I came in without a reservation on a Friday, luckily I was able to find two bar seats. I ordered wings 10/10 they come with no sauce. Baked beans 10/10, Cole slaw 10/10, and potato salad 5/10 and it had jalapeños in it. They have a mix of rock music playing which is cool. Our bartender helped us super quick and I ordered an old fashioned 10/10. I've came here before for barbecue as well and it's amazing. I plan to return as always. Side note: they only have beer on tap.

Very good BBQ. We had Ribs, Chicken thighs, pulled pork and Brisket. All very good. I like my brisket less lean but it was still fall apart tender and tasty. The beans were the best I have ever had. The potato salad and waffle fries are amazing. Our server was absolutely fantastic. It was very clean. Devore is a bit dated, but it's a BBQ joint!

Best bbq in town! Great flavor. Right downtown. The service is fast and nice interior. Yardbird and all the bbq sauces its a food coma experience. Cant go wrong with it.

Meat was good. Brisket and pulled pork the better choices. The slaw and baked beans are some of the best I've had at any barbecue place. Six sauces to choose from. My favorites were the seasonal (nice blend of sweet and kick) and the SC Mustard (the best mustard-based sauce I've had, and I've eaten barbecue in South Carolina). Restaurant is large enough not to feel cramped. Plenty of servers who were attentive and helpful without being obtrusive. Happy to have been here on a beautiful spring day to take in the views through the large windows.

Walking into Slows felt so cool, it's a dark ambiance with a lot of wood - almost cabin like for the full BBQ experience. The staff was friendly and came to check on us. But I just felt the BBQ was ok. It was a dry and really needed to be drenched in sauce to make up for it. The wings have a good rub but felt like they were a bit tough to rip off the bone. I don't know if all their locations are like this or of it was just a bad day and as one of the only BBQ joints in the area would be worth trying again..

Real deal bbq ver reasonably priced. Anytime we end up in the city we have a hard time not going here. Service is always good but definitely make a reservation. Or if you're ok with waiting just show up. Feels like a bbq joint inside. Comfortable seating and inviting for families. We got the platter because we knew we wanted some later. We even ordered additional sides to go with it. Mainly because the Mac and cheese is sooo damn good. My only complaint here is add greens to the menu please!! It's the only missing piece in my opinion. Everything here is good all the way down to the sauces. Just go and find out for yourself

We stepped into Slows Bar BQ at 2138 Michigan Ave during a work summit this week and were instantly charmed by its vibe. Our private dining room felt welcoming, with just the right balance of cozy and communal. The brisket arrived, smoky ribs, pulled pork, beans, mac & cheese, rib tips, were all incredible. We were savoring every bite. Shannon, our server, anticipated our needs with an infectious enthusiasm. Shannon was outstanding. And Carrie, who guided us through the menu, in her role as group catering manager, made each selection of the buffet feel like a discovery. The energy of Detroit was humming around us. And inside Slows the focus was pure comfort and relaxation. I for sure will be back at Slows when in town next. Great location. Fantastic food. Unforgettable service.

Not as good as Texas BBQ, but still delicious. I'm a brisket girl, but the brisket did not impress me here. It has a slightly tough chew and I would've preferred it more tender. The baby back ribs were pretty good and I'd say the pulled pork was the best- it had a really unique flavor and very tender. Mac n cheese and cole slaw aren't pictured here but both are amazing side dishes to go with these meats. I split all of this with another person and it was enough food for both of us. If I return, I'll probably just order the meat a-la-carte and one side. I love eating more meat than sides personally, but for my first time, trying the various sides was worth the try!

A nice casual place to grab some bbq in Detroit. The door handle is kind of hidden to get in, but it's a cool looking door. The food was okay. The brisket was very tender, but it was also kind of dry. I had to use a lot of the sauces that they have at the table with it. The chopped brisket was actually better and had more flavor and juice to it. Overall it's a nice place to go, but the food itself it okay.

