I came here with a friend to watch the World Cup today, and we had a great experience. The garlic fries were crispy and delicious--they were made fresh to order. The cashier was attentive, welcoming, and very friendly. I highly recommend this place!
Can't say it was "hella good" but have always been curious about this spot. I got the hella good cheeseburger and the hella skinny fries. It was ready in under 10 min on a busy bustling Saturday evening. The burger was nothing special, tasted like a basic burger you'd get at an event/festival/carnival/etc. I thought their "secret sauce" would be noticeable but I barely noticed any sauce flavor and it was pretty watery and drippy. I got the hella skinny fries which were solid. No complaints about the fries. Overall this spot fulfills the burger craving but can't say I'd necessarily recommend it or that I'd get it again.
On 1/21/26, went to lunch at San Pedro Square Market with my work besties. The lunch itself will be on a different review, as this is for dessert. After eating, as we walked through the market, Hella Good caught my eye as they had a Chocolate Dipped Cone. Around 12p, was first in line, and waited a couple minutes. I could hear someone behind the wall in the corner and said "excuse me". Probably wasn't loud enough so a couple more minutes said "excuse me" again. The worker (maybe the cook?) emerged from the back, and said the cashier would be back as they had went to the restroom. Continued to wait, and the cook walked past the front and headed towards the restrooms. I felt like at this point, I was committed to sticking to the end for this dessert! A few minutes later, the cashier came back, greeted and said thanks for waiting. I said of course, and I wanted to let him know that the line was up to five people but now only two were left. He said he was in the restroom. I totally get it, though I thought it was a missed customer opportunity for their business. Ordering the chocolate dipped cone was quick and the cashier made the dessert while I was paying. The cashier handed me the chocolate dipped cone - a vanilla swirl, drizzled with chocolate sauce, and an upside down cone at the top; eh I was all in a cup. Glad I was able to satisfy my sweet tooth! I will have to come back to see if this is how the chocolate dipped cone is consistently made.
Just came here again for dinner. They unfortunately got rid of he hella dirty fries and replaced it with the hella dirty tots. Gonna be trying them out. The person at the counter JD is awesome. He was really friendly and explained to me about the fries being off the menu. JD welcomes customers with a smile and makes them feel welcome . I will come back because of the kindness JD has shown!
Was so exited the whole morning for this burger but what showed up was $17.50 of disappointment. Not even any fries and I didn't even see any tomatoes like there was in the menu pic. Not ordering from here again.
Definitely a hella good burger! Got the double smashed burger and each bite melted in my mouth like butter. Juicy, flavorful, cheesy, and the bun was super soft. It was packed and I couldn't finish it so I don't want to immediately shut down the price since I had left overs, but it is quite expensive! I'm a little disappointed in the onion rings though. It lacked a bit of flavor for me and I found it a bit odd how it didn't come with any sauce. Any ranch or bbq sauce would've definitely kicked it up a notch. Hella good burger is a great spot to try if it's your first time visiting the San Pedro Square Market!
We came here on a weekend evening and were surprised at the long wait time given that we only had one person in front of us. For an order of chicken tenders and fries and tater tots with garlic and cheese, we waited over 10 minutes for the food. The food was freshly fried, but it wasn't anything special. The chicken tenders were average, though we would have liked it crispier. The fries were also pretty good. But the garlic tater tots were not very good. The garlic was too strong and not cooked, so it was like eating raw garlic that left a pretty bad taste in our mouths. Overall, the food was fine but it is a little more on the pricy side.
I ordered the Hella Insane Burger with Grilled Onions and Bacon with a side of Waffle Fries. Ordering was quick and in about 10 minutes, the food was ready. The burger was loaded with flavor. It was hard to pick up so I had to be strategic. Overall, I really enjoyed the meal. I wish the bacon was crispy and in full pieces vs diced pan fried bacon they had. Maybe wrapping half the burger in paper to help make it more manageable would be good, too. Overall very pleased and will be back for more.
Hella Good burger is just pretty good. Especially for $14. Patty isn't very big; that's my main ish. The bun is brioche but wasn't toasted. Special sauce basic. Fries were just my type though... thin and crispy. Order at the counter then going a seat and wait for your number. It's in San Pedro Square so great atmosphere.
While the burger patty is advertised as 1/3 lb, and it might as well have been the weight pre-cooked/frozen, the patty was quite thin (for not being a smash burger) and fell apart while I ate it. With that said, it was not bad - just not worth the $14 price point. The onion rings, however, were seasoned and fried well. Again, a bit overpriced but tasty. Overall not the best but not the worst choice in the San Pedro Square market.
After a recent hockey game, I walked half a mile over to San Pedro Market. Great selection of food options; indoor and outdoor seating. I settled on Hella Good Burger and decided there was truth in advertising. Perfectly cooked with fresh produce and great sauce. Absolutely hit the spot. Food was ready within ten minutes, despite the business of a Saturday night. Walking away from the arena to have dinner and a couple drinks also made it easier to catch an Uber back to the hotel minus the surge pricing.
I finally had the chance to try Hella good burger, and it was honestly hella good. I got the spicy fried chicken burger with a side of their black truffle aioli. The burger was almost the size of my head! This was perfect because I was hungry but I literally had to take one of the chicken strips out to be able to bite into it. The flavor was still great. The truffle aioli looks a little sus but the flavor was great out and made up for it. The guy taking my order was super patient and was helpful when I wasn't sure what to get. We ate at the market on a Friday night so it was quite loud and chaotic in there, but we found seating and enjoyed our food.
We were hungry after having some wine and beer in the San Pedro Marketplace bar. It was Friday around 9pm and it was one of the last places still open so we opt for this place. We got the hella good smash burger and hella dirty fries. Smash burger was good. The waffle fries were a bit too saucy. But overall the food was good. Maybe I gotta try it sober next time.
So the guy who attended me was super friendly and chill. Great service. Set expectations of wait time and gave me options which should be something expected but he had a way to do it which was reassuring. The hella hot chicken sando I had was not as I was expected. More the hecka hot chicken sando version still ok but not amazing. Overall it was still good food. read more

