    Banana matcha

Final consensus: I'd recommend sticking with the coffee when you visit Slowpokes. I really enjoyed my vanilla latte and my coworker raves about the Lazy! I gave their matcha several chances because I wanted to write an honest review. After about five visits, I noticed the matchas weren't very consistent. I tried both the strawberry matcha and the brown sugar matcha multiple times, and each visit tasted a little different. It wasn't bad by any means, but the flavor and quality varied enough that it didn't always feel worth the price.

Never been to this location, but the coffee shop is cute. Ordered a matcha latte. 1. They say it's presweetened but it's honestly not that sweet 2. Ordered raspberry syrup in my matcha and I don't taste it at all. The color itself is on the lighter side, and it honestly just tastes more like milk. Don't think I'd order the matcha again, but I've had their coffee before and I've enjoyed it.

Love when a place has lavender as an option for my coffee, so good!!! The food we tried was average, nothing too special. The spicy jam was pretty good though. They give you a thick piece of egg on the bagel it was like sliding off and got messy, couldn't really taste the cream cheese but the bagel was tasty. They had seating throughout- at the bar, tables and outside front and sides of the restaurant with covers. It was pretty dim inside. Parking in the back and front, since it's a shopping strip there's a lot of parking you just have to walk in between the restaurants to get to it. Service was good.

Slowpokes has THE best breakfast bagel and you can't tell me otherwise. Staff is so friendly and the place is open, aery, and relaxing to study, talk to friends, or relax

There's something special about having a place like this just a short walk from home. No matter the time--morning sunrises, afternoon resets, or quiet evenings before bed--it's my go-to spot to slow down and enjoy a perfect cup of coffee. The atmosphere is always on point: chill music, a welcoming vibe, and genuinely cool baristas who make every visit better. Easily one of my favorite places--beautiful energy, beautiful location. Es un lugar especial a solo unos pasos de mi casa. Ya sea en la mañana, tarde o noche, siempre es perfecto para tomar un café, disfrutar el ambiente tranquilo y la buena música. Sin duda, uno de mis lugares favoritos.

Staff is always nice and my favorite location in the garden oak location. I have a usual order which is purple rain extra shot iced. Not sure if the syrup was a little off today ( they make it in house) but shots were watered down and there was too much milk not sweet at all it was a pretty drink that was not good and that never happens Grabbed 2 cookies and one alfajores - they get it from Michael's cookie jar- snickerdoodle and sprinkle cookies great and usual but the alfajores was probably the worst alfajores I have ever had unfortunately. If it wasn't labeled as alfajores I might have liked it

Like most, I had no idea that this location of Slowpokes existed. Tucked in the back of the shopping strip, on the far side, I felt like I'd discovered a secret spot when I arrived... if you walk from The Blond Goat, you're in for a treat. IYKYK. Similar to the other locations you'll find a menu full of coffee, snacks, sandwiches, salads, wine, beer on tap and (the new kid on the block Italian Sodas). This trip, I chose two new to me items. One Monster Mash Italian soda and a Cali sandwich. While I usually go for the pesto chicken panini, this sandwich is a new favorite. Is it something could make at home- yes, probably. Is it also something I'd rather buy from a spot that makes it right, yep! The sandwich itself feels homemade, and I personally wish more cafes prepared their food in that way. The customer service this trip had both hits and misses, but the most notable part of this location is all of the students! It seemed like middle and high school students filled 50% of the tables. While it's personally not my vibe, it does bring a youthful energy to the place. Since I'm in this area semi frequently, I'll def have to keep this location in mind if I need some caffeine!

Cute little coffee shop in the long point area. I loved the interior decor and the outside seating. Keep in mind it can get packed and there's not a lot of space. Parking is limited and we had to street park. There is a two hour wifi limit and you have to pay for it afterwards. The drinks were delicious and the service was good. We sat at the big long tables but it was quite messy and we had to clean the food residue off before we got our work laptops out. The big tables have stool like chairs which don't have a back, making it hard to sit for too long.