All the food here is delicious! Especially love their brisket and their chicken items. The beer menu is also always a great selection

Fire spot for BBQ. Reminds me of a spot in northern VT I like to frequent. Food was mouthwatering, serving was on point, and had plenty of leftovers to snack on later. Will certainly be back next time I travel to Detroit.

Believe it or not....this was my first time at Slows. It's been a Corktown staple for so long, I'm kinda embarrassed to say this. A friend of mine came in from out of town and he wanted to try some BBQ so we decided to do a pitstop into slows. We both love pork rinds and were surprised they were highly recommended and made fresh when ordered. These things came out hot and snapping like a rice crispy treat! We laughed at each bite but OMG....they were amazing! We ended up splitting an order of brisket and he got the mac & cheese! We both loved the brisket. It was cooked perfectly! Let's just say my friend said he'd most certainly come back just for those pork rinds! lol

One of the more recommended places on various sites slows was really delicious. We got the sampler plate which came with ribs, pulled pork, brisket, wings, enchiladas and more. We also got some Mac and cheese which was probably the best Mac and cheese I've ever had. And cornbread. Really worth the trip

Is there bacon in the baked beans?

There is ham in the beans.

Did you get rid of the Triple threat and the green beans!!??? Those were my top favorite items along with the ribs!? Now do I come back?

I went today and both options are gone, along with the cornbread. It's a very pared-down menu, unfortunately.

Is the Genius vegan? i've read from past reviews that the TVP is vegan so i was wondering if it is for sure now?

The genius is not vegan. The tvp is but the bun is nota, the slaw is not and the sauce is not.

Here is the lay of the land: Check in at the little red table in the center of the outdoor courtyard if you want "full service". - which means eating and drinking at a table with wait staff. It is not seat yourself at the outdoor tables, like we originally thought. There is a nice sized bar indoors and seating at the bar is first come first served. We ordered several of the small plate "snacks" and I can tell you that the hummus is not to be missed. It is served with (homemade?) tortilla chips that are absolutely addictive. They have lots of choices for wine, beer, and cocktails. Towards the back entrance of the property, there is a drink truck where you can also order "walkaway" food and drinks. Not entirely sure where you sit with the food/drinks you order, as most of the seating seemed reserved for full service. Additionally, there is a photo booth for pics (long line) and Warda Patisserie is right next door and accessible through a garden walkway.

If you want to sit outside, all you have to do is order at the bar and they'll serve your drinks in plastic cups for you to take outside. The rhubarb pie punch was so delicious I had to order it twice! Probably one of my favorite cocktails I've ever had. I also ordered the maurixio cattelan, which tasted like ginger ale. For a snack before dinner, we chose to get the burrata and it was so refreshing. The service was great and our bartender was super friendly! The logo with the little lamb is adorable. I bought one of their wine glasses with their logo on it too for just $10.

When I suggested "German with German beers on tap" the decision was made. We lucked out with our arrival on a busy night as the place is first come, first served and it is not at all very large. Three or four tables, two community tables and a dozen seats along the bar. And if you're not inside, you're queued up outside. We got the last two tables. Beer? They have all the big German beers on tap in large and larger glasses. Or if you want a tin? They have that too. They even have the good NA beers if you prefer. I started off with the Schöfferhofer Grapefruit Hefeweizen from Dortmund Germany (not very Germany purity law pure, but it's hot). On a hot day after walking too many streets of Detroit, this was a treat. With dinner, the Hefeweizen from Brauerei Pinkus Müller from Münster, Germany. Both cold and delicious and refreshing. For dinner, I chose the wurst platter, taking off the potato pancakes (I'm sorry) and substituting red cabbage. They were deliciously grilled, served hot and I enjoyed them very much. The only miss was that they didn't have their own mustard. I had to use the table mustard which was a bummer. Great service, we were never rushed though the serving staff was trying very hard to keep up with the flow. It was a fabulous meal and my great Yelp reputation with my colleagues continues.
