Sloan's on the Ave is such a cute and fun stop if you're in downtown Delray! The shop is bright, colorful, and has so much more than just ice cream. There are plenty of ice cream flavors to choose from, along with fun treats like ice cream cookie sandwiches and donuts stuffed with ice cream. One of my favorite parts was browsing all of the personalized trinkets, toys, and huge candy selection. It's the kind of place where both kids and adults can find something they love. There is limited outdoor seating, but even though the shop was busy when we visited, we were still able to grab a table since a lot of people took their treats to go. No peanut signage....my 18 y/0 daughter that has a peanut allergy order the scrumptious pretzel ice cream.. she is smart enough to avoid any thing that says reese,butterfinger peanut butter. Etc...mid way through eating her ice cream she was like dad this taste weird... Driving home her throat started to itch and started to get hives and hard time breathing..we gave her meds and a breathing machine. Thank god it wasn't worst where she needed her EpiPen or emergency room... She googled the menu on line afterwards and the pretzel ice cream says it has peanut butter ribbons... No where in the store did the menu say anything about the pretzel ice cream having peanut butter.. Maybe add the word with peanut butter... Fresh and fun ice cream shop with several locations around south Florida. I ordered a kid's cup of cookie dough cookie. They have a ton of flavors and the shop is an experience with the interior design and treats. Staff is patient and kind. There was a lot of noise from customers when I was there, but the staff was focused on making sure people were happy and got their ice cream. The coolest part of this location is the restroom. GREAT GIFT IDEA ALERT: I can honestly say the gifts and treats they sell for fun are just as fabulous as the ice cream! The staff are helpful and smiling- they happily offer samples of any flavors you want to try. The hot fudge, marshmallow sauce and peanut butter sauce are favorites as are the Caramel Covered Apples and Cake Pops which make amazing gifts. On a few occasions I have gone into Sloan's at Rosemary Square, very last minute, and gotten the above mentioned as housewarming gifts- they put the Apples into a cute box then place them in their festive plastic Sloans bag- it seems like a throwback type of spot. I ended up here because Holly subliminally put ice cream in my head at dinner. Or it may be the tiny piece of fish that left me hungry. Sloan's opened their first location in West palm Beach in 1999. They now have other locations including City Place, Clematis St., Mizner Park, Doral, and Lauderdale by the Sea. Opened in 2013, Delray was their fifth store. I can't believe this is my first time trying them but it was definitely fate. A car pulled out of one of the hard to find parking spaces just when I was going by and I had the perfect amount of time left on my paid parking from dinner. I love the candy colored interior of Sloan's. Besides ice cream they sell novelties and candy. A waffle cone with one scoop of snickers ice cream was $5 with a Yelp check in that netted me an additional 10 percent off. I thought that was inexpensive for dessert on Atlantic Ave. The ice cream was chock full of candy, so delicious!. I need to take a moment to talk about that bathroom though because I have never seen anything like it. In the middle of the store there is a clear walled room where you can see a toilet! You lock the door and the wall will fog so you can't see inside except some people forget to lock the door providing a show. Thanks for the laugh and I wouldn't use that restroom for anything. I had only ever been to the Boca Raton location, so I was super excited to see that there is one right on Atlantic Ave. I convinced my boyfriend to stop, and I am so happy we did! The location itself is so fun! There are so many little knick knacks that you can look at and even purchase. The store is so clean and bright! You literally could turn in any direction and see something new! The bathroom is of course at hot topic...you'll have to stop in and see for yourself! Make sure to lock the door before you begin! I got the traditional chocolate in a waffle cone. The ice cream was sooooo creamy, and the cone was delicious. They have a ton of flavors to choose from, so many different toppings, and a couple of options for serving. I'm always a fan of the plain cone, but they even have some withe sprinkles on the outside. My first time in a Sloan's Ice Cream shop and it was a fantastic sensory overload experience. My eyes, my nose and my tastebuds all activated as soon as I entered. Sweets galore, it's like a carnival funhouse candy shop. The store is bright, clean and the staff is friendly. They have candies, chocolates and ice cream oh my. Halfway in the store and mouth watering immensely. They have some of my favorite, down the shore/boardwalk, treats, caramel apple with nuts and maple walnut fudge just to name a couple. What I love most about Sloan's are their unique flavors and how they stuff their ice-cream with morsels of goodies (eg real pistachios, chunks of cake and cookies, generous chocolate chips). I've enjoyed all the flavors I've tried so far, and the creamy smooth texture they have. Favorite flavor: Carrot cake. Sloan's adds actual chunks of carrot cake and cream cheese frosting, which you're guaranteed to get a bite full of in each scoop. The ice-cream itself also has a hint of carrot cake and nutmeg flavor, with walnuts mixed in. I highly recommend, especially to all those carrot cake lovers out there!! Other flavors I liked: Almond Joy taste just like a creamy almond joy bar - an explosion of coconut, chocolate, and almonds in your mouth! Sloan's is a Boca Raton/Delray Beach area staple for sweet treats and ice cream and has been for years. It's colorful, whimsy, and undeniably fun inside. They're best known for... get this- their bathroom. The walls are totally see through until you lock the door and it fogs up. They offer candy, little sweet gifts (literally), ice cream, sweets, shakes, galore. They have some fun flavors like coffee and donuts, and scouts honor which is similar to a Thin Mint ice cream. The downside is the price. The smallest size you can get is two scoops. I asked for one, but they would not oblige. It was almost $6 for two scoops. I got Scouts Honor, which is delicious, and cookie dough, which contained just a small piece of dough. My guy got a milk shake that was on the small side for over $7. They couldn't make him the shake he wanted because they were out of what was needed; they were out of a lot last night, but I wouldn't fault them. A huge tennis event was going on, so the crowds matched. Overall, Sloan's makes tasty ice cream with fun flavors. Pretty pricey for what we got. read more
