were more than happy to accomodate requests, substitutions, etc). I decided to go for French toast - a kind of out of left field move for me, since I'm an eggs for breakfast gal myself. So I subbed eggs for bacon. While they don't technically do this, they were able to do two (as opposed to three) pieces of French toast plus eggs to get it at the same price, which was just dandy. One friend got the veggie benedict which I snagged a bite of (delicious) and the other got the chicken and waffles which was enormous. The French toast was tasty as far as French toast goes, but I'll probably go for the benedict next time. It's just how I roll. But, OH! The bloody mary bar! Not only do they have a variety of peppers to add, they also have almost every mainstream hot sauce there is including.....SRIRACHA. Because bloodies are best spicy, but don't always need to be overpowered by vinegar. All of this fun for $3. The smaller mimosas are a steal at $1 so I had one of each. So, thanks yelp for steering me towards yet another cool spot I wouldn't have otherwise known about. I need to get out in this Edgewater area more often. read more

Holy flatiron steak sliders with havarti on Hawaiian bread! These were delicious. Plus they have excellent homemade kettle chips which, when crunched, echo throughout the very fiber of my being and say, "hey, these are deliciously good chips and you should eat more of them." [my being is not as eloquent as I would like sometimes] SV had a grilled avocado, tomato and cheese on grilled marble rye (she added pickles, which is a nice tangy complement to the avocado), my parents were in town and they each had a burger and were quite pleased with the results. Their sweet potato fries and onion rings are good but weren't as good as the kettle chips. I'm still thinking about them. Lots of beers on tap and nice specials. I think we'll try to come back for their brunch at some point. And board games! And some TVs for that sport watching thing. Overall, the menu is pretty ordinary but well executed. The MOST important thing to know about Sloan's: They have an AMAZING bloody mary bar!! If you like bloody's, you must come here for brunch on Saturday or Sunday. This is the standard to which all bloody mary bars should hold themselves. Seriously, you will not be disappointed. There are several mixes to chose from, dozens of hot sauces, interesting add-ins like spicy green beans, and everything from bouillon to celery powder. They also offer infused vodkas (pickle, garlic, jalapeno) for $1 more. Pro Tip: you can also add in infused pickle, garlic, and jalapeno juice at the bloody mary bar itself, so you might as well save a dollar by ordering the well. Then you can use the money you save to get yourself a cheap ($1) mimosa! Although the bloody's get 5+ stars, nothing else about this place particularly wows me. Food wise, the prices are a bit high for what you get. A comparable meal at the nearby Providence Tavern is much cheaper, and so it's hard for me to justify ordering food here unless it's brunch. They do have some pretty good drink specials though, and there is a decent- albeit rarely rotating- selection of beer on tap. read more

I was having a hard time deciding between the Steak Benedict or the Challah French Toast (based on its amazing reviews)... Our server offered me a single piece of toast for something like $2. Arguably the best $2 I've ever spent. Lacey had the Croque Madame and our friend Katie ordered the Pulled Pork Benedict. DAMN that was some tasty pork. The hollandaise was one of my favorites I've had, and the $1 mimosas are nice. Love the ambiance and decor, and I've been in at night and had the flight of Grand Marnier. Can I just say "I F'ing dig this place" and leave it at that? No? What more do you need to know? Set a good 6 blocks west of Sheridan, Sloan's isn't hard to find, but the extra distance from the hubbub of "downtown" Edgewater seems to keep the crowds at a minimum. A huge plus in my book. We've been 3 times now - twice for brunch and once for dinner. Brunch just knocks it out of the park. Fried Chicken and Waffles. That's all I need to say, really, but I'll go on: The fried chicken is delicious! Crunchy and flavorful on the outside, juicy and delicious on the inside. You get 3 pieces. Add in a large and tasty waffle and you have what, in my opinion, brunch is all about. The perfect marriage of breakfast and lunch. The waffle is as good as my Ouma-in-law makes. Crispy on the outside, light and fluffy inside. On the dinner menu, I have only really had their Southwest Burger: Natural, grass fed beef topped with a grilled green chile and pepper jack. I could eat two, mostly because they delicious, but also because they aren't huge. Probably a 1/3 pounder. At $7.50 for this burger, it is a little pricey, especially since it doesn't come with anything else. But, it's still a tasty burger. The sides are good too. Sweet Potato Fries: Great! Onion Rings: Good. Good beers on tap, nice brunch drink selection (Do it yourself Bloody Mary Bar during Brunch!), and the fact that they serve water in old mason jars says a lot too. Their patio is nice, but narrow. On the minus side, there was a slight fly problem when we first visited. The narrow patio means that when people leave via the patio, you have to scoot your chair way in or risk tripping people. Inside can be loud. Not really a minus, necessarily, for me, but something to note. Thanks, Sloan's! You've given us another reason to head to Edgwater! read more

Sloan's is exactly what I look for in a local bar. It's a corner spot in a great neighborhood with a very friendly atmosphere and staff. I wold wager that if you aren't having a good time at Sloan's, you are most likely dead or in need of serious medication. It has a very " Old West Saloon" look on the inside, and there's lots of room for small and large parties. We came here on New Years Eve about 9:30, it was pretty packed at the bar but they had our table ready for us. It actually cleared up a bit within an hour. The service was great, and come 11:45 the bar poured a free glass of champagne for everybody. I didn't have any food, but what I saw and smelled at my table was pretty tempting. I also like all the different specials they offer here. Good deals on food and drinks every night and there's also trivia, karaoke, and live music on different nights. Oh, and something of particular note, I ordered an Old Fashioned and that bartender knew how to make that perfectly! (So I ordered another.) This truly is one of the best spots in Denver!