I REALLY ENJOYED THIS PLACE!!! I ordered The Slowpoke latte and it was amazing! I never know what to get when I try a new place out, but one of the employees recommended it and it turned out to be a great choice. My friend ordered a drink that she thought wasn't sweet enough for her taste. They had no issue providing her with some extra honey to sweeten it up. Amazing customer service! The atmosphere was nice and relaxing. The weather worked out so we sat outside on the patio and soaked in some sun. They have plenty of locations to choose from, so if I you can't get to this particular one, I still highly recommend you finding one close and checking them out.

My go to items to order: Lazy latte, purple rain, berry parfait, ham & Brie croissant, salmon bagel, bagel dog. My favs are the parfait and croissant! Menu is pretty extensive and there's something for everyone. I've been here several times and it is very consistent. Staff is nice and very quick with orders. Great place to catch up with friends, study, or work.

Purple Rain and White Mocha Latte

I've been here a couple of times, just to stop and get coffee because my go-to spot closes early. It was pretty packed both times, with not much seating left in the afternoon and evening on a Saturday. I love the decor and ambiance. It feels very modern and clean, with plenty of seating and space for work, studying, or just hanging out with friends. My bf even remarked how nice the unisex restrooms are lol We got the same two drinks both times, the PURPLE RAIN and WHITE MOCHA LATTE. They required a bit of a learning curve because we like sweet coffee drinks, and we had to have them add vanilla both times. That's even after we requested them "extra sweet" (for an extra $0.25) the second time. They were shockingly not sweet at all, despite us requesting them to be. Thankfully, the baristas have been very friendly and helpful both times, checking with us after making the adjustments, if we'd like them even sweeter. Just great attitudes all around! One barista even commented that their drinks aren't very sweet, so I'm assuming this is a common issue with customers. Both times, after the sweetness level was adjusted, the drinks were great! I think we'll just have to request an extra 3-4 pumps of vanilla when ordering, and hopefully that'll do the trick!

    Pumpkin Spice Latte
    Adrian S.

Had a chance to stop by randomly driving the other day, was craving coffee and noticed Slowpokes. Heard great things about them but never tried it. I went with the pumpkin spice latte, liked that it wasn't overly sweet and they aren't heavy on the cream. Liked the vibes of this location - good music and a great place to work or study.

Does the internet have a time limit?

Yes. All the Slowpoke locations unfortunately have a 2 hour limit. One option is to come with a friend and you each get a snack or drink two hours apart. Or you can just buy a small pastry 2 hours after.

The décor, wine list, menu, comfortable seating, and cozy atmosphere make it such a special spot. They offer wines for every taste and budget, and the staff is knowledgeable when asked for recommendations. That's why this is difficult for me to write. Despite visiting frequently, I've consistently found the customer service to be unwelcoming. The service has a strange tone, and it isn't limited to one employee they all seem to share the same indifferent, slightly annoyed demeanor. The experience feels less like genuine hospitality and more like, "You're here what can I get you?" On my most recent visit, others in my group noticed and commented on the same thing without any prompting from me. Since they had never been before, it confirmed that it wasn't just my perception. One small interaction captured the overall tone. We asked whether they happened to have a birthday candle, and an employee responded in an annoyed tone by pointing to the candle on our table which, realistically, no one would put on a birthday dessert. We completely understood that they might not have one; it wasn't an unreasonable expectation or request. A simple, friendly response like, "Unfortunately, we don't, but we do have some delicious desserts," would have been perfectly fine. It wasn't the answer that bothered us. it was the way we were made to feel for asking. It may seem like a small interaction, but great hospitality is built on small moments. The atmosphere is warm, cozy, and inviting, but unfortunately, the service doesn't reflect that same feeling. People return to places where they feel welcomed and appreciated, especially in a city like Houston with so many wonderful food and wine options. I genuinely want The Library to thrive because it has everything else it needs to remain a true neighborhood favorite.

