Do not sign up for a subscription. Banfield makes it very difficult to cancel and there are no refunds. Cancellation could not be completed online or by calling the local office. I had to call a special number at the corporate office. I even changed my credit card number and the subscription did not go away. I was charged for 15 months before I could cancel. read more

I literally cannot say enough good things about the veterinarians and their staff at this location. I changed to this pet hospital after some arguments with my old vet who didn't want to keep up with vet medications. Since switching, we found out my sweet Shadow has diabetes and that's why he had lost 4lbs so quickly and then my sweet Mo who is an older kitty was diagnosed with kidney disease. Their staff was aggressive with treatment and diet. Shadow has now come off of insulin and is maintaining with diet alone and Mo's kidneys are awesome as he is intaking more fluids. I never got that care with the previous two veterinarians. They are always available if something is going on. Everyone knows us by name. Even if we are just shopping in the PetSmart store, they eagerly greet us and ask about our kitties. I love it read more

I brought my pupper here on a Saturday afternoon as they were the only local vet still open. I was told that they were an appointment only vet. I might be living under a rock but I have never encountered this with a vet before...? Anyways, I got an appointment for 5pm that day. I brought my dog back & the front desk staff got his shots & info all entered into their computer. We waited a few moments. He got weighed then we were put in a room. The "nurse" came & talked to me about what was going on & opinions of treatment. One thing I really liked is they were very upfront with pricing. They gave me a quote before doing anything. They did not try to rip me off with things he did not need. They allowed me to be an active participant in his treatment which I loved. They even performed some tests while we were there & they came with fast results. The vet & "nurse" were AMAZING! I don't think it's always the same vet but this was a younger female vet. She was very sweet to my boy & I could tell she really cared. I would recommend this location. :-) read more

do not use this vet!!! I brought my dog in for symptoms of a UTI. Urinalysis did not indicate bacteria but the doctor still prescribed antibiotics and totally missed the fact that she had massive bladder stones which in three days time obstructed her ability to urinate. This egregious oversight cost me 6,000 dollars in emergency surgery and almost killed my dog. Consider yourself warned!!! read more

I am highly upset with this establishment. My dog passed away but prior to this I paid a wellness plan almost all the way off. This plan was to include 2 visits along with his heartworm, flea, and tick prevention. I only owed 101.10 cents for services not yet rendered. I contacted them because I wanted a refund for what treatments I paid and he never received. They not only are saying I didn't pay that much when I see 2 receipts that total almost 534 dollars one in cash and the other my credit card but trying to tell me I still have to pay for services my dog never had!!! His first visit was just over 200 dollars and they are basically stealing my money that's left over which totals 314.43 cents!! I would not opt for a wellness package people because after investigating further I also see they put my 2 year old dog at the time on the most expensive package they offer for senior dogs!! But yet I specifically said I wanted just the prevention plan. They should be ashamed of themselves and I'm taking all my paperwork and contacting a lawyer because I've seen several other reviews just like mine in other states!! This has to stop!!! My dog is with Banfield over 8 years with 2 dogs and today i had an emergency. Her anal glands are severely infected and she can not poop and will not eat and is in a lot of pain. i tried to get a schedule for today to get Antibiotics because i tried to express glands myself but all i got out was a tiny bit of very sick pus. Banfield Hospital told me they just have one vet, because one called in ill, and she can not come today.Having worked for 25 years in the health business as a pediatric nurse my understanding is to call someone in when you can not take proper care of patients and i do not care if it is a human or an animal that is suffering. read more

Never had any issues. Always able to get an appointment same day or next day if needed (or drop off option). I usually see Dr. Bob or Dr. Heaton. Piper has had a wellness plan since she was about ten weeks old and two pounds and she's 15 months now. Dr. Bob is very gentle with her since she's so little (she's now six pounds). Piper has gone here for an X-ray to determine if her leg was broken. I was able to drop her off right after I called. They had no appointments for me to stay with her but were able to take her as a drop off. After they confirmed the break we were recommended to a surgical vet (Medvet). I wish they were able to do major surgeries on site, but I've been told they can do dental extractions on site. Piper was fixed at this location as well. After vaccines we always get told adverse symptoms to be aware of or to look for. We always get a next day call to see how Piper is doing. read more

