He kept me up date and explained the procedure thoroughly. Christian identified damaged areas in the tank wall due to age and amazingly was able to fix it the same day. He also found the lid rim was damaged and tried to save me some money with a larger lid, but it still didn't fit right. He brought back a custom lid the next morning that worked perfectly. Christian was a pleasure to work with. He was very patient, friendly and professional, despite it being 100 degrees with no shade. I had to admire his excellent work ethic and made sure he had plenty of water. I will certainly recommend A1 Septic Services and I will be a returning customer for sure. Today was the day, and although I was given a service window of 7-11am arrival time, I received a text at 6:40am saying they were on their way! Yay! The techs Luis and Peter (I think those were their names!) were professional, friendly, and answered all my questions. The customer service asked when I needed the service and I said as soon as you are available. She told me we can send someone today and then there was a $300 emergency fee. I did not say I had an emergency I simply said as soon as you are available. So she said well let me see if I can wave the fee. Then came back on the phone and told me oh it looks like we won't be available until Monday now. Needless to say, I went with a different company who showed up 30 minutes after I called and did the job for 1/3 of the price. Moral of the story, call around. I was recommended to call Mr. Septic. Peter answered right away and came out that same afternoon to inspect and give me a quote. He also suggested that I install risers on the lids, so I wouldn't have to keep paying for the digging of the lids, breakage and they would not break unlike concrete lids. I liked this suggestion. I asked Peter if I needed a permit for the repair job and modification to the tank if I added the risers. He assured me I did not. Regardless I checked with the County of San Diego and was told I did NOT need permits. Peter, to ease my mind, even gave me the name of an inspector at the County DEH whom I called and spoke with, who confirmed no permits were needed for repairs or the risers. Peter came out 2 days later and did a fantastic job. He is a hard worker, extremely knowledgeable. He's easy to talk to and was patient with me answering and explaining all my questions and concerns. Which as a woman - is rare to have a man treat me with respect and appreciated my questions and concerns. It was a "breath of fresh air" working with Peter - sorry couldn't resist the pun when dealing with septic tanks! Plus, he left my site clean! I really appreciated that.