This place should really change/remove one of their first too words because this place was not hella good. I propose the name to be either Hella Mid Burger, Hella Expensive Burger, or just Good Burger. I ordered a Hella Fried Chicken Sandwich and man, was the price hard to stomach. I'm paying more for a chicken sandwich than ANYWHERE ELSE in the Bay Area. I get food hall prices can be elevated but come on man, this is highway robbery. Not everyone makes that much money... The order around 10min, so I assume it's pretty fresh. The mild option didn't really pack a punch, so at least opt for a medium if you can justify $20 for a chicken sandwich the size of a McChicken. There is nothing that stands out here, the burger tastes similar to other fried chicken spots with the exception that they skimped on the coleslaw. The chicken was juicy, but isn't that the BARE MINIMUM since you're ordering a dark meat chicken sandwich? The customer service is the only saving grace of this spot. If you're driving here for this spot, you probably either have some sort of discount/coupon. Otherwise, go somewhere else or prepare to leave disappointed with an above average expense on your credit card. read more

Cheeseburger, fries and a drink $27 with tip. Hella basic and small. They only have Jones soda. Guy with the glasses was a bit rude with how he responded to customers, looked like he'd rather not be working. Got the text that our order was ready and went up to get it. My son asked if the tray he took was for him, they said yes. Bit into it and it wasn't our order. Went back to get the correct order and they had it behind the bar still... Guy next me was looking for his order and the guy with the glasses blamed him for leaving his food unattended so that someone could take it. Wasn't even busy. Hella mid and worth skipping. read more

The burger was delicious and the flavor of the meat was delicious. They are definitely on the pricier side for a burger and fries but they are really worth the try. All ingredients tasted fresh along with the cricut fries. Service was very friendly , helpful and explained the menu so I knew what to order. The side sauce was amazing to either add to your burger or dip your fries in. It's also inside San Pedro square so is a lot of seating but on the weekends it does get very packed but overall such a good vibe especially during sharks season. Give them a try! read more

I usually order fries from here as a snack while I'm working. Today I did the same, got my order and realized that the amount of the fries you get has gone down dramatically and I'm not sure that the price has gone down with it. $5 for this small amount of fries feels diabolical. I just wanted my same reasonably priced snack, but I guess that's indication of the economy we find ourselves in. Sigh. At least they're still good. read more

