Okay, we've had this service for 20 years. They go all over East County. They've always been marginal, sometimes only doing one of the two tanks.... it was always a drama - a truck breaking down, someone not showing up to work.... one time they sent some idiot kid who was giving me shit (pun intended) about antibiotics being peed out of someone's body killing all of the good bacteria - and talking to me like a was a vestibule of STD's. I imagined he spoke to all women that way. I said, asshole, you know about antibiotic soap, right? He was a real loser. It was either hit or miss with the people they sent out. But the company had been servicing the house since before we bought it. So we stayed with them. I was so pleased today when the snotty woman who picked up the phone said, we don't do digging anymore. I said, it's only down about 12 inches and we always pay your diggers $200. Well, that set her off - no digging! She must be new from the last time we had a service done, she sounded so uptight. So, I hung up on her unhappy ass. Millennials.... I did find a new company. They will do the digging and will probably do both tanks instead of just one and charge me for two. Glad to be rid of you, sludgebusters. Guess you're too good to hire diggers anymore...the company I hired will be sending someone they contract, ever think of doing that? We just had a guy come out to do a clean out. He was very prompt, personable, and knowledgeable. However, the office instructed him to charge us more than they quoted us over the phone ($495 as opposed to $400). When we called to inquire about it, they denied ever quoting that price. Our septic tank was WAYYYY over due to be pumped out. We had narrowed it down to Sludgebusters or Abbot. We finally chose Sludgebusters and made the call. The lady that answered the phone was so nice and got us scheduled for the following week, since we were not in any hurry. The truck pulled up to our yard on time, with the Abbot logo on it. It turns out that it is now one company with two names. Peter introduced himself and went to work, but still took the time to explain everything to us that we asked or needed to know. He is a nice person and we are very impressed with his work. Very reasonably price, especially considering he hand dug out the tank covering with a shovel, through the hard California DG in our yard, and we hadn't kept up with routine maintenance. If I could leave 0 stars I would and do not recommend this absolutely terrible company to anyone! They are unbelievably rude and unresponsive when it comes to customer service and fail to take any responsibility for their shotty work. I had them come inspect my two septic tanks on my property here in Ramona for the sale of my home and was told one of my tanks failed inspection and needs repair, but they couldn't tell me why it failed and what needed repaired. They also quoted the job to be done on my home much less than what they actually ended up billing for the job they didn't complete!!! While they were here filling my tanks I let the associate know I had to go run errands and would be leaving, so he had me sign a paper that he said was confirming the tanks had been inspected. When I signed the paper none of the boxes shown in the picture were checked, so I assumed he was going to fill the tanks and shut off the water and handle all aspects of completing the job since he had begun refilling the tanks with my hose. NEVER was I told that it was my responsibility to keep an eye on the tank at my shop and shut off the water when the tank was finished filling, so my water ended up running all night long into the next day when I finally went back up to my shop and I'm probably looking at a pretty high water bill now thanks to Sludgebusters and they fail to take any responsibility for their terrible and irresponsible workmanship. I called the company 3 days in a row to address the issue following this horrific and now costly experience and finally got a hold of someone today and they were unbelievably rude!!! When I asked to speak to the owner Ed I was told that Customers are not allowed to speak to him because the last time they let an upset customer talk to him he ended up having a stroke. As if it was the customers fault... more like his company's fault for being sooooo terrible and treating customers like shit. They also falsely advertise on their website making them seem like a one stop shop when it comes to septic and that is absolutely not the case and is false! According to what I was told today they only do inspections and if your tank needs repair, but they can't tell you what needs repair, you need to call someone else to repair it! I talked to Joe, the owner about a job that another company bailed on. Not only does he know what he is doing, he is professional, honest, and will make sure you get taken care of. After the other company bailed on the job, I called a couple other companies and these guys were the only ones willing to help. This is a tough industry, and its likely hard to retain good employees. These guys are awesome! I just bought a home in Julian and about 6 days in my downstairs bathrooms flooded. I have a septic system which is new to me. All I had to go by was some paperwork from an inspection done in March. SLUDGEBUSTERS was closed by the time I got home from work to this disaster. I called the emergency phone number online and within an hour, Edward and his partner were here, in Julian handeling what turned out to be a clogged pipe leading to the system due to the house sitting for almost a year. First lady that I spoke to was nice and said that she would transfer me to Yvette who she said could answer my questions. The second Yvette got on the phone with me, she was the absolute rudest person I have ever spoken to. She had an immediate attitude and complete disrespect towards me out of nowhere and for absolutely no reason. I asked to speak with her manager or the owner since I was in complete shock at her actions and she told me that they don't have voicemails and don't believe in emails. LOL! They were so nice and helpful and were able to come out the very next morning it was a little pricier than I thought but i was okay with it and other companies were able to come out for over a week or so. We were selling our house and tried to schedule Sludgebusters through our agent to have them pump and certify the system. They were way out so they got told to cancel and went with someone else. Well they showed up anyways on the day we were closing escrow. The lady on the phone was very rude when we said we had previously canceled them. I rented a basic porta potty from them for several months. Customer service was usually pretty good -- actually answered the phone, with a human not a recorded message a several-minutes-long phone menu, which I appreciated. Some weeks they failed to come out and clean it on the scheduled day, and when that happened I called and they usually got someone out the next day, so that was good. I had to close my bank account, and accidentally left an outstanding bill to them and forgot about it, my bad, however since I had no actual checks at my new bank, and they flat refused to take payments over the phone, giving no explanation whatsoever, except "it's policy." Well that makes it difficult to pay. Finally able to make an arrangement to drop of a check by my husband, and was then told that our address was BLOCKED and would no longer be billed for new rentals, and new rentals would need to be paid at time of deliver, directly to the driver, either check or cash. This sounded VERY ODD and suspicious to me, and when I said so, the customer service insisted it was perfectly normal for an outstanding billing situation. The fact I had JUST RECEIVED another bill postmarked June 23 2020 (in other words, recently), makes her statement about our being blocked a LIE. When I calmly told her "we'll never rent from you again," she replied -- and I directly quote: "That's fine! We don't care if you don't rent from us." Apparently not. She actually said "We don't care" and though the words may been have said in annoyance and directed at me personally, gotta wonder the extent to which they "don't care" about other customers, current and prospective. My attempts to resolve our matter diplomatically were met with brick walls and NO willingness to work with us. I had been fairly satisfied with the service before now, cheap and conveniently located close to us. However in this last customer service exchange the woman became incredibly rude and bitchy when I was merely trying to get some more information and explanation for why their policies are so, and received only vague curt answers, which irritated me. I will now be renting for an event from a company farther away, which would cost more, they DO take payments over the phone, and Sludgebusters clearly does not value their clients enough to keep them. read more

Do not call these people. We were recommended to call them for a bid for repairs for our septic lid, which we were told would need repairs during our escrow inspection. However the secretary wouldn't even listen to me. She stated that they wont "give second opionions". I tried to explain that we needed a bid for repairs and their website states that they do repairs AND a reputable source gave a recommendation. She refused to discuss the situation.
