This was our first visit here to check out a local favorite located on Colton Ave. There's limited parking, but we were able to find a spot. The place is small, but has a cute appearance as you walk up into the cafe. Fortunately there wasn't a long line and we ordered the iced honey cinnamon latte and iced sweet chai teas. To my delight, our orders were made within less than five minutes from ordering them. The ambiance inside had a calming vibe. I saw people just chilling with their drinks while on their laptops. There's tables outside too to enjoy your drinks on a nice day. The employees here were definitely nice and friendly and the barista was fast with their service. 3.7 star for service and ambiance. Staff was welcoming and educated on the coffee without being overwhelming. I would come back for a warm drink and a welcoming atmosphere. To be honest the coffee was a bit too fruity/sour/acidic. I asked before ordering if the blend the had was smooth or fruity, they responded that it was smooth. I also got the PB n J, got all excited, but the bread was dry and PB had an after taste. We also got a Latte, and it was OK If anyone recommends another drink or blend, I'll try it. My wife and I have visited Slow Bloom a handful of times since it's opening. We've followed them since they tried to unionize at Augie's and were operating as a coffee stand outside of Bricks & Birch. I'm sad to say that the quality has really gone down. We've had a hard time actually getting to sit at the shop and when we have, it's not very welcoming or spacious. Every single time we have ever ordered, whoever was cashier seemed to not like being there. At all. We always start with a "hello" or a "good morning" but never seem to get one in return. Whenever we try to customize drinks, we get a flat "sure" or "anything else"? I've also asked about their different types of coffee and flavor profiles and almost none of them have ever been able to give me a detailed or informed response about their product, which you'd think all of the workers would be knowledgeable about as a Cooperative business. The baristas had more energy but as the first point of contact, the cashiers should really be trying to sell the vibes. The customer base isn't all that friendly either. Lots of entitled people having pretentious conversations. The shop is almost always crowded with these types of people, other than those who are actually trying to study. It's cramped inside and despite having patio seating, it still feels too small. Not to mention it's terribly uneven because of the asphalt. Not a great place to hang out, though it seems everyone tries to as a way to justify going against the corporate grain. Coffee-wise, there isn't a variety of flavor profiles. I worked with coffee for 6 years and I find it's better that a shop at least have a small selection of light, medium and dark roasts available to try. I understand that the non-Arabica beans tend to be cheaper, but you get what you pay for. The issue with smaller coffee businesses is that the coffee all tastes the same, like overly ripe fruit. Yes, there's a market for that type of flavor, but it's disappointing that there isn't more to offer other than seasonal syrups to layer on top of the fruit-forward coffee. It doesn't mask the flavor well. Mind you, I can appreciate a light or medium roast coffee that has fruity notes, but these beans taste just like every other place. Overall, it's just not what I expected from a business born from passion and resilience. Truthfully, you're better off getting an honest human experience, better quality coffee, and better atmosphere from places like Molino's and all of the new Klatch counters at Sprouts stores. I love the values and inclusivity this coffee shop promotes. Their seasonal drinks are delicious, though a bit pricey and the baristas are nice. I have been here three different times. The drinks were great and so was the ambiance but it gets soured when the employees just look like they don't want you there. Two out of the three times I've been there, once I've paid I just stood there awkward because there was no social cue of the interaction being done. No "your all set" or "did you want a receipt" it just seems rude to me, especially when the last time my father was with me he paid and was just told " I need to help the person behind you". I appreciated that there was a free parking lot next to the property...and that there was easy street parking to the side of the building to supplement the small size of the free parking lot. The service was good. Quick, friendly. Coffee was tasty and on par with similar coffee shops in this price range. Very much appreciated the clean restroom that was available. The downside of this shop...and the reason that I most likely won't go out of my way to stop by again...is the lack of space. I'm not just talking about in-shop seating. I'm talking about physical space to operate within the shop. Physical space to stand in line and place an order. Physical space to wait for your coffee, for the restroom, etc. Everything is so tight and narrow that it made the otherwise charming atmosphere really hard to navigate. I went late on a Monday morning after what most would consider the "morning coffee rush time"...at around 11:30 a.m. Every single seat inside appeared to be occupied by someone working on their laptop, and with the way the seating is currently arranged inside, it made it challenging to come in, get a coffee, and leave...which is honestly all I wanted to do. I do love the look and feel of the outdoor seating area. Even though it was still crowded, being outside helped curb the claustrophobic feel. I think if the indoor seating was reduced to allow for a less chaotic flow of to-go orders, this place would jump up higher on my list. As it stands, my autistic, occasionally-socially-anxious ass will need to find a treat coffee spot elsewhere. read more

This place blew me away. From being a hidden gem in a city where I didn't expect to find such good coffee to be served. There were other spots I wanted to check out but I chose this place and there has been no regret, except that I live so far that I can't get some more often. Very friendly people, very knowledgeable and patient to explain the menu and their coffees. Clean and plenty of seating with their own parking lot are logistic highlights. Yet as with any other business, it all comes down to the coffee, and this place on the coffee alone is worthy of 5 stars. Perfectly balanced and well extracted lattes aren't always easy to find. I do have to eventually try other items on the menu but their cafe de olla is a seasonal drink so I need to enjoy it while its still around. Ended up getting the spicy chai with oat milk. It had a full flavor with a hint of spice at the end. Their single origin cold brew coffee was also delicious, he explained how the beans were fermented to give more of a natural sweetness. you know the coffee's about to SLAP when they got a pride flag waving outside of their business we got one of their tres leches latte, which comes with almond milk by default, and it tasted amazing! It was a bit too bitter for my liking, but my sister did well to enjoy it. I also love how their team operates here! when I was waiting at the front of the line, one of the employees accidentally dropped a cup or something and it shattered. the other employees (and the boss) reassured them and calmly resolved the situation. seeing how a boss treats their employees speaks volumes about their business, and it was reflected to my interaction with them as they handed me my drink with a warm smile and a twinkle in their eye :) I'll definitely be back to study! I visited this place for the first time today and I am shook! The soul chai latte with oat milk was so good. It wasn't too sweet or watered down. I usually make my own chai at home because I have such a hard time finding ones I like. I can't wait to try other drinks. I went to the cafe around 9:15 AM in the morning. I wasn't very crowded at that time. There was not even a line. I worked in the outdoor area and went indoors around an hour later and it was busy. All the seats indoors were occupied.
