This review is not just for the place, but for Nick who works there as the front manager. We were greeted when arriving on a busy evening last weekend. The place was very crowded and pretty fast paced, but Nick took the time to explain a few things to us, and he was very friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and a calm guy despite the busyness going on. My son and I had Ramen bowls that were plentiful and very good! We sat at a table when one opened, and we were delivered our food by none other than Nick once again. He was again - super friendly and genuinely calm, even though he was doing three different things at once! I marveled at how chill the guy was and told him so! So: Food excellent, staff excellent, and wait time despite the crowd was also very good. ONE complaint is that they had no way of taking tips on the credit card up front at the register when you paid! That is unheard of and very unfair to the employees who are working hard for whomever owns this place!! I urge the owners to immediately rectify this situation!! We did not have cash on us, and I apologized to Nick that we couldn't leave anything for them. He didn't mind at all - but I did. We've been coming to Slurp Ramen since 2018 or so. It's always a family favorite. Affordable, delicious ramen with tremendous variety. Various rice bowls, different styles of ramen broth, and toppings like Kara-age and pork chashu. It's right in the village of Port Jefferson with a waterfront view of the harbor, making it the perfect way to start an evening or cap off an afternoon walking around PJ. The place is fairly small and fills up quickly but there's never a very long wait. The food comes out quickly. The staff is always super nice and you never feel rushed - I don't know how they found that balance of service, but it's just always so welcoming there! As for the food? Delicious! We've eaten ramen all over the country and have literally never found better noodles! We drive all the way from West Babylon, past several acceptable ramen places, to eat at Slurp. My husband always gets the Slurp Yuzu. Not every ramen place has this option. The salty, slightly citrus chicken broth has amazing flavor. They recently introduced paitak broth and I love it. A hearty flavor that's different than anything I've ever had. I get that with either pork or chicken- it's easy to customize exactly what you want. Portions are incredibly generous. I sometimes get a kids ramen instead and just add my toppings. The pork and chicken buns are light and delicious, with a fabulous spicy mayo sauce. I've also had a side salad on occasion and it's fresh and tasty, with ginger dressing. When we went this weekend we were lucky enough to run into the owner. She was there with her family. She spent about 15 minutes chatting with us, told us the story of how she and her husband, who is from Japan, started the restaurant. Cue the slurpy noises because this review is coming in hot (like a bowl of ramen soup!). Well, it's not that stifling (I was here a few weeks ago) and the review is definitely four stars (so not a level five heat fest), but I can discuss below how we got here. You see my wife and I were up near Port Jeff on a rainy Friday night and decided soup sounded good and so ramen was the winner in the form of this small broth spot. Slurp definitely isn't large, but holds enough people and turnover to get you in, eating, and out (for the most part). We had a small two-person table after we ordered at the front and though it would've been nice to have a little more space, I understood we couldn't make that work with the amount of people and larger groups coming in. Before sitting, we ordered up some lovely Japanese grub with my wife actually veering from soup to instead try a chicken kara-age bowl and the two of us splitting a chicken steamed bun. For me, I went full on ramen with the Slurp Classic. My soup (and the bun) came out quick which was great to see, though my wife's bowl took quite some time (to the point where I had to ask as other people who ordered after us received their food/soups before us). When it did come out, the staff member was apologetically friendly about it which made up for things a bit. You could tell the kitchen did not stop going especially when we were done and over by the garbages (which were near the kitchen entrance and probably needed to be emptied as they were overflowing...). Anyways, to backtrack to the food, it was all fantastic. The kara-age chicken was superb, the bun was delicious, and my soup truly hit the spot as I downed every morsel of chasu pork, egg, noodle, and tasty broth down to the last slurp. Everything was finished off with a Ramune soda which hit the spot. While eating, the decor was also fun to look at as there was a vibe somewhere between classic Japanese and modern American for what was on the walls. Overall, Slurp Ramen is a solid soup station. It has some flavorful food options and a decent (albeit small) interior to create a nice night of ramen eating. Perhaps there were a few small snafus that took away from a fifth star, but it's entirely possible/probable that I shall return and things could hopefully improve from there. So if you're looking for a somewhat super slurping time, come get it here! read more