I would give negative stars if I could. I took my dog Halo to this location because I heard it was better than the Gulfport location. (I was not very happy with them, but at least they didn't treat my dog the way the mobile location did) My dog has anxiety, especially when it comes to grooming and nail cutting. She is a shelter dog and I have been training but the process is slow and in the meantime her nails are painfully long. I explained her situation to the receptionist and I NEVER ONCE spoke with the vet about her situation. Even when the vet prescribed her medication that I told her my dog has had an adverse effect with in the past. The receptionist told me the vet was sure it was safe to give my dog. And it was the only way they would be able to clip her nails. Then I drove 45 minutes to the location only to be told it's a drop off appointment and I need to come back 7 hours later to pick up my dog, or when they call me. Again I wasn't happy with that but it wasn't the end of the world, I thought it would be worth it as long as my dog had clipped nails and got her comprehensive exam. I got a phone call from a vet tech, again NEVER spoke with a vet. They said her exam was done but they couldn't clip her nails and was ready to just hang up with me! I had ask her what my options are with her since the vet was my last option. I was told I need to schedule ANOTHER appointment and bring her back. So I drove 45 minutes to pick up my dog and I pay, schedule the next appointment and when the receptionist brought my dog out she reeked of feces. And I chunk of DRIED poop fell off of her. Her whole bottom half of her body was covered in DRY poop. I was so mad I had to walk away. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. My dog even had poop on her face from trying to clean herself and was obviously uncomfortable. Then before I leave the receptionist tells me I have a bag and hands it to me right before I walk out of the door. No explanation as to what it is. Again I'm so mad I didn't even think to look in the bag because I was about to snap on everyone around me. Come to find out it was a bag of medication that NO ONE explained to me what it was. I had to drive 45 minutes with a poop covered dog home. The fact that it was dry was the most disturbing part. Who knows how long my dog had been covered in her own feces. She was extremely thirsty when I got her out to the car as well. All I can say is this Banfield location is THE WORST! Absolutely neglectful and unacceptable. I promptly cancelled our banfield wellness plan my dog will NEVER return. Someone called to check on my dog the next day and when I explained my issues was told that I would get a call back from a manager. That was two weeks ago. So they are obviously not trying to resolve any issues and are fine with neglecting the dog that come for care. read more

I went here because they offer wellness plans that fit into a budget. I had done this before in Pensacola and had a decent experience so I thought it would be similiar here in Mobile (on Airport). They are very unprofessional, especially the staff at the front desk. When I went to pick my cat up I kept learning more and more about a visit that had gone not as planned, instead of just being told everything up front. They were unable to do a simple IV, which I know could have been done because it was done 12 hours later at another vet with minimial problems even with the bruising caused by Banfield. Bottom line your pets health and overall wellbeing is worth paying a little bit more with a professional vet. I will never take my animals back to Banfield, not even for simple exams. If you care about your pet you wont either. There are very good vets that also offer plans like the wellness plan, do your homework I wish I had. read more

Ive been to the Spanish Fort location a couple of times and I will NOT be back! I first took my sick pet there and everything from the girls up front to the vet were unhelpful. I was shocked that these people are in the business of caring for animals. I even got a rude phone call a few months later after my pet passed advising me to bring her in for a visit. When I informed the girl she passed her response was in a tacky way "Oh, okay, sorry" and that was it! I was thinking to myself WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE?? After a few years have passed since then I advised my boyfriend to pick up some flea medication since he worked so close and they advised they have to see the pet...What the??? Ive shopped for flea medicine in a few different cities and states and NO ONE has ever asked to see my pet! Again, a disappointing experience from Banfield. Oh and as for the free vet visit on your first visit...that's B.S. too...I went on specified day to see if I could save a little bit of money in case my dog needed medications etc. They never gave it to me...this place is terrible. The lady that wrote this review must have had a bad visit or expected something she didn't receive but im here to tell you that the Spanish fort location gave me excellent service and treated me and my pet like part of the family. I brought my six week old kitten in got him set up straight away. The doctors were super nice and professional and we ended up purchasing their really cheap wellness plan. My name is Melissa Widder. My husband Josh and I have enrolled our pets in Optimum Wellness Plans for many years and frequented Banfield Pet Hospitals for their care all over the country. My husband's job requires that we travel and consequently we recently moved from Cheyenne, Wyoming to Mobile, Alabama. The Optimum Wellness plans are a fantastic solution for those who travel and want premium care for their pets at an affordable price. Shortly after our family moved here to Alabama, my cat began showing signs of skin irritation and proceeded to lick a large amount of his fur off. We have always used a parasite preventative and were positive this was not a flea or tick related issue. My Banfield hospital, located at 3890 Airport Blvd., Mobile, AL., was working on getting to the root of my cat's skin problems. Skin irritations in pets can take time to fix, and we found ourselves worried and frustrated for our kitty's situation. I emailed the Banfield Corporate Office and expressed these concerns. Within 24 hours I was met with an outpouring of renewed concern and feedback, not from just one person assigned to contact me from the corporate office. Everyone from corporate down to every last staff member at my local Banfield Hospital went out of their way to inquire after my pet's wellness. They encouraged us to come back with our cat in an effort to be certain everything possible could be done to help him. When this happened I became aware of how very much the folks at Banfield value our pets...that they love the task of providing health and wellness for other people pets. The staff at Banfield truly care for your family's pet as if it were thier own and have done an outstanding job making sure my cats stay happy and healthy for a long time yet to come.