I was expecting the usual "belly up to the bar" wine tasting, but instead we were escorted to a back room that was set up with tables, candles, etc.-great atmosphere. We were seated with two other couples who were so much fun! We tasted five wines-two white and three red. They were all pretty good, but I enjoyed the whites the most (which is typical for me). The staff introduced the wines and talked about them to the entire group while another staff person poured, which worked out well. The pours were very generous, so keep that in mind when deciding who is driving home. The tastings came with a small plate of cheese, crackers & fruit. We were also given chocolate to pair with one of the wines, and an enchilada at the end (which was a little blah for me). It was a decent amount of food, so don't stuff yourself before coming. Hubby and I have done quite a bit of wine tasting, it's kind of a hobby for us, and this was one of our better experiences. Overall, we had a great time with the people and the wines (took home 6 bottles) and will go again. In fact, I already bought another Groupon for 4 to bring my parents when they are in town in May. The types of places that combine the atmosphere I'm looking for: 1) has a good selection of beer, preferably local brewers; 2) some wine or craft cocktails for different preferences; 3) has a food menu, permits outside food, or brings in food trucks/pop-ups; 4) a laid back vibe that welcomes families and doesn't have the air of pretentiousness; and lastly; 5) a patio for the small windows of nice weather we have in Houston, or just anytime we want to bring along our four legged friends. I've rarely ran across an outdoor patio that doesn't permit pets and if they do restrict them, it's not worth my business. To that end, this spot ticks a lot of boxes. For those who aren't into the Houston F&B scene as much, Robin Berwick is the creative mind behind this spot. If you've ever visited a caffeine themed coffee and bar in the midtown area, you've been to another long standing establishment of hers. When Berwick's opened roughly over a year ago, I knew this would be a spot I'd enjoy. This spot tows the line well, it's not a dive bar, it's not pretentious, and it has the neighborhood bar feel that welcomes those looking for a great cocktail, a simple beer, or just some good vibes with family, friends, or kids. It feels like if a laid back tiki bar combined with a rustic feel. Living nearby, I think it fits the area. Food & Drink - 4.5* They have burgers, wings, friends, salads. All the food is good and I definitely recommend grabbing a bite during your visit. I particularly like their burgers and always grab a cocktail to go along with it. Service - 4* I've had mixed results, sometimes the attention to detail and service times are really good. Others they can be a little long or the sense their focus is elsewhere. Cost - 4* They used to have solid specials but they have dropped off over time. As an example, there used to be BOGO burgers on Wednesdays from 4-9 pm. Then it was 50% off. That's now only 25% off on Wednesday and only from 4-7 pm. They also had half price margaritas and frozen las brujas. This is now 25% off. Tuesday's was half price French 75s and Sazeracs. That's now 25% off. Thursday's used to be BOGO wings, $3 pacificos, and half price daiquiris. That is also now just 25% off wings, daiquiris, and cabana crushes. Fridays is industry night. They offered 25% off the entire food menu from 10 pm-12 am, now it's only 11 pm-12 am and only for the sandwich. Look, I worked in the industry, I know it's tough. I get that it's really tough for bars in Houston to make the margins work when the burdens seem to continue to rise. Landlords particularly are brutal /rant. It's even tougher when a bar is just getting their feet under them. This neighborhood has seen a lot of great additions in the last couple of years and the specials had us visiting more often, particularly when they ran til 9 pm. We now can't make it as often with the cutoff at 7 pm. Ultimately we were spending more time and money during the past visits, but I'm sure the overall margins were thinner for them. Possibly even some loss leaders to get traffic and business in the door. Now that the specials and times have tightened we elected to diversify to other bars nearby. Ultimately, they're all local and have the vibes I look for. Overall - 4.25* I highly encourage everyone to give this spot a visit if you're nearby. It's a great spot with good drinks and friendly neighborhood vibes. I do wish they would make some further adjustments to certain things that I thought differentiated them from others, the 4-9 pm specials was particularly strong as it allowed for the chance to visit more often when many folks can't make it by 7 pm. At least it isn't as bad as some bars, that I won't name that have basically limited their offering to a 1-1.5 hour happy hour (though it is half price) that runs so early that it's shocking how anyone could visit during that small window.