Went to San Pedro square after a day of shopping. Decided on a burger! Haven't had a smash burger so long, decided on the classic smash. The burger was perfectly cripsy and salty. The grilled onions and house pickles paired well with the burger it added texture and saltiness! Also ordered waffle fries, they were crispy and salted however the onion rings were the star of the show, battered and fried to a perfect crips. Would come here again and try a shake! would pass on the sugarcane soda. Everything else was amazing!! read more

Amazing chicken sandwich with other decent options for burgers and fries, and a very friendly guy at the counter! I decided to check out Hella Good Burger on my way out of town after a business trip and may have found the best chicken sandwich I've tasted so far. It's unique in that it's battered similarly to beer battered fish, which provides a really nice crunch and texture to contrast with the softer bun and flavorful array of condiments. I also liked that they don't try to do too much with the chicken, but they allow it to speak for itself, and it works in my opinion. I thought the insane burger was adequate, the meat was not overly cooked and the bread held up its end of the integrity bargain, but I would have liked more cheese. Not much a fan of the crispy cheese on the bottom, but I like mine oozing more. I also tried the garlic fries and tater tots with garlic crumble, and they are NOT shy about the garlic. Definitely had to brush before getting home to my wife! All in all I thought this was a pretty good find, and I will definitely be coming back for another date with that chicken sandwich! read more

Went to hella good burger for the second time and unfortunately did not have a hella good burger. Ordered the smash burger with no pickles. It was supposed to come with lettuce, sauce, two patties, cheese, and grilled onions. First of all the hamburger patties were not smashed.. smashed burgers had that thin crispy outer part which was missing from this. There was a good amount of sauce and the bun was toasty but they forgot my grilled onions!! For a $15 burger, you cannot afford to forget one of the four toppings. I was very sad about this but was in a rush so I couldn't wait for them to make it again. I don't think I'll be coming back. read more

Came here for the first time before a Sharks game. I hit the Rodeo burger and the "Hella Good Fries". The secret sauce they have is delicious. The burger was okay but the fries were so good. I'd definitely go back to get the fries again. This is located in the popular and trendy San Pedro Market. read more

This place is located in San Pedro Square and I decided to order here because I was craving a burger. Their menu had the typical American fast food chain of burgers, fries, milkshakes, and sodas. Be aware that it gets crowded during the weekends and evenings! They have limited stool seating and you order over the counter. Service was good - the cashier was helpful and recommended that the waffles fries were better than regular. A bit pricey for this type of food. 3.5/5 Overall. Hella Good Burger - 1/3lb beef patty, Tillamook cheddar, secret sauce, house dill pickles, onions, lettuce. Big portions that you can't take a full bite. Sauce was great but it may get messy. $13.50 Waffles Fries - Okay, went stale fairly quickly. Nothing special stood out to me. $6.25 read more

Stopped by here during lunch and got some burgers -- friend got a chicken sandwich and enjoyed it but said it was a little hard to eat due to it being so loaded. I got the smash burger and it was actually one of the best burgers I've had in a while, the patty was juicy and the sauce/cheese brought it all together, feeling like it was melting in my mouth. I also got the waffle fries, they were a good level of crispy and well-seasoned. We also got our food pretty quickly after ordering. The only thing is for a fast food type of spot, it was a bit pricey read more

Burger was fine but ordered the tater tots for $5.25 and got a tiny amount. The small container isn't even filled up. Not worth it. Food came out fast during lunch on a weekend but wouldn't bother coming back here again read more

One thing that always stood out to me about this place as I walk through San Pedro Market was the variety of milkshake flavors. I didn't get any of them this time, but considering it was called "Hella Good Burger" I decided that it would be a good idea to start off with the burger. I got a Hella Smashed Burger, while my friend got the Hella Fried Chicken Sandwich. Serve was a reasonable wait, not too long and not too short, and the kiosk is inside of the San Pedro Market area which has sort of a rustic feel to it. My burger itself was just okay - not really anything super special, and far more expensive than it probably should've been. I might be interested in trying one of the milkshakes considering the flavors that were listed on it, but overall it would not be a place that I would want to try again. read more

Had a late lunch here on a weekday. It wasn't busy at all so the food came out fresh. The wait was about 10 minutes. I ordered the smash burger which was a decent size. Burgers were SOOOO juicy, a part of my bun was soaked towards half of the meal. The star of the show was the waffle fries. It was fresh, perfectly crispy, and soft on the inside. Overall a great place to satisfy your burger cravings. read more
