Went here as I was nearby in the area around 2:30 pm on Saturday! I ordered the Big Smack & Tallow fries and it took about 15-20 minutes to come out with about 4-5 people in front of me. Lots of parking nearby in the area and this is a food truck so keep in mind ! I rate the burger a 7.5/10 as it was a delicious burger but the buns did not hit to me for some reason. The line was long and as they make everything to order, be patient as it'll take some time. ordered the original smash burger which is two patties, sauce and pickles. It was juicy, slightly messy (in a good way) and very tasty. It could have benefitted from a few extra pickles and more sauce. Ordered the waffle fries, which is fried in beef tallow. They were thick, crispy on the outside and potatoey on the inside. Really great fry though could also benefit from some more seasoning/salt (or at least have salt packets by the ketchup packet). My homie knew of this food truck that's at the back of Narrative Fermentation brewery. This was one of the many brew spots we hit up that night. The burgers "slaps" thank me later. Almost everyone with us got the hellapeno burger. You can't go wrong with a burger cooked on a flat top, but it had a touch of sweetness and it hit. Their sauce was also banging. "Smack Burgers," a trusted source said.. This was news to me. It was good news, as it turns out. You get me driving through the cuts and backstreets of SJ's industrial area to a pop-up food truck; there better be a fat kid's daydream waiting for me there. There was. When I try a burger, I don't mess around with anything but the core ingredients. A double cheeseburger needs only 3 components: meat, cheese, bun. That way the true foundation of flavor can't hide behind sauces, lettuce, or any other nonsense (onions are pure nonsense FYI) people put on burgers. "Plain Jane" is what I ordered. What I got was a double cheeseburger that could talk the Smack, and Smack back if necessary. Smashed to a thin, encrusted meat-coaster which looked like it was going to be as dry as an AA meeting; I was instantly convinced as I bit into it.. It was juicy, I experienced the buttered bun and melted cheese along with salty black pepper right away. Didn't need anything else on it, I could've eaten 2, back to back plain. Enter the Smack Sauce on the side, however. Done deal folks, I'm going again. Why 4 stars? I'll tell you why, since you seem to need to know. Breweries are something I'd wish we get more of in the Bay Area, but there's no beers without burgers. Who doesn't love seeing two small business collaborating for something greater? Compared to the "best burger in California" which was awarded to a shop in Southern California, which i ate a week prior before coming back to norcal...I had really low expectations for this place. And the expectations were just that. It's okay. It's not going to blow your mind and a reason to tell yourself that smash burgers are the way to go forever, not even close. It's a decent burger and it's what you expected for $15. The patties were not smashed enough and had no onion flavor. The guys working are top notch and genuine folks. I finally had the opportunity to check out Smack Burgers at Narrative Fermentation last weekend and it was a solid experience. Parking at Narrative is packed as usual in the front, but I managed to get a space. There's plenty of street parking along the Alma intersection. I ordered my Hellapeno and the guy gave about a 25-30 minute estimate that ended up being closer to 45-60 minutes. That's a long time for a burger and fries, but if you're already there enjoying a beer it's manageable. Plenty of seating in the back of Narrative with staff going around cleaning up. The burger combo will get you full. It's a solid double-patty smash burger with crispy onion rings, bacon, jalapeño, grilled onions pepperjack, and hot honey. Sweet, spicy, fatty goodness. I'm a sucker for waffle fries and had fun dipping it in the smack sauce, which could've been a little more interesting. The sauce leaned heavily into mayo. A nice Coke Zero was a great option to wash it down. Tasty food truck and definitely one of the better vendors at Narrative. Friendly staff, solid food, and a great reason to chill at a brewery on a summer day. Not a bad way to spend $25. 4/5. When my friends told me about Smack Burgers, it was touted as the best burger in the South Bay. That's high praise, so you know I had to investigate. Smack Burgers is a food truck that specializes in smash burgers. They have several types of burgers available, but it is otherwise a pretty simple menu. FOOD We decided to try a Baydestrian, which is a regular smash burger, and the Bacon Smeeze, which is a bacon smash burger. We got one of these as a box, which has the burger, fries, and a drink, and one of these standaone. The burgers were both pretty good, but I was not blown away by them; I've had better smash burgers in the Bay Area. I did eat these about 15 minutes after I got them though, so that could be a factor, but if you were getting these delivered, then they'd be in a similar condition. If I had to eat it there, then that's also a problem because the reason we waited was because there is no seating in the area, so we went somewhere else public to eat them. We did get a random passerby that asked us where we got them, and I don't blame them because these smell and look great, but I wish they tasted just as good. Burgers are okay sized, wish they were bigger though. Waffle fries were great though and there aren't many places that serve waffle fries. SERVICE You can either place your order online or you can order at the truck. I recommend putting in your order online so that you can pick up the food when you get there. I did have to wait a bit after I got there, so it's definitely the best option if time is of the essence. You'll get a text when your order is ready, but you can always just ask them when you get there. No issues with the service. COST A box is just shy of $20, depending on the burger, before tax. Burgers are generally about $12 each, so if you want the side and drink, the box is the better deal especially since you get a good amount of fries. As mentioned above, standalone burgers are on the pricier side especially for the size. Get the box if you can so you can get your value. SETTING So here's my biggest pet peeve about food trucks: inconsistent schedules. Smack Burgers is usually open once a week, usually on Saturday. Burgers aside, that alone disqualifies it from being called the best burger in the South bay. You can't be the best if it's impossible to get. They post their schedule on their Instagram, so if you want to make sure they are open, check that before you plan on getting on Smack Burger. They are usually located outside of a brewery. Parking lot is medium sized; didn't have any issues parking, but if it's busy, especially in the summer, it might be a bit difficult. While this is outside of a brewery, the brewery has signs posted that you cannot sit at their tables unless you are a customer of the brewery. So, you'll have to either eat it in the parking lot or take it to go. Overall, I'm unimpressed with Smack Burger. The burger is good, but it cannot be called the best in the South Bay. With the inconsistent scheduling and the price tag, unless you are a burger aficionado, you can look elsewhere. But, if you'd like to try it, make sure you check their schedule! 3.25/5 read more

I kept seeing their ad on IG finally decided to see wussup. Im going to be real with my review so here it goes . I don't know if it's the way they season their patties or if they use a different kind of meat but it doesn't taste like your usual patty. The meat seemed to have a Mediterranean hint to it. Not to my liking when I comes to burgers but if you like the meats like gyro or if you like how falafels taste like then these are the smash burgers for you. I been mad woeful cuz nothing has been good enough to scratch that smash burger itch. Perfect lattice of fat around the party very crispy. Bun so so soft, brioche or potato bun can't recall! Got the smack burger with grilled onions, sauce, and pickles. Was very delighted and had to remind myself to pace myself. Perfect combo of toppings, the patty isn't super seasoned, could have taken more salt and pepper so the onions really brought out the meatiness, pickles were butter pickles I think? They were more mild which I liked than like a super crunchy dill. Overall mouthfeel was insane, crispy fat lattice, plus the soft bun. Wow this is the most incoherent review I've written in a while and it's really cuz I lost my mind over this burger cuz it fr was smackin! Waffle fries perfectly crunchy and well seasoned too.
