Such a local gem, Small Craft Brewing is an appropriate name! Very laid back, friendly and helpful bartenders and staff. Big screen tvs not just playing sports but also fun movies. Great music and fun selection of beers including a fruity beer and a sour ale. They have a plain hard seltzer you cab add syrups to or even add syrups to beer. Very creative! I would have liked a hard cider or 2 in the mix. They collab with a pizza truck who had a little tent outside, the pizza was good but they had no take home boxes. One thing to know is this spot is behind the mechanic, you actually have to turn into what looks like a driveway to a parking lot to see it on the side and there is double parking. read more

Visited this place after having dinner close by. Listen when I tell you I had a great time. This place is adorable and no frills and I say that with all respect - it's a hidden gem. From the employees to the patrons everyone was so nice - it's was a mixed bag couples, groups, families and dogs. There are a ton of games to play and multiple TV's at the bar. A bit of a hole in the wall of a local brewery, but don't let that fool you, they are delivering AAA quality. With a constant rotation of new and exciting beers (you have to try the Tsunamiii), there is always something I want to try and plenty of old reliable options to fall back on. Current favorite is the dreadnought, a barley wine coming in at nearly 16% but it tastes amazing if you like darker beers. The atmosphere has always been great with indoor and outdoor seating options and staff are the friendliest guys around. When I saw a Facebook post that they were brewing pumpkin beers in June, I couldn't resist! Pickup only right now, but that didn't stop me from ordering a few crowlers. At first I saw that pick-up was only until 315pm Monday-Saturday. I really wanted to pick some up on Friday to have for Saturday. I wouldn't make it by 315 being that I don't get out of work until 3. I decided to send them a message and see. To my surprise, they offered that they would hang around until 330 on Friday so that I would be able to pick-up my order! Talk about customer satisfaction!! Curb-side pick up was a breeze! You call when you're in the parking lot, and they bring it out. Simple! Now the taste...absolutely delicious! Amazing pumpkin flavors and undertones. A hidden gem behind a mechanic shop. My friend's dad was gifted beer from this company and we were in the area so we decided to stop by altogether. We came on a Thursday night and they were packed! The bartender was friendly and provided drinks on the house. I'm not a fan of beer but I fell in love with their Mexican flavor. It's light and refreshing! Didn't taste too malty. Even though they don't provide food, they allow customers to bring food and hang out. My friends and I decided to order through door dash and played card games as we enjoyed our beer. We love new experiences and beer lol so we decided to check it out. Such a charming establishment. Listen, Long Island. From now on, there's a small craft advisory in Amityville. Hey, don't panic. This is a good thing! All it means is more beer for us to drink. Small Craft Brewery? Get ready to set sail! A few weekends ago, one of my beer buddies and I ventured down to the south shore to hit up this brand spankin' new suds spot. I then had the pleasure of trying it all out again a few days ago. Between both times, things went swimmingly (no actual water activities were involved...well, unless you count drinking beer). Parking can come at a premium, but like I usually say, I won't stick it to a place if they just don't have the space (not a slogan, but I could get used to that). Anyhoo, once situated in a spot, the exterior looked like a converted garage. Once inside, it's so much more than that. Small Craft's set up reminds me of a combination of several other LI brewery tap rooms (Garvies Point, Oyster Bay, Dubco) while still giving off their own unique touches. For one, the mildly nautical charm through clever beer names as well as their own poker chips to use with a chip-system-flight were nice hints of originality. Barrels and picnic tables plus plenty of countertop space around the back and a decently-sized bar makes the place quaint yet roomy. Some merch was also available for purchase (pint glass, check). But enough of the aesthetics. Let's get into the tastes (and I don't mean licking the building). Brew selection was decent with several IPAs and takes on many other styles (stout, brown ale, kolsch, wit). Some were true standouts, such as Bay House (a heavier brown ale with plenty of flavor) and Citra Pale Ale (a subtle haze and hoppy finish with easy mouthfeel). I liked Citra so much it was my pint of choice the other night during trip numero dos. Though a couple of brews somewhat missed the mark, like Dream Boat (an oddly light stout that didn't have the complexion it should or could) and Depth Charge (kind of a more West Coast IPA style that just lost me on the intense bitterness). Everything else faired nicely (shout out to Spindrift and Thatch Island, [Thatch being on the menu the second time around]). Overall, Small Craft Brewery packs in good quality through its tasting room and above-par brews. I'm not sold on five stars just yet, but it's not too far off. Consider the place borderline 4.5 for now. Keep brewin' and I'll keep on drinkin', but don't worry, if I do partake in some suds, I'll be sure to stay away from boarding any actual small crafts (har har). *Of course, a brewery would be my 500th review* read more