Wow probably the best ramen we've had on LI. No frills ramen spot you pay at the counter and then sit at a table with a number and they give you your order. Service was pretty quick here and they were all really nice. My bf and I ordered the Slurp Paitak Ramen. The flavors in the broth were delicious. We loved the garlic and ginger notes. The chicken was rich in flavor as well. For appetizers we got the Ika Agé which is a Japanese style calamari. It came with spicy mayo and it was a hit and the perfect size for an app. My boyfriend and I left satisfied. I recently went to Slurp Ramen. I will start with the appetizer. I got some edamame, they nailed it, the edamame was salted well and was steamed nicely. For the main course, I got the slurp paitan. They also nailed this one. The broth was thin and delicious. The noodles were not too soft but not too tough. The service is very warm with a friendly vibe coming from everyone. My favorite toppings to add are the garlic chips and boiled eggs. This is one of my favorite meals in Port Jefferson. The staff is accommodating to dietary restrictions and will often allow substitutions to make the meal vegetarian. The interior is cute and has many tables. My children and I have been dining here for quit few years. Before covid hit everything was super. The quality of food, the presentation, the service etc. It felt like a family owned cared for business. However Slurp has never gone back to the way it was , perhaps the business changed hands? I don't know. Whats funny is years ago I use to ask when ordering my meal to add three plain steamed buns. They never knew what to charge me . However, after a few more dining visits , because my kids and I did frequent Slurp quit often, they decided to put three steamed plain buns on their menu! It's been a while since we have dined at Slurp. We decided to take a trip to port jeff and order an early dinner and go sit by the water. Like I said , it does not seem like the family owned business anymore, you get your food a-lot quicker now, and I don't know if thats a bad or good thing, however it's ok. Still enjoyable. And I'm hoping still better than any fast food places of which I would never eat at as well as directing my kids not to either. Its rich and savory. I could use some more spice and i find it a little too sweet too. Its just a matter of personal preference but otherwise a good solid ramen. I've heard very good things about this popular ramen joint so I decided to try it out. Parking lot is small and tricky to get out. The place is small but cozy feeling. There were tons of people there, even at the time I went (5:30pm). I ordered the Slurp Classic ramen while the boyfriend ordered the Chashu pork belly bowl. We also got the pork buns to share. Pork buns were fine, no complaints. The ramen was a disappointment. The broth didn't have that rich creamy tonkotsu flavor I was hoping for. The eggs were good though. My boyfriend enjoyed his chashu bowl. I tried some and it was good, just wished they didn't cut up the pieces of chashu so small. Overall, it's decent. When you get off the ferry from Bridgeport, Slurp Ramen is at your right sight just across the street. During the COVID-19 you can order your dishes online and pick it up and find a nice spot in the area to eat, or sit outside. We did the last. It looks like this spot is very popular, people come and go to enjoy their food. We ordered the Yuzu, the Snooth, and 2 ook buns. The soups, and broth came in separate containers. It would be handy to label the broth, cause we didn't know what was what and had to ask. No biggie, but it would be handy. The pork buns are of great flavor, and I should've ordered 2 for myself. Wow is all I can say and I'm not even sure that sums it up. Since starting at SBU I've heard coworkers rave about slurp lunches and I finally got to give it my own shot, and the fanfare is well worth it. Everything is customizable and made to order- super fresh, hot, and tasty. What's better though is how accommodating the staff is, especially for something like allergies. They'll always ask the cooks if there are any concerns, and have a list of allergens and options, and are willing to customize to accommodate (and for someone with a sesame allergy sometimes ramen isn't the easiest). Only downside is the parking lot is super tiny, but there is street parking right outside! read more
