Do not use this company. I do not know how they have some many good reviews they were completely incompetent my girl friend had left them at the apt to go open up the new place came back they had left our boxes on the street in the tenderloin!!!! I had my a bunch of my stuff stolen. They quoted me one price and charged more then the original price and still haven't returned my deposit and to top it all off they have not answered their phone at all. They made no offer to pay for my stolen stuff or refund my money they over charged or return my deposit... again "DO NOT USE" this company very unprofessional. They don't even have a office in sf there address is a P.O box the company is registered to a church in Jackson MS Just all around fraud. Update David continues to threat my wife now sending emails to famliy members as well threatening us to take down the Yelp review...he has put up a website in my wife's name sending links to family members with threat I have had to contact the police again and a lawyer to handle this cyber bully will continue to update this post as he continues his harassment and will upload photos as he keeps sending them this guy really needs to focus on his business and not stalking his customers they also operate under three different moving company's will update post with all company name after my lawyer clear me to do so. Ray and his team moved both my sister and me in the same day. She was their first move, and I was their last (8pm!). Despite it being the end of a long day, they showed up ready to work, and kept at it until nearly midnight. They were accommodating to a late, weekday move, were professional, friendly, and experienced. They moved everything carefully, and calculated how to get some large items through impossible looking hallways and doors. After researching movers on Yelp, and finding a Groupon deal, I called to learn more and secure a date for moving furniture for our move. In that conversation, when asked how I found this company, I said Yelp. I was told that the cost is $200 for up to 2 hours for a move and anything over is $100/hour, prorated to the minute. There is a $25 deposit to secure a time. They had availability for the Saturday in June I was looking for so I'm tried to book the day. I then ask if the $144 I paid for the Groupon can serve as the deposit. The "deal" is advertised as 59% off moving services that would normally cost $350 for the same thing that I had just been quoted to be $200: professional movers--along with tools, dollies, shrink-wrap, tape, blankets, and a truck--for two hours. The response is "you didn't say you had a Groupon. That's a different deal." All of a sudden the terms change. The Groupon is only good for weekdays, although that is not indicated in the terms. I asked if I could book for the Friday before the Saturday I wanted, and all of a sudden he can't tell me if he's available (mind you, he had no problem looking up the Saturday when it was the yelp deal). I was told that he would email me the "new terms." It's been 4 days and I have not received them. At this point, buyer beware, especially if you are comparing Yelp for a Groupon. The business practices change depending on how you find this company. And if he loses money on the Groupons, which he shared in conversation, then why offer them? Perhaps there are upcharges and overages on time that may surprise you on moving day. Once they are in your home and your committed, what can you do? My suggestion is to not buy the Groupons. Per the other ratings, it seems this company may be only good to clients who either (1) pay full price or (2) are not aware that "the deal" is overstated. read more

Although I was only moving my bedroom 20 blocks west, my craigslist horror story roommates left me wanting to get out fast and with as little stress as possible. Ray and his team were exceptional. Prior to the move he answered all my questions and confirmed everything via email - which was comforting as I tend to get a little wary when a company is offering such a competitive price. But the best part? I had scheduled my move on the day of the Giants Victory Parade (if only the team gave warning to their success!) and the day after their World Series win, I called Ray and frantically explained that I'm a huge fan and asked if there was anyway I could reschedule to the next day. He moved it to the next morning, no problem. What customer service! Ray and one other worker showed up on time, with notice, and professionally packed everything up and then set it up in my new room, all the while making friendly conversation. In my moving case, it was pouring rain and three strong and handsome men swung by my apartment! They took care of my boxes, bags, and furniture in a speedy manner and met me over at my new house! I ignored the warning signs that they only have five and one star reviews. That's usually the sign of shenanigans and it's certainly the case here. Ray will probably try to discredit me by saying he's never heard of me - the same way he has for the other negative reviewers. These guys have a Groupon available but it's impossible to use. I requested a move and locked in a day, as soon as he found out I was using a Groupon he said they were full that day and the cost tripled as they needed to rent another truck. A friend called for that same day to use cash instead of a Groupon and magically they had availability again. Like reviewer Valarie I don't see them listed on the PUC site as a license and insured moving company. It would be helpful if they could respond with details on how they are insured. I'm skeptical of all the five star reviews given the other bad experiences I've read about. read more

This is going to be a very short review of SF Bay Small Moves... because they did EXACTLY what they were hired to do and were ABSOLUTELY phenomenal in work quality. Saw the special deal on Groupon prior to my move in SOMA. Although the moving was really just a few blocks away, I have acquired quite a lot of stuff over the years and with a huge mattress/bed frame that were impossible to move by myself. Easy and quick to connect, either over the phone or email, Ray and his team were pleasant and reasonable -- the moving was very convenient and they were very careful with my belongings. I never leave reviews for companies as I'm not very tech savvy but I hired this company to move a few pieces of furniture I bought from La-Z-Boy. They showed up in their box truck with two rough looking guys. They attempted to load my NEW sectional in it the truck and they dropped it from about 4 feet high off the truck as they were loading it. My move was relatively simple. I had no furniture but many boxes of books so there was a lot of heavy lifting involved. I moved 5 minutes away from my current home. The entire process went very smoothly and the move was completely stress-free for me. I highly commend Hector who pretty much did the entire move on his own. There was a 2 hour minimum for the move and Hector was able to move everything on his own (27 boxes of books, 10 large boxes of other items, and a few misc items). What a gem of a worker! read more

I hired Small Move Pros to move a refrigerator within San Francisco yesterday afternoon. Two movers showed up who were perfectly nice but were unable to find a way to get the item down one flight of stairs. This was hard to understand given that the day before two movers had brought the new fridge, which is equally big, UP the same stairs. In the end, they returned the fridge to the same spot it had been in before their arrival. I accepted their proposal to return the next day (today) with the proper equipment to move the fridge and to fix the new dent in my wall that both of the workers acknowledged that they caused. They told me they would come at 10am. When no showed up by 10:30, I assumed that they were just running late. I texted the mover on the same number they had used to contact me yesterday - no response. I called the number - no response. I next called the main Small Move Pros phone number - no one picked up. I then called from my wife's phone and the same manager that yesterday had been so enthusiastic about helping me move picked up the phone. But when I nicely asked when they would be coming, he told me that not only were they not on their way, but that they weren't coming at all, that I owed him money for the "help" they had given me yesterday. I reminded him that this was not what we had agreed to less than 24 hours ago and explained that it was hard to comprehend how he could conclude that I owed them money given that the only result of the "help" was that I had a new gash in my wall that his own workers had told me they would return to fix today. He then told me that he should sue me for money owed to him and that I should "start making sense." He told me an invented story - that when his workers had asked if I would be willing to compensate them for the 60 min spent damaging my home that I had "laughed" at them. I explained that he still had a chance to make things right by coming and doing what he had agreed to do and fix the damage to my home, otherwise I would have no choice but to share the facts of my experience on yelp so others could avoid my misfortune. He refused to do so. Obviously I'm more than disappointed by the experience of being insulted and having my house damaged. Please spare yourself the expense and aggravation and avoid this business altogether. read more

I called about a dozen companies, and they gave me the best quote for the job. I liked that they quoted me a fixed fee, and didn't just quote me a complicated math formula based on time, mileage, gas, etc. like many other companies; I knew exactly how much I would spend up front.