I really feel like I am drinking at the dock at this place. Nice little spot, with a nice garage door they open when the weather is nice! I thought they had a nice mix of styles, IPA, pale ale, cream ale, sour, rye. My favorite beer was the rye melange, delicious. The leeward Vienna lager was also executed very well. Brand new Long Island brewery, opening night March 23rd, 2018. They are behind a automotive repair shop and not easily seen from the street. I tried the nine beers on tap: Depth Charge, a Double IPA, 8.1%ABV, which was very hoppy and very good. Dream Boat is a Stout, 4.3% ABV, easily drinkable and tasted a little watered down for a stout, but that should have been expected with the low ABV. Bay House, a Brown Ale, 7.8%ABV, is very good and smooth tasting, a must have beer. Wanser's Cut, a Wheat beer, 4.5%ABV, since I usually do not like wheat beers it would not be fair for me to criticize this beer, for a Wheat beer it was decent. 3 Props This Time, Session IPA, 4.5%ABV, this is a lighter IPA, not too hoppy, easily drinkable. Citra Pale Ale, Pale Ale, 6%ABV, a good pale ale, hoppy, light citrus taste. A good Summer beer for a hot day. Sandriff, a Wit beer, 4.5%ABV, it has a strong bitter flavor, some people might like this beer, just not me. Ketcham Kolsch, Kolsch beer, 4.9%ABV, light and drinkable for a Kolsch. Good Carbs, Session IPA 4.9%ABV, another good light IPA, not as hoppy as a Double IPA, easily drinkable. They seem to have a good local following because while there were less than ten cars in the parking lot, there were about forty people inside. Flights are 4 samples for $8. A glass of beer is $5 to $7. Growler fills are $18 to $22 (bring your own growler). Crowler fills will be available soon. read more

I've been in here a few times since they opened. Gerard and his crew have done an excellent job transitioning from homebrewing to large quantity for the brewery. I have liked every single beer that I've tried here (usually get at LEAST one flight each visit) and that includes styles that I am not usually crazy about. The variety of what is on tap is also pretty good. They have IPAs, browns, stouts, sours... Something for everyone! If I had to make any sort of complaint, I would say it can be a little difficult to find if you don't already know what you're looking for and parking can get tight on a busy day like a summer weekend. I'm glad to see this place bustling every time I go and the staff is friendly and pleasant as well. If you like craft beer, make sure to stop in and check this brewery out. read more

I tried 2 of the IPAs (I cannot remember the names at the moment) and they were very excellent, and subsequently got some growlers to go of both (they are actually giant cans which they can right there which was pretty neat). So upset I forgot my phone last night at the grand opening of Amityville's first brewery! Super excited for this brewery because it is close to home and run by an awesome family. We arrived and had a bit of a struggle with parking. We were able to get a spot across the street so not a big deal. Do note that if its during the day you can't park in the nail salon/barber shop spots. After hours, you can...and also in Sammy's Auto. We walked in and was greeted by one of the Small Craft members. The brewery is set up with tables and barrels to set your beers down and has a decent size bar to sit at as well. Good amount and variety of beers on tap. We went with a flight first, so we could taster a variety. These are the one's we ended up trying: Depth Charge, a Double IPA MY FRIEND's FAVORITE Dream Boat is a Stout Bay House, a Brown Ale 3 Props This Time, Session IPA (didn't love) Citra Pale Ale, Pale Ale...MY FAVORITE Ketcham Kolsch, Kolsch beer MY Husband's Favorite You definitely get that welcoming brewery feel when you enter this establishment. Found this place online after having brunch across the street. We were talking about driving out east to check out some breweries, and were excited when we found one right in town! This brewery is definitely hidden, and you would probably drive right past it if you didn't know it was there. The beers and flights were very reasonably priced and all pretty good! The tasting room was bustling on a Sunday afternoon, with open walls to enjoy the summer day. There were lots of games to play, and there was a super clean bathroom which was a pleasant surprise. We also got growlers filled to bring home which were around $18. I would have loved to have some live music, but overall it was a great new find in the neighborhood!! So excited to see this place pop up in my hometown! I was home visiting my parents this weekend when they told me a brewery had popped up where the old CrossFit gym used to be. They told me of a small place with one hell of a double IPA, and I couldn't resist temptation. The "Small" brewery was tucked down a gravel driveway, behind an auto body shop and a nail salon. The humble exterior made way for the open micro-brewery, all 8 fermentor tanks in full view of the drinkers. Their menu featured 12 beers on tap, pretty nice for a brewery of this size! I got a flight of 4 beers for $8, and was pleasantly surprised with the quality. Their "Depth Charge" is a wonderfully strong and hoppy DIPA, while their "Ketchum Kolsch", named after local road running from the train station to the ocean, hit me with a wave of refreshment. It's so great to see a place pop up like this in Amityville, and it's easily becoming a new destination spot. Get in here while the beer lasts! read more

Great, friendly place with a good crowd and splendid selection of beers. You can tell the guys who run this place love what they do, and they appreciate the customers who love coming here. It is a friendly atmosphere with a good vibe from both staff and patrons. We had a group of 7-8 people coming together to meet for a game twice, and the management was awesome in welcoming us and accommodating us. The place has their own games scattered around the walls if you want to start one while having a frosty beverage. The crowd starts off small upon opening, but the place does get packed as the night goes on so you will need to navigate through the throng to the bar, BUT, once you get there the guys are great at catching your eye and taking your order as soon as they are free. You can expect it to get loud here between the crowds, music and or game on the big screen playing. The beer selection is wide, with everything from IPA's to lagers and pilsners, and the prices are very reasonable for what are well-crafted beers. Haven't tried everything, but everything I did was well done. No misfires here! Only trick for this place is location. They are located behind another business so you have to look for the sign to turn in on the road; it can go by quick. Also, their parking lot is small and usually full, so you might have to find a space a little bit away. However, if you are fond of craft beers and like visiting places where people are glad to see you, you really need to make the effort to check this place out. read more

There's nothing like Small Craft Brewing in this area. What a great addition to Amityville. The brewery is really comfortable and has a friendly atmosphere. The owners are incredibly knowledgeable and take great pride in the quality of their product. I've never struggled so much with making a decision as to what to drink. Every beer has been excellent. Be on the lookout for the roadside "Small Craft" sign -- part of the charm is that the brewery is not visible from the road. Cheers! read more
